It's been a few years since we were at this location and today the lunch service and the food were sub par. Placed our order at 1 p.m. on a Monday and it took 35 minutes for our food to arrive. One salad, one wrap sandwich and one toasted sandwich. Not excited to be asked if we wanted avacado with the salad and wrap only to find out there was a $2.50 unannounced upcharge each. The % tip options when paying are calculated on the food bill and sales tax! When It was time to pay at the table the check was placed print down on the end of the table and the waitress reached for my credit card to swipe before I was given a chance to even see the bill. The salad was really ordinary and the hot sandwich was a greasy mess. Oh and banana peppers offered on the toasted sandwich were a 75 cent up-charge. Not a solid experience. read more

I've been to several other Tavern locations, and this one didn't disappoint. We sat on the spacious outdoor patio, the only thing I would improve is if they had heat lamps they could move near the tables because it was one of those nights where it got much cooler as we sat there. I got the smash burger and chose mashed potatoes for my side (odd combo but rust is what I was in the mood for). Tavern grill is a great place to stop by on a weeknight or weekend as somewhere casual! I highly recommend the trio platter and the boneless wings. I liked that the wings were thinly breaded. I thought the bang bang shrimp would be a hit but it had that fishy freezer after taste unfortunately. Otherwise it's a great location with great service. Visited 8/7/25. Probs like a 3.5/5 so rounded up! Liked their large drink selection-drinks were definitely on the sweeter side but were still fun for a patio vibe. Redeemed themselves with quick and efficient manager service. The waitress kept mixing up our orders / drinks and kept asking us to repeat ourselves. She was nice but clueless.. She charged my husband twice because she forgot a drink we had. We have no issues with that - main issue is food. This is the second time where we have had subpar food (last time was in February involving dry brisket sandwiches which was not documented). Food is NOT good. Case in point: ordered Thai salad with their signature sesame chicken sticks. Salad came and it was covered with a crap load of green onions/scallions with the STALKS and they were inedible garnish. Plus the onions looked like they were chewed by cats. Dressing was flavorless and the iceberg lettuce was extremely soggy They did make up for it by removing the salad off of my bill and gave us a gift card. The management responded so quickly and I am grateful that they owned up to their shortcoming. The management is the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars. Sunday evening we had a party of 10 celebrating our granddaughter's birthday. Our server, Nathalie, was amazing! She was so engaging, complementary, and present from start to finish. She took our orders promptly, making sure everything tasted good and our glasses never were empty, waiting for her to come back for refills. She was so engaging and friendly and professional through the entire experience there. Even at the end of the meal, rather than hand me the take home container, she took it and did it for me. We have gone out for dinner many many times and I have to say, I believe she is the best server we have ever had! The Tavern is lucky to have her! We went here for brunch at 11:00 Sunday. After we were seated and ordered our food, it took those that ordered an entree over 45 minutes to get it. When the food did come out, one dish had a hair cooked in it and another was cold. They did take off some for the cost of the entree but they clearly cannot keep up with amount of customers probably due to shortages in staffing. They should only offer the buffet if that's the case or limit the number of reservations they take. I don't plan to return anytime soon. read more

Honestly, it was terrible. Lukewarm, heavy onion flavor, beef was tough and had minimal cream sauce. I had a few bites and stopped. - Two others ordered the lemon chicken. Lemon chicken was lukewarm, flavorless, served on a bed of dry noodles with no sauce. Summary: The bottom line is we will most likely not return. For sure, never on a Friday or Saturday dinner hour. Made reservations for 9 and they sat us at a table for 8 and just moved another chair in. For $25 a plate for brunch we could not even eat comfortably. All brunch food was cold. Warners must not be working. My son said the pancakes tasted like McDonalds so he was happy :) However he never even got a drink refill once after asking. Food poisoning. Came up on a Friday for a hockey tournament. This place was close and had good reviews. My son woke up at 4:00am the following morning with "knives" in his stomach. He proceeded to spend the entire Saturday on the toilet or throwing up into it. The last vomit count was 20. There was a time early on that he couldn't hold down water. We've narrowed it down to his salad with grilled chicken breast and ranch. The rest of the family was not affected as we luckily picked the non-contaminated menu items. We are cautious on the food we provide pre-game and my son had granola and bananas. This was not the cause of the misery. Another parent from our team ate at the same restaurant that night. Low and behold he had the same miserable symptoms on Saturday. After two days the GM finally called me back, with no remorse. Just generic questions and was overly cautious to not imply guilt on their behalf. If you're a risk taker, try this place out. read more

