We came across Breyers' page on the internet while we were looking for at-home training options for our dog. Our dog knew basic commands and leash walking out in public, but he was struggling significantly adjusting to apartment living, being territorial and being very reactive to people and dogs in the enclosed hallways, stairwells, and elevators. We completed Breyers' program in September 2022. Compared to 6 months ago, we have SO much more control over our dog's behavior. We figured out how to get him to respond and remain calm in various situations -- using food rewards, using the vibrating E-collar Breyers used during our training -- and we are now to the point where our dog will do many commands without rewards or the collar. It has made us so much more comfortable being in the apartment setting. I have been recently complimented by many people in our building on how well-behaved my dog is in the hallways, whereas 6 months ago, my dog would have been completely out of control. Breyers' training taught us how to get through to him and we continue to use these strategies to this day. For those looking for an at-home training option, Breyers is a fantastic option. That being said, keep in mind it is a team sport. Breyers is there to help lay a foundation to set you up for lifelong success and get you and your dog going in the right direction. But you, as the pet parent, must put in just as much work as Breyers in correcting your pet's behavior. It is an intense program requiring daily commitment to your animal. Furthermore, that commitment does not stop just because the program ends -- you must keep up with your training skills afterward to ensure your dog does not slip into old habits. Working with Breyers Academy was one of the best decisions I've made. I know that sounds bold but it's true and this is why. I work from home so a calm dog is essential to productivity. Last year, my 5 year old cavachon, Jenson, developed severe reactivity and started barking at every guest and every noise (garbage trucks, next door voices, doorbells on TV shows, etc). I found Breyers Academy based on their exceptional Yelp reviews and success stories. I wanted to hire them right away but their rate is an investment so I tried a $300 video series first. I thought "I'm committed to this and want to be financially smart, I can make a video course work." Of course, it did nothing. After wasting that time/money and listening to a couple more months of barking, I hired Breyers like I should have from the start. It was a joy to watch Jenson learn and perform the training activities, but I'll admit that I wasn't sure how the exercises were actually going to fix his barking since they centered around other obedience behaviors. Well, it became clear near the end of the training program: seemingly overnight, Jenson was a totally different dog. The training focused him, rewired him, and reversed his reactivity! Not only did I get my calm, quiet dog back, but Breyers and the other trainers in the academy are just a pleasure to be around and their ability to actively tailor exercises to how a dog is responding is wildly impressive. After seeing how personalized their approach is, it's funny that I once thought videos would work. When I got a second dog this year, I hired Breyers early at the first signs of reactivity. I have known Breyers for over 10 years. He helped me and my family train our Labradoodle, Maddy, when she was a pup and he's amazing! Actually, Breyers trained us! Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE that comes into contact with Maddy can't get over how well behaved she is, how sweet she is, and how approachable. She looks at me for permission to go, I can take her to dog friendly stores and she's perfect. I can put her in the "down, stay" position and she stays put. Breyers' Canine Academy was highly recommended to me by my neighbor who is involved in showing dogs. I really didn't want to make the drive from Plano to Lemmon Ave regularly but now I'm glad I did. Before training with Breyers, we had a few frightening situations with our puppy, Hank, while he was off-leash. My number one goal with our training was for him to come when I called his name without a leash on so we could run and play frisbee without worrying about his safety. Worth every penny! Oreo is a sheepadoodle (50% OES, 50% poodle), potentially one of the hardest puppy breeds for a novice dog owner, and I was determined to have her trained as well as a service dog. I randomly selected Breyers, as he had the best reviews on Yelp, and we began training at 5 months. I was convinced I had a "bad" dog, as I was learning there have been periods of over-breading of OES, creating neurotic behaviors, including hyperactivity, fearfulness, and aggression. For us, it was aggression - she was under the impression she was born a pit bull! However, I came to see that it was ME who needed the training. Unlike other programs out there, Breyers trains the dog AND its owner. Oreo just turned 2 in May, and we have made so much progress! We're still not perfect - she still has to jump on everyone she greets, and she can still get aggressive when she has too much pent up energy - but I now have the tools to continue training her, and she gets better every week. Breyers trained our rescue dog, Lola, nearly four years ago. She had been on the street, in a rescue cage for 5 months and had bronchial pneumonia and heartworms when we got her (we didn't know how sick she was). She spent two weeks in Med Vet and we didn't think she'd make it. Recuperation was months. She is a 14 pound dachshund mix. As a result of all these problems, Lola was very high-strung and a "runner." She'd be gone at the crack of a door. My neighbor referred us to Breyers, and he was a miracle worker! We took the basic lessons and opted for the advanced ones as well. It was a lot of work for both Lola and me. We still practice daily in a very early morning mile+ walk. She stays by my side and happily practices a brief training routine "brush up" along the way. Lola is such a wonderful, loving dog and deserved to be calmed down and happy. Working with Breyers was the best decision I could've made for me and my dog. Before training with Breyers, my perception of a well-trained dog was a dog that would look to its owner for what to do and when to do it do it. Breyers was awesome for me and my senior rescue dog. He clearly explained his process and training options and what results to expect (it's not magic, it's consistency and building a relationship with your dog). I chose the private sessions option. My dog was a bit of a nut to crack motivation-wise, but Breyers got there after a few sessions and she really started to enjoy them. When we started, she wouldn't even take chicken from my hands. She now catches treats like a champ (that was our first homework, a yummy lesson), walks like an angel on leash (with occasional timely corrections for rabbits and squirrels) and most importantly for me, I now have confidence to take her out regardless of wild or domestic life we might encounter. It has been nearly two years since Breyers initially trained our rescue, Lola. She was great after the first sessions, but we opted for Breyers' Advanced course to put us over the top! I highly recommend Breyers Canine Academy. I have used Breyers to help train two dogs. The first was a puppy 15 years ago that was having difficulty walking on a leash and responding to basic commands. After Breyers training she was a new dog. Easy to walk and calmer around the house. A few months ago, I got another puppy. He was 73 pounds at 6 months and I was having so many problems with him. specifically, I couldn't get him in the car or walk him because he would pull on the leash. Bryers was absolutely amazing. If there were 100 stars I would give him 100. We tried two trainers before him who failed miserably. My dog's behavior was pretty crazy. He would jump up on us constantly and it was very difficult to take him out on a leash because he pulled so hard. My dog enjoyed working with Bryers and was always excited to see him.
