We went there on a Saturday night after the Fond du Lac brew fest. I had the jumbo shrimp with sautéed vegetables and garlic, mashed potatoes. For a bar and grill this food was amazing. Great service, good beer selection. Lots of seating, very modern clean bathrooms. Live music on Saturday night when we were there. This is my second time there and I'll definitely be back. read more

Cool fun atmosphere, great food, and friendly service! The Bloody Mary drinks were yummy and loaded with a great selection of fixings. I would recommend to give it a try. Mahi mahi fish tacos were buzzing with all the flavors-from the blackened fish, to fresh limes and jalapeños. I will get these again. Hubby got the only burger on the menu and it has a nice flavor char coating on it to give it a great taste on a super soft and fresh roll. Food quality is excellent, served hot and flavorful. Ambiance is good when it's busy. I think it was the Old warehouse for Wagner's and The Main Exchange. Large wooden floor central dining area and some booths along the walls. I love their fried, battered fish dishes on Fridays, with potato pancakes. Our first visit to Brick House. Our hostess immediately seated us at our table and within a short time our server arrived. We loved the industrial / warehouse atmosphere with the 12-foot high tin ceilings. The message on the menu encouraged us to take a self-guided tour of the building but we never left the dining area. There are booths around the perimeter and tables in the center of the dining room. Most of the tables were filled yet the noise level was very comfortable and we could easily hold a conversation. The Brick House menu is not extensive but I'm sure there's something to please everyone's palette. We prefer a smaller menu where entrees are prepared well. The appatizer of white cheddar bricks was okay but the ranch dipping sauce was tasty. There was a short but comfortable wait for our entrees. We ordered Grown Up Mac & Cheese and a serving of Poor Man's Lobster with a side of potato pancakes. Both entrees were plated well, served hot and delicious. Brick House. Beautiful space! Always enjoyed the Main Exchange in my hometown so had to check out the Brick House when back in FDL for a visit. Really well done interior, so much more light and open. Had great service by bartender Zach and waitress Cortney. The wait for food was a bit long. Food was tasty. I had the Veg Head-made into a wrap. It was good and homemade coleslaw as a side was excellent. Husband had a sirloin steak, truffle mashed potatoes and green beans. He really enjoyed it-above average. Other dining companion had steak Mac and cheese. Very filling. Good wine selection and reasonably priced. I would recommend and definitely go back! read more

Unexpected menu for a bar type establishment. And in a good way! Think bar classics with a refreshing twist including vegetarian options. It was difficult to know if this place was open from the street but once we entered, it was buzzing with chatter and happy patrons. We waited a few minutes to be seated and noticed many patrons walking about without masks without consequence. Something to be prepared for since we live in a city where masks are mandated. The service was fine. Waitress was friendly and efficient. We had a number of appetizer options which caught our eye and we decided on the fried cheese bricks. These are not cheese curds (re: no cheese pull here). But the cheese was light and airy and all around tasty. There are also several great beer options from breweries out of Oshkosh - many we had not tried before. For the main course, I went with the Roasted Beef & Goat Cheese Salad. I was immediately impressed with the presentation - it was served on a long dish and loaded with beets and cheese. This one knocked it out of the park. Simple, delicious, not too heavy & done right. My boyfriend ordered the Blackberry - Chipotle Chicken. He was apprehensive about the fruit combo but ended up loving this dish and even has plans to try to whip up his own version of the blackberry chipotle sauce during an upcoming bbq. The only less than stellar part of his meal was the veggies - these looked like they came out of microwaveable bag and the potatoes (way to salty). I regret not getting a piece of the brick layer cake. Certainly going to have to make a trip back just for a slice the next time we are in the area. read more

New restaurant in Fondy. This is our second time here. Both times, we have enjoyed our meals, service and overall experience. Yes, they have a few kinks to work out (waiter/waitress expediency, menu knowledge). Brickhouse will get there. Our first try was in a Friday night. When in WI what do you eat on Friday's,? Fish! I had their Perch plate, fantastic. Our group also ordered a number of appetizers, all were flavorful, no complaints. I apologize for not listing them....I didn't order, just ate! One additional bonus: Brickhouse has an upstairs bar and game room. Grab a dessert, head upstairs and play some hockey, skeeball, darts etc. Enjoy! read more

