It's the same reason I avoid Starbucks establishments if I can: that same bitter aftertaste. Maybe it's the equipment used; maybe it's their beans: maybe it's their methods. Dubnknow. When you walk in the front door, the case straight ahead is filled with Slavic desserts, while the one to the left features other European specialties. The left side of the building is dedicated to coffee and retail baked goods, while the right side serves as a sit-down restaurant. This is a genuine European style bakery, and there's also plenty of covered outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your order outside. I ordered an iced mocha that was absolutely delicious - you can really taste the coffee through the chocolate instead of it being overly sweet, which I loved. The coconut macaroon I got on the side was phenomenal and paired perfectly with the drink. They're roasting beans less than 20 feet from where I was sitting, and even before we walked in, you could smell the coffee from the parking lot. It adds so much to the atmosphere knowing everything is that fresh. Service was top notch: super friendly, accurate with the order, and genuinely down to earth and inviting.
