Brew Ha Ha is a funky little local coffee shop and cafe located in Mid-City on Jefferson near Government. They have great coffee drinks, are are renowned for their wide variety of tasty cake balls. Their walls are adorned with local art, and from time to time one can walk in during the evening to find a belly dancing class/session in progress. There is some nice outdoor seating, and two interior seating areas. They have free WiFi if one needs to be connected to do some work or studying while one is there. Sorry, but their Americano was not good at all. My belief is simple: if you have to add cream and sugar to your coffee, then it isn't good coffee. And this americano needed help. Discovered Brew Ha Ha about 6 months ago and I have yet to be disappointed. I bought cake balls for my Galentine's Day party with some girl friends and my only regret was not buying more. I wish I would have discovered this place while I was in school because it has a great atmosphere to study in and the coffee is phenomenal (although I did find coffee grounds in my cup once out of the 50+ times I've been). The owner is amazing and very hands on with her business - greeting customers and making sure everyone has a great experience so I hate the reviewer below me didn't feel welcomed. read more

This is my favorite local coffee shop! My new go-to is an americano, black, with a pump of caramel. Y'all, it's so smooth! It wouldn't be a review of Brew Ha Ha unless I mentioned the cake balls. They're heaven. Recently tried the cinnamon roll flavor for the first time and it was everything. I sometimes go here to study/do work, and it's a cozy local coffee shop. There are two different seating areas and plenty of outlets and free wifi. The main draws for me are the cake balls (try mint chocolate, yuuuum) - they are creamy on the inside and crunchy chocolate and sprinkles on the outside, and they come in a huge variety of flavors. Their frozen ha ha is also good for those with a sweet tooth (I like the mocha flavor). Another cute aspect is their mini library with books you can borrow and return. There is local art all over the walls, making the location vibrant and colorful. Plenty of seating outside adds to the multi-function aspect of this coffee shop, which seems to attract students and business people of various types, as well as locals coming to sit and chat. As far as I'm concerned, I probably wouldn't have their sandwiches again because I could make most of them at home for a little cheaper, but their coffee drinks and cake balls are well worth a visit! read more

First off, the young lady with the dreads was wonderful and accommodating. She acted like she actually liked the place and wasn't upset that there were actual customers. Thanks so much for being so sweet. 2 cups of coffee was almost 4 bucks. These were little 16 ouncers. But she was nice enough to top ours off before we left. The cake balls are bite size and over a buck each. A Hubigs pie is at least 6 bites and cost just about the same now. The space was nice and if the prices were lower, I'd like to go back. But they aren't so I probably won't...but I wish them all the luck and if they are very smart, they will give that girl more money. This was my second time going their and was not impressed with service. We walked in and was not greeted by cashier, Emily. She ask if we were ready and we said "not yet, still looking". Her response was "ok just tell me when your ready and walk away.".She came back and we had some questions about prices and was briefly and rudely answered. I'm definitely a fan of Brew Ha Ha and their delicious mini cake balls. They most certainly love up to their name "Baton Rouge Ballers." My favorite experience here to date was right after the Scotus marriage equity decision came out and BR was holding an equality rally and Brew Ha Ha stepped up and created some beautiful rainbow Equality Cake balls. Not only were they aesthetically pleasing to look at they were just as tasty. We also got some Wedding Cake balls and they were equally yummy. Paired with a piping hot cup of cafe au lait it was simply divine. I also appreciate the book section and the showcasing of local art and artists. They also hold artist events here and are really committed to the Baton Rouge community. I can dig it. read more

What a fun place! A little off the beaten path, doing its own thing. This quirky little cafe was treat to walk into. The funky decor was so interesting, even in the bathroom there was a chalkboard! The girls working there were very sweet and patient with my indecisiveness. And the coffee and bagel with cream cheese were fabulous! This is one of my favorite coffee shops ever, anywhere. It's way better than the place in "Twin Peaks;" but David Lynch could use the interior for a set. The walls are a gallery for local artists. The cool baristas serve a damn fine cup of coffee, cake balls, very fresh and toastable bagels, and sandwiches hot and cold. "The Asley" is a cold case of a BLT colliding with pepper jelly with astonishing momentum. I enjoy the Sunday evening open mike, too. read more

This is, by far, one of my favorite coffee shops in Baton Rouge. The ambiance is amazing: lots of funky local art on the wall and local jams, jellies, and other domestic products for sale. Their cake balls are the best I've ever had. My favorites are spice, chocolate mint, carmello, and funfetti, in that order. Their teas (especially the sports tea) are delicious. I have never tried their food food, but I've never heard a single complaint from anyone else about it. I'm not a big fan of their coffee as of late, because it's been a little on the bitter / burnt side, but that may just be me...or the barista at the time. Also, their internet connection can be fractious. I've had a leave a few times because I couldn't maintain a good connection, but that can be fixed easily by avoiding times of heavy traffic. All in all, I give Brew Ha Ha two thumbs up! read more

As far as places for coffee go, this place is great for meeting up with people. Their coffee menu is large enough to satisfy everybody -- even people who might prefer a frozen lemonade. I had the mocha haha frozen drink. (Yes, it was that warm on New Year's Eve.) It tasted delicious, definitely better value than the chain coffee shops around here. They also have a wide assortment of cake balls, which are like a very moist cake dipped in chocolate. And they taste fabulous. I had one German Chocolate and one peanut butter. The only part that has issues is the bathroom; it seems clean, but the smell needs to be addressed. An interesting man once told me, "I don't always visit a coffee establishment's restroom. But when I do, I expect it to smell like roses. Keep the Febreeze handy my friend." So, to recap: good place to meet up, good dessert balls. read more

Great local spot with friendly staff! I visited today and ordered an iced coffee and breakfast wrap (egg, mushrooms, spinach, peppers). Both were delicious! They have a full menu of sandwiches and other breakfast goodies as well as the typical bakery items. I noticed that they have expanded. I haven't enjoyed going here as much as I did in the past. The guy at the counter constantly playing with his fluffy hair and not washing his hands is a no no. The girl behind the counter with a crop top seems dangerous if she would have an accident. The "hipster nonchalant Attitude " is so overdone! They also need to be sure to practice safe food protocol, for one, do not just refill the milk container that has been sitting out, get a new one or wash it before refilling! We waited for weeks to try this Restuarant and looked forward to finding the perfect breakfast spot. While the Restuarant has much potential it needs much work. Wait staff while kind was not attentive or knowledgeable. Food: grits were lumpy, over medium eggs were served over hard, toast was served wheat not white as ordered and all food was served COLD. Bacon was cooked earlier and hard. Most discerning... Was the fact that iced tea is not readily brewed and the server did not realize that a tea bag could be used to make ice tea. Instead she said plain black iced tea was not available. What??? Isn't this south Louisiana! And sadly coffee was not ready... We had to wait for it to brew. These comments are not at all meant to be negative but rather issues to consider for improvement. The location and concept for the restaurant is good. Please work to make improvements. read more

What a gem! I heard nothing but good things about this place and had to check it out. The space is open and bright, with a cozy feel. Its perfect for a solo study session or catching up with friends. The staff was very friendly. The have a vast drink menu, and have great options for both breakfast and lunch. My friend lived her grilled cheese with pesto, and I opted to make my own sandwich. My avocado was fresh and creamy, and the bread had just the right combo of soft and crunchy. I have a confession to make. What really sold me on this place, was the cake balls. They don't just have a flavor or two. Whether you crave sweet, salty, fruity, or chocolate, they have something for you! I loved the oreo and confetti cake balls.
