Avoid! One of the points holding up my bustle fell out before the ceremony even started. I emailed them with a picture of my dress and the alterations I wanted and got an estimate. I was an out of town bride and needed the alterations done on an expedited timeline over the course of week or so. They said no problem. When I showed up for the fitting they said the alterations would be a couple hundred dollars more than the quote (they said redoing the straps was more involved but it was exactly what I laid out when I sent through the photos). It was clear the person actually doing the fittings/alterations was not the person I had been emailing with and had no idea about the agreed to timeline and seemed alarmed. My friends who (thankfully) fixed my bustle and sew a lot of clothes said this was a hack job across the board and absolutely not worth what I paid. Look elsewhere. read more

Bridal Perfect Fit's head seamstress, Van, and her incredible team truly went above and beyond for my wedding dress. I brought in only the top half of my mom's wedding dress, which she wore over 25 years ago on her special day (shoulder pads and all!), with a dream of turning it into a full dress for my wedding. Van and her team handled the vintage and very delicate lace and beads with great care. They were meticulously precise with color matching, altering the top half, sewing on the bottom half, adding extra pearls to create a fade-out effect, and making a custom veil. Van even saved all the scraps from the top half because she understood the sentimental value. The before-and-after photo truly shows their incredible talent. Van is a magician! She is so talented and you can tell she is really passionate about her craft. I took her a wedding dress that was not only too big for me but was also backless with a plunging neckline, a combination which made it extremely hard to alter to my body type. I thought it would be impossible to alter the dress so that it wouldn't gape in the chest and was almost to the point where I wanted to get a new dress. But Van saved me. She basically reconstructed the entire top and got it to fit perfectly!! It took a few tries because of all the alterations it needed, but Van was extremely patient with me and never made me feel like I was asking too much. She altered my fitted wedding dress for a super reasonable price, gave me options instead of pushing back when I had concerns, and delivered quickly and professionally! Love her work. This is a hard review for me because I'm sure they are good tailors, however, my experience left me not wanting to go back. I am used to a small shop in Alamo Heights, where you schedule an appt and are the only person at your fitting. It's very personal and I have been going here for years. It's just a bit to far and I wanted to find a tailor that was more convenient. I walked in to Bridal Perfect at 10am, when they opened, and there were already 2 people doing fittings. I stood at the door way with my husband not ever really being acknowledged. A woman and her daughter who were trying on their dresses had lots of excitement so there was more interaction with them then the woman working. In her defense, the woman working seemed new and not very confident. That in its self made me want to leave but I told myself if they do pageant dresses I MUST be in good hands. The waiting area is small, with 2 chairs, a showcase with accessories, a platform and mirror and 2 small changing areas. Apparently there is a separate room and entrance for brides bc one walked in as I was standing there and she was told to go to the other door. The woman pinning did not offer to help me zip my dress or offer many words other than " you can go in there" pointing to the open changing room. I had to call my husband to assist me-which made me feel uncomfortable bc I was altering an expensive sequin dress and I did not think my husband would be gentle enough zipping the dress. After being zipped I walked out of the room and onto platform, in front of the mirror to discuss my alterations and another person was standing at the doorway as I had done. Again, no real acknowledgement for her, so I thought maybe this was how this business operated. As I was discussing what I wanted done the young girl pinning said she wished her boss was here bc she is better at pinning (@ that raised a red flag for me). We discussed a few things and I could tell the girl pinning was really not sure about what I wanted done so I offered to come back when her boss was there. She gratefully agreed and said she would call me when her boss got there. Here's my issue about the fitting: if I'm standing in a dress that does not fit properly, and I am feeling vulnerable, I don't really want another person standing there watching me. If I paid, what I consider, a good amount of money for this dress, I want to know the person I am working with knows what they are doing and is confident in their job. Who cares about basic customer service at this point, I want to work with a seasoned person. I changed and offered to leave my dress bc after talking with the young girl it seemed as if the boss would be in soon and I would be coming right back. She wrote my name and number on an order slip and attached it to the hanger/dress. However, several hours passed and I never received a call to say the boss was in, so I called several times and the boss was not there. I finally offered to make an appt with this person, but it was no easy task bc on Monday she goes to Austin and she leaves by 6pm the rest of the week. I would be coming from downtown in rush hour so it would be hard to be there by 6pm so, to make it easier, I offered to go on the next Saturday morning. I work in a small business any many times offer my customers to come in during my closed hours if it's more convenient to them; however that was never extended to me. It was not easy to schedule the appointment because the young girl had to talk to the boss bc she could not read her notes on the calendar, but could tell she had a fitting scheduled so she thought she would be in, but was not 100% sure. At that point I said forget it, I'll go pick up my dress. It seemed to me as if they did not want or need my business. Since the only time I had to go in, w/in their hours was Saturday I sent my mom to pick ip the dress. The dress was handed to my mom, no apology or options to alter the dress.I'm sure this is a very successful business; however the lack of professionalism left me not wanting to go back. I alter many pieces a year. Both my husband and I buy items ill fitting so we can have them altered to us. My friends and family get pieces altered regularly. I was really happy that I found a place that was a little more convenient, but I will go back to my other alterations shop. read more

