Redeemed themselves with quick and efficient manager service. The waitress kept mixing up our orders / drinks and kept asking us to repeat ourselves. She was nice but clueless.. She charged my husband twice because she forgot a drink we had. We have no issues with that - main issue is food. This is the second time where we have had subpar food (last time was in February involving dry brisket sandwiches which was not documented). Food is NOT good. Case in point: ordered Thai salad with their signature sesame chicken sticks. Salad came and it was covered with a crap load of green onions/scallions with the STALKS and they were inedible garnish. Plus the onions looked like they were chewed by cats. Dressing was flavorless and the iceberg lettuce was extremely soggy They did make up for it by removing the salad off of my bill and gave us a gift card. The management responded so quickly and I am grateful that they owned up to their shortcoming. The management is the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars. Sunday evening we had a party of 10 celebrating our granddaughter's birthday. Our server, Nathalie, was amazing! She was so engaging, complementary, and present from start to finish. She took our orders promptly, making sure everything tasted good and our glasses never were empty, waiting for her to come back for refills. She was so engaging and friendly and professional through the entire experience there. Even at the end of the meal, rather than hand me the take home container, she took it and did it for me. We have gone out for dinner many many times and I have to say, I believe she is the best server we have ever had! The Tavern is lucky to have her! We went here for brunch at 11:00 Sunday. After we were seated and ordered our food, it took those that ordered an entree over 45 minutes to get it. When the food did come out, one dish had a hair cooked in it and another was cold. They did take off some for the cost of the entree but they clearly cannot keep up with amount of customers probably due to shortages in staffing. They should only offer the buffet if that's the case or limit the number of reservations they take. I don't plan to return anytime soon. read more

Lemon chicken was lukewarm, flavorless, served on a bed of dry noodles with no sauce. Summary: The bottom line is we will most likely not return. For sure, never on a Friday or Saturday dinner hour. We went here yesterday, on Mother's Day. We had a reservation and were told when we were seated that our reservations is for 1hr 15min. NO WHERE did it say that when we made our reservation. We picked this place because it offered plated options for a reasonable price along with their $35 per person buffet. We were there with my elderly in-laws. By the time we got our food, we had a very limited time to eat before our reservation was over, not to mention adding in bathroom trips for my mother-in-law during our meal. The staff was nice and our server was fine, but that really isn't much time for a meal when you need to order and wait for your food on a VERY busy day. Food poisoning. Came up on a Friday for a hockey tournament. This place was close and had good reviews. My son woke up at 4:00am the following morning with "knives" in his stomach. He proceeded to spend the entire Saturday on the toilet or throwing up into it. The last vomit count was 20. There was a time early on that he couldn't hold down water. We've narrowed it down to his salad with grilled chicken breast and ranch. The rest of the family was not affected as we luckily picked the non-contaminated menu items. We are cautious on the food we provide pre-game and my son had granola and bananas. This was not the cause of the misery. Another parent from our team ate at the same restaurant that night. Low and behold he had the same miserable symptoms on Saturday. After two days the GM finally called me back, with no remorse. This past Saturday, my wife and I stopped by one of our favorite restaurant's patio, The Tavern in Woodbury. I order a margherita on the rocks, no salt and when asked what type of tequila I wanted I answered just what the "bar tequila" was. I had two margheritas, both came with salt, but I wiped the salt off and had my drinks. The problem was I was charged for "Patron" tequila, ice and another charge I don't remember. The cost of the two drinks was way crazy. And it was "happy hour". Instead of leaving satisfied, this experience has left me wonder weather I'll ever return to The Tavern. Very long waits and inefficient placement of staff. For some reason they need three hosts (who never greet you, but stand around chatting to each other instead) and they only had one bartender? Yikes. No wonder there's a long ass wait. I do want to say that our waitress was very nice and helpful though. She was covering for another waitress. She was helpful with recommendations. I ordered the lemon shrimp. It was breaded and fried and placed on top of a lemon sauce. The Jasmin rice was cooked nicely but I thought the bland rice did not pair very well with the shrimp. We went around 6pm and it was busy, but no wait time for our party of 3. We got seated and our server showed up about 5 mins after we sat down and took drink orders. 