I contacted Brightview via Thumbtack after a botched job with another painter. The other painter was a total joke; lines as squiggly as drunk, paint smears and drops all over the place bc he didn't bother using dropcloths, damage to my stair handrail, and paint bleeding under areas he taped. To add insult to injury, he didn't bother showing up the next day or respond to calls/texts. On the 3rd day, he was late 2.5hrs after the agreed upon time. I was nice and gave him an ultimatum: fix everything or walk. He walked. I began searching for another painter and got 2 more bids. The first was outrageous (more than double the price) and then there was Juan from Brightview who worked out a great deal with me and offered to fix all the mistakes of the previous joker. He listened to my gripes as I showed him the shoddy workmanship and what I expect. He understood the assignment and to my amazement he offered to bring a crew of guys the next day (Saturday) to get everything done in 1 day! This was no easy task as I have 20-ft ceilings, a stairway, many windows, and have a couple accent walls. As promised the guys all showed up the next morning and the entire crew went right to work! Everyone knew their role and worked diligently to mask everything off, throw plastic sheets on everything, unroll resin paper on the floors and add drop clothes on any other exposed flooring. They were true professional painters in that they were able to freehand paint my textured walls to produce sharp edges. The clown painter before gave me an excuse that textured walls cannot have sharp edges. This was about the stupidest thing I've heard. If you hear this, stop, drop, and roll the guy out the door before the paint dries. At the end of the day, Brightview made sure I was happy with the results and asked me to walk all the rooms to make sure I was satisfied with the work and point out any imperfections so they can touch anything up before they leave. They also cleaned up all the mess they made and helped to move back everything that was touched. All the guys are Brightview were polite, talented, diligent, and very skilled. In the end, he asked for $300 deposit for supplies, which I sent to him over apple Cash. After that, he said he would come back for multiple days, but no one called and no showed. Finally, another painter called and said Juan was going to go the job to him. That painter Mario was great and informed that Juan never bought supplies and is actually out of business and was confused about how I found him. The work is just ok. I have chips on cabinets and they have not corrected the issue. I would not recommend for this reason.

It seems like they don't exist. My house has blotches and paint is peeling off. I did this work about a year ago and tried to get them to fix it about 6 months into it and never returned my call. I would never hire them again. read more

We finally took the plunge and had our house exterior painted! We received four quotes from different painting companies over the course of two months, but initially picked BrightView because Juan made us feel as though he would truly care about our house project. My advice is don't pay this company until you have viewed your house in all kinds of light. Our exterior house was painted white on a sunny day. It wasn't until a couple weeks later, when it was not Sunny that I noticed touchups needed around the windows. I phoned and texted repeatedly. Finally, I reached Juan. He said he would send someone out on Friday. No one came out on Friday, nor did they follow up. I was told, before they started the work, that "they'd stand behind their work". They absolutely did not. All that was good was cancelled out by their lack of responsiveness and their failure to make sure their customer was satisfied with the end product. read more

Sought a painter for the exterior of my home in the San Jose Evergreen neighborhood. Doing a Yelp search BrightView was one of the companies I sought a quote from. Juan picked up my call promptly and set a appointment to come out to my home. We walked through the job. Juan was similar to other painters picking up items needing addressing (flashing, exposed wood, etc. ). However , two things caught my attention and differentiated him. First was his genuine enthusiasm for the work. He must have given hundreds of quotes by now but there was a way he just invested himself in assessing the work as if it were his own home. The man just seems to love paint and painting. He was just so detailed. Second was the pricing and options provided. I did my research after and BrightView provides some of the best paint options out there at the most competitive prices. Their top of the line paint was the middle tier of the closest competitor and half of the most expensive competitor. After selecting Juan and BrightView, to my surprise and joy, they could start the job two weeks earlier than the nearest competitor. They were efficient. A power wash crew prepped the surface Friday. Painting started Monday on time and was completed by Thursday. The work crew knew their job, were friendly, accommodating and precise. They engaged with me throughout the job on trim choices and styles ( which I changed midway through) and even painted my mailbox post. I rented my condo for two years before purchasing it a couple months ago. I hated the two tone yellows and gray walls throughout and the brown wood kitchen cabinets so decided it all had to go immediately! I got five quotes, ranging from suspiciously cheap to outrageously expensive. Juan and two others came in the same ballpark. I chose Juanfor two reasons: I believe in supporting minority owned businesses and he was sweet to my dog (a boxer puppy who cannot fathom a reason anyone would come over other than to play with her), which made me feel more comfortable having him in my home. Juan was super responsive to phone calls, text messages, and emails. He blew me away when I called to ask what I needed to do in the kitchen to prepare it and he replied (paraphrasing), "don't worry about that, we can move things as needed, my goal is to make this a smooth process for you." He even told me not to worry about forcing the TV mount off the wall, that he would take care of it. When I saw the finished project, I was thrilled! Everything looked so good!! The walls were perfect and the kitchen, where I'd had the cabinets painted white, looked incredible. It was a huge face lift. Plus, my home was clean. I don't know what I expected, but to have everything in place, not covered in dust or paint seemed like a small miracle.
