The work was good, but extremely expensive for the alterations needed. The store is a small store but carries high quality suits, sport coats and shirts, but again at very high prices. If I was still working, I would probably shop for some. As I am retired, I only needed some alterations for a few sport coats for casual use. I do not plan to use them for that again, however I may buy some of their merchandise if the need arise.

However, the last two times I have gone have been a nightmare. Before even seeing the garment I was told that it was take over a week to hem a jumpsuit. This was an outfit I needed sooner than that so I just returned it instead. I recently went in to have a dress altered and before even showing the gentleman the dress, I was told it would be at least two weeks before they could get it done. While that would've been fine because I didn't need the dress right away, the tone and disinterest in my service was already frustrating. I continued to show my dress and explain what I wanted done. Shorten the straps, take in the waist, and hem the length. While I know that is a good amount of work, the dress is not lined and has spaghetti straps, so definitely not the most complicated garment they have had to alter. I was quoted $85 for a dress that I spent $40 on! Absolutely not! Not only was the man rude, but that price seemed a little high. I took my dress to a cleaner In Sycamore instead where the woman was an absolute delight. She had me try the dress on, pinned it until it was perfect, gave me a couple small discounts and then quoted me. For all of the work listed above, I paid $40 and the dress was done in a week, probably could have been sooner if I needed it. When I picked it up the dress looked great, exactly how I hoped it would and they even pressed it for me. V.I.P cleaners made it clear that they did not value my business, they must be far too busy with more important things. I will not be back as I will be visiting my new "place" in Sycamore from now on.

Second one was for patio. Very heavy with liner to keep cold out. Again, came back with two pleats ruined, severely wrinkled, and shrunk fabric 3" above liner. In both cases, they never said anything hoping I wouldn't noticed. Had to take to seamstress to repair as best possible. Although they gave me a cleaning refund for the patio, they destroyed the drapes (about $1,700) Most upsetting is that they didn't even admit to it in either case. Very disappointed in the deception the most. It was very obvious that these were very good quality drapes and absolutely no care was taken in handling them. They make you sign a waiver, which most places do, but it looked like a Rottweiler handled these. One would expect better care and honesty with customers instead of trying to pass off their incompetence and mistakes.

I brought them back to the cleaners and showed them and asked them to correct the uneven hem. They took the pants and said they would do that. About 30 minutes later, the man from the cleaners called me and told me that they didn't do the work. I laughed at first, because I have my bank receipt showing that they did the work, the date and the amount they charged me. I explained that to him over the phone and the man started yelling so I hung up on him. My husband went there with the receipt and he wouldn't even look at it, claiming that they didn't do that type of stitch! I've always been happy with their work, but since the owners have insinuated that I'm a liar, and wouldn't reimburse me for the money I spent to have the jeans hemmed, nor would they correct the lousy job they did, I am no longer taking my business to them for anything. I'll find another cleaner and use Tailor, Needle and Thread in Saint Charles for alterations.
