Stopped in for the first time on April 27th. I had purchased a mug club mug 4 years ago and never got a chance to try it out. Today was the day. They don't serve food but you can bring your own in. They sell chips and cookies and have free popcorn. Ordered our drinks at the counter and picked them up. We got service with a smile and some conversation. It was pretty slow with only 4 customers inside. Then we realized they had a fire pit in back and a few people were out there. It is a pretty wide open space with high tops and low tops. Maybe 8 people can seat at the bar. Found a beer that we liked and sat for awhile. I think this is a brewery I will hit up the next time I am in TC. A got to place in my book. read more

My husband and I drive by this brewery every single day and decided to finally give it a try! For reference, we are in our late 20s and love a good brewery. This location felt a bit more like it fit an older crowd and didn't have the typical ambiance that we look for at a brewery. The beer was good, but not life changing. The outdoor patio was neat, although they could benefit from purchasing some new chairs. The service was okay - I had gone in to purchase a gift card a few weeks prior and the person at the front kept interrupting me when I tried to make the purchase. I've been here maybe three times, and I have to say after each visit I ask myself why don't I come here more often. I had the Cherie cider, magnifique. They were hosting an after Valentine's party for our local humane society. As I vastly prefer animals to humans, I needed to go. It worked out as I stopped at a friend's home across the street afterwards, to talk about watching her animals while her family goes out of town. This was a great spot! We came in and had a seat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. She let us know about a deal where you can have a TC passport stamped and get a free shirt once they are all stamped. Unfortunately, we had already been to all of them and this was our last brewery in the area. Boo! But we saved them and now we can use them next time we come! Always great to have an excuse to come back! Also, one of the breweries on the list is not open yet. So we needed to come back and get our tag anyway. The fact that the parking lot was empty on a Friday maybe should have been a red flag? I was on a brew tour in TC and wanted to try this place out. They let me sample a few different beers before I decided on the one pictured and this was a pity beer as they let me try a bunch so I felt obligated to buy at least one round. Wife and I both had flights and I went in for seconds. I really like their beer. This is a regular stop when we are in TC. My only issue is they were out of more than a couple of the beers they have posted as being on tap online. There is seating both inside and out. Outside had a tented area as well if shade was needed. Also a fire pit they had going. It was chilly. Staff was very nice and patrons were all nice. It's also dog friendly which is a major plus for us. I recommend friends to always stop here. read more

Today I had a great selection and drank one taster before I could take a picture. I had Man in Black Oatmeal Stout; Ancho Chili Chocolate Porter; Squatch Brown Porter; Four Leaf Irish Stout; & Black Orchid Vanilla Porter. What's not to like? Wow, I fell in love immediately. I love that they are on a farm and use crops on their farm for their beer and food offerings. I rolled in on a rainy Friday and had the absolute best time! The bartender was very helpful at walking us through the beer menu and offering suggestions based on taste preferences! After we found what we liked, we played table shuffle board and laughed our butts off. After an hour or so we noshed on some crackers and cheese they had as snack option made from a local business (if I remember correctly). The place is pretty spacious. Plenty of bar seating, tables, couches and a cute outdoor space (didn't really check that out because of the rain). The ceilings are super tall, makes you feel like you are in a very modern barn. Love the vibe and can't wait to visit again! This is definitely off the beaten path of downtown TC but oh so worth the short drive out to it! read more

Nice location on the south end of Traverse City. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't crowded or busy. Nice area for outdoor seating-- picnic tables, corn hole, chairs around a fire pit. The beer was quite good. I enjoyed the chocolate orange stout and the honey basil ale. read more

Went here on a whim after a bad experience at Right Brain. We got there 15 minutes before they closed, but they still let us get a sampler and stay an hour to drink it. The staff was very friendly & accommodating, the taproom was roomy & clean (more like a restaurant than a typical bar). The beer was good too, my favorite was the Copper Grasshopper. Apparently the owner was formerly the brewer at Right Brain. The location is a little out of the way, but worth it for those more interested in trying new beers than in a bar scene. read more

A great staff serving beer that's really good! The building looks newer and the inside is clean and bright with plenty of natural light making this spot feel like a warm summer's day...probably even when it's 10 below outside. Their beer is straight up, meaning they're not trying to make their beer taste like a tasty pine tree or anything. It's well conceived, and it's delicious. They don't overreach, which I liked! They offer sandwiches but I unfortunately didn't take the time to try one. I loved their staff. Charlie was awesome and very hospitable. They have a really great patio space and they also have cornhole boards if you're feeling sporting. I'm already looking forward to coming back. FYI, they have live trivia with John, now, also....Wednesday nights?! It's definitely worth checking out over a few beers here! read more

Excellent, excellent selection of beers. My favorite by far was the Black Orchid Vanilla Porter; one of the better Porter's I've had. The IPAs they have are smooth and flavorful. Very friendly and helpful staff that will lead you through their great selection of brews. The only minor take away is the atmosphere seems commercial with the vaulted ceilings and new construction feel. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it takes away from the intimacy of your local brewery. read more

