Dear Brighton, I know you are killing it this year... so time for some maintenance and much needed upgrades. Perhaps some basic customer service training too? Where to start? Food is terrible and overpriced. Restaurants and bars are so crowded you can't even find a seat anyway. Toilet paper is so thin you can't even get any out of the dispenser. It also feels like sandpaper. The same for the paper towels. Hand dryers have been broken in the ladies room since before the season started. Staff is down right rude and surly. I watched a lifty yell at a poor customer for getting on the lift wrong while they are absolutely no help. Gate at Great Western lift has been inoperable all season and they just throw up some caution tape. The parking is horrendous. Don't bother driving up if you are going to get there after 10 am. Save you money and go elsewhere. read more

Great place to go and snowboard. We were newbies but everyone was extremely nice and helpful. We chose the 3 days classes that turned out to be excellent. The instructors are patient and got us up and running in no time. All of their rental great was in great shape. After a 4 hrs of boarding we tried their restaurant which had good food at a good price. If you want a great place to learn at a snowboard friendly place, go to Brighton! If you don't have snow tires, take the bus or you will get a ticket.....unless you are really unlucky and crash off the road. Plenty of those that should have read the flashing signs. On my first trip here, there was a huuuge line of cars to get in. Sadly, by the time we got there, the parking lot, including the overflow was full. I appreciated how the staff let us unload people. However, things were a little bit unorganized after. The rental shop was okay, but the staff didn't seem to care if my equipment fit or not. They just asked me for my shoe size and height and guessed at the équipement I needed. The rental shop is why they get four stars. After my second ski, my skis got caught but they didn't break apart, so I twisted my knee and had to be sledded down. The medical staff are 10 stars. Most amazing!!--. Mr. Rob, Robyn, miles, and he rest of the staff. Including sugar, the puppy were incredible. Out of an abundance of caution, they really took care of me. They made sure I was okay and then they sent me on my way. read more

I've been meaning to re-review Brighton Resort for some time. My sister came to visit and she hasn't been on skis other than one other time in her life, so I was looking for a good place to learn. I'm so glad I decided on Brighton Resort. I purchased a 2-hour group lesson for her on the first day. Luckily, no one else showed up so she got a 1-hour private! Her instructor was Michael and I was so impressed with him. His philosophy on skiing, his patience, and his ability as a ski instructor were all so impressive. He shared with us that he continues to attend ski clinics and it shows. We were so impressed with him that we plan to book a private the next time she's in town. Such a great experience. This is the only ski resort we've been to in the area but its definitely our favorite so far. Its great for us because we are new to skiing and new to the area. I can see how a more experienced skier might get bored here but for us beginners, it's perfect. Also, the prices for day rentals are great. For one person to ski for the day its $100. This includes everything you need to ski so you don't have to worry about being a beginner and forgetting some random thing like ski lift tickets or a ski helmet. It also includes lessons! The only things you need to bring are ski pants, goggles, and gloves. It took us forever to discover that there was a real restaurant at this resort. Everyone just calls it "the bar" but trust me if you want real food, this is where you want to go. The other option is cafeteria food near the entrance but with prices of an expensive night out. Pro-tip! There are lockers downstairs! They are really small so you definitely want to pack light but there are just certain things you can't ski with! The lessons are definitely worth it. They can be hit or miss though. I had an amazing ski class but my snowboarding class was not so good. The instructor kept just telling us to "feel it out" so I was really struggling when it came time to snowboard on my own. My boyfriend pointed out that I didn't even have my boots buckled correctly! Rooms book up super quick. If you want to ski into your hotel room, book EARLY! Like months early! read more

Despite this being a "local favorite", I really did not like Brighton. The chair lifts were slow, people weren't particularly friendly, the slopes were icy near the top (I can excuse that since I only spent one day here and it's probably the weather more than anything else, but what about snowblowers?), there were a lot of flat areas which is not conducive to snowboarders, signs were really scarce, and there's no wifi. There was one chair lift that actually required walking because it was so far from the other chair lifts, not cool. It also took me forever to get to Brighton by TRAX and UTA free bus, and the bus took forever to get out of the canyon at the end of the day as well. I've never had a really strong opinion about ski resorts before coming here, but this was a really negative strong opinion. read more

I made the journey up to Brighton tonight for some night skiing and was met with so much disappointment. COVID has made anything and everything tough for business and individuals but I'm extremely let down by the resorts management of the situation. Signs are present throughout the resort stating "masks (in line with CDC guidelines) are required along with 6ft of distancing". In reality, most people have the equivalent of a t-shirt over their face and are not wearing a mask that falls in line with the CDC guidelines. There are a few staff walking around the lift areas asking occasionally for people to put their mask back up over their nose and mouth (a lot of people just don't seem to care). That is about the extent of the enforcement. There are no guides to help enforce distance between groups and the staff seemed to ignore that part of the "policy". As a single rider, there was no singles line that allowed me to even try to keep away from the large groups of people not distancing. That alone was a major disappointment. As a single you're forced to join the mob and essentially manage your own space and hope others respect you. If you are hoping for an anxiety free experience, this isn't the place for you. Brighton is a fantastic resort in almost any other situation, but the handling of their own COVID policies is unacceptable. It's loose at best. Which unfortunately does follow the approach most of the state has taken. read more

