In addition to being wonton wrapped it was almost like they were battered, but very dryly so there was a dust or powder on the outside that was kind of unpleasant. If this is a permanent change in style I wouldn't get them again. I really enjoyed the potato pancakes. They were clearly homemade and had some nice crispy edges. I appreciate that they came with both syrup and applesauce by default because I will always ask for syrup for my potato pancakes and having applesauce too is a bonus. I'd venture that most places that serve perch do it with beer batter. Having it breaded with cornmeal was certainly different. I don't think the breading accentuated the flavor of the perch like beer batter does and maybe even covered it up more than I would have liked, but I enjoyed the crispiness it achieved. The menu didn't specify lake perch or yellow perch, so I was expecting something cheaper like pike perch when it said the meal came with five pieces. Instead, it was yellow perch, which is fantastic, but I find it odd they give you two and a half butterflies instead of a full three. Raise the price a little if you need to and give us the full third butterfly.
