Over the last 5 years, I have lost 110+ lbs. I had a tummy tuck and liposuction on my back 3 months ago. I'm 38 years old. After 3 C-section pregnancies I HAD a tummy that did not look so good. Excess of skin, loose skin and fat was my major problem. My experience was great since the moment I booked my first appointment ( just be prepared, he is very busy you may need to wait 3-6 months for a surgery), the follow ups visits and of course the day of the surgery. I think the pre- surgery appointment is crucial and it will determine how much trust you put into the surgeon. In addition how calm and prepared you will feel. Dr. Delgado is very professional and will address all your questions but not at the point to make you feel overwhelmed with information or worried. His staff is also a great resource of information at all levels of the process. Think twice about getting any facial work done by Dr. Delgado. After interviewing at least five plastic surgeons over the past few years I chose Dr. Delgado. I should have known better because most of his before and after photos are of women in their 40s or early 50s. At the time of my surgery, I was a 68 year-old female seeking a lower facelift and lower eyelift. Below is one of the letters I wrote to Dr. Delgado. "Thank you for sending me my pre-surgery pictures, it just further validates that there is no visible difference in my lower face and jaw line and my right ear lobe looks nothing like it originally did. "As I mentioned earlier I had concerns prior to my operation which I clearly expressed to you. First, my jawline which is why I came to you in the first place, next scars that might be visible after the surgery and third I am terrified of going under, meaning anesthesia. You basically agreed to do surgery being fully aware of my concerns and never once stated you do not possess the skills needed to perform the task or there might be an issue with the results. It is quite apparent that you clearly do not possess the skills a surgeon needs to do plastic surgery on my face and neck. The first words out of my mouth after the procedure was "it looks like two different people were working on my face and one was blind " My left eye looked like someone had cut my lower lid with a serrated kitchen knife weaving it in and out of my eyelashes line, which has yet to all grow back. My right eye looks like another person had cut it with a razor-sharp blade 1/4 inch below my lash line and pulled the skin too tight. Both eyes were sewn shut smaller than before my surgery leaving eyelashes poking out of the outer creases. Also, my left eye has a bulge area. My right earlobe, there is no other word to describe it but just mutilated, does not look anything like my previous earlobe or the other one and now has a very visible scar, dimple and notch taken out of it. As you know I was in tears at my first post-op appointment with you. Incisions on one side of my face look nothing like the other. It is clear as a surgeon you cannot cut on the dotted line of very obvious folds and creases. The left side of my face had a horizontal pull a clear indication of incompetence. You never once told me you do not possess the skills needed to do my surgery nor did you mention I should seek these procedures from another surgeon. You stated in your letter you "strive to make each and every patient happy with their outcome." Striving and having the necessary skill set to carry out the procedures are two very different things. I voiced my concerns at subsequent post-op appointments and it became quite apparent that you had no intention of fixing anything, let alone the list of items. With my eyelashes growing out of the corner of my eye all you did was pull them, with my bumps all you did was poked them with a pin. Finally, I had to shame you into even accepting a revision for the scar on my right ear. "We had a contract. I inform you of what issues I wish you to correct and for that, I give you $22,825. In return, you agree, having 30 years of experience, that you have the skills needed to perform that task and perform that task with satisfactory results. The results should not be a laundry list of botched items, many of which I am stuck with. I am not comfortable having you make any revisions and will listen to my dermatologist's repeated recommendation to find another doctor to make the repairs. One year after my surgery two surgeons told me that my procedure was not successful and that I need a lower facelift. One of them does not wish to correct your mistakes. That doctor took three pictures of me so that I could show you the areas that need repair." In case anyone wants to know the cost of all the repairs is about the same as a new facelift. read more

I've had 2 surgeries from Dr Delgado in the past 2 years. First one he fixed a botched breast augmentation (from a different doctor) and did so with grace and expertise. Very informed and skilled cosmetic surgery and injectables. Felt like Ariel really knew what she was doing and I trusted her completely

After over a year of exhaustive research, I chose Dr. Delgado to perform my surgery. I live in Marin County, so the proximity to his surgery center in Novato was a plus, too. I made the right choice for me. I had multiple procedures done: lower facelift/necklift, temporal brow lifts and upper/lower eyes. I was 66 at the time and, although my skin is still very good, everything had dropped significantly. There was excessive drooping of the skin in my upper eyelids, lower face and neck. One eyebrow was lower then the other. I had significant lower eye bags that made me look tired all the time. I never had any work done, so I was very nervous. I am now almost 6 months out and very, very happy with the results. I waited to review to allow for healing and settling. For this much work, it really takes 6 months to a year for total healing to occur. Dr. Delgado is a very skilled surgeon, very precise. He is also kind and caring. He will be available for any questions/concerns and gave me his cell number after surgery. We worked together to decide the best approach for my lower lids. I was worried that my dry eyes would cause complications if we did the more common approach (external lid incision under lower lids), and my eyes would look too different. After discussion, we agreed to the transconjunctival approach (inner lid incision), as this is better for dry eyes. Even so, I still developed chemosis in my right eye after 2 weeks or so, which lasted for 2.5 months and was very annoying. It involves patching the eye and the use of medications. This is a complication that can occur, most commonly after lower lid surgery, so be aware. However, it resolves over time. My advice; do your research, learn as much as you can about the procedures, possible complications, etc. Watch videos and ask your friends. Don't go in unprepared. And know there's going to be tradeoffs. I also hired a caregiver they recommended, Michelle Saleh, who was wonderful. She took care of everything for 2.5 days so I could totally rest, including my eyes. I listened to audible books. There was an article in the Marin IJ yesterday about the ridiculously high price of plastic surgery charged by "celebrity" plastic surgeons. I feel like I scored finding Dr. Delgado. I didn't pay anything near the prices quoted in the article. In fact, I now know I got a really good deal for all the excellent work he did. Thanks, Dr. Delgado. read more
