I've not purchased a new vehicle from Brinson Ford in Athens for over 15 years. I'm now reminded as to why. The online price is not the price they put on their worksheet; plus, they have add-ons of about two thousand dollars added as well. I do my homework before purchasing a new vehicle and state upfront that I don't need a test drive; that I know what vehicle I want; and I have an approximate value of my trade. I never intend to be rude but will not sit for the back-and-forth games to buy a vehicle. I was upfront from the beginning and don't appreciate the manager stating that all of their practices are used by everyone. Guess what, not on me. Hopefully anyone that sees this review will have a good experience with this dealership, but please do your homework and make sure of the numbers. I was not surprised to log in to Yelp this morning to see that Brinson Ford only has a one star review. Terrible customer service! Traveling across the west, pulliTng our 5th wheel RV, I recently took my F-350 Lariat to Brinson Ford to get the oil and transmission fluids changed and to get the coolant flushed and replaced. I've always taken my truck to Ford dealerships to get the Ford Motorcraft products and to ensure that things are being done as Ford prescribes in the owners manual. I requested "full synthetic" oil and they told me that Ford doesn't make a full synthetic and asked if there was a specific brand of oil. I asked them to put in Mobile 1 full synthetic. Coolant is supposed to be checked when it's cold. So the next morning I opened the hood and immediatly noticed that it was very low. I had nearly a gallon of the Motorcraft Orange 50/50 Prediluted Coolant that Ford calls for in the owners manual that I'd bought in Rapid City, South Dakota. I added the coolant that I had (nearly a gallon) and it was still a bit low. That motivated me to check the transmission fluid which was also low. I drove to Brinson Ford and told them what I'd discovered. They said they'd order a gallon of coolant for me to replace the coolant that I had used and would have it the next day. I went back and they tried to hand me a gallon of a generic, aftermarket brand of coolant. I told them that I had put in Ford Motorcraft Orange 50/50 Prediluted Coolant and that's what I expected in return. They brought the Service Manager out and he told me "Ford no longer makes the Orange 50/50 Prediluted coolant". I told him that I can not take his word for it.....that I'd already trusted this dealership to provide the full amount of transmission oil and coolant and that they fell short on that.....that I would have to confirm what he was telling me with Ford Motor Company. I stepped out to the showroom and called Ford. As I suspected, the Parts Manager had just lied to me. I went to the Service Manager and told him that I'm very upset and disappointed in this dealership and the lack of quality of service and now being lied to by one of their managers. The Service Manager went with me to the parts counter to talk to the Parts Mgr. and he repeated his lie. When I told him that I'd just talked to Ford and they assured me that they still make the orange prediluted. The parts manager then asked me for the part number of the orange prediluted coolant! I could not believe what I was hearing. No apology for lieing to me, only trying to justify it. I thought to myself...."how many of their customers are getting the same old thing.....some aftermarket brand of product and thinking they're getting Motorcraft product?". This is deception on a criminal level. And then to short change the amount of coolant my nearly a gallon and the transmission by 1/2 quart. If they do that by the next 10 trucks that come in for service, that's 5 quarts of transmission fluid that they've charged people for and saved and 10 gallons of coolant that they've charged people for and saved. read more

I've sat on how I would write this review for a solid 2 wks. because honestly I don't like writing bad reviews. But I feel like I have to do this. Honestly, the experience of buying a car from here is great. The staff is friendly. They helped my wife get into a really good vehicle about 3 yrs ago. However, not but a month ago I show up there. I guess it's my folly, that I've should've been more keen, should've trusted my feelings more. Because I was honestly betrayed by this company because their quality, and control on used vehicles is just not there. I just got my tags, and plates today (in reference for you to judge the time span here). But my vehicle currently sits in a mechanic's shop awaiting for the "go ahead" to fix with $6040 worth of repairs needed. Even my mechanic said that Brinson must've taken straight from the person who traded it in, and put it on the line to be resold. No detailed inspection was done to it. AT ALL. Because, if they did they would've caught these mechanical issues. Now I understand that I bought this vehicle "as is", but for your claim that you sell "Certified Pre-owned", and for me to trust that you were selling me a road worthy vehicle when it wasn't, well, that's pretty much shady business practices. This is not how I expected such a prestigious dealership like Brinson Ford or any dealer that carries the Ford name to conduct business this way. No, this is what I would expect from those no name buy here, pay here dealers, the ones that spring up around tax season, and suddenly disappear (out of business) by summer. Now given, I did purchase a foreign vehicle "as is", and that their mechanics work on Fords all day (Ford mechanics words). But they could've took this vehicle in to its proper dealership not 40 miles away in Tyler, found the issues, and fixed them. But I guess that is asking too much because, if you know not what your dealing with then perhaps Brinson had no business selling the vehicle. I'm severely disappointed in not only myself but in you too Brinson. I very seriously doubt I will be back. I'm not telling potential buyers to stay away, no I'm telling future possible buyers to get their vehicles inspected at an independent shop before you buy. Or you just will regret it. read more

