Wow! Must admit, I was skeptical about this whole solar thing. I even posted on Facebook to get all the advice I could. I even considered doing it by myself. I am so glad I didn't. Brio has been AWESOME! It made it all worth it when my power bill last month was less than $14! They were thorough, efficient, easy to work with, and did a fabulous job! The equipment I got was the best! I have connected my inverter to the internet through my wifi and now I have a web based dashboard and an iPhone app that gives me all the reporting I need for my system. In addition, I get daily emails with information about the energy I am producing. It will also inform me if something goes wrong so I can resolve it. The technicians, our sales rep (Angie), and the people I have worked with at corporate were awesome! In the world we live in today, you never know who you can trust. I have been screwed by all kinds of construction folks in the past few years, so I was really skeptical. But they did everything they said they would do. I had bids and information from 3 other companies. I do not regret my decision for one minute. If you have considered all your options and you are not sure, I would use Brio. read more

Stuck with 20yr loan that costs double the price of utility power We had a good start with Brio. Their friendly sales rep showed us how we would save because Brio's solar panels will cost the same as our current energy usage, loan terms were low, they'll do all our permit requests, even for our HOA, and help with securing tax rebates to offset some of the expense. After about 6 months of waiting for the various permit processing our solar panels finally arrived and were installed, and we were all happy. Or so we thought. Once Brio got our money and the loans started, things went pear-shaped. The panel array on our roof--supposed to cover our power needs--didn't even cover 30% of our needs. That power the panels generated also cost 2x the price than what we would've paid through our power utility. It took over a year of us repeatedly contacting Brio (most responses involved us needing to call a third party that was great in ignoring our pleas for help) before we got a defunct panel fixed. There is no contract where Brio lays out what our panels will produce--only a contract with a credit agency--so we're stuck with paying double the price of energy (once for the solar panel loan and again for the energy we have to purchase because the panels are insufficient despite claims they would meet our needs) for the next two decades! read more

Updating: Since I posted my original review, it took 3 months for them to reach out to us. It wasnt because I was calling and emailing, but because someone had sent my husband a text asking him to take a survey. He told the guy I'm not doing another thing for you until I get what I was promised. Within a week, we had our smart thermostat that we were promised at signing. They installed my panels over a year and a half ago and my panels are still not activated. They will set me up with a project manager that swears they are going to help and every time my panels fail inspection from the electrical company. The last time I heard from them was months ago that they are looking for someone to correct the issue and now, I can't get a hold of anyone. We are paying more than we were told we would be paying, they ruined our ceiling during the install and had to come back to fix it from the inside, they messed up paperwork with Duke which caused a 3-month delay, and they owe us a reimbursement for quoting us wrong and we still haven't got the reimbursement after 3 months! read more

I did not initiate contact with Total Solar Solutions. Rather, a sales representative contacted me on August 18, 2020 and I agreed to meet with a representative at my home the next day for the purpose of evaluating the suitability of an installation site to collect basic information about products and cost. When Mr. Polomny presented himself at my home the next day (August 19, 2020) he soon made me feel uncomfortable with what I recognized as high-pressure sales tactics which included the boast that he was a top salesperson in the region. Despite being uncomfortable and alone for the meeting, I persisted in reiterating that the purpose of this meeting was for information only, and Mr. Polomny appeared to acquiesce. Mr.Polomny was unable to answer any question about how suitability for solar installation is quantified. Despite taking no measure or readings, he assured me the site was optimally suitable for a solar installation, but refused to provide me with anything in writing, including basic documentation or product literature. Instead, he assured me that the standard process of getting the information I was requesting required me to sign a couple of documents. He intentionally misrepresented the nature of the documents and at no point did he state that it was a binding contract for which he was seeking my signature. On September 23, 2020, I responded via email to Mr. Tanner Ledyard with Total Solar Solutions that I was not ready to begin any work on the project at this time. On September 29, 2020, Mr. Polomny came to my house to pressure me into moving forward with the project. When I told Mr Polomny that I had contacted someone at the company a week prior, he claimed no one was aware of my contacting the company. At this point, he then threatened to send me to collections for 15% of the total project fee. Needless to say, I was flummoxed by this in person visit and the further high pressure nature of his tone urging me to proceed with the project. I have filed a complaint with the MN Attorney General regarding the high pressure sales tactics and misrepresentation. read more

