This restaurant tends to get crowded for brunch so try to make reservations if possible. There are so many different things to try so I would suggest sharing with your group. The Spanish and brunch crossovers are one of a kind. If I were to suggest one dish, it would be the French toast. It was one of the best I've had. We tried their new, bigger, space midweek, on a Wednesday at about 10AM, so it wasn't busy. We were seated immediately and within a few minutes placed our order; the waitress was helpful and seemed to know the menu well. When our food arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was beautiful. The avocado toast was just spectacular (see photos) and the cappucino had a cool design in the foam. The second thing I noticed was that my egg white omelette was bright yellow. Um, really? So the waitress returned it to the kitchen, and brought back my toast to eat while I waited for the new omelette. Really???? I watched as my breakfast partner enjoyed her avocado toast, and as my toast got cold. After my partner had finished her breakfast, my omelette arrived, and I had to request fresh toast. My omelette their "Best Green" was mediocre at best. My partner's avocado toast was good. The coffees were OK. If the waitress had been decent, and had some common sense, I *may* have rated 4 stars. But my experience was 1) mediocre food, 2) less than adequate server, and 3) outrageously expensive breakfast. Will I try Maria's Brunch again? Maybe, just maybe. read more

I went to the new location on Central Ave. it is a bigger space than Durham, but I'm not quite sure the staff can handle it yet. No water refills, waiting a super long time for the waiter to come around so we could ask for the check so I had to go to the front to ask someone. The food was okay. Big portions, but nothing we ordered was special. Wish the chicken and waffle used dark meat. Avocado eggsplosion was also just ok. My lavender haze iced matcha drink was probably the best thing. I would probably come back to try some other dishes. Some people around us had a giant dish with chorizo and things that looked good, so I may have to try that. read more

First time trying this place with a group of 8 and it was really solid. Service was good and we never felt rushed. Really nice variety huge menu. The French toast was absolutely delicious and the tiramisu latte was also great. The burrito mex was ok but it absolutely fell apart and was really hard to eat, I'd try something else as my main next time. Would come back for sure though definitely worth the price read more

I've reviewed Maria's before and I'm returning to race avoid the Avocroissant dish. Every now and then I come across a dish that I'll be thinking about for some time, this was one of those dishes for me. Everything was super fresh! The croissant was super soft and topped with avocado, cheese, eggs, and bacon. The pesto on the side was amazing. I paired my dish with home fries and a sugar cookie latte. The location is small so there's always a wait (understandably). We were pleasantly surprised when our 45 minute wait time was only about 20. The service was super friendly and efficient. Came here on a Friday morning with the Mystery man for breakfast. First let me start off by saying it was packed lol! I already knew it was going to be good just based on there being no parking spaces left in the lot! We walked in after parking on the street. There was a tiny table in the middle left & we were fortunate enough to be seated immediately. Service was fantastic. Our waiter was wonderful & very attentive & answered any questions we had. I enjoyed my huevos rancheros & iced Strawberry matcha latte. My darling husband, opted for a chicken, egg, waffle sandwich which was right up his alley. He enjoyed along with his iced churro latte. The food was incredible & we would certainly come back. It was a nice little cafe ambiance. There was decent seating throughout but imagine it would be very busy on the weekends but they do a great job moving very quickly so I don't think the wait is too long. What a find! We found this place after a long search when in town and not finding what I wanted in a diner. Maria's brunch is located near downtown Metuchen and is truly a gem. A smaller parking lot so you may need to find street parking and don't be surprised if there is a wait. Truly worth the wait thought. Inside you will find a cozy little cafe style dining room. I appreciated that they have unlimited regular coffee and as I saw signature lattes going by they looked great as well. They have an extensive menu with a wide array of options and one thing of note is you can order sides so I ordered some eggs scrambled as that wasn't listed in the menu. These were some of the best textured pancakes I have eaten in a while as they are so fluffy and smooth. These cheesecake bites in between were great touch and this does not need any syrup as the strawberry compote is delicious. Definitely will be back again! read more