We went here yesterday, on Mother's Day. We had a reservation and were told when we were seated that our reservations is for 1hr 15min. NO WHERE did it say that when we made our reservation. We picked this place because it offered plated options for a reasonable price along with their $35 per person buffet. We were there with my elderly in-laws. By the time we got our food, we had a very limited time to eat before our reservation was over, not to mention adding in bathroom trips for my mother-in-law during our meal. The staff was nice and our server was fine, but that really isn't much time for a meal when you need to order and wait for your food on a VERY busy day. This place is ALWAYS busy but it's because they do "American" cuisine well plus there aren't many restaurants in the Woodbury area to handle their growing population. I somehow joined for free when they first opened in Woodbury but now I believe it's a one time $20 charge. Once you sign up you receive 20% off your bill and can get a 25oz beer for $4.75! Such a great deal! I have never ordered anything there that I didn't like. They have great build your own bloody mary, salad, or burger. Plus a ton of other options in their menu. Very long waits and inefficient placement of staff. For some reason they need three hosts (who never greet you, but stand around chatting to each other instead) and they only had one bartender? Yikes. No wonder there's a long ass wait. I do want to say that our waitress was very nice and helpful though. She was covering for another waitress. She was helpful with recommendations. I ordered the lemon shrimp. It was breaded and fried and placed on top of a lemon sauce. The Jasmin rice was cooked nicely but I thought the bland rice did not pair very well with the shrimp. It needed more flavoring. Perhaps tossing it in some butter and spices would help. Probably will just eat at Tamarack Tap instead. They do everything better. read more

This past Saturday, my wife and I stopped by one of our favorite restaurant's patio, The Tavern in Woodbury. I order a margherita on the rocks, no salt and when asked what type of tequila I wanted I answered just what the "bar tequila" was. I had two margheritas, both came with salt, but I wiped the salt off and had my drinks. The problem was I was charged for "Patron" tequila, ice and another charge I don't remember. The cost of the two drinks was way crazy. And it was "happy hour". Instead of leaving satisfied, this experience has left me wonder weather I'll ever return to The Tavern. We went around 6pm and it was busy, but no wait time for our party of 3. We got seated and our server showed up about 5 mins after we sat down and took drink orders. 2 people ordered water and they don't serve that with a straw. My mom asked for 2 straws and our server had forgotten about that. I let it slide because he was busy. He came back to take our order and we initially just ordered appetizers- bang bang shrimp, sliders, and cheese curds. Again asking for those straws for the water. When he brought back the straws, which only took maybe a minute, he took our entree order. We ordered the teriyaki salmon, French dip, and grilled meatloaf. About 15-20 mins went by before our appetizers even came out. Once the appetizers came out, our food showed up about 3-5 mins later. We had barely touched the appetizers and were disappointed with the quick timing. Being that it took about 20mins for an appetizer and then we get our entrees and can't enjoy the appetizers. The lady who brought out the entrees apologized. The cheese curds were good and I would order them again. I also liked the bang bang shrimp, but I had to ask for more sauce as they weren't evenly coated. I do wish the sauce had more of a kick to it. My bf and mom shared the salmon and meatloaf, they each liked both. The mashed potatoes from the meatloaf were good. They had a nice garlic flavor. The French dip is something I wouldn't order again, the au jus had a flavor that I didn't care for and the beef was too fatty for my liking. The angle fries were good and crispy. I would say this is one of the better restaurants in Woodbury. Good Bloody Mary, nice happy hour, and brunch on Sundays. My office isn't far and I like to stop by at Happy Hour when it isn't quite so busy. My favorite thing their is the taco pizza. For real, that crust is like a cross between a croissant and a tortilla. The meat is perfectly seasoned with plenty of cheese lettuce and two types of sauces, I think like a red and green.
