I love this bookshop! I stopped in while waiting to get seated for brunch and wished I could've spent more time browsing. The selection is excellent, with a lot of variety...fiction, non fiction, poetry, short stories, pop culture, young adult, you name it. They also have a lot of cute gifts, like notebooks and cards. The employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the space itself is bright and airy. All in all, just a place you would want to spend a lot of time in. I'll definitely be back! read more

I make it a habit to visit local bookstores whenever I visit a new town. Do I NEED more books?? Always. I found this place when we visited Flagstaff last year and fell in love. We came to Flagstaff last month for a little COVID getaway. My husband is a loving and patient man and supports my book addiction (I think he's aware it's much more affordable than a designer handbag addiction...but I have one of those too). I called to see if they were open and they were!! They took great precaution to keep their customers safe. I didn't realize how much I missed the smell of books until I walked in. I found two amazing books that had been on my list and had a great chat with the employee as I was checking out and received other recommendations based on my purchase selections!! "Bayesian Probability for Babies." This bookshop lives up to Flagstaff's advocacy of STEM education. I rarely buy children's books because I'm a supporter of local libraries but this shop has so many great choices for children I bought a couple books as gifts. My husband also enjoyed the Native American section. read more

This is by far our favorite business in Flagstaff. We come in at least once a week to look at and buy books. The staff are incredibly sweet and friendly, always give our dog a treat and pets. They have such a well curated selection of books with thoughtful handwritten reviews/recommendations from staff. Lots of other trinkets, fun socks, puzzles, games, etc. You'll regret missing this fabulous shop if you're just passing through. read more

This independent bookshop which sells only new books is small but mighty. If they don't have what you want they will order it. The store is interesting, brightly lit and has a cheerful, positive vibe. The store is very clean and uncluttered. This is a good place to go to find that perfect book that you didn't even know that you're looking for! There is a well-curated selection of interesting books, including many that you may not see elsewhere. The magazine section and local area books selection is substantial. There are signs beneath books that are recommended by staff. The staff, all of them, are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Sam helped me last time and she is a kind, friendly person. There is a very cute children's area and also an area to have readings and events. This is a very active bookshop with lots of author events, activities, parties and readings. The community benefits from the children's and adult's events held here. read more

Love this indie bookshop! Not only do they have a wonderful assortment of books, but they also have unique gifts, cards and amazing customer service. The friendly staff there are very knowledgeable and can order anything they don't have for you pretty quickly. It has a great vibe that makes you want to hang out and browse. This is probably the most unique bookshop I have ever seen with such a wonderful collection of books & gifts. Came here 2 nights in a row while visiting Flagstaff because it was that good. I had begun to lose hope of finding bookshops like this anymore, Bright Side is an absolute gem! They do a great job stocking their shelves with a good mix of classics and new reads. SO many things caught my eye, I could have stayed there for hours (my daughter didn't have the patience for that). They also have a large number of staff recommendations, well marked, throughout the store. Which, to me, shows the employees (who were all very friendly and helpful) are passionate readers as well. In addition, they have a very unique and fun selection of gift and stationery items. I already put a dent in their inventory but I think I'm going to have to sneak in another visit before we head home!!! read more

Damn, this is a great bookstore. I frequently buy second hand books, but I love to have new copies of certain books, and I love book related items (ie. Hermoine Granger quote T shirt). For those things, I must come to Bright Side, one of my favorite bookstores of all time. I live down in the valley, but probably pop into this fabulous indie bookstore on a monthly basis to peruse the shelves. Thank you for creating a perfect space for literature. read more

Bright Side is amazing! The other day I emailed them to order a few journals to help the kiddos process the coronavirus per a teacher's recommendation and they found reasonably priced and cute journals for us. I also found a cute little homemade hand soap in our bag when I picked it up curbside. I shop here almost every week as is, but I am grateful they are now selling online!
