Brightwing installed our Hardie plank siding a few years ago. I ordered the siding with the factory finish and it was installed using the manufacturer's recommended touch-up paint for any exposed nails or defects. After a time, the touch-up paint faded to a different color than the siding. When I contacted Fran, he went to the manufacturer to find a resolution. Unfortunately, the manufacturer didn't stand behind their own procedure. Fran could have walked away and left me to deal with this issue but he didn't. He went out of his way to make certain it was fixed. My house now looks like new again. Also, my compliments to Hector on a great job. read more

We used Brightwing to replace our siding and windows in the summer of 2019. Brightwing stripped off old vinyl siding and then our original wood siding underneath, added insulation, etc. and topped it with Hardie siding. They also replaced all 22 windows during the process. It was a good experience working with Fran on the proposal and throughout the project, and we felt he was honest and cared about the work. Hector, who led the crew onsite during the project, was also great to work with in regards to communication and attention to detail. The job was not without its challenges, mainly due to our house being from 1950 and not knowing how the window spacing would be until demo time. Brightwing ended up having to add new interior filler trim and replacing the window sill on every window in our house, so the new windows would fit and look good with our existing trim. Additionally, Migard made an error sizing one of our windows and we had to wait weeks to get a new one which delayed the project. For these reasons, the job took a lot longer than originally expected, but Fran and Hector kept us in the loop, explaining the challenges and options. We are very happy with the final product and are glad we trusted Brightwing to guide us through the process. read more

Fran from Brightwing gave us a competitive quote to replace the aging wood siding on our home with Hardie Plank siding. I chose his quote from 2 other competing quotes. I opted to go with OSB sheathing under the Hardie plank. I asked Brightwing to quote due to his ratings on Yelp, and on the James Hardie web site (http://contractors.jameshardie.com/). When it came time to do the work, The team was very professional and diligent. The team leader, Manuel, was very polite and checked in with me each day before starting work, and at the end of each day. Manuel made sure I knew what was planned, and when the work would be stopping for the day. Each day when the crew left, the house was protected against any potential rain and the work area was clean and neat. When the siding crew finished, the painting crew took over. The crew leader was also polite, knowledgeable and informative. My wife spent some time discussing the paint job with him and his input improved the final results. Brightwing just completed my exterior home remodel and I am 1000% pleased! They installed all new windows, replaced the original 1984 siding with Hardie plank & trim, and painted everything. They also replaced some gutters. I got quotes from 4 big name companies in Austin, all of whom have an alliance with James Hardie. They all came in at around the same cost but I awarded the work to Fran based on his sincerity and trustworthiness. Also, he offered up a design idea which was already what I was going to ask for so right then I knew that he was the right choice. Hector and his crew are A-MAZING!! They showed up before 8am every day and worked until at least 5, sometimes 6 or 7pm. They are efficient, they are perfectionists (they follow James Hardie best practices), they cleaned up every day after they were done, and they are THE NICEST group of guys! We have one of those "Masonite" houses. Everyplace the paint or surface is breached (think squirrels) the Masonite sucks up the water like a sponge. Eventually, it will flake off and blow away during a storm or critter invasion. My husband and I knew we had to get rid of this stuff and replace it with cement fiberboard. It seemed appropriate to replace the windows at the same. We have a lot of windows and knew this upgrade would save on energy consumption, plus add to the comfort of our home. We did a lot of research and a lot of shopping. We got quotes from 3 or 4 companies. Each company was close in price and had very good customer rating reviews. My husband did even more research and asked the reps of each company several questions. He felt like Fran (with Brightwing) most closely followed the recommendations from Hardie Plank. Also, we really wanted the OSB board under the siding and could not see doing this project without it. I did the research on windows. After reading reviews on replacement window forums I became interested in the Don Young windows. I also have a relative who installed this brand of window almost ten years ago and they still look great. Fran had no problem with our request. We got a quote for the windows and proceeded to schedule the work to begin as soon as weather permitted. Each day Manuel and his crew were parked outside ready to go to work. They worked very hard in miserable weather. We had neighbors checking in on the work and we were all impressed with their speed and accuracy. I think we had the windows/siding installed and the whole house painted in 10 days with periodic bouts of rain. The painting crew was also very, very good. I am pretty picky about details and have done a fair amount of painting myself over the years and I was VERY pleased with their work. In preparing to sell our home of 23 years, we decided to upgrade the exterior siding to Hardieplank. After obtaining quotes from three different contractors, we selected Austin Hardi-Pros (now Brightwing) and did not regret this decision. Fran Carter (the owner) was extremely patient with us as we changed the scope of the proposed project. Fran gave us various options and did not push us toward the more expensive options. In fact, he suggested repairing the broken sliding glass door locks and window locks. The $140 repair cost was far cheaper than replacing the windows and sliding glass doors would have been. The start of our project was delayed about one week due to rain in late May that slowed down a large project in front of ours. Fran provided us with updates about when his crew would start on our house. When the crew began, they worked fairly quickly, and the house looked great when they finished. The only negative was that the crew trampled some recently-planted ivy in front of our house, even though we'd cordoned the area off. In hindsight, we probably should have pointed it out to the crew rather than assuming they'd understand why the area was roped off. read more