Van is a dream to work with! She is seriously a magician when it comes to alterations. My dress was way too big, and she was able to size it down from a 24 to a 16 without changing the look or structure of the dress. I was worried about this because the corset of my dress had boning in the back, but she was so careful to keep the dress the same. I lost weight from my initial fitting to my final fitting, and she was able to take the dress in even more in just one week. I teared up when I tried the dress on for pickup because she had done such an incredible job fitting the dress to my body. She altered the height perfectly to my shoes, and added a beautiful bustle to my dress that held up well all night. She was also able to resize my flower girl's dress without the flower girl even needing to come to the shop! Plus she is the sweetest and her shop is gorgeous. I recommend going to see Van at Bridal Perfect Fit! She truly knows what she is doing, is very professional and can work "magic" on any dress. I originally bought a size 12 dress and unintentionally lost weight up until my wedding week. Vann was able to take my dress down to a size 6 which is almost impossible. She put a liner in up top on the bodice (not included in the pic attached yet) so it wouldn't be see thru anymore. She added more boning in the bodice for additional support, took out the push-up padded bra cups & replaced with thinner ones and closed in the plunging neckline that my dress originally had to be more modest and supportive for me. She also added additional lace to the area outside either strap to hide the line where my arm/armpit area folds into my chest. I hate the look of most bustles because I feel like it just looks like wads of fabric behind the bride, ultimately taking away from the dress' actual style. The only bustle I would even consider was very specific. I showed Vann pics beforehand of what I had in mind and she said she could do it. It's called a "no bustle" bustle or hidden bustle. The hidden bustle is hooked underneath to hide all the extra fabric gathers you'd otherwise see with the typical American and French bustles. She put the hooks between some of the layers under my dress so when hooked the petticoat layers wouldn't be up against my skin to itch/scratch me. She thought of everything, how it would look and actually thought about how comfortable the dress would be the day of my wedding. She hemmed everything perfectly to touch the floor but not enough for anyone to accidentally step on once bustled. From the moment I met her and had my first consultation I knew I could trust her 1000% to make my dress perfect. She's the best! I couldn't imagine having gone to anyone else now but her. I don't have enough good things to say about Bridal Perfect Fit. She saved my wedding dress in the nick of time. Before I met Van, I had taken my dress to a tailor at another store. I was concerned that the dress did not look like the original during my 2nd fitting, but my initial tailor assured me it would all come together. That was not the case. The back of the top rode too high and as a result, part of my back showed between the top and the skirt. I asked if she could put hook and eyes on the the skirt and top, and she refused, stating it was impossible because the skirt was too heavy. Other minor things added up, and she was rude to my bridesmaid. I took it to a second tailor who tried her best to undo the mistake and though it was better, the dress still didn't fit me well. 4 days before my wedding, Bridal Perfect Fit came to the rescue. As soon as I put my dress on, Van knew exactly what went wrong. She had my dress done in two days, and it was absolutely PERFECT. It looked just like original, it fit my body like a glove, and she added hook and eyes as an added support. More importantly, she was incredibly sweet to me and my bridesmaid. She patiently showed my bridesmaid how to zip the top/bustle the dress and her "can-do" attitude was the reassurance a bride needed. I am truly grateful for Van and her team. I was in the hunt to find the best person to perform alterations on my wedding dress and was recommended not only by friends but also by one of the best bridal boutiques in Austin, Blush Bridal (I live in San Antonio). As soon as I arrived Van made me feel so welcomed as I was already running late for my appointment and felt really bad. She is so so friendly and actually cares about making you look your best on your big day. After she just pinned my dress it looked sooo much better than before. I have not seen my final dress yet but I know it is going to fit like a glove and make me look stunning. The price is reasonable and what I was expecting to pay for someone to do a good job. My wedding dress was here for an entire month. When I showed up to my appointment to try it on Van acted like she had no idea who I was or why I was there. I don't think she had even started on my dress..... She offered to alter it the same day for a discounted price. I had no other choice because my wedding was in a week and a half - so I begrudgingly called and cancelled meetings with my own clients in order to hang around San Antonio for the day until she could finish my dress. When I arrived to try the dress on after alterations she acted like she was trying to shove me out the door. The dress looked (and still looks) like she rushed through it without much care. She kept apologizing to her other clients about running behind and seriously seemed to be trying to make me feel guilty for her mistake. Her rudeness to myself and my mother was downright unwarranted. I'm sure she's good at what she does but she is clearly over-booking herself to the point that she cannot produce the quality work that she is promising. Van is nothing short of a miracle worker. DO NOT COME HERE! If I could give zero stars I would. During my first visit, Van informed me that if you are a bride she will charge you more than if you are a bridesmaid. Her words, "I think brides have more money that the bridesmaids anyway!" I went in to pick up my dress and they forgot to take one of the pins off so a girl busted the zipper and insisted I pay for it because "it was fine before you got here!" I did not pick up my dress until two days before the wedding. Talk about a close call. I went in to pick up my dress and in front of everyone this lady says, "Oh you're here to pick up the dress that was too tight and zipper broke!" Day of the wedding, the dress was TOO big and I had to keep pulling it up to keep from falling. I couldn't even enjoy my time on the dance floor because of it.
