I see there are a lot of people who have reported good experiences with this company, but that was not my experience. On August 20th, I emailed Kelvin at Delta Boat Works: "I am trying to schedule a date to bring my 42 Carver up for some repairs. Can you let me know if you have availability the first week of October, the last week of November or during December." Kelvin the manager responded: "That should be no problem, let me know a date and I will lock it into my schedule. Kelvin" I called him and spoke with Kelvin and explained I wanted an estimate on repairs and sent him an email with the list. I explained I was going away for a week and to contact me about the estimate so I could approve the repairs, and shared when I got back I need the boat as I am a live aboard. I called back in November to confirm bringing my boat up in November. No response. I had to call several times and was told it was "no problem". I navigated my boat from Pittsburg and took the day off of work to have enough time to review work I wanted done. I called ahead and they said they would meet me at the dock. It was a two hour navigation and I made good time. I arrived at 11:30A.M. and spent an hour speaking with Rick and going through the boat with him. Two things I specifically asked Rick to do was to connect the boat to shore power, since I had food in the fridge and make sure the boat was secure to keep vermin off the boat. He said "no problems and that he'd never seen any rats or racoons there before." I left for my trip and never heard back from anyone at Delta Boat Works. I attempted to call them and no response. I had a friend call them and he said they told them they would email me. Kelvin's response was that they couldn't get any estimates done because it was the holidays, but Rick would have one to me by the end of the day of Monday or Tuesday. Rick never did send me an estimate. I returned on the following Friday. When I got to my boat, it was a mess and in poor condition due to the storms that had been going on. I found the boat's aft cabin door had been left open. There was rat scat all over the aft deck. The boat was plugged in, but Rick never took the time to switch the boat over to shore power, so the food in the fridge had all gone bad. I emailed Kelvin and requested that Delta Boat Works compensate for the lost food and clean up the rat poop. I asked again for the estimate. I received no response from Kelvin, but a call back from Rick. He claimed that the crew told him that I had said the electricity was on in the boat when I left. It was a lie, because he was the last one I saw when I left. So, he took no responsibility. He also took no responsibility for the open door or the rats. I trapped and killed three of them on the boat before I got it out of there. I tried to salvage the appointment, but Rick brought up that the owner didn't want to work on a boat with someone who was a live aboard, at which point I said, "Forget it". I had explained the circumstances before I brought the boat up and was experiencing nothing but lame excuses and obviously no interest to work on my boat. So, I lost time and about $500 in fuel, food and traps. I would not recommend this place to anyone with a boat who values their investment. You may have a good experience, but you may not and who needs to waste time on a company that can't follow through? The good news is I am so glad they didn't start any work on my boat.

Plan B - find a boat yard to do a bottom job and several other projects on my 50 year old Coronado 27. While most kept saying that "yes they could do the work", none would or could come up with a date. Found Delta Boat Works by accident and stopped by to check them out. Not only were they very helpful, they were able to immediately give me a haul out date, only three weeks away. Just got the boat back today and was very happy with the results, everything was done as expected and at a reasonable rate. Rick and Jessica were very helpful, and followed up with progress reports and photos as the project progressed. Would I recommend them??? Definitly yes.