Overall, a decent ski resort. Went on a random Sat and it was packed, took an extra 40 min to get to the mountain and then there was no parking and had to pay $60 to park. I think ski resorts should really consider capping the amount of tickets they sell and spreading out the time intervals so this doesn't happen.. really makes for a rough start to the morning. I also didn't like that they have some lifts close at 4pm, doesn't seem to be clear so we missed out on many parts of the mountain. Food is pretty good! read more

My favorite resort when it comes to the resort itself. Great snow, great park, it has something for everyone! Most of the staff is chill. The reason for the 3 star is when I was buying my season pass the lady in the ticket office asked me if I wanted the base or unlimited. I asked what the difference was and she seemed annoyed and said, "the price" lol okay obviously. After digging a little deeper she told me the base pass had blackout dates. I asked what the black out dates were and she told me, "Only holidays" I specifically asked her, "so just New Years and Christmas?" And she even left her desk to verify with someone then came back and said, "yes only New Years and Christmas" I figured I wasn't gonna go those days anyway so I saved the extra 100 bucks and got the base pass. I ended up finding out it has over 2 weeks of black out days. From 12/24-1/2 and also even Martin Luther king day and the day before??? This lady ether had no idea what she was talking about or straight up lied to me. read more

Amazing terrain, killer snow, and fair prices. Likes: I've been riding at Brighton for as long as I can remember. Because they are located at the very top of the Canyon it seems like the clouds and storms get stuck on the peaks up there and just dump snow like crazy. So you can always count on a decent base and continuous new snow throughout the season. I find the employees to be super nice. I've been teaching my daughter (4 years old) to snowboard there lately and Sue, at the ticket counter, always greets her with a huge smile and seems excited to see her. The lodge at the bottom of the mountain isn't anything fancy but provides a nice place to grab some food and relax. But the best part about Brighton is the amazing terrain. They have so many runs of different difficulty that it seems like there's something for everyone on the mountain. And it's only 30 minutes from Salt Lake! Dislikes: they have a policy that they don't allow any outside food in the lodge which I think is pretty ridiculous considering how much tickets cost already. There are a lot of working families out there who can probably barely afford to bring their family up for the day, let alone pay nine dollars per person for a hamburger. I'm sure this discourages some families from coming. read more

The worst service I have ever encountered at a ski resort. Employees were not only incompetent, but pretty unfriendly as well. They seemed more concerned about their next bong hit than their next customer.... Admittedly, I came on a busy day- but this place has supposedly been open since 1936- this can't be their first time at the holiday rodeo? The parking lot attendants were completely worthless, I asked two of them if there was overflow parking or shuttles or where there might be some parking- one of them barely answered me, neither had any idea. I tried to use a discount ticket, but they had no clue what was going on- I had to stand in three lines before they finally got me to the right place. The lift lines were atrocious, and the employees made no attempt to manage them- people were crowding into the "lines" from all sides, and they don't even bother having a singles line. Just to add insult to injury, the food was absolutely terrible- they were out of my first two choices (determined after waiting in yet another long line), so I settled on the pizza. Now, I realize one expects mediocre, overpriced grub at ski resorts, but mediocre was far from where they got- even a gas station would be embarrassed to sell pizza that gross. Will never ski here again- there's so many better resorts in Utah, don't waste your time on this one. read more

Brighton is a local's mountain with some of the most pristine and enjoyable runs. Everyone we met, from locals to staff, were extremely kind and helpful. The runs are meant for beginners to intermediates and a great place to learn. Not as many runs as PC, obviously, but you choose Brighton for less crowds and serenity. Renting is simple and can be used at other mountains and returned. Parking is bad if you don't get there early. They offer online discounts if you book early. Would definitely recommend a visit. read more

