Five Stars Isn't Enough! If I could give more than five stars to Brewed Awakening - I absolutely would! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel like family -- not just customers. You can truly feel the heart behind this place. Now let's talk about the food... WOW. The gluten-free chocolate chip waffles were hands down some of the best I've ever had -- perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and loaded with melty chocolate chips. You would never even know they're gluten-free. Absolute perfection! And the hot chocolate? Rich, creamy, and comforting -- the kind that instantly makes your day better. What really set this experience apart was their generosity. The owners even gave us a complimentary sample meal to try, which was such an unexpected and thoughtful touch. Food: very good Service: excellent Ambience: good just like the local cafe it is I am a fan of brewed awakening not because it has the best food, or the best ambience or any thing fancy. I like it because it what a local cafe in a small town is suppose to be. The staff here is super friendly and kind, the place usually has a few locals sitting and chatting and it offers a fairly large variety of items. I often stop here for my morning fix of coffee since it is so near the train station. The coffee is not the best but better than what you find in any other place around here. I have also come here for breakfast on multiple occasions and I love the number 18 omelette with turkey bacon and jalapeños. I am also fan of the turkey bacon blt. I have never tried them but I hear that their pancakes are awesome as well. So if you are looking for "sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came" kind of place this is it :) read more

We visited Brewed Awakening on a Monday morning over Memorial Day weekend, and unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. The place was understandably busy, but the wait to get seated was longer than expected, and they seemed a bit understaffed, which may have contributed to the slow service. Once we were seated, it took a while for our food to arrive, likely due to what appears to be a small kitchen setup. One frustrating detail was that we were charged extra for toast, even though the menu said it was supposed to be included. These small inconsistencies really impacted the overall experience. The vibe and buzz around the place seem to be what draws people in, but in our experience, the service and efficiency didn't match the expectations. It felt more like style over substance. I came in for breakfast with my family (party of 4), and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. We were seated without menus or silverware, and the person taking our order seemed completely clueless. After placing our order, we never saw the waitress again. The food had extra seasoning that wasn't mentioned or requested, and an additional item we ordered came out long before the rest of our food. It was also frustrating that it took 15 minutes just to get a Coke. The only positive was the gentleman in the baseball cap, who seemed to be the only one working hard to keep things running. Visited Brewed Awakening in Metuchen with a few girlfriends, and we absolutely loved it! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Belen, who was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Her recommendations for both food and drinks were spot-on--everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service made us feel right at home. We loved it so much, we went back two days later for breakfast--and to our delight, Belen remembered us and welcomed us back with the same warmth that made us smile the first time. Came in around 2pm. Few patrons, not too busy. Went to the counter, was told to sit down to order. Sat for 10 minutes, no one came to take our order. Signaled to bring the menus over. Finally one of the workers brought some menus. We were decided within 2 minutes. Waited another 5 minutes, no one came over. We went up to the counter and was told to sit back down to order. Again no one came to take our order. Lady at the front did not make any eye contact with us, busy counting her money. Eventually we got fed up and left. Zero customer service. So... This place is an interesting case study. The shop is kinda blah looking - nothing impressive - the service is average as far as wait time for your order but the staff is extremely friendly! Now the food - we stopped here for lunch while in town for a conference. We ordered 3 different paninis for the table the turkey Brie, the prosutto & the Pisa. They were all fantastic the food was just so delicious. I highly recommend stopping here to grab a bite! read more

I went there for breakfast today and I was horrified. The girl behind the counter kept coughing with an open mouth. I was about to leave when I saw she coughed in somebody elses coffee and not mine. Walked in, was not at all busy. The woman at the counter told us to sit down to order. Sat for 10 minutes, one of the waiters/ baristas dropped off the menus and disappeared. Waited another 10 minutes then walked up to the counter to order, and again the same woman told us to sit down to order. Sat down, waited another 5-10 minutes and left. This place is great. Atmosphere is laid back. The food is made on one little grill so sometimes it can take a while if you're there on a busy day, but it's worth it everything tastes very home made. Never had a problem with flies like some of the other reviews are saying... The coffee is absolutely the best part. read more
