He could not have been more responsive or accommodating to make sure we got what we were hoping for - and one week out from project completion, we really are happy with the final results. The overall process was not as smooth as we expected from System Pavers given its name and pricing tier. There were several miscommunications and/or mistakes that we had to catch and bring up ourselves (sometimes repeatedly), which was disappointing and stressful. However, at the end of the day, everything did get addressed to our satisfaction and for that, we're thankful for the team we had. read more

I have been wanting to redo my small backyard for a while now and reached out to System Pavers for a quote. I was able to schedule a free consultation on their website the next week and had Dan come by. I am a pretty indecisive person but Dan did an amazing job taking my vision and helping it come to life. The estimate was done the same day, I felt some pressure to sign the deal that day but negotiated what I thought was fair. I was originally told a time frame 1-2 weeks earlier than what happened, which is one of the reasons why this is losing a star. Eric, the construction manager, came by with Dan a few weeks later to do an initial construction walk through and he also suggested adding another level/ stairs and helped me figure out a drain situation. I appreciated the feedback and ideas. Overall, both Dan and Eric went the extra mile and were responsive when I reached out. The week of construction, communication on when they were coming, progress, etc could have been better from the Crew itself but it is a sub-contractor.. (which is the other reason for one less star). The team worked hard in 80+ degree heat 5 days in a row, were very polite to me and the job was done quickly. Eric did a final walkthrough with me and I pointed out a couple minor flaws and they were quickly repaired the following week to my satisfaction. Overall, I recommend this company as they back up their product and have a good warranty. From start to finish the process was streamlined, sales communication was okay, but I was very impressed with the project manager Joel and his communication efforts throughout. The actual sub-contractors that did the hard labor I was most impressed with. Perhaps they had a deadline or wanted to finish sooner than later but through wind, rain, hail, they did my project in basically 3 days. The very last part was the seating wall and it took longer due to custom stones but the bulk was finished sooner than projected. Only time will tell, but they insist the 25 year warranty will absolutely be honored if there's any dissatisfaction. I can only guess such a warranty is given when they are confident of their builds. All in all I'd say they are considered slightly higher end, but you get what you pay for when it comes to hardscape. It's not laying of stones, it's the foundation underneath that is the most work. read more

A project that was presented as a 5-6 day install ended up taking about six weeks due to delays and mistakes along the way. Communication and coordination were inconsistent, and we often had to spend time following up or managing issues ourselves. We hired System Pavers to install a paver patio for us a number of years ago. Originally we planned to do the work ourselves, but ultimately decided it would be better to hire professionals. Despite a high cost and assurances about drainage, it quickly became clear that the patio was not properly engineered to drain at all. The patio is a pond for most of the rainy season, and at times it fills up enough to reach the foundation of my house. I've contacted System Pavers numerous times about this issue with photos, they have agreed that it obviously doesn't drain properly, but they never follow through and solve the problem. Also, they obviously contracted the work out to another company (which was never communicated to us). We paid a lot for this patio, hoping to add value to our home, and instead it has caused nothing but headaches, and I worry that it will be an issue if/when we decide to sell. read more

Every afternoon when I sit down to enjoy the sun, I get sad and disappointed re my very expensive patio and short retaining wall job. I'm embarrassed to tell friends how much I paid when it's so bad in places. They won't fix it. Refuse. Intimidate. So every night in summer when I sit and look at my yard I get to look at this. We hired a designer, got an architectural blueprint of the proposed project, and then . . . we waited . . . and waited . . . and waited to find a contractor to actually do the job. That is - until a friend recommend System Pavers. Within a couple of hours of emailing Kerry - we were setting a date to meet and go over our job needs. What seemed like a fairly straightforward redesign of our rowhouse backyard, quickly morphed into a complex array of alternative project options. System Pavers - Kerry and Jeremy - helped throughout the whole process, even going the extra effort to refer us to a deck contractor. They were always on time, problem solved throughout the work, and communicated in a clear and non-jargon manner. It was the perfect backyard remodel. In the end, we got a fantastic redesign of our backyard. I'd give negative stars if I could. This company is unethical with awful customer service. They way overprice and when you need them to work with you, all the promises upfront are quickly forgotten. We were excited to sign up for a project and two months later had a huge financial hit out of our control. Called our sales guy and he told us we'd get our deposit refunded, no problem, just call him when we were ready do the work. Said we could be refunded if we were within a year of signing. We were put off for months (had to wait until "bonuses were paid out", had to wait because the "season was picking" up, etc.)....got close to the year timeframe, finally got him to take action. He even sent us a link and said we'd be refunded everything except a 3% processing fee. Suddenly a manager (Ben) got involved and said no refund. We asked again and told him that we'd been assured all this time that we would be refunded by the salesman. He said "We stand behind our contract"....we asked if he stands behind his salespeople, because his salesman had been leading us on for a year. No response. That was 2 weeks ago. I'd understand if it was us simply backing out and crossing our fingers. But we have been told over and over that we could be refunded, no problem. Unethical and short sighted because when we are ready, we definitely won't use System Pavers. read more

