    Fried Mushroom App

Was in the area and thought we would pop in with no reservation and we were happy to find out that they could get us in on a busy Saturday night. Drinks were tasty, and the pickled mushrooms are handmade! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the ambiance was perfection. We sat upstairs and it felt very private. We both got the prime rib and it was one of the best I've ever had. Got the fried mushrooms as the app, and while I didn't favor the sauce they came with, we asked for ranch and that was great! I will be back!!

Really hate to do this review, but I want to give others an honest review. Visiting from out of state and picked this place for dinner based on YELP reviews and photos. We had such high hopes after the high quality drinks at the bar. The atmosphere is impressive until the take you back to the dining area where the tables/chairs are too tightly spaced and the lights are so dim it's impossible to read the menu without using the light on your cell phone. All of my food pics required flash. The wife ordered the walleye fish and I ordered a medium ribeye. The inside of the steak was corrected, but the excessive black char and gristle made it impossible to enjoy/finish. Second worst steak I can remember ever having in a restaurant. So if you want a great place for drinks come here but don't stay for dinner.

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but once you get inside, there is a quaint hometown atmosphere that is super nice. The restaurant was busy but we got in and served quickly. The is lots of support staff to help and all are very friendly. Dinner was excellent all the way around for all 6 of us. Dinners included soup and salad. The schnitzel was exceptional, chicken parmigiana, veal siciliano and filet. From all accounts all the entrees were delicious and Old Fashions were tasty. We'll be back!

We stopped by the little red inn for a random Saturday night. It's a local favorite and is recommended often. The restaurant was lively, but not too loud. I would say that it is a family-friendly restaurant. It gets busy so we were told to make a reservation. Our waitress came over right and told us about the specials on the menu. I started with the pomegranate martini ... these were so good. After drinks, we started on the escargot served in a butter sauce with breadsticks. My husband enjoyed these and the portion was generous. Our meals came with soup and salad, I did not get a chance to take a picture but they make their blue cheese in-house and it was the best I've ever had. The French onion soup was on the salty side for me but this could be a fluke. I will give it another try on the next visit. We stuck with what we knew ... I got the boneless ribeye medium well and my husband got the king tut ribeye ... he had plenty to take home! Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it.

Food here is good, the Friday fish is always served fast and the weekend prime rib was also a hit.

JJ's On The Bend posts frequently in a local restaurant social media group I'm in, so I've known of…read morethem since they opened a couple years ago in the location that used to belong to The Wedge. They're a little farther out than I usually go for a fish fry, but I had time on this particular day and wanted to give them a shot. I ordered the Baja breaded fish with homemade chips and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The fish fry comes with a side of mac and cheese too. The mozzarella sticks are an incredibly good value. Not too many places sell the awesome wonton wrapped kind that's also battered and it was surprisingly six sticks for only $8. I hope for every customer's sake they don't realize the mozzarella sticks are undervalued and raise the price or change what kind of sticks they serve. When I called to place my order I asked what the Baja breading was and was told that it wasn't spicy, but it added some flavor. You could have fooled me cause both the breading and seasoning had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Additionally, the fish was DRY. It's not often that I choose to not eat the fish I order, but this was one of those rare instances. The homemade chips were good. A couple pieces stuck together when they were fried so not every piece was super crunchy, but close to it. The cheese sauce for the mac and cheese was flavorless, yellowish-orange paste that weirdly had more heat due to specks of pepper than the Baja seasoning on the fish had. I was excited that my meal came with mac and cheese, but ate only a couple bites before giving up like I did with the fish. JJ's is cash only. I don't know if they have an ATM on site as I had cash with me and didn't need to look for or ask about an ATM. Though the mozzarella sticks were great, the fish being so bad is why I'm leaving a 3 out of 5 for my review.

I had a coupon for Lucky Shotz and it was a Friday night in Wisconsin, so stopping in for a fish…read morefry just made sense. I got mozzarella logs for an appetizer and went with perch and potato pancakes for the entree. The menu says the mozzarella logs were Italian breaded, but my waitress informed me that they instead had wonton style. In addition to being wonton wrapped it was almost like they were battered, but very dryly so there was a dust or powder on the outside that was kind of unpleasant. If this is a permanent change in style I wouldn't get them again. I really enjoyed the potato pancakes. They were clearly homemade and had some nice crispy edges. I appreciate that they came with both syrup and applesauce by default because I will always ask for syrup for my potato pancakes and having applesauce too is a bonus. I'd venture that most places that serve perch do it with beer batter. Having it breaded with cornmeal was certainly different. I don't think the breading accentuated the flavor of the perch like beer batter does and maybe even covered it up more than I would have liked, but I enjoyed the crispiness it achieved. The menu didn't specify lake perch or yellow perch, so I was expecting something cheaper like pike perch when it said the meal came with five pieces. Instead, it was yellow perch, which is fantastic, but I find it odd they give you two and a half butterflies instead of a full three. Raise the price a little if you need to and give us the full third butterfly.