I was here tonight for the first time. Visually the place is gorgeous. It suffers from any place with high ceilings (super loud) but overall it's very aesthetically pleasing. The food. I had a Cubano which was excellent. Good flavor without being too salty. The portion was perfect for me (I like big portions) but might be too big for normal people. The potato flats were seasoned well. I also had a steak and potato soup which was delicious. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The service from the kitchen was a little slow but they were fairly busy and our server kept communicating with us on the progress so I never felt forgotten. Over all for my first time I am very pleased. I saw a number of things I'd like to try on the menu so I definitely will be back (and may updates this review if needed). After making a reservation and being told about our 1.5 hour wait for a table, we made our way upstairs. We found a large empty room with a few pool tables and arcade games. A great place, but nowhere to sit or even set our drink down. We ended up putting things on the floor to shoot some pool while waiting for our table. Shawn at the hostess desk made it sound like it could take MUCH longer than the 1.5 hours the girl said. It ended up being less than an hour. Which we were happy about. Our buzzer went off and we went downstairs. We were seated at a table in a large room with approx 30 tables/booths. I know we live in WI, and yes it's cold. But every time someone walked in or out a large gust of cold chilled the room. Everyone was talking about it. Some people yelled "close the door" when people held it open for others. It made our dining experience terrible. It was painfully cold in there and think if they can find a way to help that, I would return. The steak I ordered was "meh" overly seasoned, I drank 2 glazed of water along side the garlic mashed potatoes. I was chugging water all night. My husband loved the blueberry chipotle goat cheese chicken and a friend enjoyed his burger. Another friend was disappointed in the fish fry. I also found it to be a little louder than I like. First off, excellent job on the remodel. The style mixes the old and new well and is very refreshing for the FDL area. We came with a reservation and got there early to have a drink beforehand. Despite this, we waited to be seated 1.5 hours beyond our reservation time. When we got to our table we had about 4 different people waiting on us - this made for worse service. Drinks were missed, condiments were brought twice, etc. While everyone was friendly, it is too easy to confuse things that way. Menu is great, several things that I would try on the list. When the food came, the taste/quality/quantity was right .. but half of it was cold. It also took an hour to get the entrees. Time for the bill, pricing is fair .. but our bills were incorrect, more time waiting for corrections. One thing I didn't get was that a manager came around, and instead of maybe comping a drink or appetizer, she tried to upsell on purchasing a bottle of wine? A free dessert or acknowledgment of the situation can go a long way. I'm not saying I wouldn't come again, the food was good and the restaurant has potential. They just absolutely need to work out the service kinks before losing business. read more