Wow, I am impressed with the way the pavers turned out and we are loving the final outcome. Why only four stars, I'll get to that in a bit. We had found System Pavers at one of those Home and Garden shows in Portland last year along with a few others. I wanted to get a few different quotes, not go with only one. Out of four different inquiries, only two contacted us, we were quoted from a local landscaper as well. System Pavers contacted us right away and we scheduled a time to meet with JP. JP was great to work with, we showed him the area that we wanted done, plus the other areas we want done in the future, so we needed something that will flow once all was completed. My husband and I kept going back and forth on our ideas of what we wanted, JP listened and drew something up. With a little tweaking back and forth we decided on what we wanted and couldn't wait to have it done. We decided to divide the work in three different phases. We chose System Pavers for two reasons. They presented the design on CAD software giving us a visually appealing rendering of the project. Secondly System Pavers offered a 25-year warranty. So, the first phase was done in the Spring, I believe April. The Project Manager and crew we had on this one was a bit disappointing and lacked good communication. The PM we had was friendly and always nice and would make things right when things were messed up. There were some mistakes along the way and after that needed to be corrected and the PM did take care of them. There were too many headaches, lack of communication, and excuses it was such a relief when all was done. JP did help us out when we got frustrated in a timely manner. Even though the first phase was a headache we decided to go ahead and give them one more try and decided to have phase two done. System Pavers did put a different Project Manager on this phase and this time our experience was much better. Our PM was Jeremy and he was awesome to work with. He was here every day and listened to us on our concerns and would make changes if needed to. He was busy but if I ever needed to call him, he would either answer or get back with me shortly after I made the call. Jeremy's crew also spoke Spanish but the lead and one other spoke English so that made things a little nicer. The lead on the crew was here a lot so if I noticed anything, I could talk to him, so the communication was so much better. There was a little miscommunication between the PM and the lead and luckily, I caught the issue right away and addressed it. The lead and PM spoke, and they made the change that day with no issues. They worked hard rain or shine and cleaned up after themselves every day. Our experience this time around was great. We recently had System Pavers do a complete overhaul of our backyard patio area. To start, I contacted several companies to get quotes for the work we were looking to have done. I was immediately impressed by how quick System Pavers responded to our request. They were able to schedule a consultation and design visit for the next day, which was a Saturday. My husband and I both work full time during the weekdays and we really appreciated the weekend design consultation. Dan was our design expert. It was readily apparent that Dan has extensive knowledge and experience in backyard renovations. During the visit we we had plenty of time to ask questions, express concerns and explore alternatives and options that aligned with our desired budget and goals. Ultimately Dan helped us create a vision for our backyard above and beyond what we could've hoped for. My only real qualm with the design consultation was payment options. My husband and I felt the "financing option" (which is really just a credit card application) was a bit misleading / not fully transparent. We were very caught off guard by the new credit card received in the mail a few days later. Thankfully it was no issue to cancel it and use our own funds for the project. There were a few other missed details, like losing yard measurements or failing to appropriately process an amended contract, but these things happen and both were quickly resolved. There was never a concern about being able to reach Dan. We were beyond thrilled to have our project start ahead of schedule. We were connected with Michael, our project manager. He was just as communicative and knowledgeable. He kept us updated throughout every step of the project and provided expert advice/counsel along the way. The contractors were extremely diligent and hardworking; they completed the project in record time. At the conclusion of the project, Michael did a final walkthrough with us. He was very thorough and provided us with detailed instructions to maintain our new patio and fire pit area. Overall, the System Pavers team was incredible to work with. Their online portal is great for keeping track of the project process, making payments and more. We loved how easy it was to get a hold of our project team, as well. Grading issues on my patio pavers are causing large portions of my patio to pool, and In some areas it's actually graded back towards the foundation of my home. I contacted System Pavers and gave them multiple chances to correct the problem. Managers, Josh and Sam came to my home and promised to rectify the issues, even offered to extend onto my existing patio for my troubles, after doing the small addition I came outside to look at the addition and was told by System Pavers manager Sam, that he and Josh made the decision not to fix the original problem of standing water on my patio. We used to have a swampy mud pit of a backyard during the wet season, but thanks to System Pavers we now have a beautiful area for future gatherings and outdoor fun. We originally were just wanting to get a price quote to see what we were looking at for the area we wanted done. We had picked up some fliers from one of the home and garden expos we had visited last year, one of them was for System Pavers so we gave them a call to schedule a walkthrough. We were expecting them to be booked a little ways out but to our surprise they were able to get as scheduled for only a few days later. When JP showed up to talk with us and learn what we were looking for he was right on time and very friendly. We chatted about what we were looking for, he showed us a variety of samples that he had in the back of his truck that gave us a great idea of the different types and styles of pavers we could choose from, all varying in size, color, and style. After we took a look at the samples we ventured to our backyard where the project would be completed, right away JP was listening to what we were wanting and also giving us some ideas that were popping into his head while he was looking at the area and taking measurements. After some calculations he was able to give us an estimate right there with the pavers that were our "dream". This price, of course, was out of our price range but we had also selected the most expensive pavers to choose from. So with some slight changes to the paver style we came up with a plan that was within our budget and more than what we were looking for. JP was very nice about our decision to wait and think about the project, he wasn't aggressive in any way and didn't try to push the sale at all. The following day we received an overview in an email from JP going over what we had talked about, he also included another idea with rough drawing of something he had came up with after leaving our house. He included all the pricing we needed and everything to make a decision. We invited JP back out to go over the new plan that he came up with so that we were all on the same page. To his surprise we decided right then that we wanted to move forward with the project and go with System Pavers, JP went ahead and wrote up everything that was needed for us and for the team to start and got us on the schedule for 2 weeks out. The following week Dustin, our project manager, came out to lay out the area that would be worked on for his crew and get some final measurements. Again, just like JP, he was very friendly and on time. Once he was done marking the area he informed us that he had a team that would be able to start later that week, ahead of schedule. He gave us a time line of 1 week but said that it was possible it could take less time, of course this was alright with us. We gave him the OK to get started and looked forward to the transformation. Within a couple days Dustin stopped by with his team, because it wasn't a very large project it was only a couple guys. I was able to meet with the team before they were finished getting the overview of what was to happen, and to no surprise they were very friendly as well. The next morning the crew came by to get started, they made quick work of getting the area dug to the depth they needed and began laying the materials needed to have a good base for our pavers. They were able to get the area all prepped and ready for the pavers that were to show up the following day. When the crew finished day 1 they left our driveway and backyard where they had been working very clean and tidy. The following day they came back and did some finishing touches before the truck delivering the pavers showed up. Once the pavers arrived they got right to work laying them and moving on to the next phase. With the remaining time in the day they were able to get almost all of the project finished which included a lot of cutting. Again, when the team left, the area was cleaned up nicely and not left in disarray. The next work day was a few days later due to the weekend but first thing Monday morning the team was back to work on finishing up. Half way through the day they were able to finish! 2.5-3 days total!! We were so impressed with how quickly and beautifully they were able to complete it. It was exactly what we had envisioned with JP. Throughout the process Dustin stayed in contact with us, sending pictures of the progress and keeping us up to speed on what was happening. We scheduled our final walkthrough with Dustin a few days after completion to go over the area and make sure it was what we were had planned and that everything was up to our standards. We couldn't be any happier with the project, the work crew that completed the area, Dustin, JP, and everyone else at System Pavers. Thank you all so very much! We contacted System Pavers and were able to get a quote quite quickly and despite the sticker shock, thought it would be a good investment to have pavers installed in our back yard to create a patio oasis to relax in during the hot summer. In addition we had rock installed under our deck and in a walkway by the side of the house. We had multiple issues with lack of communication, workers throwing their garbage in our flower beds, workers leaving our water on, project goals not followed and to top it off our gate was destroyed by the workers who cut it several times without our permission. When we contacted the project manager she wasn't willing to take care of the situation correctly until we gave a replace our gate ultimatum. The gate was replaced and looks good. Our frustration with the quality of work, lack of respect for our property, lack of communication and not getting a referral fee fell on deaf ears. Save yourself time, money and frustration by going with another company who hires professional project managers, subcontractors and designers. read more

