    Lobster Mac & Cheese

Definitely--that's a great little detail because the honey butter sounds like one of those things that makes the meal memorable. I'd work it in like this: My family and I went to Bristol for dinner to celebrate several big milestones--a birthday, a new job, and the first day of high school. There were eight of us total, and from start to finish, our dinner took about two hours. It ended up being a really nice evening of good food, great company, and celebrating together. My mom started things off with a couple of dirty martinis served up, and she said they were both made to perfection. Most of the rest of us ordered from the prix fixe menu, which included an appetizer, a main course, and dessert. One of the nice touches was that the meal also came with biscuits and honey butter. I asked our server what kind of biscuits they were, and he said they were just plain biscuits, but told me the real experience was in the honey butter. He wasn't wrong! The biscuits themselves were good, but that honey butter definitely took them to another level. We're definitely a family of meat eaters, so it probably won't surprise anyone that most of us ordered steak. Everyone chose a different temperature, from rare to medium to well-done, and every single steak came out cooked exactly the way we ordered it. That was definitely a highlight. The sauce on the steak was really good as well. The side dishes were all over the place--in the best way! We had twice-baked potato, mashed potatoes, asparagus, Mexican street corn, and lobster mac and cheese. Bristol clearly believes there is no such thing as too much cheese, and honestly, we weren't complaining! The lobster mac and cheese was especially delicious. My asparagus was good, although the ends were a little tough, so maybe it just wasn't the best time of year for asparagus. My daughter isn't a big steak eater, so she ordered from the kids' menu. She got two sliders and fries and really enjoyed them. The sliders come completely plain, with just the cheeseburger, so she added her own ketchup and was perfectly happy. For appetizers, my mom ordered the lobster bisque and said it was absolutely perfect. Most of the rest of us went with Caesar salads, which were delicious. Then came dessert, and the portions were HUGE! We had a gigantic piece of carrot cake, a chocolate mousse cake, and the trio of ice cream flavors. Everything was so large that we ended up sharing the desserts rather than trying to eat them individually. The atmosphere at Bristol is definitely more upscale, but you can still easily wear jeans and a nice shirt and feel comfortable. At the same time, there were plenty of people dressed up in suits and dresses, so it really depends on what you're celebrating and how dressed up you want to be. I also want to mention the customer service because it was excellent throughout our entire dinner. We actually visited Bristol back in March for my birthday and had a less-than-stellar experience, so I was especially happy to have such a great experience this time. It really felt like a redemption night, and I appreciated that. We don't get to go out for fancy dinners very often, so this was a special evening for our family. Getting to celebrate a birthday, a new job, and the first day of high school all at once, while enjoying good food and spending time together, made it worth it. For seven adults and one child, we spent around $650, so it definitely falls into the "special occasion" dinner category for us. But for a night when we wanted to celebrate and enjoy ourselves, it was a great experience, and I'm glad we gave Bristol another chance.

I grew up near the Creve Coeur location, and I'd go there every once in a while back in the day, on the rare occasion when my parents had somehow caught a lick. Maybe my grandparents died and they inherited $300, or something to that effect. We were gonna go there for Mother's Day, but we couldn't get a table. I drove by on the way home this evening, and the lot was full of those mini SUVs normies swear by. It's definitely the kind of place you'd take your mother on Mother's Day. Women love seafood, and it costs a lot of money, so it shows that you care. They can take a selfie out front and use it to stunt on anyone whose child took them to a Red Lobster. There's a special prix fixe menu that they wheel out on special occasions, including Mother's Day, that might save you about $5--but only if you were planning to get a salad, which you don't really need. There's nothing really special about their salads. I guess you're getting a little roughage, and a little extra food to compensate for entrees that aren't particularly large, and it's not any more than you'd pay to order an entree and a dessert a la carte. And you're going to want that dessert. The Carrot Cake is the best thing this place serves. I don't know if they're baking it themselves or ordering it from a catalog. Probably the latter. I didn't bother to check to see what it costs, but I'd be willing to ask my parents to pay as much as $15 for a slice. It's positively decadent. It probably cost me a day or two off the end of my life, and it was worth it. What do old people even do? For the appetizer I got the Caesar Salad, and for the entree I got the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes. There were no real appetizers, like chicken wings or loaded potato skins, on the prix fixe menu. There was a wide selection of entrees, and they seemed to be the exact same servings you'd get if you ordered them a la carte. Though it should be noted that anything here will run you. It's not like they're doing you a favor. Everything that I had was pretty good, but not in any way that was truly impressive. The crab cakes were small. Really, it was just one jumbo lump crab cake split into two. They must think we're dumb. The mashed potatoes were less decadent than I recall them being back in the 1990s, which I realize was probably before our server was born, but I don't care. If I can remember it, it still counts. In general, this is just not the classy affair they want it to be. I don't know what the food is like at the Creve Coeur location, but it looks way cooler. This place has different signage and a completely different vibe. It's built into the kind of hotel your sales job puts you up in when they bring you to town to attempt to fleece the elderly. The whole thing has that same prefab vibe that everything in St. Charles County has. With all due respect. I'd return, but only if my mother insisted and my father was paying.