I would NOT recommend going with this company. I was told a 1-day install. They began the install on 2/9, which started the clock for payment on the loan. But the install wasn't completed. Over the next few months I made over a dozen phone calls to the company and was scheduled 3 different dates for the install completion. But each date no one showed and the installed wasn't complete. I would have to call the company, they would apologize & set up a new install date each time. I had to begin payments on the loan on 4/12 for a system that wasn't installed. I was told they would reimburse for loan payments made until the system was fully installed if I just submitted a claim. After weeks of no reimbursement I was told that I would receive the reimbursement after the install was complete. The install was finally completed on 5/21 - 3.5 months for a "1-day" install. I had already made 2 payments on the loan for which I am supposed to be reimbursed. I called the company today as it has been 5 weeks since the install to ask about my reimbursement. They couldn't tell me. All I was told is that it has been passed off to a reimbursement team, who they had no way to contact and that I was not allowed to contact. I do not regret getting solar. I absolutely regret using this company as they seem understaffed and unable to deliver on any promises. read more

At first I really liked the company, but since having their system for a couple years I found their follow through really lax. About five months ago my inverter went out on my solar system, I contacted them and they promptly had a new inverter sent to my house to swap out under the warranty. The inverter is at my house for the last three months. I've called and left numerous messages and support tickets, no one is responding to my messages. Makes me wonder if the company is even in business anymore. If they are and are just refusing to return my calls or emails this is horrible customer service and I wouldn't recommend anyone financing a system through them anymore. read more

Instead of reducing $17,000 incentives from cost of panels, they add it to it to make the loan more and then make you use your tax incentive and rebate to pay down on loan. So they take money you should get in addition to overcharging $20,000. They said we were guaranteed to get the tax incentive to keep our bill from going up $100 more per month. Didn't happen, so our bill will go up. Almost 5 months later, panels are still not functional and we're paying on the loan for panels that aren't functional. (we've since told them not to go any further since we are working on a lawsuit.) Panels were installed incorrectly. Dimming and surging after electrical came and wired the panels up. They got their money from the loan company and all of a sudden they slow down and are unconcerned and unresponsive. Installed panels and did electrical without obtaining permits which is ILLEGAL. Brio was great to work with in the beginning. Almost felt like they would bend over backwards to help customers!! After having solar installed for almost a year we noticed a leak in our roof. We had a bubble from water that was a 4×3 spot. Tried calling them to get someone to come help fix the water damage to our roof. I was told they sold our contract, without any notice or information, to another company. I then tried calling the new company and they have no records of out solar install. Its been 6+ months of constant phone calls, mostly with no responses from anyone at Brio Energy. Be careful doing business with this company. Just haven't had a great experience. WENT under contract with them in August 2018. It's January 2019 and we still don't have solar power. The panels were installed in September 2018. In December we found out they never got an install permit from the city. So they had to get that. Now we're waiting for the city to inspect. After that, Brio tells us, we have to sign an update on the net metering contract. Hoping this doesn't mean that the laws have changed and we're going to get even less energy back from Rocky Mountain Power than we agreed to back in August. And I think this means we won't get the tax credits for 2017 since we weren't up and running by years end. Awesome. And by "awesome", I mean not awesome. Oh, and we've been paying for the solar panels since November. So that's three months of full electric bill and the solar panels. Which is also not awesome. The (semi) saving grace is that we referred 5 friends to Brio, so Brio gave us a check covering the first year of solar payments. So that's nice, I guess. But, man, do I now feel awful for referring my friends to them! My suggestion--find a company with a better track record. Take a look at the Better Business Bureau for Brio. Lots of similar complaints. Wish I'd checked there before we signed a contract with Brio. I've been trying to get solar set up since early April and guess what? Still nothing. It has been months since anyone followed up with me and I have been tossed between 3 different reps and now none of them will respond to my emails . The company came out, did all inspections, left a massive hole in my closet that took forever to get fixed and that in itself was a whole other mess. I was told I would have solar by the end of July on the LATE end and now it's mid September and no one will get back to me on what is going on. This company sure seems like a scam so beware. Really glad my full credit was pulled for NOTHING. You'd think they would want to actually give some customer service for over $30,000 of profit but apparently this company doesn't value it's customers enough to even give them an update or respond to calls or emails. I thought that getting solar was a good idea but I guess I should just stick with Xcel since they are at least reliable. I don't even know how to cancel my loan since they never actually sent me paperwork after adding this to my credit load. This whole thing is a mess and I can't even get anyone to talk to me to hope. Whether or not the content of this review changes is completely up to Brio energy. They came out to our home and gave a great sales pitch. We discussed the options with the technician, including our desire to have the ability to monitor the system on an app on our smartphones/computers. The technician told us that was absolutely possible. He made no mention of additional equipment needed to monitor the system on the smartphone/computer, but was aware of our desired to do so. We decided to go with Brio and went ahead and purchased the system. Installation was a nightmare and took months. After the system got installed, it took forever to get it turned on. We will were not granted access to the monitoring we requested. Once the system was installed and "running" we were still paying electric bills at the level we were paying PRIOR to installing an expensive solar system. We have tried to contact Brio to notify them of the fact that the system is not running properly. They do not answer, nor do they return phone calls. When we finally became frustrated with the lack of contact, we contacted the via email. The response received was disappointing to say the least. "Thanks for reaching out to us. We apologize for the lack of return communication, as we have record of one phone call in the last month. We have contacted our technician to come out and inspect what issue are occurring. They will be reaching out to you so a time can be arranged. ... Within all sale contracts, and system details we are unable to see the addition of this Solaredge monitoring card added. Because this was not added to the contract, we never ordered this additional part. There is an additional charge associated to this monitoring card which is why if promised it must be added to the contract in writing. The best way to contact our office is by phone or text to 801-783-5959." Apparently the Sales Rep neglected to include the part needed in the sales contact, although we would have no way to know that as a consumer. We expressed the desire for that option and were ignored by the salesman. Additionally, Brio's failure to answer the phone apparently means that we have not attempted to contact them. Meanwhile, the technician has not contacted us, the system still is not working. Please be sure to get everything in writing if you use this company. Every employee works hard and are honest, forward and care about helping their customers. All I've heard from the customers I've dealt with since I've worked here are positive things. Do not believe their sales pitch. We were told so many lies. We were told that the loan does not go on your debt-to-income ratio which is not true. It is only true with the same financing company that your solar loan is through. Our install took so long (almost a year) that we missed out on the rebate that we were told we would get that they used to up our loan. Overall, we ended up getting a huge loan for solar panels that by the end will end up costing over triple the price that they are worth( value added to the house) that don't cover our energy expenditure and have ended up paying about $200 more a month for our energy. read more

