One of our local favorite spots. The food is on point and the varied menu has something for everyone. The cocktails are equally delightful and the service is consistently good. One downfall is it can be very loud on a busy night. On our recent visit, we all enjoyed our dinner and cocktails. I had the pepperoni pizza (which I've had before) which is one of my favs when I'm in the mood for pizza. Hubby had the mac & cheese which has spicy bacon-wrapped shrimp. The shrimp were huge and perfectly cooked over a very creamy and tasty macaroni. One of our friends had the honey glazed meatloaf and said it was great and our other friend had the tenderloin sliders, which she said were very good. All-in-all, another lovely dinner.

Classic country club ambiance with starters to die for and entrees that only suffice. This place obviously caters to the quick snack and drink needs for golfers and community get-togethers, but as walk-ins for just food we were very welcomed. Getting to the dining area will require a short stroll to the "back" of the clubhouse. Ambiance is fine indoors, but we really enjoy the summer evening breeze overlooking the green. Appetizers and some specialty (non-alcoholic) drinks 5/5 The Cajun chicken soup is amazing and the wedge salad was delicious. Entrees were maybe 2-3/5 The wick burger was very very plain and slightly over done for my liking. The fish tacos were also quite average and the portion wasn't as large as you'd think. Those who served us (there was a few) all did a great job. Seems like they hire young people from the community and train them well. They were prompt and polite and did so with a smile. I would recommend the visit if you're nearby and want some casual/comfortable sit down dining. Prices are not great, but were reasonable. Think $17-22 per person range.

My wife and stopped in for a beer and some wings. Pretty cool atmosphere and we sat at the bar. The bartender did a great job and was knowledgeable. We got the Cajun seasoned wings and they were delicious. The wings were big and meaty and had great flavor. Would definitely check this place out again to try other dishes.

It always seems like there is a really relaxed vibe and the low lighting and heated bar really add to this experience. I used to think that The Abbey was just a bar (by no means a bad thing!) but I stopped in for lunch and had a spectacular pulled pork sandwich a few days ago. Dare I say it... The best pulled pork sandwich in downtown Menomonie?! The sauce sounds like it would be weird because there is mustard in it but I can confirm that it is delicious and really makes the sandwich. Props to The Abbey for having a limited menu and having a few really good dishes instead of a bunch of average bar food. Apart from the atmosphere, food and staff there are really good drink specials at The Abbey as well! Every day there is a near unbearable special. When school is in session these deals are definitely taken advantage of by the Stout students. If I had to credit this place for just one thing it would be that the building itself is such a relaxing place. No flashing lights, no overly loud music and no amateur DJ screaming at the top of their lungs like other bars in Menomonie. Even yet, if inside is a little too much you can always step out onto the patio. If you're looking for a relaxed cocktail in Menomonie this is your place.

And just when you think your whole day is shot because the slaw has broccoli (we know that Wisconsinites loathe anything that did not have parents) bam - there's bacon in it! Abbey (from the Abbey) is the coolest Abbey I know. Much cooler than any other Abbey, including Westminster and Downton. My dog enjoys the back patio where she can chill and dream about all the wonderful smells that waft from the kitchen. The sandwiches are amazing. The drinks are made well and the free chaser is like a prize my liver didn't know it won.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

The food includes the Irish stuff you would expect, and in the past they've been great. Think fish & chips, Shepards pie (actually cottage). My friend and I had sandwiches this visit and they were great. The menu says you get chips. What you get is a generous portion of deep fried potato rounds, just a little thick. Some crunchy and some a little soft. The dill pickle... not my favorite but that's my take. Do Not skip the appetizer. The mushrooms are amazing. They are roasted or braised, and they are delicious. There are Irish beers here including Guinness, Harp, etc. or if you prefer something else there's a full bar.
