It's really unfortunate how the Brewery Gulch Inn has declined. I've stayed at this B&B several times over the past 20 years and the current (offsite and very distant) ownership group is quickly putting the final nail in the proverbial coffin. I'll start with the biggest issue. A total lack of transparency. When we booked our multi-nite stay, there was no notice of ongoing construction on the exterior deck AND the desk clerk said nothing about it when we checked in. The noise was off and on all day, including weekends. I'm not simply referring to hammering and sawing. The crew was playing music and SINGING along...right outside our windows. When we complained about this to 3 different desk clerks, all claimed ignorance and/or that they had "no control" over the situation". Similar situation during breakfast, when we were told they were out of 2-4 items on the menu EVERY morning. Regarding the menu, the entre descriptions were generally incorrect as what we were served never matched the entre description on the menu. Update the menu! The lack of communication among and between staff was remarkable and led to missed accommodations, confirmations or simply not getting a response at all. We learned quickly that we needed to tell every single staff member that we could find about any concern or question we had. Ridiculous. Regarding staff, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and simply assume that they are struggling, greatly, obtaining and/or retaining staff. The staff seemed very poorly trained on most functions, including basic customer service. They were pleasant, but uninformed often incapable, and totally unaccountable. This is a management issue, 100%. One of my fondest memories of the Brewery Gulch Inn has always been the setting and the current management is systematically destroying it. A casual look around the property, let alone a stroll, and you will see piles of debris, construction, or otherwise, dilapidated or decaying sitting areas, unkempt landscaping, and a general lack of attention. For those of us who remember the Brewery Gulch Inn from years past, this is one of the saddest parts of my review. On the positive/neutral side, the rooms are fairly well maintained (shower fixtures, light fixtures need attention), carpet is overdue for replacement). Housekeeping is attentive and thorough. For an Inn on the Mendocino coast that's charging upwards of $800-900 per night, depending on the room and season, it's shocking the entity that owns the Brewery Gulch Inn is allowing this to happen (and after talking with some other establishments in the area, I felt like the last to know). In summary, there are many locations to choose from in the area that provide a setting with service that match the price. The Brewery Gulch Inn is not one of them. Buyer beware. read more

Stayed last weekend at the Inn. Have been a regular guest for several years. Prior visits were always exceptional (5+ stars). This visit had issues/concerns with staff and room. Also, on this visit the food was not as good and there were some other issues. This place was not the same. I emailed Isabel (guest service manager) with detailed list of concerns and why the stay was not worth the price. Isabel sent a detailed response that seemed appropriate and areas they will be working on to bring the BGI back to a higher standard. I appreciated her sincere response. I hope this happens as this has always been such a special place to stay. I will give the BGI second chance down the road. read more

1. We were not notified of any possible construction during our stay PRIOR to arriving on our day of check in. I was told that because we were notified of the construction when we literally checked in at 3 PM on a Friday, we could have cancelled the day we arrived. So, we were supposed to then try to locate 4 rooms (our entire party of 8) at another establishment the day of our check in? This is egregious and shady and clearly the ownership has their own interest of earning cash as their priority, NOT the guest experience. Photos of the construction from our room attached as well as a video but of the constant noise. 2. When I complained that the noise of the construction was way too loud on Saturday 7/18 at 2:30 PM (after we just dealt with the noise Friday, AND the loud music the workers were playing, and singing to) I was told that the noise from the tools would cease within ten minutes. That was a lie as it continued well past 5:30 PM that evening. 3. One week prior to our check in date, I requested a massage appointment via the BGI inquiry. I was never contacted. I then called the Wednesday prior to check on the status of the massage appointment request. I received a return call on Thursday 7/16 and the woman actually said "we never received the online inquiry, we're not sure where all those emails are going. I'll find out what is going on and then call you back." After she asked me my preferred spa treatment and date/time, we hung up. I never received a return call. I also never heard anything from anyone regarding the spa appointment after checking in on property. 4. Two of the 6 items they offer for breakfast were unavailable BOTH days we were there. Neither the burrito nor the chilaquilles were available during our stay. Sunday 7/19 the kitchen was out of sourdough toast. 5. We told staff that we would not be having the Bento Box on 7/18 yet I still received a phone call from BGI where they said they knew I was out to dinner but wanted to know if I still wanted the Bento Box. 6. After returning from dinner at 8:30 PM on Saturday 7/18, not a single staff member was available. Both my brother and I called the phone number to get a hold of a staff member to no avail. The overall feel is the staff are "out to lunch" and the owner clearly only cares about his bank account. We will not be returning. read more

