Brighton Resort is a fantastic destination with world-class skiing! I've skied Brighton many times over the years on groomer days, powder days, and at night. Last season I skied more than 30 days at Brighton and had many truly awesome days. The resort has something for everyone with a wide variety of terrain. The powder is some of the best anywhere in the world and earns Utah their slogan of "the greatest snow on Earth." Sure Brighton doesn't have a great lodge or fancy accommodations. The cafe and restaurants are spartan and the food is nothing special. But if you're judging a ski resort based on it's food, you should probably ski someplace else. Brighton may not be the resort for you. What Brighton offers is some of the best skiing anywhere in the world. The staff at Brighton is friendly and laid-back. I know many of the lift operators and everyone is great. Brighton is a locals resort and is a great resort for the dedicated snow sports enthusiastic or someone just starting out. Parking can be problematic, especially on weekends or during the holidays. Get up there early and you'll do fine. read more

Parking system for season pass holders is a joke. The 2023-24 season was way easier to redeem them. I work a 9-5 in Salt Lake City and can only ride on the weekends. I have only been able to redeem a parking pass 2 days so far this season and we're half way through February. It's like getting punished and forced to pay more on top of my $1,000 Ski pas because I live and work in Salt Lake City contributing to the economy. I know this doesn't bother the wealthy tourists who visit each year and get to capitalize on what everyone in the city has helped build. System is flawed and doesn't watch after the locals who love this resort. read more

Could not be happier with our choice to ski Brighton while staying in the area. We loved it so much we decided to not try other places, and we added another day. Every employee was so nice. We had ski school reservations and came in frazzled, and late, due to a big storm. Dain could just tell that we were stressed, he calmly came over and brought our day back to the right foot. I'm so thankful for that interaction. The girls loved ski school and wanted a private the next day. With three adults and five kids, it was the perfect setup to do a full day private lesson for the kids to gain skill and have fun. Allowing the adults to go off together. Everyone at ski school was SO helpful and cheery to get us set up exactly how we wanted. Carlie was so great with the kids as an instructor and guide. Highly highly recommend Brighton. Waits were minimal, easy to get around, not at all pretentious, plenty of options for all levels and Mollys was perfect for a mid day beer and shot :) read more

