They will hurt your dog and give no apologies or remorse for their mistakes. The lead tech who's a woman is over bearing and doesn't listen along with Dr. Ryan Bowler. If you want to be ripped off on his prices which are outrageous and get the poorest quality care for your pet then this is your guy! His tech hurt my dog and now my dog is terrified and won't go back because of his fear of them. He's a special needs dog who was an abused dog before I got him and he has major anxiety and trust issues. I called them out on it (hurting my dog) and they suggested I drug my dog up next time before bringing him in. They suggested I drug my dog up before coming in so they can cut his nails?! When I mentioned this to Ryan Bowler that his tech hurt my dog he just shrugged it off and suggested because it didn't bleed that he wasn't hurt. I about lost it. When I told him I was taking my dog to someone else he just dismissed it like he couldn't care less. No apologies, offers, consolations or considerations to keep us he just dismissed us like we were nothing to him. He literally couldn't care less. I've been bringing Harly in for a couple years and then they did this like it was just business as usual so I told him I was done with his horrible practice. I've had issues with him before over the $70 exam fee that he spent doing for less than two minutes to tell me yep he's okay all for $70. I'm telling you these people will hurt your dog and then act like it was yours or the dog's fault! Worst veterinarian I've ever had after 30 years of owning dogs and going to vets I've ever encountered. You want your pet to be abused this is your guy! WARNING GO AT THE RISK OF YOUR PET!!

On the eve of Thanksgiving, we were told our puppy was very sick, needed a surgery that starts anywhere from $8-$10 THOUSAND asap, and that it won't guarantee her to live since she is a Frenchie. Then they said she needed another surgery after that for something else, which was over $10 THOUSAND. We decided to go pick her up from our vet and make a hard decision to put her down. I started calling around Vegas with info that our vet gave us, and the Vets that did answer said the same price, and the risk was huge! I started doing a wider search in California, Arizona, and Utah. Finally, I called Lava Rock, Ashley answered, I asked A LOT of questions, she patiently answered all of them, and she set up an appointment for the next day. We packed our bags, along with our other dog (so if the surgery was successful, and she needed aftercare, we would stay out in St. George). We arrived, and the first thing they noticed was how well our puppy was acting. Dr Murdock went over all Philly's records and did an exam. She let us know that after the exam, she didn't see any reason to put our girl down. We were SHOCKED AND CONFUSED (crying happy tears now) as this was such a serious life-threatening problem, so we asked her to take an X-ray to reassure us. She still didn't see any reason for concern! We are happy to report our girl is ALIVE and THRIVING

!!!CLOSED SIGN!!! Monday 10/6/25 6:00am…read more!!DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS POSTED!! My dog is struggling to breathe...so I googled emergency vet care in St. George... SOUTHWEST EMERGENCY VET CLINIC came up with EMERGENCY CARE HOURS M-F 5:00 pm until 8:00am & 24 hrs Sat. & Sun. (normal hours that a regular vet is closed). I grabbed my baby and rushed down to the clinic only to find a CLOSED SIGN on the door with a "SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE" noted at the top. Confused by the "CLOSED UNTIL SATURDAY 10/6 @ 5:00pm", since 10/6 is a Monday (not a Saturday), so what day and time are they really open??? I called the emergency # given at the bottom (since my puppy is still struggling to breathe), when the girl answered...I was told that there were NO VETS AVAILABLE therefore they are CLOSED and I could take my dog to the emergency clinic in LAS VEGAS (2 hrs away) or WAIT until the vet clinics open at 8 am in St. George (still 2 hrs until opening). If it's an EMERGENCY... you DON'T HAVE 2 hrs to WAIT!!!) THE girl that supposedly was a vet tech on the phone was VERY NON CARING about the situation. What good is an EMERGENCY VET HOSPITAL if they are NOT OPEN DURING EMERGENCY HOURS & it's an EMERGENCY???!!! JUST AWFUL BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!

However, I located the confirmation email from the veterinary hospital, which clearly stated that my appointment was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The receptionist was courteous and explained that several patients were already waiting and that the hospital was also handling an emergency. I understood that emergencies must take priority, so I was prepared to wait. My concern is not that the hospital accepted an emergency patient. My concern is that, after the initial explanation, I received no further updates about the delay or how much longer I might be waiting. After an hour, I still had not been seen and was not given a revised estimate. I was left with the impression that I could be waiting another hour or two, so I decided to leave. I am sharing this experience because, as consumers, we should expect better communication and greater respect for our time. Emergencies are unavoidable, but clients should not be left waiting indefinitely without updates or options. If a veterinary hospital accepts emergency cases, appointments should be scheduled with enough flexibility to accommodate unexpected delays rather than booking patients in 15-minute increments with little or no margin. Clients with upcoming appointments could also be called or texted to let them know that an emergency has occurred and that there may be a significant wait. This would allow them to decide whether to wait or reschedule before making the trip. Another option would be to ensure appropriate staffing and establish a triage process that provides clients with a more realistic estimate of the expected wait time. At the very least, patients who have already waited an hour should be offered the opportunity to reschedule, along with a meaningful gesture such as a discount on the rescheduled visit. In my case, I was initially informed about the emergency, but there were no additional updates, no apology for the extended delay, no reliable estimate of when I might be seen, and no alternative offered other than continuing to wait or leaving. I chose to leave. Emergencies deserve immediate attention, but scheduled clients still deserve ongoing communication, consideration, and options.