Beautiful property, but not close to worth $665/night -- and the billing practices left a bad taste. We came to Mendocino for the music festival and stayed two nights at Brewery Gulch Inn. The setting is lovely, the town was restful, and the design of the property is genuinely nice -- Le Labo toiletries in the bathroom were a nice touch, and the included breakfast/dinner concept sounds great on paper. Unfortunately, the execution and the way we were treated didn't come close to matching the price tag. Room and comfort issues The walls and floors are thin -- we could hear our upstairs neighbor snoring and their TV running all night. There's no AC and no screens on the windows, so getting fresh air meant letting bugs in. There's no in-room coffee, water, or safe -- all available in the lobby, but not in a $665/night room. Construction started at 8:30am right outside our ground-floor window with zero forewarning -- loud sawing, and workers who could see directly into our room. Breakfast Several items were unavailable for all three days we were there: no bread for French toast, no chilaquiles, and the "fresh squeezed" orange juice was actually concentrate -- we were told they were out of oranges, despite a grocery store carrying them a few blocks away. The snacks available were dry, tasteless cookies, and a fruit bowl (a couple of apples and bananas) that was never refreshed the entire stay -- the bananas were black by checkout. Billing problems When we booked in April, we were quoted a total for both nights including taxes and fees, with a one-night deposit due at booking. Days later, we were charged for both nights in full. When I called to sort it out, the front desk staffer (Crystal) responded with irritation rather than an apology, as if refunding an overcharge was a personal inconvenience to her. At checkout, months later, a $44 "food service gratuity" appeared on the bill -- for four complimentary breakfasts. When I noted that a hotel charging $665/night should be paying its own staff a living wage rather than passing that cost to guests via a surprise gratuity, I was told "that's what the state mandates," then asked, in a clearly annoyed tone, "so you don't think our staff deserve to be paid?" I was asked, in a condescending and nasty way, if I wanted the $44 refunded. I said yes, please reverse the charge -- it was never refunded. Checkout We asked twice about a one-hour late checkout (noon instead of 11am). Both times we were told staff would need to check with a manager and get back to us. No one ever did. We were separately told the fee for that one hour would be $100 -- on top of $665/night. Service overall There was no greeting or acknowledgment on arrival -- just paperwork to sign. No thank-you or well-wishes at departure -- just a bill. The staff throughout felt like well-meaning young people on summer break rather than a trained team, and there was no manager visibly on-site handling any of this. Bottom line This property is fine at $250-$300/night. At $665/night, it's a significant mismatch between price and experience, compounded by billing issues that were never resolved. I wouldn't return, and I'd encourage ownership to take a hard look at training and guest service -- "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara would be a good place to start. read more

