Fair warning, I used to work with/ for the owner but this is still an honest review. Staying at the Inn and thought we'd get dinner. John in the past raved about the salmon, so I recommended it to my partner. I noticed the halibut special on the white board and ordered it blackened with a salad and the couscous quinoa. Both filets were generous, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. In chatting with John he said he orders the blackened halibut whenever it's available. Bridgeport is a great convenient stop between Las Vegas and Sacramento. Great for sports fishing, hiking and all sorts of outdoor fun. Breakfast: I want to start by saying our server was VERY nice and polite, this review does not reflect her. The prices for breakfast were insane, I'm talking $9.25 for a SIDE of bacon, etc. My party got one traditional breakfast (2 eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, toast) and a side of sausage, no drinks besides water, our total was $32. The sausage was warm-ish. The hostess was not very friendly, didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all. I would definitely go elsewhere. read more

It is rumored that Mark Twain stated there at one time and the place is haunted by the White Lady. Well we didn't feel no ghostly spirits at dinner but our bellies sure got full on some really good food. My prime rib was primo. It melted in my mouth. It was cooked to my liking. Mark got the blackened salmon and he said it was prepared well. We had a great conversation with folks next to us who were believe it or not ghost hunters. They had great stories to tell which made our dinner experience even better. The inside of the inn is decorated with photos of things of the past. The inn itself looks amazing and honestly I would have loved to look around upstairs. Maybe even see a ghost or two. If you're into ghosts, history, good food this place has it all. read more

Hire more informed and clean help. They need a lesson in ADA law and service animals. Do NOT patronize this establishment. They are not making America great again, including so called, yet ignorant manager in the back. Didn't see any food, but I'm glad we didn't stay. I did go back to give them a lesson, but they gave no shits. Went to the Barn across the street, the busiest and happiest place in Bridgeport. I rate this place a Zero. read more

Service was quick and breakfast food was delicious. Not many options in Bridgeport so we were happy that they excelled.

The service was excellent, the food was some of the better Bridgeport food available and was a better value and better quality than some of the other local options with comparable pricing. Bridgeport Inn used to be one of the pricier options in the town, but their burgers were similarly priced. They also offer some higher end options. The setting was quiet. Definitely will plan to go more often than we have in the past. read more

The food here is substandard. Flavorless pork chops covered with barely cooked onions, mashed potatoes cold with a nondescript gravy. Don't even consider the fried chicken. It came out cold in the center, they took it back to " refry " it. The dish came back as chicken jerky. The only plus was a decent martini. Trust the bar , not the horrible kitchen. Limited menu, ridiculous prices and the food was not that great and coffee was old and tasted burnt. Plus they had no bathroom available. I had chicken fried steak and eggs. It had several chunks of hard gristle. I had to spit out several pieces. The eggs were scrambled and ok. The hash browns tasted gross. And again the coffee was old and bitter. My husband wasn't happy with his food either. For 2 breakfasts and coffee was 56.00. The service was terrible. She had no welcome manners, never smiled and it was like she didn't want to be there. She took our order and delivered the food. That was all we saw of her and there was nobody else in the small dining area. Needless to say I will never go there again. read more

We stopped here for an early breakfast. The Inn has an old Americana feel as they clearly try to maintain the history of the place. I enjoyed seeing the photographs throughout. We were offered a table in the dining room or the bar. We took the bar as we had a table by the window looking out to the main street. The menu is great, as was the food and service. It's clear that this place is supported by, and supportive of, the local community. It was refreshing to eat in a non-corporate, historical place. I would definitely recommend it. read more

