    Brew cycle Halloween night! Boo!
    Roger M.

What a hootenanny evening pedaling up, down and around the Pearl and Alphabet Districts on the big bad bodacious Brew Cycle on Halloween night. Boo! It was a little creepy and spooky, so misty and drizzly Halloween night. Boo! We were cranking our butts off or not (some seats require no pedaling). I was wearing orange and black, my varsity, high school sweater and my wife was my girlfriend wearing my varsity jacket--- dare I say from 1970. All in costume, there was Batman & Robin, Superman, 3-eyed golden girl, 3 vampires dressed alike (all friends who grew up together in India), 2 hilarious Minions and other ghoulish fun peeps! So we did the "Monster Mash" and pedaled off to party at 3 breweries for more fun, games and beer and beer. We went with friends we knew and connected along the way with all--cuz all had one thing in mind this macabre night--to "Party On!" Lucky Lab was beer, pizza and getting to know you better time. McMenamins on 23rd was beer, shuffleboard and spirited chit-chat. After more beer and singing "Go Gail, Go Gail" and more crazy talk and laughs, time to board the Brew Cycle one last time. Now picture us all leaving Bridgeport Brewery while pedaling in the Pearl Alley and waving our arms back and forth and singing loudy! Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, hey hey, goodbye! We did draw attention. Peeps on the streets waved and yelled. Cars beeped beep beep! Tons of fun! Don't let the rain stop you! Brew cycle is a hootenanny on wheels! Singin! Dancin on the pedals! Partyin! Gimme more! And we did the mash! The monster mash, it was a graveyard...brew cycle...and brew...smash! Let the good times roll on Brew Cycle!

During our visit to Portland everyone seemed to talk about this BrewCycle program where you sit on a giant bicycle with 14 other people and ride around Portland visiting different breweries. We got lucky and booked the last two seats for an 11:30 AM ride. The meet up location was at a brewery called Back Pedal, and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a lovely young lady by the name of Janet. She informed us a little bit about what we were about to expect and minutes later she told us to meet outside where we can sit on the bike. The greatest part of this whole thing was getting on and off the bike, each time was an experience of its own. As soon as we hit the road Janet put on some amazing songs and was a great cheerleader for us to pedal faster. Riding around the streets of Old Portland was so much fun. We got to see old historic buildings and streets along with some interesting people that kept waving and filming us. We finally got to the first brewery and it was so interesting. The beers were only $4.00 and each time we stopped everyone started mingling and getting to know each other. We had about 25 minutes at the first stop. After a couple of beers we hopped back on the bike and went to the second location. We had the absolute best time listening to great music and laughing while pedaling through the streets. The second location was an old historic building and it had turned into a pizzeria. We had some interesting flavored beers and got to know people that were with us in the group who actually live in Portland. They told us some really cool facts about the city and some amazing recommendations for restaurants. By this time it was safe to say that we were all a bit buzzed. 25 minutes later we were back on the bike and headed to the third location. As we kept peddling we would see more and more people getting excited to see us riding through town with loud music. Finally arrive to the third and final location and I had one of the best beers I've ever had: grapefruit IPA. It was so citrusy yet bitter m yet refreshing all at the same time. After a short amount of time there we had to come back to where we started and we were all a bit sad because we did not want this tour to end. So much so that we spent about 10 minutes outside just taking photos as a group with the one and only amazing Janet. Special thanks to Janet and Andrea for organizing tours as much as fun as this one and for showing all of us a great time and keeping us safe while doing so.

This was so much fun! We chose a 6 person triple threat route to celebrate my 21st birthday with family. Our guide was Sam, we all loved her. I was hesitant because we weren't on a big cycle, but the 6 person bike was faster so we had more time at each stop, plus it was less cycling work for us all-- haha! We stopped at a brewery, cider house, and a place known for their whiskey. Loved them all. Brewcycle is a must do in Portland! We think we're going to make it an annual family outing

So it was raining, didn't stop the energy of 13 people pedaling thru portland oregon. Me and 3 of my friends had the pleasure of trying out the brewcycle. We stopped at three breweries on this adventure, ten other people joined us for this adventure. Pedaling full speed by yourself does not make you go any faster keep the pace with everyone else if you do your pedals will go loose so catch up. The group consisted of a fellow from Austrialia, and the rest of the group from LA. We sample and pulled off to 3 separate breweries, 1st brewery did have a dark beer similar to guiness, the second brewery was a combo bar/pizza shop, the last bar was brewery/restaurant. In between each bar was about 15min of biking each, nothing really uphill until we headed back to the base. The establishment actually offers you a brew of their home blends and 3-4 local blends from other spots. The experience was worth the $30 per person. They did offer an aux cable to plug in your phone each time we would bike. So total 4 djs between the 3 stops. The guide was surprisingly from the bay and didn't mind that we played some too short on our way to the 3rd bar! He seemed nice he did know the words to the whole song haha!! Definitely something to try when you are in the area, down a brew then work it off to the next spot works out perfectly haha Breweries *** Price $$ you have to pay to sample at each brewery Service **** very friendly staff, would be nice if they threw in some key notes of areas we are biking thru or places to visit Ambiance **** whats not to like your outside, excercising, then downing beers