Sorely disappointed in the service department this past weekend. I arrived 15 minutes before the department opened, and was the second customer in line. After 1 hr and 45 min, I asked how much longer it was going to be. My service advisor, Phyllis, went to check, and I was told that so far, for my oil change and tire rotation, they had drained the oil and taken two tires off. In an hour and 45min. Now, I realize this is not Phyllis's fault, but is a staffing issue at the dealership. Why on earth would a major dealership opt to run short staffed on the weekend, when that is the only time many people can get in for routine maintenance? 2hrs and 20 min for an oil change and tire rotation is simply ridiculous. Especially when you are there first thing in the morning. An additional note, if you ever buy a car from there, they will hound you forever with repeated phone calls to buy /trade again, despite repeated requests to remove the number. Maybe if they didn't have such a staff turnover they could keep up with things better. Worth the drive to another town for better service, for sure. read more

Brought my F150 in for a oil change at Fast Lane, the service people had a problem with the lugs on it, they didn't have my lugs on hand. Service guy took me to the auto parts store to get me new ones, had to go to 2 stores. He even paid for about 3 at one store himself and would not let me pay him. I am so impressed with the service I received today. Already a Ford lover, now I'm a Brinson Ford lover. They got me for life. read more

My husband bought a truck here back in 2013, and the first experience we had with them was good. No issues and the salesman was nice. We went back to purchase a SXS from them about a year later. We were looking online at all different places but finally decided to buy one from Brinson they had advertised online since we had done business there before. When we went in to look at the SXS we saw online, we were told oh that isn't the price of that one. It was about $2000 more when we got there. We showed them the post where it clearly was the same one and what the price was. After about a day, they came back and said they would honor the price it was online, but wanted us to know it was a mistake and they normally wouldn't do that. Pretty rude about it. So everything continues- we purchase the SXS after test driving it. We get it home and the very next day my husband went out and was just messing around with his new "toy" and realized the lights wouldn't turn on. We called Brinson to let them know immediately. Then about an hour later - it wouldn't even start. Brinson came, picked it up, and took it back to the shop. After about a week they said they had found the issue and got it corrected, but the entire time they were rude about the whole situation. Now flash forward to May of this year - my husband got a call to trade in his truck with them and purchase a new one, I always swore I would never do business there again after the last dealing, but my husband went without my knowledge and bought a truck from them. First - he was charged $300 for "window etching" that they said they put on every vehicle when we called to find out what it was. Then I go through the paperwork and my husband actually signed off on the charge (I know his mistake - but it should've at least been explained to him and what the benefit was of having it, but he had NO IDEA anything about the window etch). Then the following day we started hearing a knocking sound coming from the front end - we of course called Brinson and took it back in. We got the truck back a few days later with them saying it was fixed - it wasn't. We took it back a second time, but this time his truck was there for TWO MONTHS. I called and wanted to speak with the GM of the dealership, but he wasn't available and so I spoke with a different manager. Once I started talking to him I let him know our frustrations with the entire process and stated that we may just bring the truck back and get our old truck in return since it was having so many problems. He immediately said we couldn't do that, and I know the lemon laws so I simply stated well I bet with a lawyer we could. He then IMMEDIATELY told me I can't speak to you anymore and hung up on me. I called back and spoke with a different manager right after that who basically told me I shouldn't have mentioned a lawyer and it was my fault he hung up on me. Nonetheless, my husband likes the truck and we left it there for them to fix. When I went to pick up the truck, my daughters tablet that was left in there was not in it. The nice girl at the desk called to the managers office and I could hear him on the phone acting as if he didn't even know what a tablet was. Really?! So to top all of the crap off we dealt with them, they stole her tablet, didn't care to even speak to me or apologize, and I never got a call from management that I requested after that. BUYERS BEWARE --- DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! Added --- I had an employee who had previously worked for them a few years ago and ultimately quit because the owner Mr. Brinson constantly cussed at them and eventually threw a stapler at her. Not the people I would ever do business with again. Update-- Amanda with Brinson sent me a message today (9/23/16) stating they had a tablet that possibly was my daughters. She is shipping back to me once confirmed. Amanda was very nice and apologized for the troubles we had and also explained there had recently been a change in management. read more

