My weekend plans got rained out, so I found myself soggy and hungry early in the morning. Before I even turned into the gravel lot, I could see the sunny yellow walls adorned with sunflowers and clippings from nearby events. The staff was very kind and accommodating, providing me with not only a hot, hearty breakfast burrito but also tips and activities to do nearby. At this cafe there is a wonderful assortment of cheeses from across the state, as well as a variety of IPAs for those interested. While walking around, we came across Hardball Cafe. Parking is limited but luckily we parked in a lot and was walking around most of the day. As expected, service was a little slow to start but again, you need to be patient as it's right in the heart of a busy area. We sat right outside near the sidewalk, so got to people watch while we ate. Some may not be comfortable with that but I actually enjoy it. Lol Ultimately, service was excellent and everyone was very accommodating. To start, we got the pretzel with cheese dipping sauce and spicy mustard. Always a hit wherever we go and Hardball did not disappoint. Pretzel was soft and the dips were very good. For lunch, I got the Bambino Burger. Quality was excellent. Came with "local cheddar", lettuce, tomato, onions and fries on the side. Burger was juicy and cooked to order. If you're in the Cooperstown area or there for one of the big baseball tournaments, this is a solid option to go to.

It seems like you could get almost everything you need right here. They offered sweet morning pastries, there was a selection of cakes and desserts to bring back to our accommodations for later, and they offered a cooked breakfast and lunch (and brunch!) menu. The coffee was great, and we took some beans home. If you live locally, I read that they also offer free used coffee grinds to take home to your garden. My favorite part of the cafe, is that the donut flavors rotate, making things very interesting. I absolutely loved my little lemon poppyseed donut, but when the warm cinnamon sugar ones came right out of the oven, they absolutely stole the show. The burger for lunch was delightful, and the quiche was quite lovely as well. Highly recommend stopping in, no matter the occasion you will leave feeling refreshed with a wonderful bite to eat.