Brighton needs to reevaluate any and all policies when it comes to lessons and lift tickets. We made the trip to Utah to visit family for Christmas and planned a ski day at Brighton. My wife and two kids signed up for lessons for the morning of 12/29/22. I also purchased lift tickets for the four of us for that day. I didn't anticipate how hard it would be to get up the mountain that morning. What should have been a 30-minute trip up the mountain took nearly three hours. About a mile from the resort, Brighton closed their parking lot and made everyone turn around. This meant missing our lessons that morning. No problem, we'll just switch to the afternoon. NO!!! No refunds and no rescheduling. By the time we made it back down the mountain and to the park and ride lot, the bus lines were horribly long and we wouldn't make it up there anyways. This also meant that my lift tickets were also going to waste because they were only good for that day, not to mention my rental equipment. So frustrating!!! Brighton - If you have guests reserving lessons and purchasing lift tickets for a particular day, you should have ample parking for them. At least allow for an exchange or rescheduling. If I could give it less, I would. Just a word of warning if you're going to Brighton to ski turn on your map on your phone and if traffic is in the red more than 2 miles before the resort... then they don't have any place to park your car cause they don't have near enough parking and they don't obviously care enough about their customers to build more. This happened to me on a Wednesday at 10 o'clock in the morning. Sat in traffic for two hours and then was told when I got there to come back in an hour and a half and when maybe some people would leave.. This is the worst worst resort in the Salt Lake area anyway and the only reason why they have the customers they do is because they're cheap on their prices and offer all day skiing. So glad I did my research before booking this trip. I booked this trip first week of Jan but had reserved it in Dec. As a surprise Valentines gift. If you don't book these early chances you won't get in. When I tried to cancel I couldn't! But thank God for that because I'm so glad & thankful I came. If you book on Travelocity it lets you change the dates (it's what I did) but not get full refund. The resort was everything a couple wants. It was perfect! Sooooo.... Romantic! :)))) The ski slopes awesome! I got to ski which was another awesome experience. It's been so long but it's like riding a bike. You will never forget! We had such an awesome time. The spa a must after a long cold day! We did the couples massage!!! (I had pre-booked it already) IT WAS SOOOO... good!!! I left feeling like jelly!!! The hot tubs, the rooms were perfect. The staff amazing. It has been one of my best trips in years! Recommend this resort to everyone. It's only 4 hours from Moab, if you want to take the drive to the National park. So worth going. Writing on behalf of a distasteful experience that I had with a staff member in the rental department over this past weekend. I was excitedly looking forward to getting back out on the slopes after taking quite a few years off. Along with the excitement came some nervousness. When I arrived I was shuffled to a rental employee that was very tall, thin and had about chin length hair. From what I could tell, he was a newer staff member and was seemingly frustrated with having to help yet another customer. He had made numerous comments under his breath about how the other team members were not helping him and he was "so exhausted". Making the few efforts he put towards my paid service, seemed to be a bother. I got fitted for boots, and I will admit that I am a plus sized woman but have never had an issue with rental equipment in the past. The staff member and myself were struggling to get one of the buckles completely fastened and he made a comment directly to me regarding the size of my calves. I quote "Well your calves are huge. I can't help you." Now, hurtful comments such as this are nothing new and are something that I unfortunately get more often than you think. This of course added to the anxiety that I was already experiencing and made me extremely uncomfortable. Another staff member was able to come over and help me put an extra clamp on the buckle itself to ensure the boot fit properly and comfortably. Commenting that the previously employee was newer and didn't know about this tool. Being new isn't an excuse for ignorance and a green light to speak negatively about someone's body. It is hard for me to grasp that we live in a world where in 2024 I still have to be worried about how I am perceived based off of looks alone and how someone is going to speak about my body. I wish I had that much time to be worried about the body someone else lives in. I spend the first HOUR of my visit dealing with this boot issue as well as taking some minutes to myself to deal with the hurtful comment said. What a waste of both my time and money. It is honestly too bad because once I got outside, I ended up having a great time. I highly suggest that some training in body inclusivity and human decency is rolled out to your new hires and all staff at your resort. I would sure hate to hear of other people in the plus size community having to miss out on an incredible experience all because staff are unequip to deal with bodies of different sizes and shapes. Words are hurtful. They carry weight and impact those that hear them. I hope the next time I have the confidence to hit the slopes again, I do not have to deal with the fatphobic, hurtful words such as those spoken by your staff. read more