Heaven place. Usually, hotels are for rest, and we make sure it's clean and safe. But this place will completely change your concept of the vision of hotels. As I walked in, I met a beautiful and kind person with an honest smile on her face. She introduced herself as Issabel. She made you feel at home, and now it's time to rest. This hotel is so beautiful that you don't want to leave this place. Isabel showed us around and genuinely took care of us. We were so lucky to find this place. Dinner was served around 5:30, and the chef made fresh food for us. Breakfast is included, and it's delicious and presented beautifully. Isabel stayed completely involved with us. Usually, we drop bags and want to go outside, but leaving this place was hard. Thank God we were on the first floor with the ocean view. This place is a must-visit in Mendocino. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 Hubby and I came here for a quick babymoon since I'm a high risk pregnancy unable to fly. I had researched best baby moons in California and this came up. We spent 2 days & nights here and added the babymoon package. It included massages for us both, 2 $15 gift certificates for a pizza/ice cream parlor & toy store just 5 minutes away, a baby book, & belly bar. We were also welcomed with a toffee bar, bottle of sparkling cider, & a couple beers for him. Room was ready and clean upon arrival. Bed was a little too plush for hubby's liking being 6ft & nearly 300lbs just sinking in it. Massages were good; I fell asleep during mine. Our stay included breakfast and a wine & light dinner service. I couldn't indulge in wine, but there was water, sparkling water, coffee, hot chocolate, and tea available. The dinner offering was underwhelming. We ended up going to dinner in town both nights, not because of portion, but rather the quality/ flavor of the food. However, breakfast was always fresh and amazing. The hashbrowns were crispy and flavorful. They also had light pastry snack available with the teas & coffees. We enjoyed those over the dinner selection. All in all, we had a good stay. Staff is so friendly. Quiet and peaceful with the exception we were on the first floor and could hear the staff in the lobby/ hallway in the morning as well as the patrons upstairs with extra curricular activities. I wouldn't have cared any other time, but at 7 months pregnant, I was just trying to get my sleep before I can't anymore. Not sure if it was worth the price point. We could have stayed a little closer to SF, Napa or Carmel. The drive up along the 101 & 128 left me nauseous. My husband who can drive in SF hill & LA traffic no problem had to slow down for all the curves. Bring ginger chews for the windy roads and let all the angry locals over take you on the drive up. We stayed at this hotel in 2018 (coming from the east coast) and had a wonderful experience. Stayed in Smuggler's Cove. Loved the food, the wine, the bath amenities, and the setting is nearly impossible to beat if you like a quiet retreat for a vacation. This year we decided to go back and stayed in Heron. Again, we were so happy to be here. Tremendously relaxed, barely looking at our phones, taking walks and having incredible conversations, etc. Eating breakfast on the balcony and looking out into the gulch and onto the Pacific Ocean was incredible. With the room provided binoculars we saw whale spouts out in the ocean. I didn't believe it when my wife told me until I saw it with my own eyes. Mendocino is lovely with a fun selection of great places to eat, the park overlooking the cliffs is a great place to run and walk, etc. One other thing I wanted to mention - I got a somatic Reiki experience with Alex, and it was truly profound. I've gotten Reiki for years but this was on another level. I am deeply grateful for that experience and it's continued to resonate with me for weeks after my return home. So if you go, I highly recommend this experience. read more

Truly underwhelming experience all around. We paid over $700 per night and were like whaaaat? Our room was good enough I guess. Lower level, no view. All the rooms are attached to the main building so you don't have any real solo space to come and go. Things are a little run down. The "chef inspired appetizer" we got our first night was a cold chicken Ceasar salad with dressing and croutons from a package. No actual ocean views. We stayed at Heritage House last year and it's 1,000 times better overall. Even with breakfast and the "wine hour" included, still not worth it. We won't be back. For years I envisioned my self visiting this property. It was Andre Leon Talley who during an interview in a famous magazine said this property was he's favorite place to visit and get away from it all. I thought, if it's good enough for him, it's good for me, too. In fact, true story, because he was a famous, rich fashion critic I thought I'd never be able to afford visiting this place. Fast forward; a couple of days ago, I called in and as a courtesy a nice woman place my room on a courtesy hold for 24 hours. I had to consult with my spouse about dates. I called back the next day, wanting to take care of my held room and pay, no one answered the phones and I left a voice mail message. No one called me back. I called the following morning, Sarah answered the phone. I don't know why some people don't understand that some of us can tell when you're being rude, short, crude, disrespectful and plain out mean by phone just by the tone of your voice. Do you care? I mean, maybe you should? It's unfortunate, for this property and me because thanks to Sarah I am not coming here. Yes- my review is based on a simple phone conversation that lasted three minutes if that. No I am not staying here. I asked Sarah; "do you talk to everyone with this tone of voice and attitude? You are being rude and sound so mean. I am not dealing with this." She replied: "okay- so- how can I help? Again....mean and rude! I hung up. I planned for years to visit Mendocino, California. I had dreams of visiting this property. We came back to celebrate our anniversary and it was such a disappointment this time around. We have recommended this spot to so many people and we were very excited to come back but it was not the same. The food was mediocre at best, most nights it seemed like a frozen Trader Joe's meal. Our bed was very uncomfortable, seemed like it had been broken previously and not replaced. We had a noise issue but Isabel took care of it and was wonderful. Besides Isabel the staff was just ok. This is a lovely place to stay if you are looking for a secluded and scenic place to unwind. It is across the highway from the ocean, so there are some ocean views. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. They serve several different options for breakfast, and the breakfast is quite filling. Our stay also included light dinners. Every dinner we had at the inn was delicious, and the portions were perfect for a light meal. The staff was gracious and helpful, especially Victor. You can expect to hear other guests through the walls. When we stayed, not all of the rooms were full, so this was not too much of an issue. read more

