Truly disappointing experience. The bbq food truck's burnt ends and brats were dismal. Not the fault of the brewery. I got the lager and the nitro stout. Both tasted watered down. The Short's Brewing Company Pull Barn is a cool concept and great for summer months. They added a bunch of outdoor seating to their production facility to make it a second Short's destination. We stopped by with some friends while staying in the area and had a nice time. It was pretty busy but we were able to snag a picnic table outside. They also have some limited indoor seating as well as a huge lawn where you can picnic or bring camp chairs. The space is definitely kid-friendly and they even have a sandbox. Dogs are allowed outside as well. The beer list is pretty extensive and it was fun to try some new things like a ginger-lemongrass cider and their passionfruit canned rose wine, which was so good I bought some to take home. They don't have their own kitchen, but there were two food trucks on site and their website says you can order takeout from a nearby restaurant too. They had a musician playing the night we were there and the vibes were chill and relaxed, which I liked. I'd definitely come back in the future if I'm up this way again! read more

I made it an hour/hour and a half at Short's Fest. Oh, me of little stamina. I ordered a pretzel and ate Nachos from Flannigan's goat, food truck. Beer tried- soft parade, and ciders- ruby (pear and rhubarb) and the Pulsar and the star parade. I drank a glass of water in between each. I biked from the beach area by the fishing spot. Parking was cray-cray, but Norte was there with bike valet. Most excellent, brah. Ambiance was pretty chill, this event is usually in August, another attendee told me, but this time of year featured better temps and less-ish pilgrims. Bartenders were amusing. Started to get crowded around 6:30, so I peaced out. I had to go to the grocery store, such is life..... I had a nice walk on the beach and some tasty coffee from ez mart first though. Not a lot going on, but that's cool. The area itself was dead when we went (middle of the week, middle of the day), but that was cool. We got a few rounds of cornhole in and tried a couple of their beers. They had a food truck on site, but nothing I could eat. As expected, Short's themselves don't have any food here. They allow brewery tours and that, but we seriously just stopped for a beer and a piss. This place is worth a stop if you're driving to the UP from Traverse City, since it's not really out of the way anyway.. they also offer Short's taproom exclusives you can get to take home. read more

We were heading into Traverse City and saw this little open-air pub. It turned out to be the Short's production center. They have a bar outside with a food truck and some picnic tables and games. We had a pint, filled up our growler, and continued down the road. It was so great way to visit one of our favorite breweries without have to go to their pub in Bellaire because we didn't have the time. Next time we will make sure to schedule a tour of the facilities. read more

Stopped by on a Thursday night in June with the family and it wasn't too busy. There are several Short's beers my wife and I like and typically purchase in stores downstate. They had all our favorites and quite a few I've never had before, so if you like trying different beers this is a great place to stop by when the weather is nice. We also got food from the taco truck that was there (the dessert truck was unfortunately not open when we visited). The food from the taco truck was very good. Portions are huge, definitely enough for two people. They have a nice open area with games (we played corn hole). If you like beer, definitely add it to your list. read more

This place is great! Came here with my husband and 18 month old today. My husband and I were really impressed by the beers -- we tasted several and they were all delicious and also had unique flavor options -- for example, I had a beer that was brewed with ginger and limes that tasted just like a Moscow mule. I love going to Short's Pull Barn in the summer. It is the perfect place to take a break from the beach, boating, etc and take a seat on the picnic tables to enjoy a delicious Short's beer. In the summer, the pub is so busy that I enjoy coming here much more. On a weekend that is not quite as busy I prefer to go to the pub to get the whole experience. Here there is a large selection of Short's beers, usually a few food trucks, some apparel, and corn hole to enjoy. This location is only open seasonally but do not miss out. read more

I have always loved Short's. However this trip I don't have a verb strong enough. We had our dog (Pit/Lab mix) with us on the patio and all the employees loved on him and didn't judge him at all.
