The customer service here is rather disappointing. I had one pair or pants altered here over a year ago and thought I had found "my place" after moving into the area. However, the last two times I have gone have been a nightmare. Before even seeing the garment I was told that it was take over a week to hem a jumpsuit. This was an outfit I needed sooner than that so I just returned it instead. I recently went in to have a dress altered and before even showing the gentleman the dress, I was told it would be at least two weeks before they could get it done. While that would've been fine because I didn't need the dress right away, the tone and disinterest in my service was already frustrating. I continued to show my dress and explain what I wanted done. Shorten the straps, take in the waist, and hem the length. While I know that is a good amount of work, the dress is not lined and has spaghetti straps, so definitely not the most complicated garment they have had to alter. I was quoted $85 for a dress that I spent $40 on! Absolutely not! Not only was the man rude, but that price seemed a little high. I took my dress to a cleaner In Sycamore instead where the woman was an absolute delight. She had me try the dress on, pinned it until it was perfect, gave me a couple small discounts and then quoted me. For all of the work listed above, I paid $40 and the dress was done in a week, probably could have been sooner if I needed it. When I picked it up the dress looked great, exactly how I hoped it would and they even pressed it for me. V.I.P cleaners made it clear that they did not value my business, they must be far too busy with more important things. I will not be back as I will be visiting my new "place" in Sycamore from now on. read more

Their prices are good, but I have had several shirts ruined by their laundry service. The collars and cuff came out burnt and the colors all faded. Dry cleaning services seems OK though. The did a couple pillows and bedspread and they turned out well. read more

The people who run the front know what they are talking about so you can ask them questions about your clothing. The prices are very competitive. It is out of my way but worth it when I can good deals and trust them with my clothes. read more

VIP used to be pretty reliable, but their staffing issues are pretty disappointing. I've gone in a few times in the last month to get things hemmed and couldn't be served. The first time I went in the clerk said the seamstress was out all week. The next time the clerk said she doesn't know how to take measurements and the seamstress only works mornings. Well, it's Saturday morning and not only is the seamstress not working, but they can't do same day dry cleaning (today) because this clerk doesn't know how to use the equipment... she is just there for people to pick things up. Excellent customer service! I called at 7:30 am, because I needed my lab coat dry cleaned same-day before I headed back into the city for work. They got me in right away, and had my coat done before 3 pm that day! (I didn't come back until 3 pm, so it could have been done earlier). They even remembered me when I came back later that day, and had me in and out within seconds. Overall, I am happy to have had a very positive and seamless experience with this place. Couldn't be happier with the service I've gotten at VIP Cleaners in Dekalb. The staff is excellent; they even remember my name when I'm dropping off items before work. I've used them for mostly dress shirts and pants, but a sweater and jacket once too. Always did a great job. Prices seem on par with other dry cleaners. I will continue to use these guys. read more

Great prices. Professional and honest. The gentlemen that takes your order works 80 hours a week and knows everyone who walks in the door. He gives you an honest opinion of what your item needs. I wouldn't even give them one star. I went to have two suit jackets dry cleaned and they were musty smelling after cleaning. There's NO way they dry cleaned them. They basically just steamed them and called it a day. Super unsatisfied with their business. I won't be returning. Tried to bring up the issue instead of handeling it like professionals, they got all defensive. Super guilty defense mechanism. Don't waste your time or money. I wish I hadn't. read more

Good prices. Great service. Always ready on time. I would NOT go here for alterations because the woman that does them is rarely there. I use them all the time for dry cleaning though. The usual guy at the front desk knows me by name and doesn't even have to ask when I drop off or pick up the clothes.