I like to pretend that I snowboard. I've got all the right props: snowboard, bindings, boots, pants, jacket, thermals, goggles, gloves, etc. But the truth is after two years of occasional snowboard trips into the local mountains of Southern California, I'm only slightly better than terrible at snowboarding. Would it even be worth it for me to take a trip all the way to Salt Lake City to hit the resorts in the Wasatch mountains? YES. Oh Utah, you've shown me what real snow is like. Nothing like attempting a steep incline, falling, then sliding down on your butt 15 feet because your board can't dig into the powder to stop your momentum :) Brighton is 5 minutes away from Solitude and much bigger. And if you ask me, Brighton has a wider variety of easy / intermediate / expert trails. Enough to keep you busy the entire day and come back the next. We came up on the Monday and Tuesday before President's Day weekend and found the park relatively empty. No wait to get on any lifts and nothing but peace and quiet on your run down the mountain. What I *really* like about Brighton is that one of the lifts (Snake Creek Express) will take you to the top of one of the peaks and there's a green circle trail for beginners to take down. Yay! I do appreciate a lift that will take you that high up, but still let n00bs like me find my way down the mountain. The Milly Express on the other side of the park also goes pretty high and has a green circle trail as well, but didn't get to go on that one. Beware the icy parking lot. I'm not talking patches of ice...I'm talking about totally iced parking lot. Pretty normal to see people fall on the mountain, another to see people fall and eat it in the parking lot. Best mountain experience I've ever had. Went to Brighton for the night snowboarding on a Saturday. Enjoyed a delicious Irish coffee at the A-frame, slope side bar before! Mountain was ~70% boarders which was just what I was looking for! Night skiing was 4-9, and very cold but for $40 it really can't be beat to get quick, good runs in. It dumped 26 inches in the previous 2 days, got some awesome powder, just deep enough to where everything was nice and soft, but not so thick that I had to work really hard to get out of. The blue runs were just the right steepness where i could just relax and bomb it down the slopes, which was nice since it was day 3 and my legs were Jello. This is my kind of ski resort, less people, shorter lines, which means I get more runs in and the snow doesn't get all jacked up by lunch time. I like to stay away from the bigger more popular resorts (Park City) and hit up these places. There was also a guy taking photos, you could look them up online when you get home.. Ski instructors were obnoxious and rude to kids and customers; and most recently they targeted, and were selective with who they told to put masks on. Hypocritically, lift operators and employees on their group breaks were not wearing their masks. This ski resort felt like it was operating under Marshall Law. I would consider Brighton to be best resort for your buck. Other resorts cost $110+ for a day pass while Brighton is only $75 ($67 for a reload on your pass). The mountain isn't super packed. The snow is really nice in comparison to Sundance which isn't as nice. They have lots of kickers park and tree runs. I mostly come here on Wednesday nights for the arctic circle 2 for 1 which is $40 for 2. Amazing deal in my opinion. Hands down best night skiing in Utah. 2 teams running with a good selections of runs and park. If you are ever hungry, stop on over at Millys and get the chili cheese fries. They are a heart attack on a plate but oh so good. read more

I really think this is one of the best places for the money. The variety in terrain is excellent. You can truly take your family with various skill levels and have a great time here. Whenever we come to Utah to ride, we come here first to do two things: get our legs ready for the week and to take lessons from their school. It's really the best deal in the Cottonwood Canyon. The instructors are solid and the price for the lessons are a steal. The couple of negatives are getting over to Milly's basin. It's a haul because you have to schlep across a long, flat run to get there. The other negative (depending on your desire for steepness) is that it's not as steep as some other nearby resorts. But this place is always fun for my family and me. And we always come back. read more

Take it from me, Brighton is probably THE BEST place to learn to snowboard! Lessons during the month of January when purchased online are $45. This is seriously a steal! The fee includes a 2 hour lesson (based on your skill level), rental equipment, and a lift ticket for two of the basic lifts (Explorer and Majestic). This was my second season snowboarding, and let's just say last year after my first day, I went straight to Dicks to buy butt pads to soften the blow on what felt like a broken tailbone! Ouch. This year I purchased the class online, and we got up to the mountain around 10:00 am. Side note: during snowy conditions, the canyon access road becomes very dangerous and only 4x4 vehicles or those with chains are allowed up to the summit. A nice way to avoid the hassle of driving is doing a park and ride! Located at the base of the canyon, the bus (UTA - Utah transit) picks you up and drops you off at either Solitude or Brighton. The cost is 4.50 each way per passenger. Anyway, back to my bruised bottom. Classes are held at 10:15 and 1:15, and run for about two hours. This year I was a little hesitant to jump right into class after arriving and wanted to get my bearings before going off with the instructor. We snowboarded for about two hours then went up to the cafe for a quick bite before my class. Needless to say this is the only place that serves food here, and the patrons coming off of the slopes are HUNGRY! The line is cafeteria style with choices like chili, fries, hot dogs, soup, and even salad. We opted for the cheese fries and a large Coke.....set us back $15!!!! Wth?! A large drink was $6! I give Brighton a four star because of their ridiculous food prices in the cafe. After lunch I went to my class and met my instructor Matt. He was really nice and very patient. There were only two of us in the class, which made the lesson feel very individual. I recommend going on a weekday in January to take advantage of the great deal for class/rental/lift ticket and the empty slopes! We will definitely be back again, maybe next year I won't need the butt pads! read more