I'll give you a few reasons why I like Brighton resort. Maybe first and foremost it is because it is family owned (the kircher family) and it certainly feels that way. You don't feel like you're getting every dollar sucked out of you like some resorts. The lodges aren't anything crazy and new, and I like that vibe. It also gets a lot of snow. If there is a storm coming out of the southwest, head to Brighton. It also has a high base elevation so is almost always snow. No rain here. If I were to rate the terrain alone I would say 3/5 stars. Lots of hills and not a ton of consistent vertical. The best lifts with the best terrain are great western and milly. Views are gorgeous too. Overall I'm giving 4/5 stars. If it wasn't family owned and didn't have a great vibe I'd say 3. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCEWe used to love Brighton but we had the worst experience today. My 6 year old daughter was knocked down by a Brighton Ski instructor "David" on the bunny slope and he yelled at her "you need to learn to ski better!" She is 6 and I'm dealing with a serious health problem and we brought the kids to ski to try to cheer them up and then to have a ski instructor ski right into her and hurt her and then yell at her! He should be a good enough at skiing to not hit someone especially a kid on the bunny slopes! Then my father-in-law who was skiing behind her goes and confronted him and asked him why he did that and the guy gets up in my father-in-law's face and basically tried to fight my father in law, this instructor was crazy, I don't care if your having a bad day you don't yell like that at kids, my daughter was laying there in tears after getting hit by this large adult ski instructor he didn't even grab her hand to pull her up or say sorry or anything, it's terrible her leg is seriously hurt she never wants to go skiing again. We then go talk to the manager of the ski school and he said OK send me an email about it.. send you an email about it, like he didn't care. As we go out of the office David leaves his ski students again to approaches us again and starts yelling at us and gets right in my father in laws face and says you need to teach your daughter how to ski!" All while his ski students are watching.. It took all the restraint in the world to not want to punch the guy in the face what an insensitive person. If Brighton is OK having that kind of staff at the resort I would be very cautious to bring your children to a place that appears to not care about them. Especially to their ski school where they might watch their ski instructor knock down kids and try to fight people. When we traveled to Park City, Utah last week, we found out relatively last minute that the bf was cleared to go snowboarding, so it was time to do some research on what resorts in the area for snowboard friendly because not all of them are. We also researched to find out which resorts had half-day and other ticketing options, since we figured that snowboarding (all that falling down!) would probably get really tiring and w. Some resorts only offer one pass...and they charge a LOT of money for them, so Google gave us some really good information, and that's how we chose Brighton--they gave us the most options! Brighton is about a 45-minute drive from Park City, Utah. If you're not into the $$$$ tickets in Park City & are willing to take a bit of a drive (and weather-permitting), you're in luck. For a 1-day ski trip, Brighton offers NINE options, all costing far less than the bigger resorts. The 2 of us actually rented all of our gear, and got lift passes for less than the price of one lift ticket at the big Park City resorts. I learned from our hotel concierge that Brighton is a "locals" ski resort, so it's also a good option for weekday skiers. As the hotel concierge said "It hasn't snowed so much lately that the locals are going to call in 'sick' to go skiiing". So for a Thursday, Brighton was great--we got there around 11-ish, there was ample parking in a lot small enough that no space was too far away. There was no wait in the rental shop, but they had plenty inventory available, and the staff was super friendly & took their time getting us set up for our rentals. If you've ever felt like a cow being herded in the bigger, more crowded resorts, you will really appreciate this! It's been almost half of my lifetime since I've been on downhill skis or on a chairlift, so quite a bit has changed. All of the changes thanks to technology, plus the small, calm and uncrowded Brighton resort ambiance, non-existent chair lift lines and friendly employees and down-to-earth fellow skiers (there are snooty skiers elsewhere who can be really obnoxious!) made my return to the slopes a great experience! To start the views here are absolutely breathtaking! I haven't ever been to any other ski resorts other than Alta and this one is so pretty and I definitely prefer this one over Alta if you had to choose. This was our second day trying out skiing..and boy was I in for a lot compared to our lesson at Alta. Our instructor was Doro, he was very knowledgeable and helped me get around during our lesson. We were definitely noobs but it was fun to try something new together and the instructor was awesome. It was $88 pp for a lift pass aboard beginner 2 hour lesson. The lesson lasted a little over 2 hours. They have beginner lessons daily at either 10:15 am or 1:15 pm. read more