Such a fantastic way to check out some of Portland's local breweries! If you get there early, you also can head over to the Back Pedal Brewery tap room and try some of the brews they have before you start your tour (carb loading, anyone?) My boyfriend and I signed up for the NorthWest Route and Eric was our brewtour guide. We initially signed up for the 12:30pm tour but due to low numbers, we were asked if we could switch do the 3:30 time. No prob for us- we're on vacation! We were with a group with some young bucks who were in Portland for a bachelor party. We Eric was a fantastic tour guide as he was really laid back, knowledgeable of the area, and was helpful at giving suggestions of what beers to try at the 3 stops- Lucky Lab, Lompoc, and BridgePort. Eric was open to one of the bikers DJing, which naturally I volunteered, and we were able to sing along to the beibs as we biked from one place to the next. Eric even shared some of his delicious chocolate and chips with us- such a stand up guy! I'm sure other bike-beer tours in the area are great, but if you're looking for an incredibly fun and unique experience this is the way to go!!

i had a great time! it's easy to make friends even when you are by yourself - i guess when you are lucky to be paired up with a group of fun people who are willing to adopt you! i'd recommend for anyone whose new/visiting Portland and like to bar crawls... be warned though - you do need to do all the works! the 'driver' is just there to make sure you are paddling towards the right direction - which is good i guess, you get to drink, have fun, and do some cardio! it's located at the back pedal brewing - which is a legit brewery too, so get there early and grab a beer there before your trip!

My friends and I decided to do this tour last minute! Luckily for us, we were able to book a tour the same night on a Saturday. The only one left was the Northwest Route at 6pm. We were hoping to do an earlier tour, but it's actually quite fun biking at night! We had a really fun group and a great tour guide. We biked to 3 places and every time, we switched seats because some seats don't have a pedal. It's a pretty slow ride, like walking pace, so I don't think helmets are necessary (they don't provide it). We had about 25 minutes at each place. Even though we got stamps for discounts at places, I know one of the places we went to didn't accept the discount. I don't remember if the other 2 did. But coming from the Bay Area where the prices of drinks are 3 times the price of drinks here, I'm not complaining! I think it's a good experience! The first bike ride to the first brewery might be a little awkward, but when everyone warms up, it gets more fun! The ride back was the most fun, I think because everyone had a few drinks in them. They also ask what type of music you want to put on, and you can even put your phone music there! I think it's a unique experience to bike around together and experience some of the bars/breweries in Portland!

I went on the Brewcycle last night with my friend for her birthday and it was beyond FUN!! We were just visiting Portland for a few days and it was a great activity!! We showed up about an hour early and enjoyed some of their beers. The Pineapple Beer was AMAZING! Taylor was very informative and friendly. Lek was our Brewcycle driver and he kept us entertained the whole trip. We stopped at 3 breweries and were so lucky to have the BEST group! Since it was just us two we were a bit nervous about that, but we were all best friends by the end. If your thinking about doing this, DO IT! Well worth it and I'll definitely do it again next time in Portland. Thanks everyone :)

I had a lot of fun on this tour! Definitely a cool touristy thing I did with some friends while visiting Portland from the Bay Area. Basically, you pedal around in this 13 seater bike to downtown breweries with other beer enthusiasts?!?! Sure? Take my $30! In reality, it's more of a bike rental than a tour. It would have been awesome if our guide actually spoke about the city, spoke about the locations we were going to, spoke about the local beer scene, spoke about anything. We'd bike to one of our stops and our guide wouldn't even go inside until it was time to tell us to bike to the next stop. We did the Old town tour. One stop was legit, the other two were OK. We basically biked a rectangle and pretty walkable if you wanted to. 1. Pints - More like a small bar 2. Old Town Brewery - More of a pizza shop that just has beers on tap. 3. Fat Heads Brewery - Best stop of the day. Huge brewery, great taps, plenty of selection of local beers. The downtown brewery scene is insane. You have two breweries literally next door to where you start your "tour" at. The highlight of the day, we had this fellow from Australia (super hipster with a handlebar mustache) and when it was his turn to play DJ getting handed the aux cord, he played some random Aussie ballad songs. He was jamming but our whole group just kinda looked at each other all wtf and laughed. Fun peeps, fun ride even though it was rainy, had some beer at some cool places, I just see some room for improvement.

We met at Rogue brewing where our first drink was purchased for us. Then we sat down outside and chatted with Todd a bit. He went through some good history of Rogue brewing and shared some cool stories with us and a few photos. Todd was very down to earth and easy to talk with. Since it was just the 3 of us on this adventure, he offered to take us around to places that sounded interesting to us. He mentioned a sour beer brewery close by, so we wandered that way to sample a few of their sour beers. While we were sipping on our drinks, he started sharing more stories with us about some real life unsolved mysteries related to Portland which was really cool to hear. He walked us around the neighborhood and gave us some fun facts about the new builds and the Belmont goats! We also learned about some of the street art and murals. I really liked the BotJoy art and enjoyed seeing the cool robots around the city! We walked around to hear about the Hawthorn Asylum which was burned down and now there is a nice little food cart station in that area which was nice to walk through and see the food options. We made it to a few other bars and tried some more drinks while also hearing stories about UFO's and Bigfoot! I loved these stories! Honestly, this walking tour was just what I needed. I learned so much about Portland and all the nice drinks and things to do in the area. Todd was really friendly and helpful. You might see some kids during the day. What a cool place, with yummy drinks (no food), and all my favorite arcade games, and then some! They operate on a card system, so no coins needed when you visit. My pinball wizard friend had been traveling arcade ready with coins in her bag, but it turns out they weren't needed. Ground Kontrol supplies free lockers to store your stuff; just follow the instructions and don't forget your code. I learned a lot about pinball during my visits here, and played more pinball than I usually do because of that. I mean, why not? I played one of the newest pinball games, released within weeks of my visit, which was Pokemon themed, and I played one of the more vintage pinball machines, Xenon. And everything in between! It was awesome. $20 loaded onto a card will get you 15ish games, but there is a different cost depending on which game you're playing. I was satisfied with the value and would, and did! come back again. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area!