Stayed one night in a suite room. Based on the very high online ratings, we expected a high-quality stay and attentive service. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. when it was already dark. Upon entering the lobby, we saw a group of people dining, but no one acknowledged or welcomed us. After waiting for a while, I had to ask how to check in. A staff member came from the dining area to assist and informed us of a 5% gratuity charge for food service. The check-in staff member later appeared and helped with luggage only after we requested assistance. We were given two bento boxes, but no one helped deliver them to our room. The food was cold, and there was no assistance with drinks--everything had to be handled by ourselves. Breakfast the next morning was better in terms of food quality. Someone helped us place our order, but we still needed to refill drinks on our own. At checkout, we received only a brief "thank you," with no further interaction. Overall, we did not feel welcomed during our stay. The room and the property itself were cozy and warm, but the service needs significant improvement. Given the price, the stay felt heavily overcharged for the level of service provided. read more

What happened to my heaven on earth? Brewery Gulch used to be the B&B that all others tried to emulate, but no more. Gone are the light buffet dinner, world famous hot chocolate, snacks throughout the day and passionate staff. In my recent stay, I got a broken patio door, broken toilet, ancient pillows, tiny and bland appetizer during wine hour, extremely loud upstairs guests, and ok service. The breakfast was the saving grace. I hate to say it but this place is no longer worth the steep price tag. Another one bites the dust...sad. read more

