Brewers Landing We love to go to Brewers Landing by boat. It is right on the water in Essex, Maryland and you are surrounded by nature on three sides. It is a casual, fun funky kind of place. There's plenty of car parking in the front and there are several jet, ski landing pads, and a pier with plenty of cleats for boat dockage. The draft (water depth) into and out of the cover is shallow outside of the channel so be certain to stay inside of the markers. We have gone there for brunch on Sunday mornings several times. The food is so good in the morning. Their breakfast menu has the full compliment of everything you might like for breakfast. We usually get omelettes and basically something similar to a grand slam breakfast. Breakfast is very fresh/cooked to order. Extremely reasonable prices for all of the food. Another thing we like to do is to visit Brewers Landing for the live music. It's usually pretty busy but we've never not been able to find a seat. Everyone is there listening to music, dancing and having a good time. You can get hot fresh steamed crabs or a pit beef sandwich like we did on the day that we went to see the band Experience. Their menu is extensive. The food is always very good. It's a casual, laid-back place, so it's not fine dining, but it's always good for an afternoon of fun. The staff is always friendly and it is always busy (the sign of a popular place with good food), but they hustle. Everything comes out as ordered in a relatively fast time. It's a great place to go if you love to watch sunsets on the water, too. Convenient to the 695 Beltway as well, you just get off at the Eastern Avenue exit and head towards Essex. Brewers is right on the water and one our favorite places to sit is outside at the tables by their tiki bar.. the setting sun as you eat their yummy crab cakes.. reasonably priced and friendly staff, they have a huge regular following.. This a very low key bar vibe spot, but it got the job done for what it needed to do. They have a decent outside patio area and a good amount of parking. The view was nice and you'd be able to see the sunset. I cannot comment on the food directly because I didnt eat, but they have plenty of bar food options and crabs that other people seemed to have enjoyed. Food is always amazingggg !!! Never had a bad experience here. Food is hot, very flavorful, and the prices and unbeatable !! Drinks are just as delicious and priced low. Me and fiancé and go here get an app, 2 meals 2 drinks and bill is less than 50$. Service is good even when they are busy, doesn't matter if you sit inside or outside the ladies here take good care of you. I even took my mama here and she loved it and she's not even a bar person. Very cool ambience and setup. Inside bar is decent and partially two-tiered. Our one server was awesome and on point but a few others weren't as attentive. They have an outside bar and lots of outdoor tables. Sandy area with some chairs too. Outdoor stage for bands is excellent. I would go back solely for their mussels! Ribs were not super meaty but were tender, fell off the bone, and had a great flavor. You can pull your boat up too! Might be tighter for some larger boats- but call and ask. read more

Remember folks, this is a rowdy dive bar on the water in Essex. If you want top service and a white tablecloth, you need to go downtown. We love Brewers Landing for what it is. You can get an icy bucket of beers and sit outside. The water views are nice. Indoors is all about the sports in the big screens. The food is good if a little heavy on the salt. In summer, they have a connection with a local waterman and you can't get fresher crabs as they come direct from the water. But don't expect crabs anytime. On a drizzly Friday evening, we headed to Brewer's Landing for a social gathering for the Harley Owners Group. It was disappointing that we could not sit out on the patio overlooking the water due to the weather. Nevertheless, the staff at Brewer's made us feel so welcome and took such excellent care of our large group of about 30. Brittany was the main server, and she was just incredible. How she managed to keep everyone and their drink and food order straight was beyond me. She did it effortlessly. The Seafood Club Wrap had my name on it. The wrap had a fried crab cake, shrimp salad, bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce & tomato. My husband really likes Cheese Steak subs, so that was what he ordered. Both came with chips and a pickle. We were very satisfied. Many in our group said the Friday Night Special of 10 Butterfly shrimp with one side was a steal at $7.99. We thought the food and service were terrific. Have not been here for at least a year and wanted to give it a try again. The noise level in the dining room gets to be too much from the bar when the doors are open, we had to close them. Would have given the rating 5 stars but for the noise. Hubby ordered the shrimp salad sandwich and I got the 1 lb steamed shrimp with onions. The food was really good, the shrimp (16-20's) came out fresh and steaming with red onions and an extra mini-cup of Old Bay. The sandwich had plenty of shrimp and the bread was fresh. We were impressed on how fast the server and service was. She was taking care of the bar along with the dining room. If you are looking for crabs, they'll be out around mid April. read more

