Went here for a lunch a few months ago and everything was perfect! Beautiful afternoon sitting on the patio overlooking the water. The tempura lobster tacos were my group's fan favorite!

We are here for the first time today. The place is hidden among businesses and the restaurant sign says "Ketch". There is a parking lot next to the restaurant in the back. We were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. Freddy went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. We would definitely come back here. We ordered the following: Salmon Sandwich - 5/5* - ordered blackened with house chips. The fish was cooked perfectly. The chips were excellent and not oily like others house made chips I've had. Swordfish Tacos - 5/5* - ordered with house cut "fat" fries. The fish was cooked to perfection. The fries were seasoned well and the right amount of crispy for me. Chocolate Chip Cookies - 5/5* - Came as complimentary with the meals.

I went there to celebrate with my co-sisters for my birthday and we were so graciously treated with so much kindness! The manager John Lee was so attentive to us and he even offered us free dessert since we were celebrating and it brought sunshine on such a gloomy San Diego day! I definitely recommend this restaurant and location! You will not be disappointed with the views and service! Shout out to John Lee! Supreme service!!

I finally got a chance to check out the Brig HQ on a weekday. It's located off convoy just a block away from the Starbucks drive thru. There is street parking and also a private lot next to their business. They place a sign on the side walk so it's not hard to find this place. The restaurant isn't too large, I'd say a max capacity of less than 50 people. This is a casual place, you can order at the register and your food will be served at your table. I was pleasantly surprised that this location includes Brigantine's newest project Ketch Brewing so we had the option to try their tap and their food. The menu rotates every Tuesday with their staple Brig HQ burger and fish tacos remaining on the menu daily. These fish tacos are one of the most popular dishes at the actual Brigantine restaurants so it's nice that it's available here too. The menu list is small, maybe 10 items or less. We ordered the Brig HQ burger, bbq wings and the ahi sandwich (catch of the day special). All menu items were under $13 and for non beer drinkers they offer stubborn soda fountain drinks. The Brig HQ burger was rather large with a double meat patty and cheese. I hate to say this but I found the meat gamey so I thought the grilled onions and cheese helped mask that taste. I won't order that again, because after all Brigantine specializes in seafood so I should've known better than to order a beef dish. However, the seasoned steak fries that came with it, were thick, fried but soggy which are my favorite qualities in fries. I would definitely order the fries again. The ahi sandwich was served on a toasted brioche bun with sliced up lettuce. Combine this with their tartar mayo =delish. Our meal was topped off with complimentary warm baked chocolate chip cookies. Nothing beats a fresh warm cookie after a savory meal. The staff was also very friendly, particularly the woman who was placing orders and serving the entire place. She made us feel at home and you could tell she knew a lot of the regulars who probably walk over from neighboring businesses. Since this is a test kitchen I was wondering if we'd be asked to fill out a survey or have an opportunity to give our opinions about the new dishes but that wasn't the case. Overall, it was like eating at a casual version of Brigantine which is much quicker.

Came by on a recommendation from a friend of mine and immediately liked this place because of the ambiance. Clean modern design combined with a playlist playing overhead that could have easily matched one of mine - classic rock - Steve Miller laying down "keep on rockin me baby" followed by one of my favorite Van Morrison songs, "into the mystic". The place smells good too, sometimes a sign that the food is good.....which brings me to the food - delicious! Since my first intro I have tried lots of menu items. Because it's a test kitchen, menu options do change but their staple items include great salads that can include freshly grilled or blackened salmon or ahi tuna. The crispy calamari and peppers are a good choice as an appetizer enough for 3 or 4 to share and is tasty with the aioli and soy glaze. I've also had the burger, fish tacos, and ahi and salmon sandwiches and everything has beef excellent. Plates come with choice of fresh cut fries, chips or salad. They are now a full fledged brewery also, offering at least 6 different locally crafted beers. The only downside is they close at 2 pm, so I haven't had a chance to taste the beer The best part of the meal comes at the end when "Gaby" brings a fresh made chocolate chip cookie to finish off the meal. Gaby is superstar who not only takes your order, but delivers it as well.....and always with a smile! Today I ordered the Salmon BLT, an item that's not in the menu today but has appeared in the past and they happily made it for me. Bottom line, this place is really good!

