I know they have a validation scheme where if you get three validations you get a watery discount, but it's just too much work. Just gimme the first hour free huh? Full validation for paying customers? Anyway... it's a bitter pill to swallow since coming downtown already comes with its own headaches. But I digress.

(No harm no foul...just offering an observation for the advantage of others) Bad: Nobody offered to help (employees stayed behind the counter while we were there). Odd: Organization/layout and display shelves were a challenge. Some areas were clearly organized and others less so. Just when I started to think I was understanding the organizational scheme, I'd find a game that obviously belonged with a group of others on the other side of the store. Just my opinion, but there is enough selection here that an alphabetical layout scheme would probably make sense. Suggestion: Pick an identity: Toy store or game shop? Gone are the days of the bizarrely mixed toy department in the basement of the local sporting goods store. Board games have moved beyond classification as "toys" and into the realm of being a true hobby all its own. If Uncles decides to focus up as a game store, consider dumping the little kid toys and leaning heavier into collectibles loved by most gamers (e.g. Funko, Iron Studios, Superhero/Fantasy/Sci-Fi stuff, etc.) Parking: rough. (Seemed as though downtown paid street parking was the only option.) Pricing is pretty standard for brick and mortar...a touch higher than you can find online in most cases. (I call it the "Instant Gratification Tax.") At the end of the day, I came away feeling as though the shop might be run by a pair of contentious siblings...one who loves modern board games and the other who is convinced that kid's toys are the way to go. Combining them in this small a space was OK in the '80s but now is just confusing for both groups.

To which I said, heck yeah! He told me that I had to check out this place called, Jedi Alliance, an arcade with a bunch of old school games. Say no more, I'm in. However, they're only open Friday through Sunday, which makes it difficult for me and my work schedule. Fast forward to today (Sunday), I had the window of opportunity to make the hour drive to Spokane with the hopes that this arcade was all that I dreamt it to be lol. My friend had no idea where we were going and was still confused when we pulled into the parking lot. When we walked in, I got the instant nostalgic old school vibe and feel as it was kinda dim with all the games and machines giving the place a magical glow. "Voltron" greeted us and asked if we've ever been in before and we said no, we're first timers. He was really nice and when he went over the rules, he spoke calmly and read the rules in a speed that we actually understood. Sometimes you go to these game places and when they explain how things work, they either speed talk or mumble. Voltron did a great job giving us the run down and instructions and even gave us some history on the place. The cost is $18 per person with unlimited play from open to close, which I found as a great value because we ended up losing ourselves there for 3 to 4 hours! There's over 140 classic pinball and joystick games, which is outstandingly epic. There's no other place in this area that offers this many games and with the variety of retro classics too. I'm not sure if it's because I'm born in the early 80s, but this place hits the bullseye. I had a blast reminiscing from when I was a kid and I kept hearing my friend say, this is so fun, lol. The bonus is the fact they have a hand washing station, which I definitely used a few times. With all the hands touching the machines, I really appreciate the owner's thoughtfulness. Jedi Alliance has more than just games, they have a museum of retro pop culture movie posters and props, a huge collection of old school dolls, figurines, toys, and games. Some things are for sale and some things are not. Overall, this was one of the best times I've had in quite some time and will definitely be back.

As someone who works professionally in comics and illustration, comic book stores are akin to a blood pressure machine: It's where I go to engage with my industry, check its pulse and lifeblood, and this place has been an ideal solution for all of the above. Anything that isn't on their very generous rack of new releases can be very easily ordered/subscribed to, with the added benefit of a 10% subscriber discount. They also have a very good selection of graphic novels and collected trade editions, both new and used. My only complaint is that I have to drive a long @$$ way to get there--*deep sigh* I live in North Idaho--but this store has been a tentpole to my continued sanity. North Idaho, as its name implies, doesn't put a lot of value on entertainment arts and culture (in my experience). I purchased multiple pairs of shoes that were advertised as Cole Haan and Kurt Geiger. When I picked them up, the items were wrapped in black plastic, so I could not verify the contents. Once home, I discovered that the shoes and boxes were branded LIPHNE, not the brands advertised in the listings. My daughter also purchased a scrub set that was advertised as Allheart. The item she received was unbranded and weren't the Allheart product that was advertised. What makes this even more frustrating is that customers pay a buyer's premium on purchases, increasing the total cost beyond the winning bid price. Then, if you need to return an item, you will also be charged a restocking fee. In my opinion, customers should not be paying additional fees when the product received does not match the product that was advertised!!!!! As consumers, we rely on product descriptions, photos, and brand names when making purchasing decisions. Receiving products that do not match the advertised brand raises serious concerns about the accuracy of these listings. I have screenshots of the listings and photographs of the products received. I have contacted the company and requested a resolution. Until this issue is resolved, I would encourage anyone shopping with BuyWander to carefully inspect every purchase and compare it to the original listing before the return window expires. Consumers deserve accurate product descriptions, honest branding, transparent fees, and fair return policies.
