She had the space set up in a cozy manner with lamps and gentle music playing. Throughout each step she was communicative, careful, and attentive. Then, Dr. Patel arrived and continued to provide the same level of compassion and attentiveness. I requested no numbing for a tooth being pulled - he pulled the majority of the tooth (the remainder of which later was flicked out by another dentist who didn't think I needed numbing at all), and proceeded to be emotionally/verbally abusive trying to force me into an injection. I will never return to this office, and I certainly would never dream of bringing my children here. If you're looking for a kind and decent dentist, steer clear of this office.

As soon as Emily answered the phone at Asheville dental , I knew my luck was changing . She was so sweet and sympathetic. She made sure to explain everything to me including costs, since my insurance is no good in North Carolina and she got me in for an appointment in the afternoon. They sent me a text with all the information and a link to my paperwork so I could fill everything out before I arrived. I made sure to get there early and the offices are warm and welcoming. I gave my name in the front and they checked me in. I was called back right at my appointment time. I explained my situation and Makayla was patient and understanding. She checked my teeth and took an x-ray and made sure to verify the cost with me. Dr. Powell came in to examine me and he was absolutely wonderful. I am leaving this review about Asheville Dental located at 10C Yorkshire St. 28803. Never in my life have I been cheated, tricked, lied to and abused like this from any professional or business. I am 74yr old senior citizen and was taken advantage of by the dentist Grant Dasher and Asheville Dental. I admit my wits aren't as alert as they once were but these people should be ashamed and their office investigated by the Health Dept. I received a certified letter telling me the work was completed and I was dismissed from Asheville Dental and should find another dentist for all future treatments. This is because they convinced me to pay the total amount even before the work was 25% (twenty-five percent) completed. I was lied to when I asked if he could give me straight white teeth and he said yes. A 3rd year dental student could do this but i received mostly straight and mostly white teeth and also how long this treatment would take. Dasher told me it will take approximately 12 to 14 weeks. It took 31 (thirty-one) weeks. Imagine being unable to eat without pain for 31 weeks. So unnecessary! Dasher told me he would refund the cost of 2 (two) crowns because he saw two of my teeth would not support crowns. I was reimbursed for 1 (one) crown and cheated out of the second. He tried to convince me he had given me $4000.00 (four-thousand dollars) worth of service for free. NONSENSE/RIDICULOUS! He never mentioned this until I requested my refund for the second crown. They refused to return my money. Another cheat and another lie! There is more I could say but my point has been made to let the public know to stay away from Asheville Dental. They are the most dishonest and untrustworthy office I have ever been in. One may ask why I stayed at Asheville Dental after being treated with such obvious disrespect and put through so much unnecessary pain and discomfort? As i mentioned before they had my money, paid in full. Sometime along week 22 (twenty-two) Dasher offered me a refund when I told him I had lost all trust and confidence in him and his work. His refund was a few pennies on the dollar. I told Grant Dasher to his face while looking into his eyes that he had "No Honor" he also has No Morals or Principles. In my opinion the biggest cheater and liar I've ever known. This explains why I had noticed there never seemed to be any patients in their lobby. Many visits I was the only person when I arrived and no one there when I left. As I was leaving their office for the last time I heard them laughing. Dasher and his small staff are a disgrace to the dental profession. I have no proof other than visual (what I observed) that on occasion he used instruments that were not sanitized. The bags that are used to sanitize were opened and wrinkly on other occasions there were no bags and wore no gloves at all. This could be "Very Dangerous." I get no satisfaction in leaving such a negative yet 100% truthful review. In my opinion they are not honest people and the public needs to know! The public should know and be made aware! Three months before my first appointment I asked them to check my insurance coverage because it's out of state. They refused and said that they would do that a month before the appointment ... if I reminded them. I did remind them at the one-month mark, and they could not navigate my insurance company's authorization process. My previous dentist had been doing it fine for four years so it's squarely a problem at Embark Dental. Three days before the appointment they asked me to send pictures of my insurance card, which I did. But it wasn't until the morning of the appointment that they texted me to say that they (mistakenly) thought my insurance only covered medical. That's an odd assumption considering that my insurance company had been paying my dental bills for the previous four years. When I arrived at their office, they still had not managed the simple navigation of a Blue Shield insurance agency. They wanted me to give them a credit card. They were basically saying that since they were so incompetent that they could not determine that I was actually covered for dental, they wanted to be able to tag my credit card to cover their inabilities. Then they wanted to digitize my driver's license. I am a former designated security officer for the Air Force, I have spent my whole life in high tech, and I know that digitized IDs are the new form of ID theft. When I declined to let them digitize my driver's license, they said that would be a requirement. I left. Save yourself the problem of leaving their office by not going there to begin with. You'll also save yourself a ton of unnecessary aggravation.

I can only say great things about Biltmore Avenue Family Dentistry after some unusual experiences…read more I was at patient there for several years and I have relatively good teeth and other than needing regular tartar removal, my relationship was positive but routine before Hurricane Helene. I have been diagnosed with a progressive medical condition and decided to leave the area following the hurricane and was out of state for multiple months. During the period prior to returning to BAFD in late November or early December 2025, I saw two other dentists. At the time I returned to BAFD, I had a recommendation that I needed to redo all four of my front caps because I supposedly had an infection under all four teeth. I did not tell the dentist, Dr Datla, what the recommendation was as I was suspicious after high prices from the other dentist and a friend asking me "why aren't you taking an antibiotic if you have an infection under all four teeth?" and wanted an unbiased second opinion. Dr. Datla is a dentist and a periodontist, so she certainly was going to not miss an "infection". Guess what? No infection and no recommendation to replace the crowns! I also want to mention that I had a lot going on in my life and plenty of dental benefits that were going to expire at the end of December. The staff was so accommodating in getting me scheduled immediately and everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. After my bad experience with another dentist, I assure you it felt especially wonderful. I can fully recommend Biltmore Avenue Family Dentistry as being a warm and inviting place and as having honest professionalism in every area.

I am happy to say that I have finally found a practice that I trust. Beware of this practice as I am a dental assistant retired so I kind of know what I'm talking about, even though technology has advanced the basic concepts are still the same and you don't leave a crown with exposed margins so the root can decay over a period of time. Just another issue that I can do nothing about and that was $1,800 with a dental discount plan. Again beware!