We stayed at Brewery Gulch Inn in May with our family and had a lovely experience overall. The food was truly exceptional--delicious, fresh, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The only downside for us was that the walls are quite thin, so we could hear conversations and movement from downstairs. Also, we were surprised to find there were no high chairs available for young children. This made mealtimes a bit tricky, as we had to take turns walking around with our little one instead of enjoying breakfast together. The Brewery Gulch Inn offers an intimate, relaxing, romantic setting for anybody looking to escape the grind and recharge for a few days. My wife and I hadn't taken a vacation in a long time. While we're no stranger to Disneyland or Vegas, our favorite trips tend to be quieter ones. Pismo Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Aptos... places near the water where you can stretch out and relax, without feeling over-stimulated. Mendocino seemed perfect and after only a short bit of Googling, it seemed that the Brewery Gulch was THE location to try. The Brewery Gulch is an impressive wood cabin from the outside, with an enviable, serene garden on the brief drive in. As soon as we stepped out of the car and into the gravel parking lot, the subtle, intoxicating aroma of burning firewood welcomed us. The great room (where you check-in, eat, and enjoy wine hour) is an impressive sight, with a huge wood burning fireplace, wide selection of games, movies, and reading material, and enormous glass windows that expresses every inch of the nearby Mendocino coastline - including a gorgeous view of the cove, with the greater Pacific Ocean clearly in-sight just over the hill. Every single staff member that we encountered was helpful, polite, and happy. We arrived during wine hour and were treated to the absolute best bowl of seafood chowder that I've ever had in my life. Beyond that, there was a sweet vinegarette salad with mixed greens and gorgonzola, as well as dessert: a perfectly assembled berry shortcake, in which the cake was cubed and tossed with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and a clearly made-in-house whipped cream. We stayed 3 nights. Every meal was tastier than the one that preceded it. For those wondering: the appetizers that they serve during wine hour are more than enough for dinner. We didn't go hungry once. We stayed in the Osprey room, which had a clear view of the ocean. Very large tub that my wife and I had no trouble sharing. In-room fireplace, two of the most comfortable leather chairs you're ever going to find, the best foot ottoman I've ever used, and a feathertop King sized bed that we absolutely melted into. Despite everything we loved about Brewery Gulch, I should mention the following (in the spirit of full transparency): the rooms do not include air conditioning... though the cool, mild climate doesn't really necessitate it. The large soaking tub is very decadent, but when you opt for a shower instead of a bath, the water pressure completely vanishes. And lastly: as wonderful as the staff is, they leave the premises at 8 PM. So, when one of your neighbors is blaring their TV through the fairly thin walls at 11 PM, your choices are to either try to ignore it or go knock on that person's door. To their credit, the Brewery Gulch does have a sign beneath all TVs, asking you to only play soft volume after 9 PM. All things considered: none of those minor inconveniences even came close to upsetting our stay at the Brewery Gulch. This is the ONLY place to choose when you are staying in Mendocino. Yes there are many options but this is the whole package and then some! Been going for probably 18+ years and have stayed probably as many times if not more. There is new ownership (still miss Guy & Sara) but GM Sarah and all the crew including Iza, Josh and all of them make us feel like family spoil and take care of us. Worth every penny. When people look at prices and say how expensive places are we'll look at everything you get. Amazing room. Wonderful staff. Full breakfasts. Wine and beer and apps hour. I decided to treat my wife to a babymoon but wanted something different than the island getaway. The Brewery Gulch Inn was highly reccom3nded online so we decided to give it a try. I booked 4 nights, one night was Valentines Day, with an additional babymoon package. The experience at the Inn was absolutely perfect. We had breakfast everyday, made to order and it was absolutely delicious. Everyday trying something new. Wine hour starting at 530pm was a pleasant surprise prior to us going to dinner. They even had a non alcoholic wine that was delicious for my pregnant wife. There was amazing views, easy access to Russian Gulch and Port Cabrillo Lighthouse hikes. Mendicino was 5 minutes away and Ft. Bragg was only 15 minutes. But honestly, we could stay in the Inn each day and enjoy ourselves watch a movie (provided) or playing board games (also probided) we enjoyed the cheese board and spa treatment which were part of the babymoon package so much. Honestly, this was a perfect getaway from our crazy busy lives. If you have the chance, book it. It's worth it. read more

My husband and I took our first trip to Mendocino for our 30th anniversary. I couldn't decide where to stay, so I decided to stay at two different locations. The first one, although nice, they catered to guest with pets . I neglected to notice.. we spent two nights at that resort in which my husband became very ill due to he's allergic to animals and has asthma. The other two nights we spent at The Brewery Gulch Inn. It was exceptional. The staff were amazing, the food was excellent and completely pet free. This location is very clean and the attention to detail was above our expectations. If you find yourself in the Mendocino area, you to have visit The Brewery Gulch Inn. I decided to get a last minute massage it was possibly one of the best I've ever had and I've been a spa owner. For all these reasons, we will be back. I also want to mention the food was delicious thanks to Chef Steve. The selections prepared were excellent. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. While the view from the property is beautiful, the service is horrible, the walls are paper-thin and the rooms are mediocre. Specifically, Crystal at the front desk is a disaster. After spending two wonderful days in Mendocino, Crystal was incredibly rude when we were checking out. When I put the key on the front desk, Crystal asked in a harsh voice, "Did you request a late checkout?" It was 12 noon. I told her that we were leaving and that we didn't need a late checkout. Crystal replied that checkout was 11 am and that she was going to charge us a $100 late checkout fee. I told her not to do so because no one told us that we had to checkout by 11. The late checkout fee was ridiculous because the inn was not full. After about an hour after leaving the inn, I received a final bill with the $100 late checkout fee. Mendocino is a fabulous place. Brewery Gulch Inn is a total ripoff. Stay anywhere but the inn when visiting Mendocino. read more