Our first experience with System Pavers was a little messy, specifically with the initial consultant who helped us put together our design. But this time around for our second project, Lidiana was ON the ball with everything! She had fantastic suggestions, knew what would look good and what wouldn't, and wasn't afraid to be honest with me, and most importantly, she was COVID-safe with social distancing and mask wearing (which was very important to us since I am considered a high-risk individual). She was incredibly professional and quick to respond whenever I had questions. For the actual project, we worked with Dustin's team again, and as before, was impressed with his level of commitment and communication throughout the entire process. Knowing I was a high-risk individual, he was flexible enough to communicate with us via text or phone so he wasn't always coming up to our door, and even allowed for us to have paperwork (that needed to be signed) be set into a box at the front door so we didn't have to make direct contact. I mean that's going the extra mile. And in times like these, those things really matter! After everything was done, we were just SO happy with the outcome of the project. Alan was the first person to respond to our request for quotes/assistance with our walking path project. We got into his schedule quickly and when he came to our home he spent a great deal of time reviewing options with us for the project. He never rushed us, but was very convincing. Before he left, we had committed to using their company for our project. Actually getting into their schedule for service took almost five months, but we felt confident that we had made the right choice so that was okay. Alan stayed in touch and brought Raleigh, the project manager, to the house to review the project and make sure we were all on the same page. When the materials arrived, they were placed in exactly the right place, which was nice! It wasn't long after that when the project actually began on a Friday morning. The crew was wonderful, taking great care with everything, and cleaning up after themselves. They even worked on Saturday, which was surprising, but great! For the most part, the project was finished on Monday. We did encounter a bit of a snag that was not anticipated, but we managed to work through it and we ended up with a breathtakingly beautiful new walking path!!! Pretty sure we will be the envy of the neighborhood - when the weather is good enough for the neighbors to actually come and see it!! My home had two pathways on the north and south sides of our house that we had put in ourselves. The north pathway (rock & cement) was very uneven and moss had made it slick over time. The south pathway was a gravel path with circular cement steppingstones where the stones had shifted position over time. There was also a cement slab off the driveway leading to the gravel path. Both the north and south pathways were uneven to walk on or move anything across its surface. After 29 years, it was time to replace both pathways. I happened to encounter System Pavers at the Portland Outdoor Living Show and contacted them. Design consultant, Lidiana, kept her appointment promptly, she was friendly, and provided good selection choices, lots of examples, and brochures on how I could redesign the pathways. I liked the fact that System Pavers seemed very professional, reliable, and willing to guarantee their work and paving projects. Therefore, I proceeded with signing up for the pathways to be replaced by System Pavers. It was about a week or so later that the project manager, Matt, came out to assess and verify the plans and measurements initially done by Lidiana. I encountered delays in scheduling (a week later from what was originally scheduled) so I had to reschedule all my appointments in order to clear my schedule so I could be available for the crew while the construction was in progress. I wanted to be on-site at home in case there were any questions. The materials for the job were delivered on a Wednesday to my driveway, several days in advance of the work starting, and I was concerned about the materials (i.e. theft concern) since the crew didn't start until the following Monday. Once the entire project was completed, there were about 2-1/2 pallets of materials leftover that the crew advised were going to the "dump" and I was asked if I wanted any of the leftover material. For this reason, I question why too much material was ordered considering both the design consultant and project manager took measurements of the existing pathways before ordering the materials for the pathways project. I was NOT credited for the excess materials. Which is why I am giving a rating of 4 not 5 stars. The 3-man System Pavers crew started on a Monday and took a week to complete both pathways by the end of the week on Friday. The crew's start times varied at the start of the week but by mid-week they started about 8am. The crew worked very hard and even worked in the pouring rain on one of the days. From lifting and removing the old steppingstones & gravel, using a jack hammer to remove the old concrete and rock path, removing the dirt & gravel, etc.; the crew did a great job of tearing up and removing the old paths. Then the 3-man crew worked tirelessly to install the layers (gravel, cement, mesh, bricks, polymer sand, etc.) to build both north and south pathways. The crew tried their best to clean up the rocks, dirt, and debris on my driveway as best as they could. I appreciate the crew answering my questions and being very accommodating to my requests while the work was in progress. I'm ecstatic about the look of the new pathways... they both look fantastic!! The new pathways really improve the look of the yard. What a relief too, to finally be able to walk on an "even" path. I'm so glad I had System Pavers replace the pathways. Overall, I'm very pleased with the new pathways and the quality of their work. I would recommend System Pavers for their paving work. read more

