I sought this place out because it has a number of nice hiking trails. There's even a look trail that will let you go close to five miles without having to turn back. While it looks like the trail dead ends at a fence, if you continue climbing the hill you'll see that the trail continues on to the left about halfway up. Tip: The loop trail is actually a figure eight; not only that but the scenery is very pleasant; there's even cliffs and a small cave :-) The trails here go through an Austin City Park, but the land is actually owned by an HOA so please be respectful and take your trash and dog poop out with you leave.

As a private park it is very clean and well looked after with the paths looking fresh and the overall aesthetic of the park looking much more groomed than many other trails in Austin. The trail itself is pretty easy to walk through and there are no difficult areas to get by. Lining the trail are different areas to do workouts which is nice to see and there are also sporting areas at the community center as well. The foliage looked great and the rest of the open areas seemed well put together. This is definitely a fantastic park to walk through with family, friends, or dogs if you're in the area.

First of all, it appears the playground has been redone. There are photos here from a few years ago -- looks completely different now. In most cases, these are clear upgrades but I'm not so sure here. The old playground looks pretty nice -- with more equipment for younger toddlers. Why they chose to redo it is a mystery. The current playground equipment is decent with some nice climbing options. It's a little awkward for grown-ups to access (when accompanying really small toddlers who can fall off) since the steps can only be reached via tunnel. So if your young toddler climbs up, you either have to go through the tunnel or climb up some of the ladders. Not a huge deal although if you're an elderly caretaker, take note. The playground does have two small canopies that offer partial shade. One of the biggest deficiencies is the swings. Only two belt swings for older kids. No bucket swings for younger toddlers or babies. Oddly, the pics of the old playground show baby swings -- why did they get rid of them? Weird. There's quite a bit of space like I previously mentioned but I'm not sure if it's being utilized well. There's a small gazebo but it seems a bit pointless. There's nothing in it (no seating) so it looks like a bus stop. I wish they made it into more of a pavilion with benches (there's space). Ultimately, a decent park especially since Georgetown is a bit lacking in playgrounds (when compared to Round Rock especially).

Lots of shady well manicured oak trees towards the rear of the property, which makes it a perfect picnic spot. There's also a few picnic tables and one grill, including one covered table on the property. There's also two play scapes, swings and a large pond with its wildlife. The paved path winds around the perimeter of the park and pond, but does not link up to any other trails. Definitely a great place to get your morning walk in while the kids play on the equipment. Lack of use appears to result in lack of maintenance: active wasp nest (dad got stung), lots of animal poop, and an abandoned tree branch. If visiting, inspect facility carefully prior to play. This park has a decent playscape with canopy cover. It's pretty simple -- a couple climbing opportunities, a few slides, and a tunnel. However, there are two sections -- one for older kids and one for younger toddlers (2-year-olds). Always nice when they acknowledge the little ones. My biggest gripe about this park is that it's a secret. It's not visible from the street at all and completely encapsulated by housing. There are no signs notifying you of a nearby park. The address took us to a cul-de-sac which was initially confusing until we saw a paved path between homes. You take the path and you eventually find the park. I like parks that are in residential areas (no one wants cars whizzing past while kids play) but this is a bit much. I don't know the history of this park and whether it was unfortunately encased in a new development or something. But as a result, I feel like no one comes here. First of all, you have to read or hear about this park. Considering that there's a bit of a trek to get to the park and that your car isn't visible from the park -- that's disincentive. Maybe if the playscape was incredible then it'd be worthwhile. But it's pretty simple like I mentioned before. Personally, I can only envision visiting this park if I lived within walking distance and it was a matter of convenience. Anyway, due to its lack of use, it seems like the park was a bit run down. I found multiple problems while visiting. The first and most concerning was a completed paper wasp nest (with wasps circling around). It was under the younger toddler playscape so we moved both kids to the older kid one. We all climbed through the tunnel and when my husband followed us -- he got stung by a wasp. We immediately left and I notified the city. Just glad my kids weren't stung. There was also a lot of poop under the playscape -- saw like 3 separate piles. I don't know who is pooping under there (wild animal or negligent dog ownership or worse). Finally, there was a huge fallen tree branch (with lots of sharp branches) on the playground. It seemed like someone dragged it there (maybe hoping it would be removed by the city?). Ultimately, this park just feels a bit doomed due to its location.

It is extremely far away from the street. There is also no parking lot so you will have to park in the dirt along Madrid Dr in order to not have your car hit - especially with the heavy traffic on that street during morning commutes, afternoon school pickup (McCoy Elementary is nearby), and evening work rush. There is also no bathroom, water fountain, or bbq grill. Anyway, at a minimum there should be a sign showing that it's a park/playground. Hopefully this review will help others so we can get some kids here!

It has a full playground with swings, a tennis court, swimming pool, (I think you need passes for the pool and tennis court), volleyball court, basketball court, picnic tables, and even a paved walkway that wraps around the park. There is plenty of open grassy space to run around, throw a frisbee. It's also dog-friendly with poop bags and a drinking fountain. The parking lot is a decent size although I could see it getting filled up very quickly for an event. Speaking of, this is also where they hosted this past "Hairy Man festival."

It is located in a residential neighborhood on Rustic Rock Drive (Balcones Woods subdivision). The park feels pleasantly secluded while still being easy to access. Please note that Tanglewood Park and Austin Wellness & Rehabilitation Center have the exact same address and are on opposites sides of the street on Rustic Rock. Go figure... The park offers a nice portfolio of amenities, including a children's playgrounds, open green space, and courts for basketball and volleyball. Strolling through the park, you can see how it would be perfect for families spending time in the park and for residents getting some fresh air or leisurely exercise. The paved walking paths made it easy for us to stroll through the park. This nicely paved walking path takes you through the wooded area and makes it very walkable. There are both paved and unpaved paths, making it trail friendly for the novice to the more experienced hikers. The trails also connect to the larger Walnut Creek system, so it's possible to extend your walk, hike or bike ride. Within the park you will find sports activities - volleyball, paddle tennis, swimming, etc. Many park dwellers were fully engaged in sports activities. In addition, there is a children's playground for the littles in your life. There are also a covered areas for gatherings and social interaction. One area for improvement would be the maintenance of the park. Many grassy areas appeared to be overgrown and not cut for some time. With that said, it did not appear to hinder activities as the park was fully packed.
