One of my fav dessert shops!! Love that everything is fresh, made daily & friendly owner/staff! Would recommend salted chocolate chip every time!

You just can't beat a LOCAL, woman owned small business! Go to social media and read the owner's story. She ups the bar for your sweet treats! First, the location is adorable with more edits to come. There is free WIFI, plugs, quiet areas, and clean seating. She also offers the space for meet ups, classes, and events. Looking for a cake? Check out the offerings on the website as well as her policies on ordering and paying. Don't be "that person" who orders and never shows - you'll just miss out! Next, hungry to start your day? Drop in for homemade biscuits, homemade pimento cheese, breakfast tacos with homemade pico, gluten free homemade tortillas, vegan options, take and bake cinnamon rolls, and MANY other surprises! Need a sweet kick? RUN, not walk, RUN and get the salted chocolate chip cookies.... seriously and you're welcome. It will turn the worst day into a gooey day of pure sunshine. She also has brownies, unicorn bars, and many other daily treats. Dietary restrictions? You're set - there are gluten free and vegan options daily. Check Instagram for the daily specials. Need coffee? One of their employees also has a coffee business and they use her stuff - hot brew, cold brew, also lemonade and other specials. There are syrups that are homemade too. Nothing fancy, (there's another amazing local woman owned coffee shop nearby if you want some out of the ordinary coffee choice after you've grabbed your goods here.) Friendly employees, delicious food, welcoming space, and support a local family! You simply cannot go wrong!

Egg bacon and cheese biscuit sandwich, and three delicious muffins

First time stopping at this business. Staff is super friendly. Nice clean grab and go food store that serves primarily breakfast sandwiches and snacks. They do catering and have some fancy muffins cookies croissants etc. They're open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and on a very convenient location on government street if you work downtown. Highly recommend you stop by to get something for breakfast and a cup of coffee or tea while you're heading into work. They do have a few tables inside with seating if you want to eat there as well

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

Instead, I was trying to meet a friend for lunch and he was so late that we couldn't get in where were trying to go. I saw the sign and off we went to Simple Joe Cafe. Simple, it is. Awesome food, it also is. This place is not fancy nor is it meant to be. This is a solidly Americana type menu and ordering at the counter, serving your own coffee, and picking your own table kind of place. AKA - the kind of place I love. I have been here a few times now and only had breakfast. Hint: they serve it all day. The two meat omelet is a great choice and has been my go-to. The other day some friends got burgers and a club sandwich and those looked great too. This will definitely be in the rotation for lunch.

We arrived on a Sunday at 11:45am. So right in the middle of the brunch rush. We were quoted a35 minute wait but was seated sooner. We ordered lunch. I got the chicken pot pie my partner got the bbq bayou burger and we split an order of the crawfish pie with red beans and rice. Both plates were served with a salad. Service was great! Jack was our server. He made some excellent recommendations!! The chicken pot pie had a kick to if so fyi....Everything was delicious!! Turns out we got and order of the boudin pie instead of the crawfish pie but it was delicious! He did bring us out a crawfish pie to try (not pictured) and it was also excellent!! The red beans and rice were the best I've had. And I've done a red beans and rice tour in NOLA and this was the best I've had!! We rounded out our meal with the Eye of the Tiger pie. And holey moley!!! The best finish to our meal!! They also have a great craft beer selection on draft. The only downside to this place is the parking is not great and there are only two bathrooms that are unisex. But heck....I'll be back every time I visit BR!!

Haylen was our server and did an excellent job, very attentive, and all of the food came out incredibly fast. I ordered the hot sausage biscuit with cheese grits, simple but absolutely delicious. The food prices were very affordable too, which is a huge plus in this economy. The space was cozy and charming, almost like dining inside an antique shop. Overall, a great experience, and I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu.

They accidentally added regular toast to her plate, but a staff member (who wasn't even our server) noticed immediately, pointed it out, and took it back to get her a gluten-safe replacement. He was incredibly kind and genuinely caring, which meant a lot, because most places don't notice or don't take it seriously. Our food was great and the overall service was excellent. The restaurant was also clean (including the floors not sticky, which is a win). I really appreciate that they offer gluten-free options and actually pay attention. I'll definitely be back to this location.

Let me start by saying it had been a while since I came back to this restaurant, and now I remember…read morewhy. The service was unfriendly, the food was overpriced, and the overall experience was disappointing from start to finish. We had a party of six and were charged a "large party fee," which would have been fine if it had been explained upfront. Then there was an additional fee just for using a card. I ordered the table beignets, and they tasted more like fried biscuits than the beignets they used to serve. My son ordered a chicken waffle and was asked if he wanted bacon(2pc) on the side, assuming it came with the meal, only to later find out it was an extra charge that was never explained. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which used to be my favorite dish here, and it was terrible. The only flavor was Worcestershire sauce and green onions. Nothing about it tasted fresh or balanced. The restaurant itself was not clean. The floors were sticky, and the tables were so wobbly our drinks kept sloshing out. We finally had to shove napkins under the table leg just to keep it stable. To top it off, we never received one of the drinks we ordered or the extra bread we asked for. For just me and my son to eat brunch, the bill came to over $72. I truly hate leaving bad reviews, but between the poor attitudes, dirty floors, lack of service, surprise fees, and bad food, this place earned it. There are too many better brunch spots in Baton Rouge to waste your money here. And one last thing -- if you're going to charge a party fee, charge it fairly across the table instead of sticking certain people with more because they ordered more food. Do better.
