Crispy hash browns, perfect sunny side up eggs, steak, and the best onion straws I've ever had (the real reason I keep going back is the onion straws. A nice and quiet pub-style restaurant in Stillwater. I'm not from Minnesota and just was meeting some local friends there. Had the smoked meat ravioli and the sliders the two times I've been there. The ravioli was the better of the two. Had a "smoked" bourbon for $14 that was all gimmick and no added value. Skip it. The staff are great. Our waitress was new, but did an awesome job and was very friendly. Nice quiet atmosphere that I'd return to next time I'm in the area. Enjoyed our visit here. Do yourself a favor and check out the Yelp waitlist to see if you should get on it before coming out. It saved us a 2+ hour wait. The layout of the restaurant is a little cramped, especially back by the restrooms. If your table is right by one, you will likely have someone standing behind you the whole time. On to the food and drinks. The drink specials had a fun flair. I can't remember what the name of mine was, but it was a creamy cappuccino drink. Now that I think about it, it may have been called the Leonardo diCappucino. I tried some wings and the street corn for my meal. I liked the wings amd the corn was also good, but the "side" dish was large, I had someone helping me eat it and we still didn't finish it. Came here with some family on a Wednesday evening and got rooftop seating right away! There's a beautiful view of the river and bridge from the rooftop, and the sun is obstructed by the building/umbrellas in the evening. So 5 stars for that. But it didn't stop there, the food deserves 5 stars too! I got the smoked chicken and bacon Mac and cheese. Comes with a piece of bread, too. Not too cheesy, and perhaps more soupy than one would typically expect but i liked that. Overall, super tasty and would definitely recommend! The mango wine slushy was also great on a summer day, heard good things about the lavender mule, too! Overall good food, drinks, ambience, and priced reasonably. Service was extremely slow. We placed our order promptly and after 40 minutes of waiting for our food, we were told that it would be another 15-20 minutes for our food to arrive. So I've been to the Maplegrove location and since I live close to downtown Stillwater I figured I would try the Stillwater brick and bourbon. We were sat immediately, the space is much smaller than the Maplegrove location, and the decor is definitely different. We were greeted by two ladies one was in training and the other had been there for a while, or so it appeared based on how knowledgeable she was about the two locations. We ordered drinks two waters and a lemonade. A My friend ordered the PB and Jay and my girlfriend ordered the firecracker shrimp roll and a Caesar salad, I ordered the Caprese chicken. The food came out fairly fast which is good concerning they were full outside and almost full inside as well. The one thing that bothered me was that the lemonade came back twice with something floating in it. The lady was new but I would have thought on the second time she would have checked it to make sure it was okay to bring out. She did make sure to take it off my bill. Prior to her taking it off my bill she asked if I wanted another lemonade and after the first two times I declined. Other than that hiccup all was good. I'll definitely return, because even though the server made the same mistake, she was kind, courteous, and really wanted to help us to have a good experience. We came here for dinner on Sunday evening of MDW without a reservation and did not have to wait. We sat on the rooftop patio which overlooks the river, it was lovely! They have an extensive drink menu with a lot of fun options, including wine slushies. My friends and I all got cocktails while my husband got a bacon bourbon flight! We were impressed with the drinks, especially the blackberry and lavender flavored ones. I was bummed to see that their wings are bone-in instead of boneless. However, they have some boneless wings featured on their Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese, so I went with that as my entree! The gorgonzola + bleu cheese mix was creamy and delicious. The mac & cheese was rich without overdoing it. It came with 4 boneless buffalo wings on top, that seemed like enough to cut up and mix into the pasta. Serving size was good, prices were appropriate. My husband got the Roasted Short Rib Ravioli and really liked it. They have string lights on the patio but never turned them on, which left us eventually sitting in the dark as we got closer to their closing time of 9pm--we figured it wasn't worth it to ask them to turn them on as they were about to close. But you'd think it would be common sense to turn them on for the guests dining there as the sun starts going down. While I wouldn't say anything we had was incredible, we thought this was still a solid place for food/drinks and we really enjoyed the river view as the sun set! read more

