We went to Brian's Place on Fathers Day (2012) and were completely disappointed. The service and the food were terrible! We asked for soup and the waitress asked if we wanted the soup before the meal. We said yes. When she brought out our meals, we asked her about the soup. She said, "Oh, did you want your soup before the meal?" What??? Also, the bun for the mediocre burger (even Wendy's makes a better burger) was old and hard. They toasted the bun in an attempt to hide its staleness. We also asked for some raw onions for the burgers and the waitress forgot all about them. Not inexpensive but very enjoyable. The food was EXCELLENT. From reading reviews, we decided to start with the coconut shrimp. The best we've ever had. My husband had the salmon wrapped in phyllo dough with mashed potatoes. I had the filet mignon. The fish was super fresh and the filet was super tender. The meals came with yummy rolls and salad. Had a local entertainer (Stan Princeton) singing. Really enjoyed everything. read more

Went for Sunday brunch on Aug 23, 2015. Tried to order orange juice to start. The young waiter told me he couldn't sell me a glass because they needed it for the Mimosas. We waited 45 minutes to get French toast and eggs. All this time there was no other diners eating any meals. No explanation for all delay. Houston we have a problem.My wife and I tried this place on Sat 4/21.It was my birthday wanted to try a new place.Always has a big crowd here on the weekend though it must be pretty good{made a 6:30 res}.What a mistake this was.There are too many tables in the dining room a lot of twisting and turning for people trying to get thru,way too much noise just not nice.We ordered the coconut shrimp,nice size shrimp no coconut taste at all as you cut the shrimp all the breading falls off because it was in the deep fryer too long ?My wife ordered the BLT Risotto the steak was so tough she kept on chewing and chewing and finally gave up,the risotto was so salty she could not eat it she asked me to try it and boy was she right.I had the loin of pork special with Asparagus and 3 steak fries,the pork was dry with no taste,the asparagus were long strings it look like pasta.After 15 min my wife as able to flag the waitress down and told her she could not eat it because it was too salty,she said it was may have been the Chorizo it says nothing on the menu about Chorizo so go figure.She wanted to bring my wife something else but my wife had a bad taste in her mouth already and said no thank you. She did take it off the bill.I took the rest of my dinner home looked at it the next morning and said I"m not eating this and threw it out.This was a one time try and never again. After many years of having breakfast and lunch at Brian's Place we had dinner in their new restaurant. Warm relaxing decor was very nice. We were very disappointed in the dinner. Very small portions of not only fish, but ribeye steak was not a full steak, and minimial side portions. The food looked lost on the large plates. My granddaughter had crab cakes that came to the table cold and my husband's steak was overcooked. Overall, I think the dinners were way overpriced for the portions we had. Although the lunch and breakfasts are really enjoyable I would not return for the dinners. read more

I was in town visiting my aunt and she took me here last week for my birthday. I had had lunch there before but never dinner. What a great meal! We started off with a large glass of homemade sangria, which was great. I ordered the special big eye tuna from HI with the crunchy fennel coating and it was excellent. The presentation was also very upscale. Even the house salad was noteworthy. We finished with the chocolate spice cake, which was also really good. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the area. read more

Went to a group party at Brian's place. Ordered the stuffed pork loin. When I cut the meat the center was uncooked. Waiter promptly replaced it with another. The second dish was the same as the first undercooked. The waiter immediately took it away and replaced it with the salmon, I mean you cannot mess up a salmon dish. Well the fish was a little dry and the sliced roasted potatoes were too hard, not cooked enough. The waiter staff was excellent and accommodating. After reading all of these good reviews I think that it was overwhelming for them to be able to handle over 100 people at the same time. read more

A group of 6 went for Mothers Day Dinner. Only 1 diner received a enjoyable meal. 2 diners ordered lobster, had to send back, very undercooked. 1 meal came back with raw lobster still. One diner had the chicken/shrimp dinner undercooked & shrimp raw. One steak dinner was so tough impossible to eat. Was brought another steak & it was so bloody it was running all over the plate plus a very tough cut of filet. Definitely not worth the price charged. After finishing the meal we waited over 25 minutes for the desserts, but it was delicious. We have taken Brian's Place off our list of places to go. read more