My husband and I had a very memorable experience here. The view from their community patio is incredible, and it was lovely to see so many birds. I've stayed there several times and enjoyed it a lot but sooooo many guests complain about noise from adjacent rooms. It annoyed me so much on our last visit that I have never returned The place was designed without sufficient sound insulation and in some rooms it's so bad that you can literally hear every word somebody is saying in the next room and even hear their more intimate activities in high Fidelity. They really need to bite the bullet close the place for a few months and fix this problem. It would cost a lot in construction expense and lost revenue and they obviously would rather have guests suffer this annoying problem than lose the revenue and fix it. It's their inn and they can call the shots. I have no problem with that but I can call the shots on where I stay and I prefer a quiet room. read more

I'm giving BGI six stars. I come here several times a year to relax and enjoy the fresh ocean air. It never to feel like home. Beautiful setting and outstanding building. My preferred room has a little porch for sunning, reading, watching the birds and ocean. And, it has a Japanese soaking tub. The staff is highly professional, warm, and thoughtful. Everyone that worked here was super friendly and accommodating -- Kurt at the front desk was awesome and I received a massage from Rebecca and she was amazing! Breakfast was complimentary with the room from 8-10am, wine hour and small plates also complimentary from 530pm-7pm. Love that they have a fun dvd collection, takes you back to the time of dvds! And I can't forget the GIANT bath tub in the bathroom, you can fit like 4 people in there (2 people laying down next to each other very comfortably). I absolutely loved the food, super good especially the breakfast. My favorite were the Johnnycakes. I would stay here again next time I'm in Mendocino. read more

Had another great stay at the Brewery Gulch Inn. It is pricey but worth it for a special weekend on the coast. The owner is great as was the staff at the front desk. Very hospitable, kind, generous staff. Beautiful view of the coast. Great ambiance. I didn't realize before coming here that it was all one building with 11 rooms in it but that made it feel like home. The rooms are nice with a great view (stayed in Raven and would recommend), the bath tub is like a hot tub and their bathroom amenities are so cozy! As other reviewers had said, the food is impressive! The menu is creative and unique and the taste is wonderful. The BGI signature drink for breakfast, Chai tea Lassi, really is heavenly - so good! The little individualized touches made this place special, from a hand written birthday note to a bottle of champagne in the room. read more

This place is definitely a special gem in beautiful Mendocino County. The location is very quiet and peaceful, the ocean views are very soothing and the rooms are carefully designed to feel like home. Very large tubs for a couple to soak together, king size beds, fireplace in the room and an overall very exclusive experience! The staff are all very personal and make everyone feel very welcome. Loved this place!! We went here on our honeymoon: Really big windows in the main lobby looking out toward the ocean. The room was a good size and had its own patio and fireplace in the room. The bathtub was epic too. Isabelle at the front desk was so nice too! Really enjoyed the food hour and wine. Such big portions that we didn't even need to leave the hotel, which is what we wanted on our honeymoon. I do wish they had fire pits and hot tubs outside to relax and look out. Maybe a future addition to consider for the owners. Also, kinda hard to be intimate when the kitchen is literally on the other side of the hallway from our room. Felt like we were in the kitchen/cleaning quarters sometimes (pine room, so you know)...But honestly, incredible place. Loved it!! read more