It was a beautiful evening for rooftop dining. No wait. Awesome and friendly service. My hubby had the smoked maple old fashioned and said it was the best old fashioned he'd ever had. It came with bacon and a waffle, which was a key factor in the enjoyment but the drink itself as deliciously smooth. I had a blackberry smash which was very tasty. It came with two ripe blackberries. We all shared the duck bacon wontons. These get pretty good reviews and they were good but I didn't really taste duck or bacon. I had the chicken caprease sandwich was was only ok. I should have know when 90% of the menu is beef, chicken probably wasn't the best option. My side was brussel sprouts which were quite tasty with a good spicy flavor. Hubby had beef trio sliders with a side of hash browns which he said was different but good. Others had variations of Mac and cheese and loved it. In fact when I was walking through the restaurant in a trip to the restroom, I noticed that at nearly every table, someone had max and cheese. I'd probably get that next time. read more

Been to a few of B&B locations, and it's a consistently good experience every time. This location is on the smaller end, but has a loft to add some additional seating options. Lots of fun exposed brick and metal accents give the space some character that fits the brand. Service wasn't exactly "quick" this time around, but they are always friendly and positive! Food is standard quality American cuisine. Started out with two different soups: Tomato Basil and Pastrami Crock. Tomato Basil was definitely the better of the two with lots of flavor and a side of bread for dunking! For dinner, I had the Three Wiseman burger. My biggest pet peeve is when restaurants assume we want our burgers cooked well done and don't ask about cooking temperature preference. Accompaniments were yummy, but couldn't get over the dry burger. Fries were pretty standard. Probably one of the more generic of the many restaurants in Downtown Stillwater, but a good choice for less adventurous diners. read more

This is a place you need to stop at if I'm the downtown Stillwater area. They have multiple seats around the bar and plenty of tables for dinner. It does feel fancier, but they don't have a strict dress code so you could show up in non dress clothes. We did a smoked old fashioned that was so good. It comes with a piece of waffle and bacon and was so flavorful. It's worth a try for sure! Duck Bacon Wontons are something everyone should try at least once. I will continue to order as an appetizer every time I go, it's that good. The Million Dollar Medallions were also cooked so well. I think they put too many tomatoes on the plate, but didn't ruin the meal. Think it would look a little better with less. read more

We decided to stop here early on a Sunday to avoid the typical Stillwater patio dining waiting game. We arrived at 4:45 and were told the roof had a 45 minute wait - perfect! We causally shopped nearby and were seated around 5:30. We started with the duck bacon wontons. Don't skip these - they are exactly as good as they sound. The dipping sauce is magnificent. I had the short rib ravioli and the Mr. had the sirloin sliders. This is probably going to sound weird, but I was so glad that the portion of my pasta was something I could eat in one sitting. I hate paying for a ton of pasta when the cream sauce doesn't reheat well as leftovers and ultimately ends up in the trash. Mr. said the sliders were juicy and interesting and would order them again. We ended with the chocolate cigars, which could have used a few more seconds in the fryer (on the soggy side) but O. M. G. we did t care because the chocolate Nutella filling was the star of the show. Our server was a delight, checked in often enough but not in our business much. I am truly impressed with how delicious this place was. It defined was a wait for food because if how busy it was but when it came to the food it did not disappoint. Both salads were delicious and have to rate my apple salad in the top 3 that I've had in my life. We also orders the stake sliders and wow that was simply amazing as well. The ice cream sandwich was as big as two heads out together. Seriously craziest dessert I've ever had but goodness so worth it. It seems the award of most complex dessert. PB & Jay A handcrafted burger patty covered in habanero jack cheese and topped with our extra thick cut bacon. A specialty honey-glazed donut is lightly spread with mayo, tart sriracha pomegranate marmalade, and homemade creamy bourbon peanut butter. Chicken Caprese All-natural chicken topped with fresh mozzarella, fresh bruschetta mix, and balsamic drizzle. My mission was to order the duck wontons, but they were sold out I guess it is a popular appetizer item and by Sunday night they may be sold out just an FYI as it's not the first time they have sold out. In the words of a Christmas Story A++++++++++ Labor Day had our usual picks closed, so, we branched out a bit & stopped here. We've looked over the menu before but didn't see anything that screamed "must have" - so, we'd end up elsewhere. We walked in & were told immediate seating for 2 inside or about 45min for outside. We opted for inside. Service was excellent & our gal was in the know for all of the menu items. She was pleasant & personable. Table Service was on point. If I were on the fence here, the service one table over would have pushed me in the right direction. As I mentioned, there was a host seating guests. A group of 4 came in, 2 of which had special needs. The hostess was seating another party, thus, away from the podium when they entered. They seated themselves at the recently vacated table next to us &, when staff saw this, they went right along as if it were the norm. No belittling, no reprimanding, no sighs or eye rolls- just service with a smile. When the family saw others waiting to be seated, they apologized, clearly having not realized that it wasn't self-seating. The staff reassured them that everything was good - to me, this spoke volumes. We ordered & honestly expected good food, but nothing truly memorable. Imagine my surprise at what I'm going to list as my first crave-worthy dish in a long time. (Last was Saffron in NOLA) Every drink we ordered - beautifully presented & delicious. We ordered several. While we waited on our food, we took in the decor & it was well-suited to the bourbon theme. I could have sat there all day. Brick and Bourbon apparently does not want customers and actively encourages you to go elsewhere through their actions. I wish I had read the one star reviews before choosing this restaurant, as the exact same issues happened to us. Apparently this is a consistent problem that Brick and Bourbon chooses not to correct. Their website says they do not take reservations after 5:30 on Saturday and to add yourself to their waitlist on Yelp. I've used this feature before at another restaurant, and it worked perfectly. The idea is you can wait virtually rather than at the restaurant. I added our group of 4 to the waitlist at 5:13, hoping to be seated at 5:45. We had somewhere to be at 7:30. Yelp said to check in at 5:44 and estimated seating time was 5:44-5:59. We were third on the waitlist when we were added, with two groups of 6 ahead of us. We arrived about 5:47. The hostess was incredibly rude and inhospitable. She said it would be another 45-60 minutes. We noted that we were already on the waitlist for 30+ minutes. They said we were next on the waitlist. I don't see how it's possible that you would have an hour wait for the party at the top of the waitlist. That means you expect every single person in the restaurant to be there for another hour. If that's accurate, then this restaurant is absolutely terrible at turning tables and are very very slow. There was an open table for 6. We asked about that table. They would not seat a group of 4 at a table for 6. I could see not seating a group of 4 at a table for 8+, but I've never in my life seen a restaurant refuse to seat a group that is literally standing there ready to eat and instead wait for a group with two more people to arrive. Then they tried to tell us that the open table was reserved. We asked how that could be when it was now nearly 6 by this point, and their website says they do not take reservations after 5:30. They said it was an earlier reservation and that group wasn't there yet. Again, what kind of restaurant holds a reservation a half an hour plus after the designated time when the group isn't present and you have customers standing right there waiting to be seated. The manager came over and tried to assist us. She was kinder than the two hostesses and did attempt to help. She said there were a few groups about to leave, and she'd get us the next open table. At this point we're mad and don't even want to eat there anymore, but don't know if we can get in anywhere else at 6 pm on a Saturday. We waited another 5 minutes. Then our husbands went across the street to Mad Capper and were able to be seated immediately. So we left and will not ever be returning. I've worked in restaurants as both a hostess and server. I have never in my life been treated so poorly just trying to be seated and seen such terrible business practices at a restaurant. I completely understand that the virtual waitlist is still a waitlist, and you may have to wait for an open table once you arrive. That is not the issue. If they had said yep you're next on the waitlist you get the next open table, we would've been happy with that. We were expecting to be seated between 5:45-6. But instead, they said it would be another 60 minutes (around 7 seating time) in addition to what Yelp said. This is completely unacceptable, and the restaurant has shown they'd rather give excuses than fix the actual problem. Edit after owner's response: For the record, Gary, we were not upset a table wasn't ready when we arrived. We were upset we were told it was going to be another HOUR to seat us. If you had several tables about ready to open up, then why did they tell us it would be an hour wait still after we