I do not recommend System Pavers to anyone. While they are effective at sales, they do not demonstrate the same effectiveness on execution. My project had numerous delays to even start, and multiple issues during execution (lack of materials, different materials ordered, crew unavailable halfway through because they had to start another project, lack of options for problem resolution, issues with vendors). The end result is different from the original design, with changes that we had to accept during project installation due to lack of alternatives ("either change, or wait potentially for months for the project to continue"). Here are a few challenges I faced with System Pavers that would make me caution anyone against hiring them: - Project start was delayed multiple times due to "materials not being ready". This was addressed by blaming the provider and by pushing back the date a number of times. - After the project started, the installation crew had idle days where they were just sitting down waiting for material to be delivered. Similarly, the material providers were blamed. - At the halfway point of the project (3 months after initial payment, 2 weeks after installation start date), we were told that the provider "messed up" and didn't have the materials we agreed upon to build part of our project (the island and the step). The options provided were "wait for an unknown amount of time that can take between 2 weeks and months", or "use this other material, different from the design, and maybe we can continue next week". I accepted the second option and am responsible for the results. Nevertheless, being provided with those two options was not satisfying at all. Project gets delayed a number of times because the materials are not ready (despite being paid for months in advance), and halfway through it has to be changed because they are still not ready. - The materials for my project's pergola were incomplete upon delivery, which caused waste of time for the installation crew that came by to install it, and required more turnaround from System Pavers to actually agree that materials were missing and then talk to the provider to get them. - The pergola that was ordered by System Pavers is entirely different from the one in the design. Also, due to lack of materials, compromises were made on its appearance. I had the option of either having a slightly bigger pergola than paid for, or wait for an unknown amount of time to have something similar to what was ordered (visually and size-wise). I accepted having a slightly bigger pergola by the same price previously paid for, without the finishing visuals. Once again, I am accountable for the decision. And once again, it is upsetting that the two options are "change the project" or "wait some time between 2 weeks and 2 months" because System Pavers couldn't take accountability for timelines. Regarding timelines, System Pavers was careful to never contractually commit to a schedule. However, the timelines that were set during the project execution were not met. Artificial roadblocks were added along the way as well. Expectation management was very poor. Examples: - "We will only do an initial walkthrough after getting HOA approval." - We got HOA approval within 2 days, and still the walkthrough was weeks after. - "We will only order materials after the initial walkthrough." - We try to speed up the walkthrough process, get it done 6 weeks ahead of the estimated project start date, and by then the materials are not ready anyway. - "You have the option of changing this design and we can continue now, or wait to more materials to arrive." - We accept to change the design to continue immediately, but even for that the materials were missing and days were lost waiting for more materials. During the whole project, System Pavers did their best to not commit to any schedule, and every day was a surprise. We didn't know whether the crew was coming or not, or if they would have materials to work with. As much empathy as one can try to have when hearing "These providers are always difficult to work with, it is always like this" from the System Pavers management, just complaining does not help. I wish they were pro-active and provided options to move forward, instead of expecting acceptance that 'this is just the way it is in construction'. Problems happen and things change, but the minimum I expect is professionalism and dedication. read more

