In the end, he claimed he was giving me a better deal, but he increased my patio's measurements so he could charge me more. I requested a written agreement, but instead he showed up at my place with workers and materials and started working, even demolishing my fire pit, despite me clearly telling him that the project could not start without everything written and accepted by both sides. They continued working anyway, which made it very difficult for me to retract. As the project went on, he kept changing the rules. Everything he had promised vanished, and instead of enjoying my patio transformation, it became a horrible, daily fight. In the end, I received a mediocre job at best. They left all the debris behind because, according to him, "it belongs to me." They killed the grass in my front yard by leaving cement, debris, heavy bricks, and other materials on it for three days--not to mention the condition they left my driveway in. He even said that he "is not responsible for cleaning my house." He repeatedly claimed that he made no profit from this job and constantly made me feel like he was doing me a favor or giving the work to me for free. The way he treats his employees is horrible. They are the ones doing the hard work, yet he does not value them as they deserve. I am still waiting for him to fix my patio, and I will be posting updates.