This was my second time at Bristol, and once again I was absolutely blown away. From the fresh baked biscuits with honey butter to the fantastic happy hour deals, this might be my favorite restaurant in the area. Our server, Matt, was over-the-top fantastic. His recommendations were on point, he was genuinely fun to talk to, and he made us feel completely welcomed. They even split up our meals so my date and I could share, which was a great touch. The food was great again, though I was disappointed to see the shrimp scampi off the menu since it was my favorite. The spicy cauliflower wasn't my favorite, but the oysters were solid, especially with the discount. The smoked old fashioned Matt poured table-side was awesome, and he even left the extra whiskey in the smoked bottle. The only real disappointment was the fourteen dollar upcharge to add shrimp to a salad. I will definitely be returning again.

We had a wonderful experience at Bristol! Our food was delicious and the waitstaff were so attentive. Some of our favorites were oysters Rockefeller and Bristol's signature rolls! We went for a birthday celebration and it was the perfect date night experience.

Highly recommend the fresh oysters! They were delightful! Don't skip the mignonette sauce, wow!

All-around excellent experience! We visited on Sunday evening and stopped in around 4:30 without reservations and sat at the bar. Kristina and Shawn were both fabulous! The Sunday evening menu did not disappoint with specials on oysters, wine, and appetizers. The oysters were fresh and tasty! We and our friends had a sampling of several appetizers. Highly recommend the bruschetta, calamari and cauliflower! Kristina was also spot on with her wine recommendation! Go visit Bristol's next Sunday night; you will not be disappointed!

Valentines Day ... I am traveling and stay at the Hilton next door. Hilton's restaurant is closed at 7:30pm. They give me a 15% discount card for Bristol. They found seating for me at the bar. Service was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable. I order the (two) mini lobster roll appetizer. Very tasty. Good presentation. Fries were very good and not over-salted. Lobster mac & cheese - insufficiently lobster-y; but otherwise, good. Beer cold. Their hoppy-iest IPA ... insufficiently hoppy, but served cold in a chilled glass. Noisy. Bar seating is a tad bit cramped.

Everything was amazing. We had a reservation and were seated immediately at our time. Our server was Star and she was aptly named. Everything was served promptly, correctly and fresh. This is one of our favorite places to go for great seafood and steaks. The carrot cake is also a must.

    Anniversary note
    David B.

We've celebrated many anniversaries at the Bristol in Creve Coeur because of our love for seafood and their consistently excellent food. However, this year we decided to try the Bristol in O'Fallon for our anniversary celebration, and it was a delightful experience. The restaurant has a beautiful, open design--much more spacious than the original location--and it was spotless. The food was just as incredible as we've come to expect. We both opted for the 3-course meal, starting with the lobster bisque. The bisque was outstanding and held special meaning for us. When we were newly married and on a tight budget, my father-in-law would take us to the Bristol, and the lobster bisque was his favorite. As we enjoyed it, my wife reflected on how much her dad loved that soup. Though he passed away two years ago, having the bisque felt like a small way to honor him and his memory. For our mains, we enjoyed perfectly cooked salmon and swordfish, paired with flavorful sides like cauliflower au gratin, lemon asparagus risotto, and potatoes. Each dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. For dessert, we indulged in a decadent chocolate cake with raspberry ice cream and a warm apple pie dish (the exact name escapes me). We rarely take the time to enjoy a long, relaxing 3-course meal, but sitting near the fireplace, reminiscing about our lives together, and savoring a fantastic meal made this anniversary truly special.

Super friendly and very knowledgeable! True to Napoli's style, Service was top notch! Pretzel Bread service to kick things off, served with Spicy Mustard and Spicy Queso, both delicious. I'd have to say the queso was my favorite, but... we'll yeah it's cheese! Hayden let me taste the Sauvignon Blanc on happy hour and while it wasn't unenjoyble, I went with the non-happy hour Reisling for the win, which was delicious! Coastal Hour Crispy Rock Shrimp as an appetizer, which is about 1/2 the dinner size and perfect as a starter or even as a meal with a soup or salad. Really nice breading on the shrimp, not too thick. Good flavor on the sauce, not spicy. For the entree, Louisiana style Halibut with Crawfish and Cajun Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The plate comes out piping hot, please don't touch. I even had to cool off each bite of food. Well balanced flavors, cooked perfectly. No room for dessert, so I settled on the Smores Martini which was an amazing dessert choice. You get all the flavors of a Smores treat in a libation. Truly enjoyed this Thursday eve!

