I am so glad I got to have this done. I am a woman who is just shy of 30 years old and have recently lost about 45 pounds, but had a stubborn double-chin. It was something that had bothered me since I was 10 years old, whether I was overweight or not. The first doctor I contacted (not Dr. Zemplenyi) said I should get submentalplasty -- that was a little too much of a production for me. Dr. Zemplenyi kept it simple and conservative and said I should do lipo first, but that I might have to come back if he didn't take enough off. I appreciated that Dr. Zemplenyi didn't push me to go for a bigger (and more expensive) procedure, but still informed me about the options. He also was the only one to tell me about potential risks - which luckily didn't happen to me - while the other doctor didn't say anything about that. So I also appreciated that he was honest. Dr. Zemplenyi is a quirky guy and he knows it, but I appreciated that he looked at my chin as if he were an artist. Every person's face is different and I felt like he was really trying to get the best result possible for MY face. PROCEDURE Ok so like I said, I had under-chin lipo. I chose to do it under what I think was mild sedation. I had painkillers but I was still awake. I remember him doing the procedure, but I felt calm. I didn't feel pain. I felt pressure and movement. Recovery was more involved than I thought it would be. It hurt. There was a fair amount of swelling but not a lot of bruising. I got this done on a Thursday, and took Friday and Monday off of work. I worked from home until the following Thursday. Be prepared to take it easy. I should also note that I don't respond well to opioids so I stuck with Tylenol and it was enough for me to keep it manageable. RESULTS I am SO HAPPY with my results. The sheer brain space I have freed up now that I no longer worry about my double-chin? Amazing. If you are on the fence, contact him for a consultation. It was less expensive than I was expecting and about half the price of the submentalplasty the other doctor suggested. I chose Dr. Marosan because he was supposed to be one of the best. He charged top-tier prices (around $9,000), and I thought paying a premium meant getting exceptional care and results. Instead, I was tricked by flashy marketing and walked away feeling completely deceived, and quite honestly traumatized and in a worst state then when I went in. The surgery was supposed to be straightforward, yet I ended up with a crater deformity on one side and visible scars around my areolas -- which were promised to be "virtually invisible." The consultations were cold and rushed, with little sense of genuine care or connection. The before-and-after photos on his website are also very deceiving. They're taken in different rooms with different lighting, and the after photos are in a cold room, making the nipples hard so results look tighter than they really are. It's misleading marketing, plain and simple. I felt like I was just used the entire process to help promote their business. After surgery, I was still completely out of it from anesthesia.The staff wheeled me straight out to my girlfriend's car and pretty much dumped me into the passenger seat. I came-to halfway home. I had no idea where I was and just started to cry b/c I was so frightened (and probably b/c of what my subconscious just witnessed happening). Two weeks later, I noticed a crease forming in my right areola. When I brought it up, I was told by Dr. Marosan to "rub Aquaphor on it." That was the only advice given. A year later, nothing had improved. Too much tissue had been aggressively removed, leaving an uneven, sunken appearance on one side. The scars were still VERY obvious. All of this from a simple procedure. I am not overweight and did not need a massive amount of work done - just the glands removed behind my areola due to adolescent gyno. To make things worse, I discovered my before-and-after photos on his website with a fabricated story claiming I was thrilled with the results. None of that was true. They used decieving before and after photos invented a completely bs narrative about my experience (maybe they're allowed to do that considering I signed everything w/o reading the small print). But I'm allowed to write an honest review about my side of the story here and I hope people read this! So much of my experience at this clinic was straight up unethical. I tried multiple times to reach out. emails, voicemails, phone calls, and got no response. The one time someone picked up, I was told he was "out of town," and the call ended there. No follow-up, no accountability, no care. All of this for $9,000 for a simple procedure from a 'master, experienced plastic surgeon who has done 1000s of these surgeries'. I really expected a simple outcome. Instead, I got deformity, neglect, and silence. I'm sharing this so others know what I wish I had known: the marketing and promises do not match the experience. I was referred to Dr Lu by the nurse at Swedish Breast clinic and I was so glad I found her. She's the most open, honest and kind surgeon. I had a deep tumor remove along with a major reduction to even things out afterwards- a 6 hour surgery and 600 + stitches. I trusted Dr Lu with my life and body and I'd do it again. The office is immaculate, there are several photo albums full of real patients before and after. Some types of surgery require grafting and highly technical work- all my grafts healed beautifully and everything works as it should and looks great. Dr Lu does post tumor/cancer reconstruction, she does purely cosmetic work, she also does medically necessary breast reductions. She knows the billing and insurance requirements for covered procedures and even had a supply company who mailed me the special foil wrapped medicine bandages and billed insurance for me. This was a scary, and yes- painful (hello, surgery!) process but I knew I had the best surgeon in our area and she was honest so I was prepared for the drains, healing, grafts, etc. As for that one negative review: I don't think a person should write a post about not trusting a surgeon because of one appt time error. Our first meeting was very informative and he sat with us until all of our questions were answered. His staff were really friendly, used appropriate pronouns, (even though I'm not passing), and they made me feel like I had been going there for years. I was skeptical about his work that I had seen because his pictures were old. But he walked me through the process and explained what he had learned over the years. It was refreshing to know that a surgeon had kept up on the technology and adapted his process. That impressed me. I'm post op, retained my grafts, have no dog ears and my scar lines are tiny, which was amazing because I was huge. I've seen other surgeons work and you won't be able to convince me that Dr. M isn't one of the best. I'm not only a fan, but I'm going to advertise for him for free. He's great guys. No need to go to Florida or CA. We have a high class surgeon right here in Seattle.