They are extremely insistent that the whole party must be present to be sat, so be aware of that. There were several interesting brunch options. My party of 6 was able to be accommodated without a reservation on a Sunday to outdoor seating in August which was fine because inside was very crowded and loud anyway. We enjoyed our time catching up with old friends and were not rushed. This place also has the best pancakes I've had at a restaurant with crispy edges and the perfect fluffiness (and I'm a HUGE pancake critic so I took a risk here). But well worth it! Cute little spot in Metuchen. It was packed. You can get on the waitlist over the phone. I was told it was a 2 hour wait but to show up 30 min prior. We showed up at 1:30pm and there was 1 empty table. We still waited about 15 minutes and they gave us the empty table. We ordered the chorizo special. And the Dubai waffles. Everything was delicious. Maria's Brunch in Metuchen is such a cute and cozy spot, definitely worth the visit. I went recently and had the Thrilled Cheese with the Tomato Basil Soup and I'm still thinking about it. The sandwich was perfectly crispy and cheesy, and the soup was so flavorful and comforting. Together, it was the best combo: simple but done so well. The whole vibe of the place is really warm and welcoming. Our waiter, Nic, was so sweet and attentive. He made us feel right at home and gave great recommendations too. When I walked in, that staff was very friendly and cleaned a table quickly for me and got me seated as soon as one was available. They were also very quick with taking my order and getting my check after I was done. That swiftness was much appreciated considering I was grabbing lunch in between classes at college. The prices for the specialty sandwiches were also very affordable for the amount of sandwich I ended up getting! Now, the bread was a little dry and the sandwich didn't hold together all that greatly, but I wouldn't call it a bad meal, and it was certainly filling. Also, comparing the menu to the one from 2 years ago, I can say that the prices haven't changed (at least for the specialty sandwiches), which is very nice to see. My wife ordered the waffle sandwich and was a bit disappointed. The piece of fried chicken tasted like a defrosted tender and the hash browns followed suit. The waffle was okay, but needed to be firmer. My son loved his, but that's the difference between a 4 year old and mom! Just finished up a early morning appointment & they came up in yelp so we went for breakfast. Staff were extremely courteous. Location was clean, comfortably & surprisingly cold on a very super hot morning. Decent coffee & fresh squeezed orange juice. Other diners wwere pleasant & seem like local regular. The Blueberry Bloom Waffle was 11/10 fantastic & satiated my craving for a fresh bake pastry. The Burrata Verde Sandwich was 9/10 , outside of the bread, the chicken with its breading was soft, fresh & very flavorful, the cherry tomato & greens with the mozzarella & the other cheese made for a perfect sandwich, I don't know if the ciabatta was old or everything was so good on the sandwich & the bread was just average but I would still have it again. We came here on a Tuesday morning based on the Yelp recommendations. We didn't realize until we were almost there that they took over Hatch 44's old location. It was a pleasant surprise due to us really enjoying our time here when it was Hatch 44. Even though it's the same location, things look completely different. I feel like the new set up of the tables now make it look more spacious and bare than before. Just an observation, nothing good or bad either way. What we ordered: - Tres Leches Pancakes $14.95 (Pancakes infused with our homemade tres leches mix, topped with Mexican cake cream, pecans, & your choice of strawberries or peaches, we chose strawberries) - Eggs Benedict $12.95 (Served with Fresh Fruit or special house salad, we chose fresh fruit) - Club Sandwich # 2 $12.95 (Roasted Turkey and Bacon) - Hot Chocolate $2.50 - Iced Coffee $3.00 Only issue we came across was there was no mayo on our club sandwich, making it so dry since I order my sandwiches with no tomatoes. (I know, bad choice by me lol). We had to flag down the waitress to ask for some and she seemed confused or annoyed about that request.