When loved ones' home needed major siding work, I was hesitant to reach out to anyone because the homeowner had done the all original construction work and we didn't want any mistakes or oversights. Wanting something durable we selected Hardie Plank, and started looking for bids. Yelp and other sources led us to Brightwing. When we selected the style and extent of the install (full siding, soffets and fascia) he did a thorough estimate. The price was reasonable, and for a slight additional fee they included replacing our front and back doors, which we purchased and provided. I was very pleased with the work. I had gotten other bids and put it off for a long time but they were very much in line with the other bids. Depending on other jobs it may take awhile for them to get to you, I had to wait about a month and even though they initially said it may take a week, it actually took 2 weeks, but I appreciate that they were not rushed and took their time and did a really great job. I know they have at least 2 different crews that work, meaning 2 or more projects at the same time. The Jollyville address is really just a small office that may not be occupied all the time, but Fran will come to the house and go over everything with you. There are usually 3 payments expected: When contract is signed, before painting has started and at the end. Brightwing replaced siding and repainted the exterior of our home in June 2020. The results have been excellent, and I would recommend them to neighbors. I appreciated that Fran discussed the pros and cons of Hardie products and construction methods. We chose trim and siding to be butted instead of overlapped. Other companies did not offer this choice. Brightwing added a metal splash guard to protect the bottom of the siding nearest the ground. They addressed my concerns about insect and rodent ingress at building corners. They adhered to Hardie installation requirements. They carry worker's compensation insurance for their contractors. Brightwing has just completed replacing hail damaged vinyl siding with Hardie planking on the entire west side of my home in Lakeway. The excellent, detail oriented crew of 4 men had to remove 3 layers of previous siding; wood and the vinyl. Unfortunately, there was quite severe water damage to my chimney interior wood studs. They spent hours repairing/replacing those supporting framing studs. It was additional time and materials, but I effectively have a brand new chimney! I have never had craftsmen on any job, do a PEFECT job--they did! They made sure to clean up around the house each evening when they were finished for the day. Each of them was an extremely polite, and courteous gentleman. Fran Carter is a businessman of the highest order. Absolute integrity, honesty, intelligence and kindness. Austin Hardi Pros just finished re-doing the siding on our house and we have been very pleased with the entire process. Fran came out and did the bid, which was about the same price as a couple other competitors. We decided to go with him because he had done work in our neighborhood and I couldnt find a single bad review about their company online. Fran was very involved and communicative throughout, making sure that we knew how things were going and what we needed to do. His crew did a great job, led by Mario, and worked very hard on the project. Each evening, when they finished, they would always tidy up the yard and sweep the patio and driveway where they were working. Fran would either text or email me every day and generally stopped by in person several times a week to make sure everything was going ok. HE always made sure to make us aware of any issues and took care of them ASAP. For instance, one day while I was at work, one of the workers somehow accidentally cracked one of our windows. Fran immediately texted me and told me they would take care of it with the glass company. the glass guy came out a couple days later and replaced it and Fran took care of everything. i understand that those mistakes can happen and it made me feel very confident that they took care of it no questions asked. At the end of the job, we did a walk-through with Fran to spot any last little things that needed to be done. Fran was pickier about his crews work than I was and spotting things I never would have noticed. I was impressed that he would go out of his way to make sure it was all done perfectly. I used Brightwing Custom Crafted Exteriors back when they were known as Austin Hardi-Pro. I was extremely satisfied with the work they did, our house still looks brand new from the outside. The other week, I had a question regarding my siding, which was installed 3 years ago. During an inspection by my exterminator, the exterminator told me that there was a gap between the siding and the foundation. This was not due to any fault of Austin Hardi-Pro. I live in an older home, and when the original siding on the home was installed, it also had the same issue. I wrote Fran an email and he responded the very next day. Not only did he write back immediately, he came down to my house to examine the concern even though 3 years had passed since I had the work done. He assured me that my siding was installed perfectly, but offered to pin the siding to the sill plate free of charge if I was concerned about the gap. I decided against having it pinned down for aesthetic reasons, and ended up stuffing the gap with copper mesh. It feels great to hire a contractor who takes pride in the quality of work they do, and is responsive to questions long after you've paid them.