Service was terrible. We waited over an hour to get our food. I had never experienced that problem before. The waitress forgot to submit it in and then didn't put a priority on it. This restaurant overcharged my account today (May 26, 2024) by $77.58. The gratuity was already included on the check and I was misled into tipping another 20% or so. Also, the final charge on my bill was over by about $50. I had to file a complaint with my bank for unauthorized charges. It was a terrible experience. Service gone down down down hill. Get a bucket and without being asked all of them are opened. Finish the bucket (you know it takes a bit) and still no one ever came to take food order or even ask a damn thing at all. And it' was in no way any kind of busy at all. A friend picked me up on a weekday afternoon and we drove to Baltimore County's shoreline. Stopped by a couple of waterfront destinations that were dead, as in no customers. He decided to take me to Brewer's Landing. We sat at a hightop table adjacent to the bar, which was packed. Our server handed us menus and my buddy asked for the Lunch Specials. Maybe 10 or so listed on a sheet for the ridiculously low price of $6 per item!! We ordered our drinks, non alcohol, diet Coke and iced tea. My friend ordered the cheesesteak and I fell for half pound bacon cheeseburger. I mean, for six bucks, what could possibly go wrong? My friend swears the cheesesteak is among the best anywhere. He should know as he's made them himself at a famous Baltimore County delly destination long ago. It was hot, delicious and just six bucks!! My burger, though very tasty with LTM, provolone and grilled onions, was slightly overcooked and fell right off the bun. Wound up eating with a fork. Not a game changer, but the waitress instinctively placed a couple of paper plates and cutlery at the table just in case we needed them. I did. Both items came with chips and a pickle wedge. No complaints. After eating we went outside to check out the beautiful waterfront facility they have. Having lived in Essex, I would come here only in the daylight as I'm familiar with the area at night. Regardless, I recommend Brewers Landing, at least, for lunch. Brewers landing was not good on today. Food was nasty and service wasn't good. We made our waiter aware and she had to get a manager. The manager was made aware of the situation which was one of the guys in our party food was nasty. In fact all of our seafood tasted bitter and no flavor. She proceeded to tell us that there's nothing going to be done about our situation, end of discussion. We had no problem with paying for our bill but when one person tells you that they haven't touched their food because it was gross it warrants attention. Long story short they told us nothing was going to be done and that he's just gonna have to pay for food he didn't eat and don't want. And to think combined our bill came up to almost 300 dollars. I'll never come here again for food or drinks. read more

I've been going to Brewers for the last 4 years, excellent bartenders, excellent food and great crabs. I've gotten crabs two times in the last week, they were meaty with really good mustard! But what really sets Brewers apart are the Bands, Friday nights (6-10), Saturdays (4-8) and Sunday too (2-6)! Yesterday's Band was Chesapeake Sons, Country Rock to Johnny Cash! Gentle man who worked there kept trying to roll up the awning while we were eating, and when we asked why he said "cause it's supposed to rain". Ok so we should get rained on while we eat??? In the past, I was not the biggest fan of this bar but some changes have been made at this spot and for the better. The tiki bar edition for one-like it! The crabs this year were not only the cheapest around but some of the best I had this season. I think they are getting away with the rowdy crowd on Fri and Sat nights and starting to cater to a more mature crowd on weekends, offering live outdoor music. The food portions are always good and unlike competing water bars in the area, they don't kill ya on prices. There are pool tables indoors and cornholes outside. I just wish they would add more of a craft beer selection...but THE BREW in Brewers is the owners last name, not a beer reference. Lol. I had a lot of fun there in 2020 despite the Covid restrictions in place. I am glad I didn't give up on them all together. read more