arrived? Apparently I should've made a reservation for 5-5:30 (even knowing I wasn't going to get there until 5:45) since you don't seat anyone timely within their reservation or waitlist period. We only gave your staff 5-10 minutes to fix it because we were upset that our virtual wait time was then doubled when we arrived in person and no longer wanted to provide you with our business. Ultimately, your responses to reviews and the consistent problems seating in reviews reflects poorly on you and your business. It makes no difference to me. I will not return. But you will continue to anger customers and get poor reviews if you don't turn tables faster, sit people timely, and set appropriate expectations for wait times both in person and through Yelp. The only people you're hurting here is yourself and your staff. Just some advice. Take it or leave it. read more

This was our first and last time visiting Brick and Bourbon. When we arrived we were seated in a small upstairs area. The floors were greasy and felt like we could slide to our seats. Our server was pleasant and the food was pretty good. However, the bar was out of vermouth and only had a small amount of the bourbon one person ordered. The beef stroganoff had very little beef in it. After we finished our entrees the server brought our bill. The whole evening felt rushed. We were never asked about additional drinks. I wanted to try the peanut butter pie (a highlight) so I asked for dessert. As we finished our dessert the manager came to our table. She advised us that we needed to leave because she needed our table for a large group. We arrived at 6:00 and were told to leave at 7:00. Nothing was said when we arrived. I was put off by this as I drove to the restaurant with no issues, roads were all cleared, and it was a bright sunny day. That was a year and a half ago. This time it's a warm September morning, my husband and I decided on this spot for brunch. We arrive, it's open, so that's a good sign. I'm hungover as shit so I am in need of coffee and grub asap. That did not happen. Service is slow. I mean so slow I didn't get my coffee until our food arrived. What? On a Sunday at brunch you don't have coffee ready?? Ok... Not only was coffee slow, water was too, the second thing I needed. My dehydrated brain was desperate for water and I also needed it to wash down the dirty sock they served me. We ordered a steak hash skillet breakfast thing and French toast. The hash dish tasted like what moldy laundry that you wash and forget to put in the dryer for a few days smells like. French toast was mediocre. Maybe on a nice summer day or evening a beer on the deck would be fine, but I'd be fine not returning for that either. read more

I gave a one star, which is totally deserved for the meal I ordered. I also left a short note on the FB website re not being thrilled with this restaurant. Some places will take it as something to look at, maybe worth considering etc. What I got was multi page emails re how I failed as a customer and human being. The following is the original review: Not really worth it, not that special, music is too loud and it's not something you'd want to listen to and having a conversation is tough. We were celebrating a birthday and her meal was good (burger) as were the martinis. I can't say the same for the poutine. Maybe I'm spoiled as I lived in Montreal for a while, but what I was served was not pleasing to look at, the amount of cheese curds was minuscule, the gravy was salty and non flavorful and looked quite unappealing. The really interesting thing was how the bill was presented and then disappeared again. I was given a check, looked at it, pass over my card, it was taken away and another non itemized bill given that was nearly $20 higher. I asked for the itemized bill, and it wasn't immediately available, so the manager had to be called and make this happen. The error was noted and now I have the $20+ bill sitting in pending on my account x 2 along with the right amount. In emails to me this manager had let me know that it was unfair that I use my middle name and initial, so I'm dishonest. Women are known to do such things. Lots of weirdos out there. He let me know the fact that the poutine was unappealing, is because you can't do anything due to the gravy. Which is salty and mostly tasteless. The issue with the bill was an honest error per the manager reaching out, yet every restaurant I go to always has the itemized bill and customer and merchant copy, it did seem sketchy, but maybe an honest error or something to watch for. I gave the benefit of the doubt, I did tip close to 18% if recollection serves. Usually I tip 20+%. This manager fails to notice he has a lot of competition in a very touristy area, his space has had several other restaurants I've been too, that didn't make it for much the same reasons. If you write a negative review he will right fight with you. I don't think it's asking much to have good food, nice ambiance, ability to have a conversation, and errorless billing. read more