The entire process with System Pavers was top notch! JP was our designer and initially came out to our new home just as we were finishing construction. We decided to live in the space a while to determine our backyard needs but we're so impressed with JP we contacted him a year later. We now have a gorgeous area to enjoy our view of the Columbia River! Jeremy, the project manager, was in daily contact during the construction and the team who completed the job were the hardest working and nicest guys ever! Well after waiting around this morning for System Pavers rep to show up for our 10 AM appointment, I gave up and went about my other business. I gave them an hour to show; no call or email. System Pavers did our neighbors driveway last year and we were impressed with the result so we hired them to put some pavers in our backyard. The project was scheduled for late October, but they somehow managed to move us up to early September...a pleasant surprise! The workers were punctual, personable, and professional. (They were also accommodating as I asked way too many questions every step of the way!) As with most big projects, we changed our minds about some aspects of the design and Matt (project manager) was easy to communicate with and made sure that our changes were executed as we had asked. Great service and quality. We had a fairly large backyard patio, hot tub pad and lighting put in. They did a great job going over the design and were upfront about options and price quotes. They stayed on schedule and communicated great throughout the process. Got it done very efficiently. They were very receptive to feedback and didn't hesitate to make any requested modifications. Install quality was great and I'm confident it was done right. Warranty is a bonus and feel comfortable knowing they stand by their work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. read more

It was difficult getting started due to scheduling and crew availability, however, they did a great job. The design plan was well done to help our ideas become visible to us. Project management kept us in the loop to work progress. The crew worked hard in cold and icy weather. We did change our project plan after work started based on a recommendation from the crew and although unplanned cost was incurred, the final project is a great addition to the home. read more

I used System Pavers to do a Patio job for me about 4 Years ago. They did a really good job. But the reason I'm writing this review is because of the great service they gave after the installation and what they just did. I noticed that some of the bricks had become un even and discovered that the majority of the problem was because of moles. They came out and took care of all of the damage absolutely free! That's good customer service! I would definitely recommend them and do business with them again read more