At the end of last season (2023), and our last day of boating, we met this couple doing a gel coat…read morerepair at Bethel Harbor; Dennis Russo is the gentleman's name. The couple was very nice and Dennis was very helpful as we asked questions about their business. We told them about a stain in our gel coat in a small section at the waterline, and asked if they would take a look at it and let us know what they think. Since we were putting away the boat for the winter, we would not be returning to Bethel Harbor until this season, 2024. A few days after we met them, I received a call from them letting me know that they had finished the work and were able to successfully remove the stain with a cleaning solution, no gel coat application needed! Today, my husband sent me a picture of the area they worked on and you can't tell it was ever stained! I wish we had taken a "before" picture so we could share the "before and after" photos. We are very happy with the outcome and so excited to have met Dennis and his helper!!! Thank you so much! We are going to share your information with our ski club, Bay Area Water Ski Club (BAWSC)! I called Hector on Tuesday morning after the holiday and he met me at the marina after I got off work to give me an estimate to replace the pulpit platform. The insurance of the guy who hit me paid for the repairs. Hector took my boat in and started the repairs and sent me several in progress pictures of how it was going which I really appreciated. He really takes pride in his work and is fair and honest and did such a great job on the new pulpit and re installing my windless anchor winch it looks Awesome ! I can honestly recommend Hector to anyone he is a man of his word. He trusted me and did everything with no money up front until he was all done and I appreciate that. He is very flexible and did a few little extra things for me that I wanted like making my pulpit 6 inches longer than the original and ran a couple of extra wires for me so I can add some new lights I have been wanting to add. Melgoza's does fantastic major fiberglass repairs on beautiful older boats. We discovered an…read moreunknown caulking compromise, but...not to fear. The Melgoza's were really responsive. They were also patient in explaining the potentials to me, the wife without any experience of boat repairs. They explained the pros and cons of various repair options and updated us regularly as progress proceeded. We felt we were treated honestly, fairly, and with compassion as the information of the extent of compromise was a surprise to us. Yes, once we got into the job, there were surprises as to the extent of travel of moisture. However, Melgoza's kept us very informed of any new discoveries once the core could be fully examined from inside the fiberglass. They treated me very well even though my husband understood the shop terminology quicker than I did. (I have been dismissed or bullied as a woman at other repair shops). Not at Melgoza's, they let me ask many clarifying questions to ensure I was understanding. I never was made to feel stupid being out of my area of expertise. More like they would have explained things to one of their respected female family members. Upon repairing a large section of marine core, the fiberglass blended really, fantastic. So Melgoza's blends their fiberglass colors well. So, when an apparent small caulking failure turned out to have been a major core wood replacement and fiberglass repair, Melgoza's was up for the size of the job it turned into. Our beauty is back to gorgeous. We did not have a bottomless checkbook and Melgoza's kept that in mind too. We had just had a marine survey and we're looking at various items that arose from inspection. Melgoza's reviewed all the body and structure items, helping us to focus on only the major issues to avoid additional water damage. We still have our gradual, "wish list," of further work to keep our 1989 looking pristine for decades to come. Melgoza's explained the processes for items we can take care of ourselves. Melgoza's worked with our budget to review a very detailed survey. They let us know what repairs were critical today, what items we can save up for to keep our classic as pristine, and which items were simple enough to complete on our own. I'm so pissed right now!! I just pulled my outdrive off because the last couple of times I had the…read moreboat on the water I noticed a growling type noise and vibration coming from the transom area. I thought maybe my ujoints might to be replaced since that's the only thing that wasn't replaced when CCBW had last serviced it. Instead..I find the gimbal bearing had disintegrated and that the ujoints were a little rusty but not in a compromised condition. Keep in mind that CCBW had supposedly replaced the gimbal bearing, all bellows, seals, etc. less than a year ago and the boat had only been in the water 6 times since (about 30hrs). You be the judge!! I have more to add to my experience w them from when I had initially brought my boat to them for the service but I ain't got time for that right now. I'm calling them up first thing in the morning and best believe the BBB will be hearing from me again also, if I don't get a positive outcome. What a way to start the summer!!

So I called Chad earlier this week to do a seawater impeller service on my Mercruiser alpha one gen…read moreone. He told me that appointments weren't available till late June. He had done it last May but it had already failed as boat wasn't cycling water and was overheating. So instead I asked if he had the parts so I could do it myself. He confirmed that he did. So I drove to his shop and it took over an hour to get anyone to acknowledge me. Finally he looked up my order from last year to give me the correct parts but he didn't write down part numbers, so we had to guess based on my knowledge, $59 for gaskets and impeller. And wait need case oil to recharge, after another $45. ( He would have let me leave without it.) So glad I had to do the work my self. Last year he told me that he had to charge me an extra $200 to cut of my impeller cause it was ceased to shaft. Well upon my own discovery I was going to have to do the same thing. The ding dong that worked on it last year did not do a good job cleaning off excess material from shaft and forced it on. So here I am cutting off my impeller. Then using a sharp file cleaning up shaft. The pump housing was old and destroyed from the impeller melting down. Uh oh, the kit Chad sold did not include a pump housing. Well I'm not driving back to his shop again when I can do a little research and buy it from someone else. Called West marine and with a little coaching we were able to locate just the part I needed and a whole rebuild kit that had everything. $45 for just the housing or $65 for the whole kit. I bought the kit. So after a couple of part run trips and some patience I R and R'd my sterndrive and was back up and running. Chad your shop is a pig sty. Your stuck in the 60's as far as how you run a business and your work is minimal at best. Thank you for being to busy, so that I could see how easy it is to do this common maintenance for a boat. So my conclusion is that after $600.00 bucks spent last year they did not supply professional service. They re-used the old parts that are included in the kit.
