Today I opted for the 12" Italian sub toasted. This is the first time I've gotten a sandwich here. It was fast, 5-6 minutes from order to completion. The staff is always very friendly and efficient. Their pizzas are delicious and always prepared well also. The 12" Italian sub was tasty with plenty of meat, lettuce and tomato. It really hit the spot.

The antipasto has olives and peppers along with the usual suspects (people say it's more traditional) and the dressing doesn't have much vinager but it was great. The wings were a 7 (but like with pizza, we're kinda snobs) good hot sauce seemed homemade. Bottom line, absolutely terrific, really good food. We still put Loui's and Buddy's (Conant location ONLY) ahead but still outstanding. Oooh, almost forgot, didn't see this coming but it was a completely awesome bonus: complimentary breadsticks with (I assume) hot honey. Huge hit! The square pizza was excellent in every way, and the crust was especially well done. My grandfather enjoyed it as well he particularly loved the cheeseburger pizza. The Thousand Island sauce really sets it apart and offers a nice change of pace from traditional pizza. I was disappointed to find out I missed the Full Rack collaboration with the Alabama white sauce and brisket, but maybe it will come back one day. In 2024 and 2025, Johnny Z's brought it back, collaborating with Full Rack Barbecue instead. I've also tried the cheese bread and the boneless wings. I've had the cheese bread twice now, and it's about what you'd expect it to be. I will say, the first time I had it was better than the second. I recommend getting the garlic butter dip. As for the wings, they were just okay, but I'd be willing to give them another try. All things considered, Johnny Z's is a solid, local pizza place, and is better than your typical pizza chain.