My friend Doug at The Session Room in Ann Arbor recommended this place to me. It's not in downtown Traverse City but south, out in the country. They are very eco-concious, recycling their water and the other brewing byproducts and either growing their own ingredients or using locally sourced ingredients. On top of that they make great beer. The place is a big room with a bar along one side (chairs with backs). A dozen tables or so with a table shuffleboard in one corner. I had the Soul Butter Triple IPA (no butter was harmed in the making of this beer). So far it is my favorite beer of my Northern Michigan brewpub odyssey. My friend had a Sun Cup Lemon Honey and though not a true beer drinker she enjoyed very much. I also had a beer with ingredients I have found only in Northern Michigan: the Wicked Garden Honey Beet Wheat. I like beets but they give the beer a very earthy flavor that is not my favorite. Not only are their beers wonderful their commitment to the earth is something that needs to be supported. read more

This brewery is wholesome and modern. They boast farm to table to farm brews and eats which is a cool twist to a simple farm to table. They have been thriving and growing since 2013 and utilize 100% locally sourced as well as home grown ingredients and elements. The brewery is positioned on a 10 acre farm and you can see the crops from the parking lot. The staff is passionate and this being our first visit was especially cool before seated beside us at the bar with purely mug club members which speaks volumes for quality all around. They proudly displayed merch and mugs on the walls. They do offer 40 rotating taps. 13 house brews currently was the line up and they had all major styles represented. We did flight pours of every single beer (3 ounce pours roughly priced $2.50 each) so to get every taste was under $30 for my husband and I to share. This brewery is just off the beaten path enough from the bustling downtown TC crowd that it was filled with a more mature customer which was unexpected. The artwork on the walls was enjoyable to admire while we sipped, oil painting of rural and wooded landscapes as well as drift wood/yarn pieces. There was outdoor seating in a garden patio also. They don't have much offerings for food but simple snacks are on the menu. Great brewery a couple miles outside of downtown traverse city. Was the best brewery we went to on our trip. Loved that they didn't have the same cookie cutter beers that we saw at most other breweries. They had unique beers and some great staples. They had a lot of beers on tap and pricing was reasonable. We loved that they had many size options - there we so many we wanted to try that it allowed us to be able to try them in one trip. Will defiantly come back next time we are nearby. read more

Checked out this new brewery on what I believe was their opening night. The hubs and I got there late, so we each only had one brew but we enjoyed them! I tried the vanilla porter and the hubs had the black IPA. My friend also got the vanilla porter and enjoyed it. I'm not a beer drinker but I'll do the occasional dark brew, and Terra Firma's porter was tasty. Atmosphere and staff are nice. Looks like they're still adding decor - little sparse but they have some interesting paintings and quite a collection of vintage license plates! Nice outdoor patio/deck area too, which a number of folks were enjoying when we got there. Overall this is a good addition to TC - we'll be back, along with our friend, since he lives across the street :-) read more

I've always had excellent service every time I stop by. My fiance and I visit a few times a month and I love how they remember our names. Everyone is incredibly friendly. They have a small selection of snacks, but you are able to bring your own food in. The beer is absolutely wonderful. Well the facility is nice and the concept is pretty cool...the beer just fell short. I had two of their IPAs that supposedly won 1st and 2nd place in the Traverse City IPA Competition and it made me curious just who the competition was. They were two of the most unimpressive IPAs I've ever had. All of our samples were just "meh". But then, before we left, our very friendly bartender insisted on one last sample she referred to as "dessert". It totally redeemed our experience. It was Bruno The Questionable--a double brown aged in bourbon barrels. I'm not usually a bourbon fan at all, it's usually too boozy and over the top. But wow, Bruno was delicious. Smooth, rich, and dangerous. I'm glad we only had a sample. I would definitely come back for more of that. So yeah, mostly mediocre beer but a cool brewery with a lot of character. Bring your own food to enjoy with your beer or they have menus for places that will deliver. read more

I love this place. It's a bit off the beaten path from the other breweries in the area. The location is nice and more of a winery setting than a brewery setting. It's spacious and there is a patio for when the weather is nice. I've been here twice now and both times we were one of only a couple people in there, so the service was very personalized and friendly. I cannot get enough of the Scarborough Fair. It's one of the most unique flavored beers I've ever tried. Glad to see that Terra Firma is distributing across the state. They've finally made it to the Southeast (Oakland Co.) but I'd like to see Scarborough Fair on their distribution list for the area. Once spilled a little foam off the top of my beer, absolutely 100% my fault, and when I asked for a towel or napkin to sop it up, the bartender REFUSED to give me one and insisted he would handle it. Instructed me to sit down and enjoy my beer. I'll wander in any day to sample their new seasonal stuff knowing they really enjoy their work and like to see their customers enjoy the fruits of their labors. So far, my faves have all been dark (Porters, mostly), but some of their fruit beers are excellent, too. They offer different size pours, so it's low-stress to try different kinds.
