This is a gorgeous B & B! We stayed here for a weekend about 1 year ago in the Rose Suite…read more I think people who appreciate history and antiques would really love this place (the bathrooms are modern). Great customer service from Wilma! She's very knowledgeable and helpful, which I appreciated. Breakfast is not served on site. They give you vouchers for breakfast/lunch at nearby restaurants. We went to one within walking distance (less than .5 miles). It was a great morning walk and we stopped by several of the antique stores on the way back to CL. We definitely plan to visit again. We stayed in the Foote suite, which was decorated in very soft yellow curtains and comforter. It also included two small chandeliers with adjustable lighting. The bathroom looked completely renovated with comfortable tiling and a nice big shower. We also purchased the lunch package which included two sandwiches, a choice of side, water bottles and cookie! It also included everything you need for the beach; towels, chairs, umbrella, blankets and books! We loved our lunch and looking for sea glass. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet get away, or anniversary celebration!

We arrived right at 3 for our check in and received a warm welcome from Lesley complete with a review of the property and tour of the space. Very helpful to know where everything is right away! Plus - a welcome cocktail and sweet bread was waiting for us! Delicious! The room: we stayed in La Due, which had an amazingly comfortable king bed, ceiling fan, and tub/shower combo. No detail goes unnoticed in the room, the towels are soft and match the floor rugs beautifully. Robes are available for guests and plenty of outlet space for charging is around the room. A note to visitors: the shared refrigerator for guests is only a mini-fridge, so there isn't much storage space. We'd suggest planning ahead and bringing a cooler for any larger items you wanted to store - or calling ahead to see about options. When we wanted to chill champagne, Lesley was wonderful to assist us with an ice bucket and two glasses! I highly recommend a trip here - friendly, relaxing, and so comfortable!

Set up similar to a B&B but breakfast is continental. Lots of area information in the common spaces. Our room was huge. The two queen beds were separated by a wall, which we worried about for TV watching but ended up being fine. The home is nice, older and maybe in need of some repairs to certain places. Very charming and clean. Our room was lovely. The neighborhood seemed decent (right across from a college). Free off-street parking, free wi-fi. Must be able to get yourself and your bags up to the second floor as there is no elevator. Also, they prefer cash or checks for payment, and payment is taken before you check out. Very comfortable, clean, and nice place. If I'm in Erie again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. Oh! And it's inexpensive too!!!

Really nice accommodations, air conditioned rooms, and good coffee in the morning. The home has 10 ft ceilings, wide plank floors, period wallpaper, and orig woodwork. I will say that if you are sensitive to noise there is quite a bit of that starting at 7am. The room we had was 2 connecting rooms, so the kids slept in adjoining one. This worked out very well. I wish we could have stayed another night, but it was booked.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the ambience, comfort, food, and hospitality offered by Martin and Phillip. This is an elegant, first class, traditional Bed & Breakfast with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The mansion is less assuming on the outside than the White Inn, which I've stayed at many times before, but is much classier, far more comfortable, and much higher quality. Martin and Phillip create a peaceful and cozy home away from home with glowing fireplaces, soft music, bottomless cups of tea/coffee, and impeccable and creative Farm to Table meals that alone make the stay worth your while. If you are looking for an elevated experience to rest your soul and lift your spirits, you need not look any further than this quaint and charming treasure.

We called ahead and picked up our order at 11 - Pepperdew cheese bread, breakfast sausage strudel, and two romaine salads with chicken. As we drove home, the food smelled so good that we couldn't resist starting before our arrival. The bread was incredible - pockets of cheesiness in each buttery, savory chunk. The sausage strudel was similarly scrumptous - a savory salvo of brunch fare's best. Finally, the romaine salads provided a healthy palette cleanser - tender chicken, pear, blueberry, walnut, and blue cheese crumbles with spiced pear vinaigrette... every mouthful came together perfectly. Saturday brunch takeout is well worth the drive, from the Southtowns or even the city. Enjoy! Menu at - https://www.facebook.com/RetreatInEden/

We even drove right past it the first time - when they say it used to be a church, they aren't kidding. Marienthal itself is three different pieces - the church is absolutely beautiful, and has been converted into a large reception hall. Behind the church is a beautiful little patio with a fireplace where we were able to have breakfast the next day. The parsonage next door was renovated into a number of guest rooms - the room we were originally in was the smallest of them, but had a beautiful attached bathroom, TV and was still plenty of room for two people. Lastly, there was a building (which I believed housed nuns originally), that has been converted into a bit of a retreat centre. There were a half-dozen or so double rooms with a full kitchen upstairs, and a large meeting area downstairs with another great kitchen, big screen TV with satellite, and lots of couches. We even had access to a great little jacuzzi in the back. This place is an absolute gem in the middle of nowhere. There's a little grill next door if you want to grab some food, but otherwise there is almost nothing in the immediate vicinity. You can drive about half an hour if you're looking for things to do, but if you really want to just get away in peace and quiet, where you know you won't be disturbed, this is absolutely the place to do it. Location and buildings aside, the hosts are really what makes this place special. Both of them go way out of their way to be accommodating. Louise's breakfast was very likely the best breakfast I've ever had in my life. Homemade apple turnovers, local sausages, and the fluffiest, cottage-cheese pancakes that still make my mouth water. And Vinnie is a very entertaining fellow to talk to - he has absolutely no shortage of hilarious stories to tell. The two of them were great to have as hosts. The next time we need a quiet getaway, there's zero doubt about where we'll end up.

Sheila has her famous chocolate chip cookies out in the dining area every day. Mark is an amazing chef; yes I mean amazing! His creations look like they should be in a magazine, and the bonus is they are DELICIOUS. We actually got married here and have stayed a few times other than that. It is a working farm; there are horses, ducks, chickens, goats, pigs, etc., and everything that comes with them... Mark uses fresh duck & chicken eggs in the dishes, and the pork products are from their own pigs. We had some delicious ham and sausages, and homemade sausage gravy with yorkshire pudding. MArk made fresh waffles with pecans ground up fine added to the flour. He made an apple syrup with fall spices that I could not get enough of. Whenever we go it feels like meeting old friends, including Herman the cat! Zonk the goat is cute but ornery... Mark & Sheila are the consummate hosts. This is the place to be if you are looking for a slice of small town Americana. The Belgian Mare, Eve, had a baby too! The 7 rooms are very nicely appointed. It is simply a very friendly place to relax and unwind. bring apples and carrots to feed the animals!!
