I have been going to this location for years, I remember after school Id occasionally go thrifting at the goodwill nearby and end the day with a big box of fries. The food is cheap and they give you large portions of fries, it's amazing! However, the restaurant is a small to medium size so it can feel tight at times. Today, I visited with my boyfriend because I wanted to show him the places I visited when I was younger. Now, Im not 100% sure and don't want to point fingers, but Im pretty sure the women taking the order were hitting on him while I was standing right next to him. As they took our order, they kept giggling and glancing at each other, as well as eyeing him. When our food was ready, they sang his name in a sing song voice, which in the two years of going here never happened anytime I ordered food. Usually the service here is very friendly and professional, however I was not so sure this time, and if they were hitting on him (which I hope is not true), I find it extremely disrespectful, especially while I was standing right in front of them. I do not hold any grudges against these ladies, they seemed to be in high school and I understand that at that age I was acting immature as well. It just was frustrating having to watch it all go down and quite honestly disrespectful. Other than that, I have had no bad experiences. If you have an attractive partner maybe be on your heels a little bit, but the food here is pretty good for the price!! The food is great, however I was very offended with my last visit. A man with a SERVICE DOG came in and asked for a Hot Dog ONLY, (No Bun, No onions and No sauce,) and said he was charged HALF PRICE by another Manager, (probably Bob the nice guy,) and the Woman Manager gave him attitude and said WE don't do that here. Forget about HELPING the Community or the service animal, even based on self-centered logic alone, how could the Hot Dog be FULL PRICE when there is NO BUN, No Onions, and NO sauce! That is GREED and disgusting behavior. (I tipped the Cashier my last two dollars, and my card was maxed, otherwise I would have bought it myself.) First off, they have unbeatable prices for unbeatable food. Have two bucks? Get a hot dog with the works: onions, chili, and cheese. Got five bucks? Get a wonderfully thick milkshake with that dog. Maybe you're not feeling hot dogs, which is totally understandable. Well, you could get a juicy, thin 2-patty burger instead. Or maybe a nice bowl of steaming chili, or a comforting crock of wedding soup. Ok, so let's say you had a rough day and you need some comfort. People ask me all the time "how can you love a hot dog shoppe so much?" my answer... "I just do" I have been to one or more of the 12 hot dog shoppe locations every time I visit Pittsburgh (Beaver county) and every time it is just perfect. I think the thing I appreciate most is that Hot Dog Shoppe is nothing fancy (I know some locations have the larger menus) but what you get is a few classics done plain and simple, but done so very well. When I go I always get the same thing, 6 chili and cheese dogs with mustard and onions, and a drink, that's it. I never even liked mustard on a chili dog till they put it on one of mine by accident, and I loved it! I frequent the Rochester location the most due to it's close proximity to my families home, and I think this little location is my favorite. Nothing but a simple menu and a small grill with very hard working people slinging out the best food daily. My Dad always said "it doesn't matter what you do in life, just do it better than everyone else" and Hot Dog Shoppe delivers every time. I can't wait till my next visit, Aloha read more

Note: This BHDS is housed within a fairly abysmal strip mall/shopping plaza. The address given is the one listed on the website and on my receipt. After going to a place that we found wasn't open yet (more on that in another review), we were so hungry that we decided on another BHDS to try, one I hadn't been to before. As soon as we walk in, Kay is recognized by a former manager, and I see that Chicken Rice soup is on the menu. And like that wedding soup as the the one in Ambridge, I found it to be pretty successful. Think of an avgolemono, and you're about 3/4 of the way there. The soft Oscar Meyer franks, the flat, charred, juicy, fresh-ground, addictive, show-stealing little burgers, the chili, the steamed buns, and stringy fries were all of the same high quality of course. This shoppe was a tiny bit unkempt (not as much so as the Ambridge location), but we were starving, and the food was tasty, quick, and economical, so we didn't mind a heckuva lot. Fast food can be fresh, cheap, and damn good. Kill The King, thrash The Clown, pour a beer on The Redhead, and give a Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe a try. P.S. Their mascot is a big...err...weiner. Most people prefer the Hot Dog Shoppe in Beaver but I have no issues with the one in Rochester. The service is fast and they never get the order wrong. It seems like the place is always filled with retired guys or vets but it gives the place character. Even though most people get the hot dogs, I recommend adding a cup of wedding soup to your order. They will also make you a root beer float if you ask nicely! They take credit cards which is always a plus. read more

I was raised by parents that grew up in the area, so as a child I was brought to the Brighton Hog Dog Shoppe quite a bit. I always looked forward to it back then, but after the lunch I had at this location the other day, I think it's safe to say that my fond memories can be attributed to childhood naivety. I got two chili cheese dogs and chili and cheese fries. The fries were a little overdone, and the hot dogs were plain. The chili was runny and seemed to slip off the liquid cheese like a greasy slip and slide. One would think that they would merge into one delicious substance, but some act of science prevents it from happening. Before eating, I had to clean off my own table. This location is small, and it was during lunch, but that's exactly the time of day that they should be focusing on keeping the place in order. It's completely possible that I've been spoiled by Red Hot in Ellwood City, but even ignoring the heavenly dogs and customer service at my favorite hot dog joint doesn't bump this experience up to a three star. read more
