This nail salon is the best! They are sweet, clean, open late with a lot of colors and very reasonably priced! They also have a punch card that gets you a free mani/pedi after 10 visits. They remember you and are always happy to see you, and there is never a wait because they are open late and 7 days a week. Although I do not get my nails done weekly, I am a frequent customer. I am usually satisfied that is why I go back. Tonight however my experience was disappointing. It was quick and nothing special. My fingernails were barely cleaned and hardly any lotion was applied on my legs and hands. I was not given a massage at the end. I will not longer use this salon. read more

I am changing my nail salon to G&J. Great prices and very efficient. They use all sterilized utensils for manicures and pedicures, plus gloves to prevent UV overexposure to hands. A big plus to me since most of the salons I've been to don't take this extra step for customers health. The place appears immaculate. Connie gave a great back massage ($25 for 30 minutes and this included hot stones). Looking forward to going again. read more

Love love love this salon! I have been going to them for over 6 years. Even when I moved to Westchester (45 min drive) I continued coming here because I have yet to find another salon that compares! They are so friendly and accomaditing I always leave here happy and relaxed as I do after a day at the spa. Jenny is my favorite but everyone else here does a great job as well. Love that they're salon including the restroom is spotless, and the fact that they use new tools with each customer. This nail salon appears to be very bright and clean and they have a nice selection of gel polish to choose from (if they actually have it). I wanted to try the metallic colors and each one I chose the lady told me she couldn't do it bc the color won't come out the same, so why not remove it from the samples book? I finally settled for 2 colors and she told me an additional color would be extra. The owner is this creepy guy with a comb over and a long pinky nail and a pervert! He kept asking me personal questions and leering at me, very uncomfortable! When it was time to pay I pulled out my cc and the girl asked if I had cash. I said no, I want to pay with a cc. She said they prefer cash and I said well there is no sign stating it's cash only. Then they agreed to take my care but when they saw it was an AMEX they told me they don't accept that. What a load of BS! I don't think the pain job was bad but it was not great either. read more

I recently threw my daughter's princess birthday party at Brilliant Nails and Spa and everything went beautifully. The owners went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and they were so accommodating to our needs. They even put up their own balloon decorations for us which they did not have to do. They brought in an extra party table which I didn't even know I needed. The entire staff were so nice to our party guests and did a great job. Everyone was so impressed and said it was a great party and venue. read more

Read good & bad reviews about G&J. I went on Saturday for a mani/pedi. I can only say I left without my nails finished and very taken back with the treatment I received. Connie who did my nails asked me if I wanted a massage during my pedicure for extra cost. I said no thank you, so I got no leg massage that most places give you with the regular price. After this she seemed annoyed with me. While I was having my manicure she yelled at me not to read a magazine while getting my nails done. I usually do this but ok I understood so stopped looking at mag on table. I wasn't holding it. Next while I was drying my nails I pulled down my pant legs. She didn't do it so I did, messed up thumb nail doing it and went to her to touch it up. I was yelled at by Connie and Christina, why did you do that!. All I can say is I felt humiliated and bullied in this nail salon. She looked at me in disgust. Didn't move to fix my nail. I left without it painted. Went to dashing diva who fix it for free. That's my new nail salon. I don't think any person should be treated so rude & cruel. read more

I've been three times since they changed management. Although they have really fixed it up, the quality of the mani-pedis has gone way way down. The new owner, Helen, is very chatty and tries to engage new customers. My first experience there, under her management was fine. The second time, the technician was horrible. She cut one toe slightly while cutting the nail. During my manicure, she continuously roughly grabbed and bent my hands into contorted positions, regrabbing and twisting every time that I moved. The entire experience was torture. I didn't go back for several times but was passing today, overdue and there was a space right in front. The young girl who did my toes started filing the surfaces of the nails with the coarse side of a regular emery board. When I asked that she not do that as it destroys the surface of the nail she stopped on that toe but started right in again on the next. The lady in the chair next to me felt obliged to chime in with my protests. Helen came over to see what was going on and felt obliged to offer commentary and exclamations over the size of my feet (they are large and I didn't appreciate being viewed as part of a freak show). Then I was told that the color I picked was too sheer, 'it looks good on small toes but not big nails like yours'. Helen herself offered to do my manicure. While my toes may leave something to be desired esthetically, I have beautiful strong finger nails that I keep at a constant length in a beautiful oval shape. When she went to cut them, I said 'just file'. She objected, saying she would just cut a tiny bit. She did only cut a little but square off the tops, transforming my perfect nails into squarish blunt ends. When I saw this, she told me that I was wrong and proceeded to make comments in Chinese to the other workers in the salon. I paid and left without polish. She took full payment by the way. With all the nice salons in Great Neck there is scant reason to go here. As an addendum- I tip very well. No back massage given, this is usually pretty standard. Two thumbs down. read more

