Ordered delivery for Father's Day. Victoria Filet with Parmesan Corn (for an additional $3.49). The sticker on top of the container reflected the correct items, however when we opened it, there was a sweet potato inside. I called the restaurant and was transferred three times before the Manager rudely told me I had to contact Grubhub because "it's the driver's responsibility to look in the containers and make sure the order is correct". He took absolutely no responsibility for the incorrect item, though it was clearly the restaurant's error. Living in Clairemont my family has come here over the years, even went to an Outback in Japan years ago...it's always been hot or miss... lately with places like Texas Roadhouse, they are giving Outback a run for their money. Went yesterday to meet my mom for an early dinner. She ordered for me so I let her there. She is elderly and was disappointed that because she thought the hostess saw her try and open the door and was struggling but went back to her hostess stand. My med rare steak came out rare, super cold in the middle and so we had to send it back. My mom's steak was med but was well done. Not sure who's in the kitchen but may need more training. We hadn't been in a while because the last time we went we got the prime rib and it tasted awful, super fatty and had a funny taste. That's what we stopped going, that was a couple years ago. Ate at Outback Steakhouse tonight and it was my first time at this specific location. Kris was our server and he was very attentive and sweet. They were very busy tonight and the cause could've either been due to Monday night football or because they were honoring Veteran's day early, but regardless of the full house the service was still fantastic. That said, this is a franchise chain and obviously they aren't pumping out the top-tier level of steak that you might find at a place like Cowboy Star or Freddy's Chophouse. The wait staff and bartenders are all very friendly, welcoming, and show just the right amount of attention--helpful without being overbearing. We randomly started going to Outback after a spell of not coming for years. It reminds me of my time in Japan because Outback is one of their "American" restaurants that they have! We keep coming back because of their service and the food rarely misses the mark each time we've gone. Most of our servers have been attentive and kind (like Alivia--shoutout to Alivia!) and they always offer more bread (a plus in my book, lol). First off, the bread and butter that they serve was already a great way to start because it was so flavorful and light. Well she wrote "sear it", but meant to use the flat top ...well the kitchen just "seared" the new price of meat on the same grill and sent it out to me lower than rare. So the new piece of meat was blue in the middle and still had the burnt taste. At least this one didn't smell like poop, but still disappointing in the flavor department as far as being able to actually taste the meat. I showed the server that the meat was blue and so they put it on the flat top to bring it to medium. I tried my wife's regular ribeye and it was much better despite being cooked to well done when she asked for medium like I did. I have a stomach ache now though, so don't think I'll dine at outback for a very long time. To me rotten food cancels out anything else you can do right in the food service industry. This stuff should never leave the kitchen and you rely on everybody to spot it, but especially the cooks!! read more

Food: The free bread you get is great and I feel it's the same as the brown bread from Cheesecake Factory. If you ever miss the fair and want a bloomin onion, come here! Initially, the experience was great. I started off by being greeted by the hostess at the door who then sat me at a table for one in the lounge. Once I was sat the host told me my server would be Ryan and I sat there for 15 minutes (2:03pm-2:18pm) never being greeted until I had to moved tables out of the lounge. About two weeks ago my wife and I visited the Mission Valley location. The review I left reflected a 1-star rating. The service and food were below par. Management heard our complaint and offered us the chance to change our mind, so we changed location. I ordered the house salad and 9oz sirloin medium with mashed potatoes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While awaiting our food, I observed the bar tender and another, whom I assumed to be the manager, socializing with several persons at the bar. My wife was content with her items, although she stated the shrimp didn't appear to be a fresh dish, that it tasted like they had been frozen. I rarely order steak from national chains, generally choosing burgers or sandwiches. I was quite surprised to find this cut of sirloin exceptionally well seared with a perfect pink hue. Sirloin isn't the most tender cut, but I was pleased with the quality, tenderness and flavor. The mashed potatoes were equally satisfying. The included desert was cheesecake with a raspberry or chocolate drizzle. My wife ordered hers to go and we both enjoyed mine at the table. It was a nice finish to a rather good meal. Donald was on top of things the entire time. I watched him tend to three other tables, never missing a beat. Not one to chat, he did his job and he did it well.