Brighton Resort was the ski area that everyone told me that I needed to go to. It was highly recommended for beginners like the child. We visited Brighton a few days after Christmas...so did all of Salt Lake City and the locals. I was told to buy my lift tickets on their website. I tried, but, their website was down. Without lift tickets, we made our way up the mountain. The traffic was horrible going up to canyon. It took us almost an hour to get there from the bottom of the canyon. Parking was okay. They had employees pointing us in the right direction. We got a pretty good spot even at 10 AM on probably one of the most crowded days of the year. The lines were confusing. They had long lines outside for lift tickets that I bought lift tickets at. Then I went inside to a long line for rentals. When it was finally my turn to rent equipment, the clerk asked me if I wanted lift tickets as well. Skip the long line outside for lift tickets if you will be renting equipment and go straight to the rental line. It took us another 90 minutes before we had our rentals and were ready to get on the mountain. The mountain itself was nice. We started off with the Majestic ski lift. But, after 3 runs, the line got so long that the wait was over 20 minutes. Fortunately, one of the locals who we rode up the lift with told us to go on the Snake Creek Express. The scenery was great, especially when we took the Snake Creek Express all the way to the top where you cold see Park City. The line was a little shorter at this mid mountain lift. Utah beginner slopes are a tad more difficult than Southern California beginner slopes. Overall, it was a fun day spent on the mountain. Lots of time was wasted because of the confusion. By the end of the day we were exhausted. Sure, if we went to the right lines, we could've save an hour, but, that would've meant that we would be exhausted earlier. Would love to come here again during a less crowded time of year. read more

As a absolutely newbie in skiing I wished there was a bigger "bunny hill" to learn basics, but "easy" slopes were good enough to train on for my first skiing ventures. I liked restaurants in the resort area to grab a quick bite and spacious area to change. My only complaint is frequency of the bus coming up the slope, but I do not believe it was resort's fault that we spent about 2 hours in line waiting to come up. read more

They have a little green 'warm up' run next to the ski school so that was great for a couple of us. NIGHT SKIING which i'm pretty sure is not too common. Love, love love this ski resort! Came here recently on a ski trip with a big group of friends and it was such a wonderful experience! Parking was a breeze, the lifts were high tech like most of the high end resorts, you just put the access card in your pocket and the lift entry automatically senses and let you through. There was no lines on any of the lifts and that was on a Saturday. The trails are nicely groomed and well covered. Long and steep runs for all levels including us daredevils. There's also great tree runs where the trees are perfectly spaced apart! The highlight of our day has to be running into Santa who was skiing around and posing for photos with everyone. It was so much fun and he was wonderful to talk to. The food on the mountain is your normal cafeteria food and of course over priced, really need to improve in this area. The chili totally came out of a plastic bag or a can and didn't taste very good at all. The nachos did have me a stomachache after a few hours. The lift ticket prices are hey reasonable and you can score a discount if you purchase online in advance. read more

It ain't just for skiing! I mean sure. If you want world class skiing in one of the snowiest places on earth with some pretty amazing powder, and some incredible night skiing. With great accessibility to Salt Lake City proper and an international airport nearby then yes, you should definitely consider Brighton for skiing. And boarding. Or cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing. But as a fell who's only had a precious few outings with planks or boards strapped to his feet, I come at this from a "the other 4 seasons" approach. And Jeffrey likey. SPRING Officially the mud season. Although in some years they've been skiing here on the 4th of July. Sometimes spring doesn't really exist, as Brighton will go straight from winter to summer in the course of a couple weeks. But don't overlook the resort. Early spring skiing can still bring some powder days, and even when skiing is over there's nothing more lovely than time in the canyon watching the color come back to the trees. The drive up the canyon yields new life and color and the river is raging. SUMMER Oh yeah. Up front I have to tell you that I'm more of a solitude king of guy. Not Solitude the resort, I mean solitude like I don't really care for crowds when I'm in the mountains. But for the accessibility of Brighton to you when you're living in the Salt Lake Valley, it would be hard to imagine anything better. Just a short, green, cooling ride up the Canyon and you're in a forested paradise. A semi-suburban/cabin-filled paradise. But a paradise of sorts. Hiking abounds. Silver Lake is supremely accessible, with a boardwalk covering most of its shoreline. From there, you can take off up to Twin Lakes Reservoir (short but steep) or take the long way around to Lake Solitude. Or start back at the parking lot at Brighton and do the Lake Mary/Martha/Catherine hike if you've more time or pop down to Dog Lake. All fantastic and relatively simple options. There's a good chance you'll have company on the trail, but convenience has its price. Bring along a fishing pole. Silver Lake is regularly stocked with little trout. FALL Don't. Forget. Camera. The leaves are breathtaking. The canyon is cool, crisp, powerful, and bursting with precipitation's anticipation. And often quiet. After Labor Day it gets quieter, although all bets are off on sunny Saturdays. There are a few amenities at Brighton. Winter brings back more tourism, dining, ski shops, and bustle. But don't forget the other three season. People still have to eat. And the mountain doesn't go away just because the snow does. read more