My husband and I had dinner there last night for a special occasion. We were immediately a little freaked out by a male waiter who appeared to be bouncing off the walls, as if he was on crack. At one point, he almost fell into our table, and all I could think was, "please, please, don't let this be our waiter." Guess what. He was. He never introduced himself, but he acted like he thought he was onstage at a comedy club. He was just getting a massive kick out of what he apparently thinks is a personality, but all I could think is that this place clearly doesn't test for drugs. Since we were celebrating an occasion, we asked to start with a bottle of Chardonnay. After an unacceptable wait time, he brought me a single glass of Chardonnay and loudly declared it, "a generous pour." I had to remind him that we had ordered a bottle. Despite the fact that he never once introduced himself, we were able to learn his name from our check when he brought it, and his manager and coworkers will know exactly who he is from my description. Brother, I am not going to divulge your name here, but please call someone. Get some help. Please. He has what sounds to me to be a strong southern accent. I'm from Alabama, and I felt like I was back home, in the worst possible way. He has no concept of how to be a waiter, but he sure is impressed with himself and his schtick. Think Jeff Foxworthy - "you might be a redneck" - but without any of the charm. He's just loud, obnoxious, and incompetent. He practically hangs from the chandeliers. Again, we were celebrating a special occasion, and our waiter (let's call him M) eventually did figure out how to bring us a bottle of wine - which tasted off, with a vague aftertaste of olives, of all things. Then he dashed off, because there were clearly customers there who were far more important than us. He had ZERO interest in providing us service. He was hyperfocused on the large table that they were anticipating - clearly someone was having a party. That doesn't mean that my husband and I didn't deserve basic service. We were celebrating something too. We just weren't quite so ostentatious about it. I ordered the seafood ravioli, and my husband ordered spaghetti with one meatball. Neither meal came with a salad, but M seemed to desperately want my husband to have one, so he finally said, "fine, bring me the salad." Again, the wait time was downright silly, but M eventually brought him the salad, and then acted as if he had screwed up by not also bringing me a salad plate (I hadn't asked for one and didn't want one). According to my husband, the salad that nobody wanted (and that we had to pay extra for) was edible, but nothing special. Finally, our entrees came. The menu described the seafood ravioli as "Large ravioli noodles filled with lobster, shrimp, and scallops, served in a rich, creamy sauce with mushrooms, clams, and garlic." Sure, if you say so. What I actually got was CHEESE ravioli in a cream sauce that somehow managed to be both bland and overwhelming - quite a feat! The cheese smell was so strong it was nauseating. I did manage to find a few clams in the sauce, but it was nothing like what the menu had promised, and there wasn't even the slightest hint of seafood in the ravioli stuffing. If lobster, shrimp, or scallops were involved, I saw no sign of it. The few clams I managed to find in the sauce were the only hint that this was supposed to be a seafood dish. It was quite some time before M bothered to acknowledge us again, so when he finally did check on us, I explained that my dish was inedible. His demeanor changed completely, and from then on, he barely acknowledged us, and when he did, he was rude. He didn't apologize for the bad food. He didn't ask if I'd like anything else. He just walked away with my barely-touched food, clearly pissed, and he couldn't resist making a snide comment about having to ask his manager if he could take it off the bill, because he didn't have the authority to do it on his own (I hadn't asked him to). The manager didn't bother to say anything to us, and M barely spoke to us again. I went home hungry. Some celebration. At this point, I just wanted out of this place, so as soon as my husband finished his food, we were out of there as fast as we could move. What we had hoped would be a pleasant celebratory dinner, ended up being, hands-down, my worst restaurant experience ever, and we will NEVER be back.

We were greeted and seated right away, which was a nice start to the evening. This was our first visit to this particular location, although we've dined a few times over the years at their Creve Coeur restaurant. Our server was also tending bar that evening. He was polite and attentive, although a bit soft-spoken, which made him a little difficult to hear at times in the busy restaurant. We started with drinks--my wife ordered her usual glass of Chardonnay, and I went with a Corona. For dinner, my wife chose the blackened red snapper tacos with green beans and beans and rice, while I ordered the seaside combo with cod and shrimp, served with green beans and potato wedges. Our food arrived in about 25 minutes, and everything tasted very good. My wife especially kept talking about how flavorful the red snapper tacos were. The seafood tasted fresh, and the sides complemented the meals nicely. Overall, both the service and food made for a very enjoyable evening. The only downside was the price, as the dishes are definitely on the higher side. Still, with seafood being shipped in from the coast/gulf, that's somewhat understandable. All in all, it was a good dining experience, and we'd consider coming back again for another date night.