I had a blast snowboarding here with my friends last week. I'm from California so of course I was anticipating the Utah snow to be so much better. And, in fact, it was. It hadn't stormed in few days but it was surprisingly still full of powder. The runs are really long and there are several routes to choose from on each run. There is a bar at the bottom which we loved. We stopped in to rest for a few towards the end of the evening and had some drinks. We also shared the nachos which were super good. We went night boarding which was only 30 bucks. We bought our passes at ski and see so these were discounted. It's regular 36 bucks if you buy your tix up there. Night boarding is from 4-9pm. More than enough time and it wasn't packed at all. Mondays are half off twilight prices with a maverik card so you only pay 34 for all day 12:30-9pm! read more

Awesome resort for snowboarders!!! For skiers too of course. The runs are wide and there is no way you can get lost. It all merged and end up at the same place, so much safer and easy for kids. We had a horrible day at the non groomed runs at Snowbird yesterday, so having this awesome resort the next day was a fresh of breath air and changed our whole view of boarding in Utah. This is definitely for all types of level. The resort also has a nice long run for those that likes to do tricks and etc. We really really enjoy this resort a lot and can't wait to come back! We are from Southern California but willing to come back annually when possible. read more

These guys are my boys for life!!! Ive only been here once.. but lemme explain. Ive never snowboarded before. I came here from LA to experience the best snow in the world. Theres no better place to snowboard than Utah!! The lift tickets from 4pm are only 25 bucks. Sooo cheap!! I rented a board. Bought snowpants and gloves and surprisingly, i was a natural. I meam, i did fall like 50 times but i think my balance is pretty good. Lol Anyways, back to the reason i called them my boys for life: I had my GoPro attached to my helmet. During one of the countless falls i experienced, the GoPro must have fallen down somehere in the mountain. I was only there for 1 day. I called the next day to see if they had it. They said someone turned it in. I was already checking my wallet to see how i could fly back there to pick it up... and the said they would mail it!! FREE OF CHARGE. Back to LA. THATS SOOO NICE.. Used to be a much nicer place to ski. Overcrowding and increasingly poor quality skiers makes this a riskier and riskier place to ski and board. Cannot just point the finger at increasing popularity of the sport, it is also a failure of the management to develop ways to mitigate the crowds. The lower mountain is probably the worst, with people splayed everywhere and no respect for the people moving down the hill. On the bunny slope the wait can be 20 minutes in line because of the excessive number of ski schools that run concurrently, clogging up the lifts. Here's a suggestion: if you're functionally not going to let paying skiers on the lift because of the hordes of ski schools, why not just close the lift during set time periods for your ski school? I've been skiing the area for nearly a decade, and until the last 2 years was a big fan of Brighton - it was my go-to place to ski. But Brighton is not what it used to be - a small, easy, community feeling ski hill. It also isn't the big exciting, fancy mountain of its competitors. It hasn't updated it's operating flow, it's lifts, it's facilities, it's policies or training of its staff to match the influx of new people, and it certainly hasn't said "no" to all the money flying at it with the surge of interest in skiing. It's time for management to start thinking about thoughtfully defining Brighton's identity before it becomes the junk toss-away hill of the region. read more

Do not come to Brighton. The parking debacle is insane! You never know when you can get a parking pass and the people that work at HONK(the parking vendor) and at the resort are clueless. We came into town and bought lift tickets to go on a Friday because our flight leaves Saturday. We tried a week before on a Sunday to get a parking pass. We were able to get to the check out page and their website crapped out and showed us an error. When we went back to get a pass LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER, there were NONE available. I tried to reach out to HONK and to Brighton, both parties are clueless and just said that we needed to try again on a later date. Last year we didn't have an issue going to Brighton other than the food at the restaurant at the ski lift was horrible and the place was dirty. Now we can't get a refund for our lift tickets. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO BRIGHTON! You are much better off going to Solitude or Snowbird where you're not stressed out about getting a parking pass. read more

This is our second time here. A huge shout out for Kaitlin in rental. She was so very accommodating and kind. As for the the rest I guess the locals could appreciate this place but The lack of trail signs and posted maps make it difficult to maneuver safely. I don't understand why Milly lift is so far away that you have to walk through the parking lot to get there. The lodge is old but clean and hard to get around. They need steps to get to the lodge from the rental building. Walking up a steep hill is not user friendly. Pizza was good but a $35 pizza is a bit much. I was surprised there was no fireplace in the common areas to warm up. I guess at $120 a day for lift tickets I would expect more. read more

Great powder compared to California resorts, but customer service is crap. People seem to be a little snobby there. However, the trails are great and they have screw drivers to adjust your bindings outside of the food place. The price for daily entry is fairly cheap compared to California price. In addition, they have night lights. Meaning, there are night-time runs. This is a big plus for me despite lousy customer service. read more