Edit from 1 star a day later - As soon as I posted this, the sales manager contacted me to get my side of the story. She gave me her side, because I was not there with my grandmother the first few visits, only went with her after she purchased a car. I feel like the blame is on both sides, my grandmother should not have gone alone. My only complaint at this point is how the finance guy treated us when we went in to speak with him. He was very aggressive during the entire conversation. I thought we would go into an office but he had a sit at a desk by the door and spoke loud enough for the "audience" at the front desk to hear. -- My original complaint was that I felt they were very unethical. My 80 year old grandma with the help of a daughter purchased a used car from them in May. Several people pointed out that the car had a damaged frame (as if it had been wrecked and repaired). *The service department's records show that they looked over the vehicle with another family member and the Carfax did not show anything.* The dashboard lights would randomly come on, low tires/gas cap open/engine warning light/inaccurate cruise control setting. *The service dept. did not see this problem, it was working when the car came in.* The only suggestions the service department gave her was to trade it in for a price much lower than her purchase price. Shortly after she purchased it, she went into the hospital for two weeks and then couldn't drive for another two weeks. She went back 6/10, alone. She traded the used car for a new car. She went in to speak with her salesman and he convinced her that the Focus was not enough for her, she needed a Fusion. *She felt like he took advantage of her which breaks my heart that she feels like that, I am not arguing the bigger car though.* The owners manual was not in the car and after repeated requests she felt it took a long time to get it. I went over all of the paperwork and went in to talk to the finance manager. The sale was done, we were not asking to give the car back and get her money. I wanted to know their side of the story before I posted her side on the internet. I asked if they told her how much she would be losing if she traded it in. The finance guy said that they go over the numbers in detail. A typical "little old lady" isn't going to understand all of the "details" but she would understand if you said "you are about to lose $8000". These guys lack then ability to put themselves in the place of anyone else. All they are seeing is $$$$. My question was "how would you feel if your mother/grandmother/wife/sister/daughter felt like someone took advantage of them all because they didn't want to 'bother' you?" We felt like he was very rude (and loud) about the entire situation. He then continued to argue the extended warranty sale on the new car and refused to refund that. He said it was not possible for the way they created the loan. When you choose 0% interest, you are losing out on other rebates. You need to go in knowing the difference between how much the 0% is saving you vs how much the rebates would save you. When it comes down to it, they made a lot of money off this little old lady. It is scary how many people go in to purchase a vehicle and don't understand what they bought and how much they paid. **After speaking with the sales manager, she apologized that we felt this way about it and she offered to help in any way. She was not there when I went in so it could have potentially been handled differently if we spoke with her instead of the finance guy. After speaking to her and I wasn't there the first few visits, I am going to assume that they handle this all like most other dealerships would, minus the finance guy. read more

Wife test drove a car , did not like gear shift not lined up steering was a lot of play . he asked what do you think , we told him no and the problems and he said it is a 2900 dollar car what do you expect. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!!! This is a follow up to a post I did at the beginning of last week... THIS COMPANY IS HORRIFIC!! I did as I was instructed by a response from "The owner" (we all know that it didn't come from the owner and that it come from a box manned by an employee) to contact Ben Lee @ 903-676-5200. WOW, what a shock... Ben didn't return my call!! What does this say about Brinson Ford? Looks like they have a guilty conscience. They don't care who they con or who they take advantage of.. I'm going to take my story to the media if this is not resolved ASAP. I think that all consumers have the right to know how Brinson Ford is scamming and deceiving people when they finance a vehicle. By the way, I also reached out to Ford corporate and they made a phone call to Brinson Ford on my behalf, because I didn't want them to say I was harassing them. I believe it was the finance manager that was supposed to call me back but of course I never got a call! All I can say is this company is the worst in East Texas. Worst dealership I have ever done business with. They literally stole my 2005 F150 from me. I am 67 years old took it into them because it would not start. It was there 3 weeks finally got a c all saying it would be around $537 to fix it be ready in 2 days. Went to pick it up they said it needed a new engine $7300 it only had 160,000 miles on it. I could not pay it they kept my truck.........I would not trust them at all and I am still stuggling without my truck. read more