Oh, Brewery Gulch Inn! Even though I never found any kind of brewery nearby, we had a lovely stay. 6am flight out of O'Hare, summer weekend rental hell at SFO, slow going through the safety corridor and the long haul to the North Coast, arrive reception hour at the BGI. Like the many lighthouses along the coastline, the BGI was the light at the end of the tunnel. The Inn is just charming. Our welcome was sweet and genuine. We were walked to our top floor corner room, called the "Osprey". It was a cozy king suite that had a huge soaker tub/shower, a fireplace, a seating area with a few chairs around it, a desk, flatscreen with DVD and DirectTV, and a huge patio with lounge chairs that overlooked the patio of the Inn and the cove. It was a spectacular view. There are fridges for guest use at the top of the stairs that I used to keep our beers cold. Coffee and teas are available 24/7 in the lobby. Wine and local craft beers from North Coast are served at happy hour. Dinner for guests nightly and breakfast is served each morning. It's not that day old bagel or cold muffin crap either. Made to order breakfast focusing on local seasonal produce. Not to miss is the bacon cooked with brown sugar and a nice kick of red pepper. Yeah, I'll have a side of that. Peach jam, from the stand just down the road?, is another thing you're going to want to enjoy . Everyone we dealt with at the Inn was courteous and welcoming. They helped us with confirming dinners, horseback riding and making sure we had the right directions. There is also a business setup in the lobby, a stocked library and DVD collection for your use. Keep your eyes open for wildlife about the grounds. We saw rabbits, jays, hummingbirds and quail. I'm really starting to fall in love with this kind of cozy and homey B&B. BGI is as nice as they come. And you can get a side of that spectacular bacon! read more

My husband and I just stayed here last week for our honeymoon! It was such an amazing experience. The entire staff was so helpful while planning our stay and day trips while visiting. They helped us set up horse back riding in Manchester and a picnic lunch. The food was excellent! We tried a few places in the area while we were out exploring and nothing measured up to the brewery gulch menu. I highly recommend returning in time for dinner each night. We had a wonderful time at the Brewery Gulch Inn. The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful and serene. The Inn was warm and inviting as you enter the spacious common areas. Our room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. We are foodies, and applaud the first rate food. We complimented the chef as he was returning from the garden with fresh herbs. The Innkeepers are first rate hosts. They will provide lots of information to make the most of your stay. Champagne and s'mores at sunset with a personal beach bonfire was delightful. We recently stayed for a beautiful November weekend and had THE best time. The rooms are unique, gorgeous and super clean. The breakfast that is included is absolutely first rate. Each day we were there, the front desk asked what fun adventures we were off to and always checked in to see if we needed anything when we got back. Rebekah at the front desk is a serious gem. If the property sat on the other side of HWY1 by the water it would be 4.5 stars. Warm reception; got cute V day card, chocolate strawberry and various candy along with a single red rose in the room on V day which was a nice touch. Loved the breakfasts -- the million dollar bacon is great with the added spice. Omlettes were so fluffy! "Dinner" -- or evening snacks, over the three days never repeated which was nice. Non-guests can join for food at $35 per person, which was a bit steep. Would not say it was amazing -- parsnip soup was over salted; wished butternut squash was not served cold; but did enjoy the fact that after a day of walking around seeing the sights, we could retire to the hotel and eat without having to venture out again. The board games (scrabble table was always in use) and tons of DVD options for the taking to view in room was great. Stayed in the Meadowview room. Only complaint is that there was some door that keeps slamming and we couldn't figure out if it was a guest or service door. The room also had adult zen coloring book with color pencil provided. These little touches makes this property memorable. read more

This place is amazing. It's very beautiful and in a great location very close to Mendocino's downtown. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Breakfast and dinner are usually included in the stay and the staff was always able to cook an extra dish for me that was vegan. They even bought some extra vegan snacks for me (vegan chocolate, etc.) to snack from in the lobby area. A great experience! read more

Nice accommodations, but sneaky charges at the end of your stay! Was charge $139 for toiletries, they claimed there was sign of you take the shampoo, body soap and body lotion, you will be charged, there was no sign. We took them, they were already used , bottle were not full and no seals. Apparently they reuse the bottles between guests! Quite surprising given the Covid environment! We reported them to the county health supervisor. read more
