Nice staff. Well stocked, for its size and location. It's my go-to location for last minute groceries.

It was actually nice that it was the first and closest thing to me when I walked in the doors. The cold section, where they dish you up the amount of food you want, was a little smaller than most delis but they had all the key, typical food that you would be looking for anyway In fact they had two chicken salads that you don't typically see in deli's and they were both delicious. The cranberry and pecan chicken salad, as well as another one that I now can't remember. Both employees were away from the counter working but we're paying close attention to see if customers approached the counter which is really nice since often times at delis they have a tendency to kind of ignore you until you can somehow get their attention or they decide they're done with their current task So one of the employees came right over. I needed to know if the two salads had any gluten in them and he did not know since he said he doesn't typically work at the counter but he offered to go and find out, which he quickly did and was able to actually print out the ingredients so I could also see for myself and not have any doubts. He was so extremely and genuinely friendly, and happy to help. Such a nice change from most customer service these days. I complimented him on his service and told him I recommend he actually work at the counter because he was so good with customers. The other nice thing was that he was quick and everything that he did rather than just taking his time like many deli people do. Which I appreciated since I was so so so hungry I wish I would have gotten his name so he could get credit for his customer service and attitude and efficiency and effectiveness. He was very tall, white, thin...oh and he had a tattoo under his left eye of two arrows. That should help someone know who he is and hopefully give him kudos. So I was able to quickly use the self check out and be on my way. The deli area was also very clean and organized. So I would absolutely return just for the deli itself

The prices are insanely high, they are even higher than PCC for many items. The people that work there are a mix, some are super friendly and nice, but there are a couple weirdos that work there that make me turn around if I walk in and see it's only them working at the registers. Their names are Jimmie and Sam. Sam sells chocolate bars he makes at the store, or the store sells them? Any way, I don't eat chocolate bars or dairy and they are made with milk chocolate. And they are $7. I think it's great to support people, but I won't eat the chocolate bars and the store is already too expensive, so I'm not going to buy it and there is SO MUCH PRESSURE TO BUY THE CHOCOLATE. And Sam has a major attitude because I don't want to buy the stupid chocolate bars. Very passive aggressive. With rising costs everywhere the last thing I want is to be pressured to buy something I don't want at a grocery store when I'm just struggling to survive. And Jimmie is just a major weirdo. There are also a few older ladies that always have an attitude for no apparent. I'm a very friendly and polite person, but I'm also the customer so I shouldn't be the one greeting them and telling them to have a nice day while they basically tell me to f*** off. It's very much a small town vibe and I feel like an outsider the shouldn't be there. I am very grateful for Grocery Outlet opening near by so I mostly go there for last minute items and I avoid Thriftway at all costs because I don't want to be pressured into buying the stupid gross chocolate or deal with weirdos with attitude.

This store has several issues it seems not to be able to fix; inventory management is one obvious…read moreone. In one example, too often there are largely empty shelves in the yogurt aisle. In some cases, it may be featured ad items which you'd think they'd be prepared for. But when ads break on Wednesdays, why are those items not even on shelves yet? Then again, a day or two after the ad breaks, featured products are already gone and those shelves are empty, if they were ever stocked in the first place. Another challenge seems to be personnel related, which again reflects on management. This afternoon there was only one checker working at a time when people are just getting off work. She had people with several full carts backed up and there was also a line at the "self check out." It seems to put both the employee and customer in a negative situation. On top of that, it looks like there's a fair amount of staff turnover? There's a newer Safeway up in Bothell that is a newer, cleaner store and better organized. I hope that this Kenmore store can improve. If the Bothell store wasn't 3 times further away, I'd probably shop there more...or just go to the Freddy's store at Totem Lake.

I've put off reviewing the store for several years because it's my neighborhood Safeway and I want…read moreit to be successful. So this is overdue. First, make sure to be on the lookout for rotten food, especially produce. On a pick up order. I once got a bag of spinach with green liquid in the bottom that was two weeks expired. More recently I accidentally bought a bag of lemons, most of which were so rotten that my finger poked through one when I reached in the bag. I've also seen packaged goods on the shelf well past their expiration dates. You'll want to check your receipt carefully, as well. I've never been one to do that, but have had to learn to with this store. On my most recent trip, I bought 14 items and was overcharged a total of $8.50 on four of them. First they ask if you clipped all the coupons, as though their mistakes must be the customers' fault. Adding insult to injury, you have to return to the store to get back the money they've effectively stolen. Since this happens so often, you have to wonder if they're really mistakes, or just part of the business plan...because they're just not making enough profit on the already obscenely expensive prices? Finally, last Thanksgiving, I visited the meat department to buy turkey parts rather than a whole bird. When I could find none, I asked a very nice meat department employee who said she was told "if we do it for one person then we have to do it for everyone." ??? I called back later and was told it was just a misunderstanding with a new employee. But again, I had to go back to the store a second time, time, frustration, and gas on me. In general, the customer staff are great and I feel sorry for them having to deal with so many screw ups they likely didn't create. However, when I asked how there could be such old spinach on the shelves and how it made its way into in my order, the answer I got was, "Just laziness to be honest," So maybe I'm being generous. Anyway, shop here at your own peril, check the produce and expiration dates carefully, and review your receipt before going home to save yourself a second trip. Even though it's a hassle, I now go to a different store whenever possible