My wife and I recently spent a couple of nights at the Bridgeport Inn. The hotel is well managed, clean and safe. The restaurant and bar are both outstanding, especially the staff members that we interacted with the most. Jodi and Rose both provide professional service and always with a very personable touch. Additionally, the food preparation was outstanding and always top-notch quality. Will was the bartender and he also was very knowledgeable and interested in his work. 4 stars only because it is ridiculously expensive (talking SF prices) for a small mountain town - BUT the food is delish!! (Burger juicy, fries excellent, and lemon chicken tender!) This little (historic) Inn with attached restaurant/bar alongside indoor and outdoor seating offers beautiful Mountain View's and a dog friendly environment. If sitting outside during the summer months - bring your bug stray (you'll thank me later..) and of course - a healthy appetite. Stopped at the Bridgeport Inn Restaurant late in the afternoon and was welcomed in with lunch still being served. It's an old school restaurant with all the classic dishes on the menu, but they are delicious. We got a table by the window where we could watch the passerby's on Main Street and settled-in. We started with wings and after a few moments of indecision, the waitress agreed to bring them with two sauces on the side - forever more, that is my way of ordering wings. Alone the wings were crispy and succulent...and then I got to choose my level of saucing - yum. Sandwich and a salad was a full plate of food, but save room for the pie. We opted to share apple, no a la mode and the pie was full of apple and cinnamon flavor without the sticky sweetness you often find. Only great things to say about the food, staff and whole Bridgeport Inn Restaurant experience! The bar next door looked very inviting, so if spending the night, I would check-it out. One downside, you have to climb a flight of stairs to access the single available restroom. read more

Our family has a tradition of camping at a cabin up at nearby Green Creek, and we have two sub traditions relative to Bridgeport: When we arrive, we get dinner at The Burger Barn and on our way out we have breakfast at The Bridgeport Inn. The overall atmosphere and ambience of this place is extremely charming, a sort of melange of modernity mixed with 19th century Victorian/Gold Rush vibes. While the dining room is fairly small, it manages to maintain a healthy crowd without feeling super impacted. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't order a burger at breakfast, but I'm weird like that. What is a little off putting are the prices here: $18 for two eggs, hash browns, toast and a couple pieces of bacon. All the same, Bridgeport isn't exactly a huge commercial hub, and the inflated prices are reflected everywhere from the gas pumps ($7 a gallon or close to) to the little butcher shop across the street (80/20 ground beef at $8 per pound). Should you need to use the restroom here, you'll get the pleasure of using their pre ADA, pre OSHA genuine 19th century staircase which looks and feels as though it might require rock climbing equipment to reach the summit. Going down can cause a few butterflies if you're a cozening acrophobe like Yours Truly. Though expensive, I'm still very enchanted by this place. If it's a greasy spoon kind of place, you'd better believe that spoon is real silver. TL;DR Version: Beautiful mixture of modern & Gold Rush interior. Cozy, inviting atmosphere. Prices are high but very much in line with this remote micro economy. Our family loves it. Yours could too. read more

First off... the prices are high because you're in the middle of nowhere and there are 2 places in town to eat dinner. Period. That's all that was open this weekend. It's expensive to get food delivered up there. They don't economy of scale like your big city. We had breakfast here one day and dinner another. My omelet was great, our burgers were both good. My girl orders eggs a very particular way that most places ask what she means. Chef nailed it with no questions. I don't grade things against the best gourmet food in the world. The food both breakfast and lunch was very tasty and the ingredients were very fresh. Quantities were very fair and adequate. The service was also very attentive, expedient and helpful. The ambiance was great. It's downtown Bridgeport with that old town flair. It can't get any better than that! My biggest concern was the prices, but take into consideration everything has to be trucked in. It's still a great place to dine. read more

Hospitality was wonderful here. I was on a trip with 6 girls and we were seated immediately. The size of the breakfast burrito I ordered exceeded expectations. Friendly and even keeled natural chatter from our waitress throughout the meal and we left with maps of surrounding landmarks and tourist spots including hiking trails... All courtesy of the inn. Comfortable rooms, reasonable prices, in house restaurant is very good and the prices are good! The hotel was built in the 1870's and reputed to be haunted by the "lady in white"! On the way to Bishop, CA we stopped off at Bridgeport Inn Restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is situated inside the Bridgeport Inn. The Inn itself looks like something out of turn of the century, that has a full bar on the other side of the restaurant. The restaurant is a small cozy little restaurant. I ordered a BLT and strawberry lemonade, my son got the tuna sandwich, and my wife had the open face prime rib sandwich. The best part of the meal was a home style carrot cake which was delicious. Stopped in early evening for dinner. They are spacing tables inside for distancing so there is limited indoor seating. Seated with a smile and our server took our order promptly. We had the fried green bean appetizer which came quickly and was good to munch on while the entrees were prepared. We both ordered the golden fried chicken. The serving size is 4 pieces perfectly prepared, tasty and crispy. More than we could eat. Extra kudos for the mashed potatoes that were real potato's that appeared prepared to order.
