Nidal Halabi with Brinks Awards & Signs saved my life. The boss was having a big 4th of July bash at his ranch, and I needed to get 12 wine glasses etched in very little time. I was referred to Brinks by our previous engraver who closed down their shop. I reached out and talked to Nidal, who was not only very friendly, but very knowledgeable. I basically gave him very little direction and left things in his hands; after all, he's the professional. I told him what I wanted etched, where I wanted it etched, and just told him to do whatever he thought was best. I gave him a two-week deadline, but of course the boss asked if we could get it sooner and Nidal came through. We were able to get it back in about 7-8 days. He got back to me the next day with a confirmation that my kiddo's team trophies would be ready in time for the closing ceremony. I had a last minute request for engraving a small heart shaped locket. This was a favor I was doing for a family member with a terminal illness who was making this as a gift for his wife. We needed some engraving done on a piece of wood for a retirement gift and after calling around to 6+ businesses all over the Monterey/S.C., Nidal at Brinks saved the day. Nidal walked me through the process and he was able to incorporate our company logo as well as the tight time frame that I needed the engraving done. Today I went to their website to find out if they had glass engraving/etching available and it stated the following under glass pricing: "We can engrave your piece using Sandblasting which provides a very classy look and feel. Sandblasting requires a $45 set-up fee and is typically at least $20 per piece to engrave. We can also engrave many of your pieces using our diamond bit scratch engraver or our laser engraver. These methods provide a different look and feel from traditional sandblasting but the engraving costs can be significantly less. Typical costs are $12 to $20 per piece with no set-up fee assuming you meet our minimum charge." So I brought in my item, and after having to stand there for 5 min waiting to be served and saying "Hello?...Hello?" a woman came out and told me they ONLY have sandblasting. I told her their website stated they had a cheaper option, and she argued with me. Then later she went back to check, but was very unapologetic. I don't care if their website is out of date, that happens, but arguing with customers isn't cool. I can't comment on the quality of their work, but I advise future customers to call first and not rely on the accuracy of their site. read more

Nice people. I initially went on line to see about buying some engraved signs. Afterwards I thought, why am I not buying local? They are only a mile from my office. So I went by and told them what I wanted, they wrote up the order and I'll have my signs in a few days. Of course it costs a little more to support our local business, but in the big scheme of things, did it really cost more? I don't think so. This was an important project so I extended my search to Santa Cruz. Nidal picked up the phone and was helpful from the very beginning. Even with a rush fee his price was very reasonable and his turnaround time was incredible! The client was so pleased with the result they ended up adding to their order and Nidal was able to facilitate an even faster turnaround!