I debated on whether or not to review Brighton, as I like to think of this resort as one of the best local secrets. Unlike other resorts that have a corporate or franchised vibe, Brighton has a more family, personable vibe to it. The terrain in my opinion is the best Utah can offer. You have both steep and flat conditions. Easy to Advanced runs. Groomers and back country, all accessible from a chair lift or with minimal hiking! Other resorts could be very steep or very flat, Brighton is just right. Unlike Park City, The Canyons, or Snowbird, Brighton is well laid out and managed in order to avoid waiting in long lift lines, parking far away from the lifts and the ticket office. You dont have to trek miles in order to go to your car for lunch or to shed or add a few layers, your car is at the bottom of the lift! I love Brighton, I'm a lifer. I grew up riding there for 200+ days a year for 6-7 years! Now I'm more of a weekend warrior and wouldn't waste my time going to any other resort. Brighton is fairly priced. Especially if you compare it to riding any other resort whose day pass is upwards of $100, which includes a 20 minute wait in line at the bottom of every run! Local or tourist, do yourself a favor and ride Brighton! *side note, Great for both Skiing and Snowboarding, but skiing is probably the minority here. read more

Brighton is my favorite place to board in northern Utah, not to mention, it has some of the lowest prices compared to other resorts in the area. It has a nice, laid back vibe. The staff are friendly and there are hills for all levels. Besides the resort itself, I specifically wrote a review to compliment the rental services. I've boarded for 15+ years but decided I wanted to switch things up and try out skiing for the day so I visited the rental shop to pick up some gear for the day. I expressed that I was a little hesitant because I had not been on skis since I was a kid and they went above and beyond at explaining the basics and getting me the best fitting gear. They were extremely personable and called me by name and as I returned my gear, they remembered exactly who I was, asking me about my experience. I was so impressed by the customer service so between that and the resort itself, this place definitely deserves some love. I honestly have no complaints about Brighton and it is definitely my first choice. read more

Brighton was closed for season, BUT.. they still allow their slopes to be used. HOW cool is that? What this meant is that Me, A girl from Florida, in the Early part of May, got to experience snow at least 3 feet deep - spoiler alert, it's still cold, it's still wet, and even though the air is much warmer, it gets chilly damned fast. We walked around, I picked up loose change and took pictures of the picturesque mountains. This is "God's Country" you know, smething that we don't have in Florida. We're Flatlanders! read more

Family and friends, some newbies, some experienced, had a blast at Brighton in their powdery snow! Snowboarding was excellent and the instructors rocked! Nice staff Buy the twilight to ski from 1-7pm it's the best. Restaurant has so-so food, more like a cafeteria you order your own food and carry it on trays. Nice views of the skiers from the restaurant tho. People watchers like me (i couldn't ski due to a knee surgery) could stand in the slopes and watch/take pics no problem. Out of all three resorts I have visited (park city, solitude, and Brighton) I like this one the most. The resort isn't that big, but one of the perks is that the ticket price isn't that expensive. They have half day pass that start at $65-75 depending on the day you go. Their rentals are like $25 for half day. Their slopes aren't that difficult too. I am beginner snowboarder and I am able to do their blue trails. Plus everyone who ski and board there are pretty nice. If they see you struggling or having trouble they would ask if you need help. Other places they don't really care...they'll just zip pass you. I would totally recommend this place especially if you are a beginner. I also heard that their classes are great too. read more