2 people ordered water and they don't serve that with a straw. My mom asked for 2 straws and our server had forgotten about that. I let it slide because he was busy. When he brought back the straws, which only took maybe a minute, he took our entree order. We ordered the teriyaki salmon, French dip, and grilled meatloaf. About 15-20 mins went by before our appetizers even came out. Once the appetizers came out, our food showed up about 3-5 mins later. We had barely touched the appetizers and were disappointed with the quick timing. Being that it took about 20mins for an appetizer and then we get our entrees and can't enjoy the appetizers. The lady who brought out the entrees apologized. The cheese curds were good and I would order them again. I also liked the bang bang shrimp, but I had to ask for more sauce as they weren't evenly coated. I do wish the sauce had more of a kick to it. My bf and mom shared the salmon and meatloaf, they each liked both. The mashed potatoes from the meatloaf were good. They had a nice garlic flavor. The French dip is something I wouldn't order again, the au jus had a flavor that I didn't care for and the beef was too fatty for my liking. The angle fries were good and crispy. I would say this is one of the better restaurants in Woodbury. Good Bloody Mary, nice happy hour, and brunch on Sundays. My office isn't far and I like to stop by at Happy Hour when it isn't quite so busy. My favorite thing their is the taco pizza. We were there for a drink and appetizers after an early movie finish about 6 pm on Saturday night. We were seated in a booth right away and the atmosphere was very nice with lots of families with children. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. The establishment has the most unpleasant payment experience I have ever had anywhere. Our pleasant server presented our bill to us on her payment pad (the only payment option). The pad showed a Total dollar amount (pay by credit card only) not sure how they would handle a cash payment), and your choice of a tip of 20%, 25%, or 30% or Custom amount, before you even saw if the items that you ordered were actually correct. The server was forced to stand over you as you went through the whole payment process under her watchful gaze. After you inserted your card into the pad, the system offered to email a receipt IF you gave them your email account which then signed you up for their junk-mail loyalty program. (again without listing the items and prices of the products that you may or may not have received). I did receive an email with the "welcome" to the loyalty program by the time I got home, but again without an itemized list. I am still waiting for an itemized list. The french onion soup was very good. The spinach, artichoke dip was a mess of melted cheese over a mixture of sun-dried tomato and dried spinach flakes, mixed in sweet Campbell's cheese soup, served with a generous number of slices stale french bread smeared with garlic butter. (I didn't find any artichoke in the sweet cheese soup concoction.) We shared a slice of heavily frosted carrot cake, which was a sliver about one half inch thick laid flat down on a plate with a rounded dip of vanilla ice cream and two rounded dips of whipped cream or maybe vanilla cool whip on top of the sliver of carrot cake with a small syrup pitcher of a caramel colored liquid on the side to poor on top if you wanted the full diabetic shock treatment. My straight-up martini was served in a regular martini glass that was barely half full. (not sure if the waitress spilled some of the drink on the way to our table or if that was the way it is made here (4 to 6 oz). My wife's mocktail was about half simple syrup and cranberry cocktail mix with a slice of frozen fig shoved on top as garnish. read more

We come here about once every month or two and it's always a great experience and prices are very in line with the atmosphere. We were able to catch a Vikings game last Sunday and watch outside at the bar. It was a beautiful day and the bar was full of lively people and the bartenders were having a great time with the Packers and Vikings fans that were watching. I wish they were able to hook up the speakers to listen to the game, but we made the best of it and were able to socialize with the other spectators. Parking is always easy as they have a huge lot. If you are a member, which we are, you can get great deals on beers. Food options are great, especially the build your own burgers.