Worst food I've ever had. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap to go. When I got home I opened it up and took one bite and threw it away. It had sour tasting cheese( never had cheese on a buffalo chicken wrap ) and it was made with some sort of mystery chicken parts. They were dark and hard and looked like they had already been chewed. My beautiful lady and I returned to Brewers landing for maybe the the sixth time. We try to eat outside and usually you can. I would like to explains four stars. The food and Service is what you would expect from a bar and crab house. Our Maryland crab soup, soft shell crab sandwiches and steamed crabs were great. Our Sevice was slow but they were busy. Oh! Been going here for the last 11 years, The friendship and service has always been great. Food quality and drink prices are also great, They have improved the location some much over the last few years it make it a great place to hang up and eat with many things to do. (Outside eating area, Tike bar, Horse shoes, darts, pool tables, big screen TV's inside and out to watch games). They have a family area away from bar with good local crabs. I have traveled all over this country and have not found any Wings that are as good as their Sweet/ Chilly wings. Docks available too so visit by water. Definition of hole in the wall. Go earlier in the evening. A bunch of drug addicts and old redneck alcoholics show up as the sun begins to set. It's been a while since I've seen this many 55 year old wrinkly women with smokers cough wearing leather and thongs in the same place. I had a soft shelled crab sandwich that turned out to be damn good. Cheep drinks, interesting atmosphere, friendly staff, surprisingly good food. The low class Essex crowd run people out after dark so go early. Great water location out back. I would never let my girl come here alone or with girlfriends because she would most likely end up tied up in the trunk of an 87 cutlass or drugged and abused by Cletus and his gang of unemployed jean jacket models but this place is fun! read more

I'd like to start by saying that I was disgusted by the behavior of the service. For starters, we were told that they don't offer refills on any beverage because "that's what the owner wants and he pays my paycheck". The girls we saw were dressed in clothes that were too small for them, one actually popped out of her top and stuffed herself back in as she was reaching across our table for an empty plate. It was super classy. Food was carried out so in such a way that it often came uncomfortably close to armpits, and it made me wonder about health codes. While our burger was a good size, and under priced almost to insanity, it could have used more seasoning. In a different atmosphere, with a more welcoming environment, I'd return. Drive through a neighborhood to the end of the road, and you adventure upon a bar & grill, on the water. Very nice & clean. Friendly staff. Cute outdoor area with picnic tables, cornhole, bar, serene view of water. Happy Hour was in full force, with a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament in the back. Ordered bucket of beer and about 4 doz crabs with a party of 5. Delicious medum sized crabs. Meaty. Hot. Prompt service. Ordered take out, consisting of wings. Soooooo this bar...well, it's definitely a bar full of "locals." It was fine enough...a hole-in-the-wall for sure. I only give the one-star rating because there was one specific thing that'a not tolerable for me - it smelled like vomit. There was also a fight while I was there that was a little unsettling. So, upon several recommendations I made my first trip to Brewer's Landing Bar & Grill on Saturday around 5PM. We had called earlier in the day and made reservation for six people and specifically asked for a table outside (for the water view) The place is laid out in a way that you have the restaurant and outside water dining areas separated by a dark crowded biker type bar in the middle that you have to make your way through to get outside. After arriving and making my way through the thick Budweiser gulping crowd in the bar and walking outside, I noticed there was no hostess. After spending 12-15 minutes trying to chase someone down I finally got one of the heavily tattooed servers to inquire regarding our table. I was immediately told that "we don't take reservations for outside tables". I informed her that someone did earlier that day and she repeatedly stated that she didn't come in until 5PM and had nothing to do with it. To her credit she then went out of her way to help pull together a table and chairs for our party. I would rather not bore you with all the details but the bottom line is this. We specifically went there for steamed crabs upon recommendations. THE GOOD 1) The steamed crabs were very good and a "reasonable" value. 2) The setting on the water (if sitting outside) is very enjoyable and the sunset turned out to be fantastic. 3) The appetizers that we ordered were fairly good. (We did not order meals) 4) The cocktails were surprisingly OK for what I would have expected. THE BAD 1) The service throughout the entire night was terrible, terrible, terrible 2) Half (yes half) of the food that we ordered never showed up on the table at all! 3) For the first half of the evening I had two "gentlemen" standing next to our table chatting and they may have broken a world record for the most times anyone has said F*@K in 90 minutes. I'm talking like four or five times in each sentence! It was quite an impressive skill that must have taken years to develop. 4) I'm not sure how this place makes any money because it took 30 minutes to get a cocktail every time I requested one. Very strange. Anyway, you are interested in enjoying very good steamed crabs on the water in a nice setting with the fringe benefit of some very rare and spectacular verbal entertainment that you will not find anywhere, I cannot think of a better place to go.