I have to say I am quite fond of this Brig HQ pub & eatery with its very causal and touch of trendy attitude and low key but well inspired menu. They are only opened for lunch at this time craft beer on tap is just around the corner. I order a daily special: the salmon BLT served on a toasted brioche bun and served with a side of house made potato chips. I asked for my salmon to be prepared at a medium temp and they hit my expectation right on the mark. To make matters better, the salmon was delicious with its seasoning and moderate searing on its exterior. It was very moist and tender. It was a quality piece of fish. The salmon BLT's bacon was terrific and had a slight crisp and excellent chew. It flavor was not to shabby as well. Good stuff. I was happy that they did not hold back on the avocado slices as many places do, and that the tomatoes slices were of good size and juicy. This was definitely a proper BLT with something extra. The brioche bun was well toasted and came glistening with joy. It was a very good quality tasty bun and it held up well to the ingredients in between. The salmon BLT also came with a sauce. I can't remember exactly what it was but it was delicious and creamy. The house made potato chips were good. They had good seasoning and tasted great, but their texture was inconsistent. So the chips were crisp, others were hard, and some to soft. Consistency is important in this case You order at the counter and that is where I met "Gabby" who was and is an absolute super star. She was very cordial and had great sense of humor. Her personality made the meal that much better.

This is their luscious Quinoa Burger. $10 and hefty portion. Lots of fresh cut fries with it.

The bar area was beautiful and sitting area down below had a view to the open kitchen. You were seated quickly with the reservation we made. The cocktails were delicious and many are inspired by Japanese/asian notes. Their menu rotates seasonally, so what I have tried may not be what's available to you. But between 8 girls we got 2 house sourdoughs, several small plates to share, and two roasted ducks. There was a good amount of roasted duck and fried rice left over, so it was a good amount of food to share. The kitchen sent over complementary "deviled egg" merengues and black currant jelly palate cleansers at the end. I really enjoyed the peach salad (Regier Farm Peaches) and SD tuna crudo, but the other items were a little underwhelming for me, particularly the roasted duck which was overly salted IMO. Perhaps I'm comparing to the Peking style roasted ducks but the skin was not as crispy and meat was not as juicy. The fried rice was also catered more towards the Western palate, although leaving the duck head on the plate does comparatively add a little more of a wow factor. Ingredients tasted really fresh overall, so I can see the appeal. And a rotating menu keeps both the regular and first-time patrons coming. We did find a price discrepancy with our salad and let our waitress know, and the manager corrected it for us. Hopefully that doesn't happen often, but larger parties, best be wary.

My server, German, (his name) enjoyed helping me create the ideal light supper and allowed me to try a few Spanish wines (they have so many!). I settled on a Verdejo from Rueda. It was the right balance of fruit, acid, and slight floral to perfectly pair to my meal. I had the seasonal fish meuniere - white fish delicious and crispy on top (my favorite), garnished with capers and roe. It was accompanied with a tender lettuce and heirloom tomato salad with saffron dressing. The leftover dressing for the salad was the most amazing vinegar dip for a couple tater tots when I got home. The dressing was something I will go back for! Thank you, Barra Oliba for the perfect Spanish "girl dinner!" Can't wait to come back and try the Paella!

Full bar, good cocktails, wine list and a great variety type of Cold and Hot Tapas to share. Their signature dish for me Is the Black Seafood Paella made with the squid's black ink. Lively music and there is an area where you can dance if you are up to the mood Great place to gather with friends, they do take reservations or you can also walk in and sit at the bar if the tables are busy. The only thing is that there was no a/c in the restroom so it was super hot there even if were there for 2 minutes. Service was average. Not out of this world. I think our waiter was taking care of too many tables at the same time and he was always in a hurry. We had to hunt him down to get our orders taken and even for the bill. This left a lot to desire for the restaurant quality. But still a good option for dinner, fun, laughs and dance.