Live Out of Town? Don't Bother!!! I purchased a car from this dealership a couple of years ago and had a great experience from that purchase. The same salesperson called me Friday night, to inform me of a trade in that they received and thought that I would interested in. I live on the East edge of Fort Worth and told him that I would be in the next morning to see the car and asked him if the car would definitely be available for me to see.....because I was having to travel quite a distance to get there. I had my husband phone the dealership when we were about half way there to inform them that we were definitely on our way......but may have a slight (30 minute) delay due to train/road construction issues. The salesperson said it would be no problem. My husband and I were in complete and total shock when we arrived to find out that the salesperson didn't have the keys and that a potential buyer was driving the car that we had traveled 2 hours to see. They told us that the potential buyers had bad credit and likely wouldn't be able to get financing. After waiting a very a long time we were informed that those people decided to purchase the car and that their credit went through. TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE!!!! We drove round trip more than 4 hours to specifically see this car......after we were promised that the car would definitely be available when we got there. I can't believe that this is the way that they treat out of town/repeat buyers. What a waste of an entire day!!!! I will NEVER EVER AGAIN travel to this dealership and have asked the salesperson to remove my contact information from his sales list. I have absolutely no interest in doing repeat business with a company that conducts business in this manner. They should have simply told the other people that we had an appointment scheduled and were driving a 2 hour distance and that the vehicle would not be available to show until after our meeting. So, if you live outside Corciscana......don't waste your time and gas dollars going here to look at a car.......they will sell it out from under you.....before you even have a chance to set foot inside the store. read more

I cant say much for the sales department but when it comes to the service department don't expect to get the service you deserve as a customer. I had requested a estimate for repairs for my vehicle and I sent the request through the dealers web through the text messaging service. I was told that someone would get in touch with me on my estimate very soon, note this was on Monday, Friday comes around and I had already called three times during the week to check on my estimate and all I ever got was "we are working on it" and someone would get in touch with me. after more than a week and a half no one still had not gotten to me on my estimate. Then one day I get a email asking about my opinion of what my experience was like with the dealer and of course I put in my two cents regarding the issue. and now here another week goes by and no one has called or emailed me. Like I said at the beginning Don't expect to get the service you deserve because your just waiting your time. With all the research and time I have put into buying cars in my lifetime, this dealership is by far the best one I have ever dealt with. They are friendly, courteous and so helpful. Extremely easy to work with. They gave me the best price right off the bat, with none of that back and forth negotiating we all hate about buying a new car! Their price beat all others, and believe me, I checked everywhere I could including the Internet. They had the exact vehicle with the options I wanted. However, if they didn't have it, they were more than willing to find it for me! You can't do any better than by taking your business to Brinson Ford Lincoln! I have only had business with the repair part of Brinson and please do not take your vehicle here. I have an older F150 and the computer had gone out. It took 3 weeks to get my truck repaired and $900.00 cost. I got it home fine, the next day - would not start. Same problem as before. A lot of phone calls, negative emails, stop payments, etc..... the truck went back and 3 weeks later supposedly repaired. I picked it up, got home and the parking lights will not go off and the other lights will not come on. I had to disconnect the battery. Well, here I am with a truck I can not drive and a lot of money spent on a truck that isn't worth what I just spent. On top of all the terrible work done on the truck, the people are rude. I have talked to a lot of people during these last weeks and Brinson has an awful reputation. Even the city of Athens take their vehicles to a Ford house in Tyler to be repaired. I have no idea yet who I will take my truck to, but I will let it sit and plant flowers in it this spring, before I ever let Brinson touch it. They could offer me a new truck for free and I would turn it down. Mr. Brinson, how do you look yourself in the mirror knowing you promote rudeness, bad repairs, lies and cheats. read more

Brinson Ford has always treated me ok, but the last time I came in there they tried selling me extra things that I could get a whole cheaper somewhere else. I have bought my last 3 cars from, and do go out of there way to help you get the car that you want, but if you recommend a friend, you may not get that $100.00 referral fee that is promised. read more