Guys! Do yourselves a favor and get to the Brick House, stat! This place is great! Lovely ambiance, friendly staff, and most importantly - awesome food! We got the poke nachos as an appetizer, and they were really good. The nachos were crispy wantons, and for all you uncultured swine out there, poke (pronounced po-kay), is like a sushi salad, and it was real tasty. I got the fish fry and my wife got the ahi tuna. Both were very good. And the seasonal vegetables were very colorful and fresh (which certainly can't be said of every restaurant in town *cough Sebastian's cough*). Came to Brick House FINALLY, for the first time today. We ordered wings, Korean BBQ wraps, and Grown up Mac n Cheese. Everything tasted SO good and we finished it all (besides a few wings, which we brought home). Afterward, we took the kids upstairs to play games! In general, a totally enjoyable experience. Beautiful building. Waited 15 minutes until we asked where our server was and then a server came to our table to take drink orders. We had the cheese bricks, very good but the seasoning used, possibly chives, very overwhelming, but lots of cheese! I had the lettuce Korean BBQ wraps and they were okay, I was not fond of the BBQ, it is a little spicy and teriyaki like. Also had the Mac and cheese, which was great, we added steak which was well done, wish there was options on the steak temperatures. We also had a Bloody Mary, it was TERRIBLE. I have never had such a sour bitter and bland Bloody Mary. I hope this place figures it out because they have potential! Then we asked for menus so we would know what to order when we were actually seated and served, and while looking them over the hostess came by and told us it would still be awhile because she didn't want to overwhelm the waitress, then she added- "this isn't how a restaurant works. You can't just seat yourself and ask for menus". That was completely not our intention, there was just no where else to stand. So we left. She said goodbye on our way out. I've never been treated so rudely anywhere, except maybe fast food restaurants. Unfortunately this place was so slow I would have to say BK is better. I've been to this place many times before this experience and have never had a problem until now. Our waitress was extremely rude, upset when I asked a question about a menu item, and threw it in my face when I didn't like something how I ordered it. I didn't ask for anything different just didn't eat my food. My water sat empty for my whole visit. First visit to Brickhouse. Very nice renovation of the old Main Exchange. Seems like their bartenders need a bit more training. My Brandy Old Fashioned came with two whole cherries, an orange wedge, and a full sugar cube. Guess the concept of muddling was missed. I also noticed that some bartenders were pouring tall, even without people asking. The meal was a story of good and bad. My wife had garlic grilled shrimp. They were very flavorful and perfectly cooked. She also enjoyed the mashed potatoes. Saturday night's special was prime rib. While mine was a wonderfully cooked medium, it was very dry and lacking seasoning. The au jus was flavorless, and added little to the meal. The best part was the potato planks. They were a marvelously thin and crispy alternative to french fries. The mixed vegetables were a bit mushy and not very warm. Service was satisfactory, even with our server seemingly stretched a bit thin. We waited a bit after being seated, but it was ok since we had drinks from the bar. All in all, we will probably give the Brickhouse another chance. Noise is an issue, so if you are looking for a place to have a conversation, this may not be the place. read more

I'd rather this business work out their kinks than have yet another vacant building downtown. Please ignore those unfavorable reviews and try this place out. The remodel is beautiful, the staff was incredibly friendly, our wait time was reasonable and expected, and all of our food was absolutely delicious. I'd say Brick House is a great addition to the FDL area, especially since there aren't many phenomenal restaurants around here to begin with. Also, our waitress, Makita, was very sweet and funny. On the first visit to Brick House shortly after it's opening, we were told by the owner upon check-in that half of their staff called in sick. They were only seating people downstairs to eat, but we were told that we could check out the upstairs and sit at the bar. We were seated after waiting about a half hour. The food was good, but the service was slow. We decided that we would give the place another chance. Went last night for my husband's birthday. We were seated right away because they were not busy. Ordered a cheeseburger. How hard is it to make a cheeseburger? It was a drippy, greasy mess. The pretzel bun was mushy and soaked. I only ate half because I was hungry. The menu is pretty limited, and the food service is slow. I will not be returning. read more

During my first visit I had an excellent and knowledgeable server, Ryan. He was very pleasant and knew the menu and the food well. The place is gorgeous. It was a bit chilly/drafty but I came in during a slow time so I feel that if there were more patrons the temp would have been very comfortable. The food! YUM!!! Quick service and excellent food. I could only eat about half of my sandwich bc it was so big (and I wanted to leave room for dessert). The in house cole slaw was legit worth its own spot on the menu. Just saying. The remodel is awesome. Loved the atmosphere and our waitress was attentive and friendly. With that said, the drink menu and food are average. My friend was given the wrong salad and our waitress was told by the owner that she didn't want to eat the cost of a new one so my friend would have to order the correct one. Started out by the hostess saying it'll be a few minutes for a table when a quick scan of the dining room showed 4 to 5 tables empty. Extremely slow service from the kitchen. Once we were seated ordered an appetizer. Half hour later the app showed up. Another half hour to 45 minutes later our order finally showed up. My $12 burger that I waited an hour for was over cooked and marginal at best. Wife did enjoy her cuban sandwich. Waitress "Brey" was extremely nice and friendly, she tried to do all that she could.