We have been looking into switching over to solar for the last two years. After meeting with multiple solar companies, to better understand our options, we were very impressed with the Brio organization. Brios' sales representative was direct and forthright, which made understanding the pros and cons of switching to solar easy to understand. The proposal process was fast, with the final document clear and concise. The associated costs were clearly identified and we did not feel there was the possibility for hidden fees like with other organizations. On top of the great service received, we were pleasantly surprised that Brio was the cheapest too. Signed up for panels in May 2017, there was not any communication on their part right from the get go! The panels did end up being installed on my roof at the end of summer, and then once again, no communication from them. Lots of dodging my calls, giving me the run around, and absolutely no information on why my panels were not turned on. I ended up having to make all their appointments for them, with Rocky Mountain Power, the city, etc. I am not sure why a paying customer had to do their jobs for them. It took me until December 31, to get someone out to my residence to turn the panels on! Side note: the tax credit, we signed up knowing we would receive at least 10k, back on our taxes to put towards our loan. Surprise, surprise, they did not tell us the full truth once again! We not only didn't get the tax credit, but no one at Brio could tell me why! Now the panels are not working like they promised, and our power bill has only gone down $20 instead of the full amount like promised! Paying the loan amount and our regular power bill has definitely not saved us any money!!!! And now no one will return my calls or emails, to get this issue taken care of! I was supposed to have an initial consult today, September 6th, at 10:00am. No one ever showed up to my house. I called the only number listed and the extension to talk with someone regarding consults went straight to voicemail. I left a voicemail and no one ever got back to me. I then called to talk with a customer service rep and selected the option for a call back. I was number three on the list and noone ever called back. As far as I am concerned this company is a waste of time. It just goes to show that if a company is knocking on your door to try to get business it is best to stay away entirely. We have had the most awful experience from Brio. I would give them a -10 star review if I could. We had solar panels installed OCTOBER 2020.....and we have yet to have someone actually fix the connection properly so that our energy company will sign off on the installation and connect. Our energy company has come by TWICE and told us they will not connect because Brio didn't install the solar panels properly. The guy that installed the panels promised us a google nest thermostat and then had to YOUTube how to install it. After FIVE hours of trying to install the google nest, the system did not work and we were left with an inoperable thermostat in CO for TWO DAYS during snow. It has been FOUR months of having solar panels on our roof that do not work. We have sent NUMEROUS emails to get someone to follow up, with ZERO follow up. We are shocked at the incompetence. No phone calls back, no emails. Apparently they don't care enough to make this terrible situation right. Completely inappropriate practice of sending people door to door with no business card, identification, or literature to ask intrusive questions in the name of pushing some 'government' program. Unprofessional, invasive and NOT welcome on my porch again. Consumers know how to find the business to suit their needs. I don't appreciate a kid with his earphones STILL IN asking me about my credit or calling my power company on speakerphone - the whole conversation felt like a scam and I fully expected to get robbed (or worse) until I read similar complaints at the Better Business Bureau's site for Brio Energy. Change up your marketing and advertising tactics - no one's buying from a company that makes them feel unsafe in their own home. How hard is it to make name tags and business cards? BEWARE- We had a young man who came to our neighborhood door to door. We scheduled an appointment to learn more about solar. Of course we planned on talking to a few different companies for bids. When the salesman came (30 minutes late). He talked to us. I had given them some details about our power usage. It sounded good and he encouraged us to see if we could "pre-qualify" for a loan. We were "pre-qualified."They called a few days later to see if they could set up a "site evaluation." Our salesman thought there was a chance they could add a few more solar panels. He assured us that we could cancel at anytime. The day after the site visit, I received an email saying that I owed over 5,000.00. We called to tell them we have not made an agreement to go with them. We called the finance company. The charge had not been posted and we closed the account. Apparently the transaction was pending and was posted the day after we closed it. We have made several attempts to contact Brio. We have been told we must speak to the salesman who won't return our calls. The finance company is also trying to contact them to resolve this. They say they have called and emailed with no response either. BUYER BEWARE! UPDATE: With the help of Brio Energy, we were able to receive a full reversal of the charges. I appreciate the help they gave me in working with Centrair and Green Sky Finance. Note to self: read everything before you sign. I should know better, even if it's a fourteen page contract. Brio Energy salesman came to my door totally ignoring the no soliciting sign to "pre quality" homes. He represented the company as working with Duke Power (This was later found out to be false and Duke is looking into it). As we were interested in solar we set up an appointment. What made me untrusting was that he kept avoiding questions about the financing. After the salesman left and we got the proposal we discovered they he had given totally false numbers. He gave 3 times the cost savings as the company's own website did and the proposal was double the price he gave. He also stated that we wouldn't quantify for tax exemptions unless we gave him 3 additional contact names, totally false. And the salesman said he stopped practicing law in Ohio to better help people. A fast Google search proved that he was disbarred for sexual misconduct with clients. So from start to finish everything they said was fraudulent. read more

