Aside from her impeccable credentials (Stanford Med School, UCSF surgical residency and US Air Force), Dr. Lee is very personable and explained my gall bladder surgery in a very concise and simple manner. I was very comfortable after leaving her office. In the pre-op room, she briefly explained to my husband and I what she would be doing in the OR. Again giving us much reassurance. The robot-assisted single site gall bladder surgery she performed was a success and I am now recuperating with very little pain and discomfort. I highly recommend Dr Lee and would go to her again if needed.

I received a hip arthroscopy from Dr. Lawler to fix a labral tear and hip impingement in Fall 2024…read more I am extremely happy with my choice to work with him and his team- they were kind, competant, and efficient. I went through a number of potential candidates in the Bay Area and Dr. Lawler was the first surgeon that made me feel fully confident in the path forward. In particular, I appreciated his determination to get me to 100% from a sport performance perspective- I felt that he really cared about the difference between a 80% recovery and a 100% recovery. I'm still early on in the recovery process, but so far everything has gone smoothly. I experienced significally less pain after my procedure than expected based on my online research and onversations with friends (though this could certainly also be due to the specifics of my own case). A couple of things I appreciated about the experince: - Dr. Lawler spent nearly an hour talking me through the decision to get the surgery and answering my questions without rushing me. - Kate Donnelly (his PA) was a great communicator and made me feel secure in my treatment. - The office team did a good job providing me the necessary information and following up with me about medications and paperwork. Scheduling was easy compared to my experiences at other clinics, thought it was a little hard to figure out how I would need to prepare my home for recovery (e.g. definitely get bars for the bathroom if you can). - Despite a delay of 2 hours on my surgery, the team at the North Bay Regional surgey center kept my spirits high and made me feel very comfortable as I waited. Big thank you to Kate, Dr. Lawler, and the rest of the team!

An assistant also took a few X-ray images right there in his office that were ready to view within moments. He explained the imaging, and presented me with options for treatment. The best option in my opinion, and based on his knowledgeable explanation, was surgery. A few weeks later he performed the surgery. He spent time with me before and after, and had a great demeanor and personality each time I've communicated with him. A week after my surgery I had a follow-up appointment with his office. I spoke with Marcy who was very polite and knowledgeable. She took plenty of time to clearly answer my questions related to the surgery and the healing process. She explained the 10 or so images that Dr Lawler had taken during the procedure one at a time. My experience with Dr Lawler's office has been consistently positive. I would definitely recommend his practice to anyone in need of knee repair. It has been 2 weeks since my surgery.

My experience is more around the way they approached my issue and the billing for it. The problem I had, Dr. Weiss explained clearly why it would be a difficult repair and what he needed to do. What he didn't tell me, until the work was done, is that it has a 50/50 chance of failing. I spent a great deal of time, money, and pain to get half the result that I expected. I regret that I didn't seek a second opinion. The surgery went well. It was a first for me, and they gave me no information on how to care for the work they did and I wound up having a couple of bad infections that I could have easily avoided with some basic info on the process. Without those infections, I would have been able to do a lot more therapy during the process. They billed me nearly $1000 for a procedure that really wasn't a procedure and added no time to the office visit. It took less than 5 seconds, involved no prep and nothing more than a pair of pliers. I compare it to a dental visit: would they scrape off a bit of hard plaque from a tooh and charge for a crown? I brought this up to their billing department several times and I've just been ignored. In summary: Ask a *lot* of questions. Don't expect to get information that you don't ask for. Seek a second opinion. If you have a high deductible/HSA, expect to get high charges for things that really should have been part of the appointment.

I am nervous about writing a negative review. Dr. Mark Bazalgette is my proctologist. I went into…read moresee him to have an internal hemorrhoid removed. My hemorrhoid or Hemorrhoids have been bleeding off and on for the last six months. I had an appointment set with another proctologist thru Sutter Health for a full colonoscopy in Emeryville. Dr. Bazalgette looked a little perturbed when I told him this but he said to keep the appointment with Dr. Shah. So I did. I've noticed that not every doctor sees eye to eye. Just like one plumber will mock another plumbers work. So anyways, back to my first visit with Dr. Bazalgette. The consultation lasted about 15 minutes or less. I very much wanted this hemorrhoid out. He was very willing to work with me and when I asked about his experience he told me that he had been doing at least one hemorrhoid removal per day for the past 30-35 years. Honestly, I was kind of impressed. But also surprised there are not more reviews on Yelp. So anyways, Dr. Bazalgette tells me he wants to take a look and does with a mini colonoscopy kit his assistant prepared. There was too much fecal matter in my anus and I told him that I had brought a couple enemas with me because I wasn't sure if I should use them before coming in. He told me to use the bathroom downstairs near the elevators and come back in 30-40 minutes and I performed two enemas then returned. Now the first and second appointment were in the same day. I remember feeling satisfied that this was going to be checked out so quickly and efficiently. I called him a cowboy meaning to me just get it done. I like people like that. In the first appointment he told me he was only going to check and there would be no operating. Just inspecting. So after I had cleaned my anus out and he was able to do the mini colonoscopy he first filled my anal cavity with a gas which was a little uncomfortable but necessary to see what's going on. Inquisitive and curious person that I am I asked if I could take photos of my hemorrhoid(s) which I tried to. He said he was fine with it. He was searching for it but I wasn't sure if he actually found it. Intuitively, I didn't think he wanted me to see it but I took photos of these purple vein looking things. I'll post the photo here. He told me before that these operations don't need to be numbed. I found having this camera/Lasso in my anus to be quite uncomfortable like I felt like I was going to poop. And it got to the point where it hurt at which point he continued a little further and Bammo there was a piece of the hemorrhoid he said and he told me he would do a biopsy on it or look at it later under the microscope. I did feel a little violated only in that he told me there wouldn't be any operation on this visit but I did appreciate that he had somehow caught a piece of it. I couldn't see what it looked like. This violation that i felt was minor. I just felt like wait a minute, didn't he just tell me earlier that he wasn't going to do what he just did. But whatever. I was impressed that he was taking the time to take me so seriously and the cowboy thing impressed me. Before I went home he told me that he had a cancellation on October 19th at 2pm and that he could remove the hemorrhoid. My other appointment with Dr. Shah wouldn't be until November 9th which was a month or more away, so as you can probably guess I was very excited and relieved someone had cancelled. Before I left the office his nurse or assistant gave me pre-treatment instructions and then late In preparation for my surgery on October 19, 2021 I took the magnesium citrate the night before. And only ate white/clear foods which was clam chowder. I didn't eat after midnight as instructed. On the 19th I cleaned my anus by administering two enemas on myself. Two because the first one didn't work good enough. I had reserved an Uber ride for 10 am which didn't show and this sales rep at Quality inn in Petaluma ended up giving me a ride since my driver was already 35 minutes late. Mrs. Wong you were a Godsend. I offered her gas money but she declined. She drove me to Marin Health in Greenbrae. Before I was administered spinal anesthesia, Dr. Bazalgette apologized to me for taking so long getting back to me with the results from the biopsy. I had figured he didn't call because it was benign. But he first explained to me what he called the good news and the bad news. Bad news is that you have cancer. The good news is that you have anal cancer and it's treatable. He said at least you don't have rectal cancer which he would have to remove my entire rectum and insert a colostomy bag into my side in order to remove rectal cancer. What a relief that i only have anal cancer which he explained is similar looking to skin cancer and 100% treatable with radiation and chemotherapy. I then went onto the spinal anesthesia.