Went to Brian's place last winter before it moved into its new location. It was a small friendly but pretty classy place and the food was interesting (not spectacular, but at least interesting and well made). Was excited to introduce my son and his girlfriend to the restaurant this Christmas. Hadn't realized it moved a little ways down the road when I made the reservation. When we arrived we were welcomed nicely, and then placed at a table immediately in front of the kitchen door and the bathrooms (I had made the reservation over a week before!). Unlike the old restaurant, the ambiance is similar to a loud western saloon/bordello (complete with swinging doors into the bar). The high ceilings coupled with a hard surface floor make it nearly impossible to hear anyone at the table wihout speaking loudly. The red wall color, crystal chandeliers, and the open staircase to the second floor is reminiscent of Victorian bordellos I've seen in movies. The food was, again, interesting, but I'm afraid it didn't make up for the atmosphere. That coupled with the traffic in and out of the kitchen, an audible argument among wait staff, three changes of waitstaff to our table during the course of the meal, and constant traffic up and down the staircase to what must have been a party upstairs, did not make for the relaxing quiet meal I had envisioned. I had really hoped that we had finally found our "nice" restaurant close to home, but sadly, not yet. read more

Well....I've been in FL for 15yrs....in this area for at least dozen....tonight was the first night that I ventured into Brian's Place. My culinary experience started at 14 in Massachusetts, and have had an off-again-on-again relationship in the industry for 34yrs. I've read a few yelp reviews where people have said the service was slow, the music sub-par, and the food less than spectacular....SO WRONG!! My server, Patty, was bright, cheerful, and attentive...the musician was VERY good, and as it's a small place, asked the diners if he was too loud....everyone was pleased. Service was extremely prompt, yet I never felt rushed. Chef Brian had only a couple of specials available due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irma (just yesterday!!!, yet was open, unlike many other restaurants)....one special I chose was a very interesting Pork belly appetizer....this man has talent!! As I rave about it, I'm concerned that I may attempt to replicate it!! It was insanely good....the balance of contrasting flavors and textures rivaled (and in many ways exceeded) many renowned chefs whose fare I've tried. Short story long, this is a place worth visiting, again and again, as I plan on doing. I was able to shake Chef Brian's hand, and briefly converse.....I found him to be knowledgeable, articulate, not difficult to look at, and, more importantly, humble...he showed a genuine concern about his staff in the wake of the storm. We could benefit by more people like that. I recommend those that may have had less than positive things to revisit....and to those that haven't been there, please try it out....sorry about the lengthy review, but I'm picky, and if I can spread a level of my joy, I will!!! ;) read more

My wife and I went to dinner for our wedding anniversary on June 30, 2012. This was our 2nd time dining here because last year we also had dinner for our anniversary. This being the new location for us we were looking forward to a nice experience and it was not as it started out on a bad note. To backup just a little I had hip replacement surgery on June 12th and this was also my first time getting out of the house. So on our way to be seated at our table one of the employees came through one of the swinging double doors without looking and hit me so hard on my new hip that I almost passed out. My wife and hostess had to grab me before I fell and when I was able to move we sat at our table and tried to continue with the evening. The employee did come and apologize which was considerate but that was it. The owner or manager on duty that night did not even come to our table and see if I was okay. I sent a message to the restaurant and not even a call or note back. Now as to dinner, the waitress took our drink order and came back with the wrong drinks and as we stated to her that it was wrong she said she would let the bartender know but she failed to bring back the correct drinks, and we got charged for the wrong drinks. Now as we waited to order our meal, a group of VIP's came in. We know this because the hostess told us we could not sit at that particular table because it was for the "VIP's". We waited to have our order taken because they came in long after us and their order was taken and they got served before us. When we finally received our dinner the waitress ask if we would like another drink and she took our order and never returned with them. Almost 30 minutes went by and the waitress checked on us and we still did not get our drinks and she stated she thought we did. Nope! She went up front and brought them to us and at the same time our check and guess what, we got charged for the drinks then also. Very poor customer service! Very poor people skills! We will not go back to dinner there or recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!!! As for a rating you don't want to know. read more
