Solid and well-priced. The meat could use a couple more hours maybe at a lower temp. The flavor combination of the og sandwich is fantastic, it's odd to find the meat itself as the weakest element when the place is named for it. Nonetheless, glad to have found this little place when looking for food in the area.

I'm not sure why this listing is so messed up, but if you check the listing for Sweet and Savory Bakery next door you'll find a lot more pictures and reviews for this place that seems to be owned by the same family. The sandwiches were soooo delicious. We tried the Fuego and OG sandwiches and both were stacked with plenty of tritip on a fresh baked chiabata bun. We also grabbed a Caesar salad, which had a generous amount of shaved Parmesan, and the highlight was fresh made Smoked Mac N Cheese that was being made in the smoker when we arrived and was on the specials menu. Highly recommended adding some to your order. We're already talking about heading back to this place very soon.

Happy hour was a great deal, $6 each item up until 6PM! I'm a cocktail girlie so I got the blue hawaiian, which was yummy. I would come back for their food or HH! Chicken Katsu Sando w/ Fries (4/5): it felt more like a chicken sandwich than a true katsu sando, but it was still good! I would've liked the chicken to be crunchier, but it came with a nice coleslaw which gave it a crunch. Fries were thin and crispy Buffalo Cauliflower (4.5/5): delicious! They were nicely battered and not overly buffalo-y. Plus the ranch was SCRUMPTIOUS Pretzel Balls (3.5/5): I wasn't a huge fan of the cheese dip. The balls were chewy and tasted like pretzels. Maybe I would've liked them more if they were crunchy?

I wasn't feeling like an entree so just got two sides -- roasted veggies and mashed potatoes -- but I could not finish either of them. The mashed potatoes had so much butter or oil I felt legitimately nauseous halfway through eating them. The veggies were smoky but also a bit oily. For $10 per side, I was very disappointed. Those that got the Caesar salads said they were too fishy, and that the anchovy taste was too strong and needed lemon to balance it out. I was told the Mac and cheese was low on sauce and generally flavorless, tasting store-bought if anything. The Arlo Bolognese though two of my party members said was ok. The single waiter likely had too many tables to serve as it took him a little while to get back to us each time. The restaurant's decor and ambiance seemed elegant, but the food experience for the very extensive price we paid was abysmal.

This place exceeded every one of them. Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, Wolf in the Woods feels like a hidden European café you'd stumble upon while traveling. Sitting outside beneath the umbrellas with a cocktail, watching the neighborhood stroll by. It felt like a little corner cafe in Paris. Then the food arrived. Every plate was beautifully presented, but the real magic was in the creativity of the flavors. The combinations were unexpected, yet every one worked. Every dish had me wondering how on earth someone came up with these pairings in the first place. The Sweet Corn & Piñon Soup deserves a standing ovation. We literally stopped talking after the first spoonful. Rich, savory, slightly sweet, comforting and completely unexpected all at the same time. Both of our eyes rolled back in our heads. The Beef Tataki completely surprised me. The outside had a delicate seared crust, the inside cut like butter, and the citrus pairing made me rethink what flavors belong together. And the mushroom and polenta dish? The mushrooms had an incredible texture--like savory little pieces of mushroom jerky. I would have happily bought a pound of them just to snack on. Every dish felt like it was taking me somewhere I'd never been before, yet somehow felt familiar at the same time. Wolf in the Woods creates an unforgettable experience.

Books & Records Delivers Live Jazz, Standout Cocktails, and Exceptional Happy Hour Bites…read moreAs a fan of Common Stock, expectations were high for its Bankers Hill sister spot, Books & Records--and it easily delivered. The moment you step inside, the bi-level space makes a striking impression with its mid-century accents, exposed brick, and warm, moody lighting. It manages to balance a lively, energetic atmosphere with an effortless chicness that feels tailored for a memorable night out. The happy hour here is an absolute standout, featuring an expansive array of creative food options and crafted drinks. The menu brings an inventive Asian fusion twist to bar bites, offering flavor-forward small plates that pair seamlessly with the beverage program. The drinks deserve equal applause: the craft cocktails are meticulously balanced, and the signature ube-inspired cocktails are as vibrant and distinct as they are delicious. Adding to the venue's overall charm is the live music program. Catching live jazz, soul, and blues sets elevates the entire experience from a simple dinner run into a full sensory event. The music creates a vibrant, soulful backdrop without overpowering table conversation, striking just the right rhythm for intimate catch-ups or energetic group gatherings. Whether you are dropping in for a quick drink, indulging in a multi-dish happy hour spread, or lingering late for the live tunes and exceptional cocktails, Books & Records captures everything that makes CS Hospitality's concepts so special. Sadly, the B&R Mac n Cheese did not do it for me. It was missing seasoning and the flakes tasted stale. The staff did give us salt & pepper to jazz it up which did help. The pizzas, however, were more hit-or-miss. We tried all three on the menu. The mushroom pizza was our favorite (I'd give it a solid 9/10). The other two were decent (around 8/10), though the chorizo and the fig + prosciutto versions both came out quite dry. Service was the bigger letdown. Our server, Alexis, seemed bothered by the number of dishes we ordered for a party of seven. I felt rushed when ordering and had to clarify that we weren't in a hurry since we were celebrating two birthdays. I'm not sure if the goal was to keep food coming steadily or to turn the table quickly for the next reservation. We also had an issue with the carajillos. I specifically asked if the bar knew how to make them. What arrived had no espresso, just coffee liqueur, and tasted like cough syrup. We sent them back. Later the manager explained the espresso machine was broken and they managed to make proper ones for us, which was a nice recovery. The surprise, though, was still being charged for both rounds without any discussion after we returned the first ones. On a positive note, the server did bring out birthday dessert for the two birthday guests, which was a thoughtful touch. The space itself looks nice, but it didn't quite live up to Michelin-star expectations for me. Overall, I won't be returning, though I'd still recommend it to friends or family specifically for the pork belly (especially over the kabocha squash).