I never take the time to leave a review but in this case I felt it necessary to do so. Our experience started with a salesperson Scotty coming to our property and going over all the deductions and refunds we would have on our taxes. We were presented a price (around 90k) for all 4 of our apartment units. We qualified for 63k and 15 minutes later the price was now 63k. I was shocked that they originally tried to mark up everything that much that they had the room to go from 90k to 63k without batting an eye. I should have stopped there, but we were told that all the incentives were going away in 2018, so we needed to get it now to claim the rebates. We scheduled everything and were promised it would be installed before 2018 to get the rebates for 2017 tax returns. This was in October. A month went by and nothing much happened, but we had our loan. After calling them to make sure we were still on schedule they said they were waiting on an engineer but that they would be done by the end of year. A guy came out and looked at our roof and said they would call later that day to schedule some things with us. A few days went by and we didn't hear anything so we called in again. We were told they should have called but somehow didn't. And he said they were making sure our roof worked still but I would get a call later that day to confirm we were good. A few more days went by with no call back so we called in again. They said they were waiting on our roof to get looked at by engineering. I said they had already done that, I was told I would get a call back later that day to confirm that. No surprise, no call. I called a couple days later and was told the same thing. We were now getting closer to the end of the year and I called and said we were promised that it would be done by year end so we could claim the credit for taxes. We were told this probably wouldn't happen.... and that they dont guarantee the tax credits or the amounts. I told him Scotty went over all of them with us and told us the amounts for each unit. I was then told during that phone call that they were going to have to do only 1 power inverter box instead of 4 because of cost. I told him that would decrease our rebate by 75% and i would no longer be interested if that was the case.The guy said Scotty no longer works for us for issues like this. I then said I wanted clarification on the rebates because of the 4 unit property. After not being able to get a straight answer I was told a supervisor would call me right back. I then said we wanted to cancel . I was then told I would get a call later that day. Surprise, no call. I called Scotty our sales person and he said he would call me back with what was going on. No call back. Called him again and he said if we didn't cancel they would bump us up and have it done in time. Otherwise we would owe 1,000 to cancel. I said let's do it if it will for sure be done and the 4 units had inverters for the rebates. He said it would. Another week went by and nothing had changed, I called in and the guy said they were waiting on permits from the city. I called a week later after hearing nothing and the guy said they submitted permits a couple days ago and were waiting on the city. When I said I was told over a week ago that they they already been submitted and that he us now waiting they barely submitted them he claimed that it was a miscommunication. It was now almost the end of December at this point and I was now told again that it would probably not be done in December but I could just claim rebates next year. I told them of my frustration with the terrible communication and lies and back and forth and inconsistencies with what I was being told and that again i wanted to cancel. I was told I owed 15 percent of the loan amount (60k). I said I was told 2 weeks earlier that Scotty told us it would be 1000. He said Scotty shouldn't have said that and that he no longer does sales because of lots of complaints like that. I said I wanted to talk to a manager I was placed on hold and now told I owed them 3200 to cancel.BEWARE! **UPDATED**And in regard to the comment that brio just posted of this being a fake review, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A FAKE REVIEW!!!!! I was a real customer and did in fact have to pay them the money for canceling. I took their survey and that review was not very good. So, this one is the same. I've had my solar panels installed and supposedly working for several months and I see no difference in my electric bill. I was promised a lower electric bill with solar and it's not happening! I've emailed and called Brio with no help. I really think the installation was done wrong and the panels put in the wrong place for maximum results. I give them a for customer friendly and honest! THERE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE A STAR FOR THIS COMPANY. DON'T EVER CONSIDER THEM! Katie (the sales woman who came over to sell to us) MISREPRESENTED what solar was going to be. She claimed a lot of things would happen and that we would pay only X amount but 1) she wasn't knowledgeable enough to make certain claims that she did and 2) the amount she said it would be DOUBLED. So we have to pay double the amount she said PLUS interest on top. I don't know how most solar companies are but their "18 month promo" SUCKS and doesn't make sense. Katie hyped everything up and deceived us on how much it would cost and the real promo details. Oh and appparently there are more than just one plan that we could have chosen but she only told us ONE! I am beyond pissed. I would not recommend this company. After posting my review,I was contacted by Brio a few days later. After explaining what happened, they apologized and got the local contractor they use to call me. I was promised that Brio would make this right and they would compensate me for their dropping the ball. For the next few days I received calls to keep me in the loop. I'm all for solar, but this company seems a little more scammy than most. I had a kid who couldn't have been older than 18 or 19 knock on my door claiming to be a partnered with the power company. Turns out he is just trying to get me to buy solar from them. I called a different solar company and decided to go with them. read more