I came in today for an acrylic set today on Christmas Eve. I wanted black glitter on my tips. & when I arrived *i don't remember her name* but she applied the set on my nails and once I told her I wanted black glitter I start to get to get yelled at because I DIDNT KNOW THEY HAD A GLITTER SET!!! I don't work at a nail salon. I'm not educated in any of that stuff. I was so mad. I'm crying on Xmas eve my nails look like shit! I went in to feel relaxed and pretty, to get yelled at. I am never coming back again! You do not yell at a client ever! I work at a hair salon and I have never yelled at someone for not knowing something. That's rude and made me feel downgraded. I come here during my lunch break when i know at work it isn't too busy just so I don't have to rush back. I get a gel pedicure and I'm very pleased with the job. I'm usually a good tipper however I don't carry cash on me which I know i should. I would leave the tip on my card and the owners got upset at me saying "next time bring cash" ..despite that I'd still go for my pedicures. One day I went I got my gel pedicure and had $3 in cash on me. Figured I would give that as a tip be more prepared the next time. Good lord I gave $3 tip and the owner lashed out on me and kept saying that's it??!! I'm sorry I'm all for tipping but I come here all the time and always leave a good tip but there was no need for lashing out on me. Tipping is not mandatory. I didn't have to tip if I didn't want to. This place is my favorite nail salon! I have been going to them for over 10 years. They were in bayside and then conveniently moved to great neck where I used to work. They have been here for 2 1/2 years and have built a big clientele. I love everyone here. They are all nice and friendly and make you feel really welcomed here. For each customer they use a brand new set of utensils. They are efficient and do an amazing job. Jenny and Jason are awesome! A color gel is $20 Monday to Thursday. Personally, I haven't found a cheaper place for gel. Waxing is 50% Monday to Thursday and the waxing is very professional. I'm very happy with them. The store is super clean and nice. The manicurists sure know how to do a great mani/pedi! I personally haven't been to any other place since I found them. The massages are awesome too.. Definitely love this place. The store seems have been recently renovated and everything is clean and bright. I spotted this store after shopping in the supermarket. I had a chair massage while waiting for my friends to pick me up and then fell in love with this place. Clean, tidy, quiet with bright decorations. All staff were nice to offer us drinks and snacks. I can't begin to guess how this place got a decent rating! I was working in the area and got a French pedi and fresh mani shellac, the price was reasonable and there was a Monday through Friday special. The women are super pushy and try to sell a whole bunch of other services while you're there (ie massages and waxing). Either way I left after they finished and the shellac chipped within 24 hours... Not just one nail but 4. I went back to have it fixed and the woman couldn't figure out the right shades etc then she tried to just fill in the chipped paint with new paint which looked terrible and I made her correct it. She then got up and had another woman do the French tips. The lines were terribly wavey. I was so frustrated. All remaining 6 original nails chipped within 48 hours. I would not recommend getting your nails done here, I'm also pretty certain that they only use a shellac clear coat over regular polish. This place is a scam. read more

I've been here 3 times and really have mixed feelings about this nail salon. The first time I received a bad attitude half way through but left with perfect nails, the second time it was pleasant and decent manicure and yesterday, the third time, I had a technician who did an awful job painting and when I asked for a few nails to be fixed, the owner came over and saw how bad of a job it was and she insisted on doing an extra coat of polish with an extra top coat and said "for free , I'll do it myself." I explained to her that I hesistant because I didn't want the polish to be too thick as it would never fully dry and will ruin by the end of the day. She kept telling me that she knows what she's doing and will help me for free. It isn't really for free because it's her salon and I paid for a manicure and it is her responsibility to make sure that the manicure is done well. Anyway, she put the extra two top coats on, refused to to a quick-dry top coat without me paying an extra $2, although it was their fault that I was running late after this mess. I dried for 10 minutes and left. It's now 24 hours later and my nail polish is getting dents in it because the polish is thick, And I'm away for a week so I can't even go back to show them and have it fixed. Bummer. I'll be going somewhere else next time. read more