He mentioned they'd course the dishes out, 2 at a time, ensuring each of the dishes were paired intentionally. Beet Salad From someone who's not easily impressed with vegetable-led dishes, this was delicious. This dish was visually vibrant, and the flavor mirrored that vibrancy. The beets themselves were stunningly soft, even juicy I'd say. It's root-y flavor was ever-present, but it never became unwelcome on the dish. "Fragrant" is another word we all used to describe the plate, with the fresh mint and succulent citrus fruit widening each our eyes. Sweet, savory, fresh and...creamy. This salad sat on top of a delightful carrot labneh, which provided a creamy element further elevating the dish. It brought a bit of tang to the salad that I appreciated. Finally, there was a crunchy detail (which we know I love) from intelligently included pieces of pastelli--a Greek treat made from sesame seeds and honey, and that sweet crunch fostered the table's excitement. Trust was firing on cylinders early, strong start. Hamachi Crudo Insane. I'm a big fan of the amount of flavor that's packed in such a delicate dish. Off rip, you're met with a visually exciting dish. Red, green, and purple from the thinly sliced pepper, cucumber, and radish pop right off the dish. Bright colors and exquisite execution, placed in a circle to match the shape of the dish, had each of us salivating. With the first taste, the crisp bite of fresh cucumber catches your senses immediately, and then subtly spicy, cream sauce. It was aguachile blanco--my first time having the blanco variant. The flavor was stupid, I struggled to describe it's uniqueness. The Mexican flavor profile was proliferated by fresh cilantro and thinly sliced radish, followed with a textured salsa seca. The light nature of the dish paired pristinely with the beet salad. Now, these next two dishes were an exciting 1-2 punch in showing you exactly what Chef is all about--that signature wood fire Wood Grilled Cauliflower I always eat my vegetables, but I rarely enjoy them. They're two for two in accomplishing that feat. In a bowl lined with curry, they served up a healthy helping of cauliflower that showcases its smokiness first. With that first bite, you taste the fire quickly, but what surprised me most was how soft each piece of the veg was. The curry and smoky flavor from the wood fire paired deliciously. Though, my favorite aspect of this delivery was the inclusion of raisins and fresh mint. This was a new combo for me, and it delivered. The sourness from the raisins and the cool, herbaceous qualities of the mint cut right through the charred flavor. A beautiful contrast. As we continued to dismantle the plate, there was a familiar flavor that we all recognized but couldn't identify. Maybe it was the serrano aioli or the black lentils. Either way, we all enjoyed this one. Wood Grilled Octopus This was a favorite of mine, but I was alone in that regard. While nobody disliked the dish, the table had mixed reviews. For me, this was perfectly cooked. The texture of the octopus was ridiculous with a cooking technique that created a crispy exterior while maintaining a tender bite. The smokiness didn't shy away here either. I mean damn. Most weren't a fan of the pepperoni, but fresh, ground meat added a rustic flavor pop that satiated my palate. It held that beloved pepperoni flavor, but this style allowed for it's flavor to spread across each bite. What made this dish unique from any other octopus I've had was the addition of castelvetrano olives and legumes. They both brought an interesting flavor and texture element that surprised me. Lastly, the salsa verde served as a perfect sauce, providing an element of moisture that complimented the charred features. Well done. After round two is when shit got real. Crab Fried Rice OH SHIT. WTF. One of the best rice dishes I've ever had. This is one we all wished was much much bigger. Despite the name, this dish includes chunks of incredibly juicy, wood-roasted lobster that there was never going to be enough of. The crab was shredded and could be found in each bite of plump rice, providing a pleasing flavor. Both a lemongrass emulsion and Thai chili were included, offering a wonderful duality of zest and spice. I thoroughly enjoyed the basil and cashew elements as they created some extra variety in flavor and texture. Not much else is needed for me to say, it's a must order. Char Sui Glazed Brisket OH SHIT.