Like others onYelp, the presentation sounds good, salesman seems nice enough, but buyer beware. The info regarding the savings is why we purchased but didn't show the same level of savings when we got our bills. I called to get some help and their CSR was polite but when it came to getting the manager to follow thru it became a waste of time. He said he would get someone out to look at the system and this went on for several weeks and I had to pursue it, manager was not proactive. I finally gave up trying to get any help. I figure the owner will make a response to this review and say to reach out and they will do their part but I can't trust them anymore. Nor should you. read more

They were courteous and respectful during the presentation but I told them from the beginning that I had another company coming to give me a quote in a couple days. They told me we needed to run my credit to see if I qualified and have someone inspect the roof in a few days to see if my roof could handle the panels. So I gave them the information and signed what I thought was just a authorization to run my credit. They use a docusign program online so you can't see what your signing other than your personal information. Then He makes a phone call to there company to verify my signing up and I realized he had signed me up for the whole system and install and everything. After he left and I was able to print off the contract they had me sign, it says I get a ten year warranty. During the whole sales pitch he kept telling me it was a 25 year warranty. I'm not sure what other dishonest things he told me that may be canceled by the contract, but now I have to hand deliver a 3-day notice of cancelation to there office or they will charge me $500 to cancel if its not there within 3-days. I don't know how there service or equipment works because I canceled but beware there sales pitch and don't sign anything unless your are ready for service! read more

Review change!! Brio came out an sold us our solar panels through Alliance Solar, the installer. We were overcharged by the installer and we struggled for a year to get our overcharge resolved. I called a VP at Brio, who passed me along to the CEO and President. They remedied this in less than a week. I had a check in hand. The run around was from the installer, who pretty much never answered calls or text. We love our panels and from my understanding Brio doesn't use that installer. Brio was willing to work with me, I think in the beginning there were issues with CS who possibly didn't know how to handle the issue and sent me to the installer to fix the overcharges. read more
